Jordan Spieth is a great American, but can he bring that greatness to the Open in Britain?
CONTROVERSY QUELLER: Yes, per both the PGA schedule and Wikipedia, the British Open is "The Open" and all others need a modifier. I've been living a lie for decades - who knew?

Queens Woman Confronts Mayor De Blasio
A lot of anger out there.
Posted by: jimmyk | July 23, 2017 at 12:11 PM
I walked away from the tv while Spieth was on the backside of a dune and everyone was scream "line of sight!!!"
I've returned and now he is wandering around a bunch of broadcast trailers.
What did I miss?
Posted by: Threadkiller | July 23, 2017 at 12:20 PM
The golf course is over there >>> Jordan!! No, no - over there >>>. Keep going. No, on the other side of the equipment buses. Yeah, over there >>>. No, you can't get a free re-grip while you're here...
Posted by: Beasts of England | July 23, 2017 at 12:20 PM
...was screaming..
Posted by: Threadkiller | July 23, 2017 at 12:21 PM
Ok.. he's back on the dune.
I assume he moved the ball further away from the hole?
Posted by: Threadkiller | July 23, 2017 at 12:23 PM
I've never seen anything like this. Ever.
Posted by: Beasts of England | July 23, 2017 at 12:25 PM
Choke.
Posted by: lyle | July 23, 2017 at 12:26 PM
What penalty did he incur?

In Trump's 4d chess world, this was a setup to break the other guy's stride.

Spieth is trying to give Jean Van De Velde a run for choke champion extraordinaire at The Open.
Posted by: lyle | July 23, 2017 at 12:30 PM
But, honestly. How can any dude root against some guy with a nickname like "Kootch"? Huh?

the British Open is "The Open" and all others need a modifier. I've been living a lie for decades - who knew?
So what? I had an online friend try to correct me in calling a double eagle an albatross. I told him that I heard Gene Sarazin's famous shot called a double eagle and that was all the validation I needed forever.
Posted by: Captain Hate | July 23, 2017 at 12:33 PM
He took an unplayable lie, TK.

Tell your friend that an albatross is specific type of double-eagle - a '1' on a par four, Captain Hate.
Posted by: Beasts of England | July 23, 2017 at 12:41 PM
A '2' on a par five is a double-eagle, like Gene's.

My golf lexicon:
A hole in one.
A double eagle.
An eagle.
A birdie.
A par.
A bogey.
A double bogey.
A triple bogey.
A decent hole for TC.

The kids at Reddit are comparing situations in Harry Potter books to real life - fake news, banning the use of magic as a defense, not saying Voldemort's name, the corrupt administrative state. I've always thought that JK Rowlings is a classic liberal in that she believes in the power of the individual - the series is a study in good vs. evil.
I wonder if her support of Labour is because she lived on the dole as a single parent while writing the first book.

16, 17 and 18 is where The Open will be won or lost. Hard to believe he choked on short putts first 4 holes then like Lazarus rises from the dead with 2 "stakes through the heart" birdie and eagle putts. Reminds me of Tom Watson more than Jack.
Since RG is insistent on calling The Open the British Open, here is a tennis question: You have the US Open, the French Open and the Australian Open.
What then is the tournament known as Wimbledon, officially called?
Another stake in the heart of the beast.

One putt = damn good. One Bloody Mary = damn good.
Two putt = less good but not bad on a par 4 or 5. Two Bloody Mary's = damn fine.

Glas, the problem will always be "it's Archibald Cox and Trump must resign". And the entire media will sing it daily. Doesn't mean he shouldn't do it, but we will go thru hell.
I want him to uncover the dirt on the dems and start putting them all in jail. I hold out almost no hope.

Boy NBC screwed the pooch by not showing the obligatory shot of the silversmith engraving Spieth's name on the trophy. This is what you get when ABC gave up its rights.
Hope they bring Spieth's remarks. I think they will be just as good if not better than Justin Leonard's at Troon in 1997. Another Dallas kid, IIRC.
