No wonder we csn't repeal ocare. Layard is behind the Positive Education push globally and there is a link on my blog to the recent interview where he talks about "going into the schools to prevent bad mental health" in the first place. All kids.
"Develop the character of children as much as their competence" brought to you by our overlords.
Simply passing this on as reminder that if you have sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, kids of family friends etc, who are relatively smart and athletic but are directionless and without any idea what to do, they might consider aviation. It's expensive, but it can be done and it doesn't require any more than basically your average B- or C+ student with some initiative. We're going to get the pilots from somewhere and I'd sure rather they be kids from this country well versed in English instead of picking them up from fly by night schools in the Philippines or China, etc.
I believe a 'single payer' amendment was offered to the skinny repeal and the Ds/progs wouldn't vote for even that..that's how stupid/mentally ill the Ds in the US Senate are..
“From the beginning, I have believed that Obamacare should be repealed and replaced with a solution that increases competition, lowers costs, and improves care for the American people. The so-called ‘skinny repeal’ amendment the Senate voted on today would not accomplish those goals. While the amendment would have repealed some of Obamacare’s most burdensome regulations, it offered no replacement to actually reform our health care system and deliver affordable, quality health care to our citizens. The Speaker's statement that the House would be ‘willing’ to go to conference does not ease my concern that this shell of a bill could be taken up and passed at any time.
“I’ve stated time and time again that one of the major failures of Obamacare was that it was rammed through Congress by Democrats on a strict-party line basis without a single Republican vote. We should not make the mistakes of the past that has led to Obamacare’s collapse, including in my home state of Arizona where premiums are skyrocketing and health care providers are fleeing the marketplace. We must now return to the correct way of legislating and send the bill back to committee, hold hearings, receive input from both sides of aisle, heed the recommendations of nation’s governors, and produce a bill that finally delivers affordable health care for the American people. We must do the hard work our citizens expect of us and deserve.”
The bolded sentence is exactly why it should have been repealed. Only after that - if then - would the Dems be willing to work on the replacement. The old fool expects us to believe that if only they were consulted and hearings were held, they'd have cooperated on a replacement.

DebinGA,
You raise an interesting point. I'm not aware of any democrats who would willingly break ranks with their leaders. I think that may be territory that the President may want to explore.
Donnelly of Indianaam sitting in the branch library right now waiting on my sister to find her book. Just spent an hour at a thrift store where I bought a spatula, a vase, and a Bernard Cornwall paperback.

Hi, Jane. No improvement, alas, even after a 6 day Prednisone treatment. But I'm still ambulatory. We'll see what they want to do when I get home next week.
There is always an After Takeoff checklist. They either neglected to do it, or went thru it verbally or perfunctorily without actually checking that they had actually accomplished the checklist items.

Sounds kinda like the voters need to follow suit. For all of them.

Home! Sorry for the garble in my reply to Jane, but I was on my phone and hence the typos.
Going places with my teacher sister is difficult because she is a meanderer. I covered that whole thrift store in 15 minutes but she had to go through every rack of clothing and look at every piece! Argh!
I didn't need any clothing so I was looking for cheap, useful houseware items and happened upon the Cornwe,, book.
Same thing at library. I fount 4 books in 15 minutes and then had to wait on her.

Next Thursday is free night at the Art Museum again. We are going to look at the American collection and the fashion collection. I will take a paperback so that I have something to do while she is reading every single label. LOL!
I texted my friend, who has a couple of friends who work in the WH to tell them to tell Trump about getting congress off Obamacare. I have no idea if they will, (or if they have Trump's ear) but someone should.
KK-I had seen a Foreword mcdonnell ad written to a character book and the james mcdonnell foundation is likewise involved with character as well as systems thinking via the santa fe institute.
It's a scam although he may believe what he is writing. I am actually too tired to explain at the moment as red was hit tuesday by another driver who decided to turn left in dt atl on a one way street from the center lane so she could park and make it to a sports dinner. I finally had to call the girl's ins co before dawn yesterday to get through. The ins co has already accepted liability, we now have a rental car, and her car has now been towed.
I will put in this way beyond what is in my most recent post. The admitted Marxist profs who in 1976 wrote a book on how America might have to have a violent revolution to get the necessary changes are now at santa fe doing systems thinking.
wellbeing, character, and systems thinking are all means to shift to the cybernetic template that has also been a part of most of the Bipartisan congressional agenda like wioa and the federal ed law. It's what my next book is about so I am not speculating, but I think I will be starting happy hour on bermuda time today.
I went on Twitter and saw that Tammy Bruce had tweeted that idea to President Trump, and she already had thousands of retweets, so I added mine, which should mean his feed will be full of her comment.
I don't know how many people even knew that, other than us dedicated political junkies, but I am sure a lot more know now.
I realize for the Senators it won't matter, since most of them are rich. However, those aides need to feel the pain rather than walking around like they are a privileged class.
Good afternoon! Have you looked at a hospital bill lately? The bill for my foot surgery and unexpected visit to the CCU would have made me weak in the knees if we didn't have good (private) insurance. One of these days I'll tell you the story of why I was in the CCU. The short version is that I was *this* close to a medical mistake.
We were gone most of the day and I've been catching up. The Bangor paper says that when Susan Collins got off the plane from Washington this afternoon, she was greeted with applause. Probably tourists.
Every Dem presidential nominee has won Maine since 1988. BOzo won there in 2012 with a higher percentage than in 2008. Susan Collins is likely the best we can expect imo, and she at least helps prevent a ML Schumer.
Marlene, Call whoever generated the bill and tell them you want it reduced because it was their fault. It probably won't work (because they will see it as an admission of malpractice) but it might.
Jane, hubby spoke to the patient relations person at the hospital. We received a letter and the other day hubby spoke to the chief anesthesiologist. Hubby's father died because of a medical mistake,so he is very sensitive to the issue, like a dog with a bone. :)
Awan should avoid Fort Marcy Park, lifting weights and being out in areas where Seth Rich would ordinarily feel safe. Although he probably knows that from the data he's seen.

These are the guys we're going to have to start hiring for our Domestic Airlines if we can't get our own kids to do the job: Air India pilots grounded after forgetting to retract wheels
It was a mystery for two Air India pilots - how come their brand new Airbus A320 was running low on fuel?
The situation had gotten so bad that the flight from Kolkata to Mumbai had to be diverted to Nagpur because the plane wouldn't make it all the way.
It was then the pilots realised their error - they had forgotten to retract the aircraft landing gear and had left the wheels out all the way.
Only 1200 miles.

The nutty thing about this is that the very first thing you always do upon getting airborne is raise the landing gear. We were gone most of the day and I've been catching up. The Bangor paper says that when Susan Collins got off the plane from Washington this afternoon, she was greeted with applause. Probably tourists.

Marlene:
"This close to a medical mistake"
I would love to hear about it.
It is why I don't trust hospitals.

Per AP, McCain is off to Phoenix for radiation and chemotherapy until September.

Here's the sterling citizen that shot and killed the police officer near my grandchildren's home.
Creepy ear discs, check. Pierced lip, check. Jewel in nose, check. Crazy eyes, check.

The lack of sweat through his tattoos made him do it.

The passing of June Foray has triggered a new Howie Carr death pool. About 10 callers in and nobody's selected McCain yet.

Dave, how fast did Awan and DWS get picked in the pool?
Posted by: henry | July 28, 2017 at 04:16 PM
Haven't heard those, but someone picked Officer Mohamed of Minneapolis.

Medved is highlighting Sassehole's generic floor speech.
Apparently this government is the greatest experiment ever.

Every January Amy and I used to do a death pool. We should do one here. Where is Hit when we need him?
Posted by: Jane (Stand against the Coup) | July 28, 2017 at 04:25 PM
DWS was just selected, and Howie's co-host said "are you sure you don't want Awan?"
Posted by: Dave (in MA) | July 28, 2017 at 04:26 PM
Jane, hubby spoke to the patient relations person at the hospital. We received a letter and the other day hubby spoke to the chief anesthesiologist. Hubby's father died because of a medical mistake,so he is very sensitive to the issue, like a dog with a bone. :)

Awan should avoid Fort Marcy Park, lifting weights and being out in areas where Seth Rich would ordinarily feel safe. Although he probably knows that from the data he's seen.
Posted by: Captain Hate | July 28, 2017 at 04:28 PM
Darn,I knew Howie would do a death pool and the Awan Bro would be my first choice!

Interesting.... 4-chan floating Away connect to Giffords shooting. Awn downloaded a video before the shooting. Liked it after.

henry - thanks for keeping up with McCain's location. So, now that he has wrecked the ACA repeal for all regular Americans - he is jetting back to AZ where he will receive the best, most $$$ treatment available ~ all paid for by us!
What a guy!

thanks, rse. noticed McDonnell was an ND grad. that well was rife with "we gotta make a change" after the Tom Dooley days and the Nam.

All this talk of McCain and a tumor. They just needed an excuse to get him on the top floor for debriefing and new orders.
We now know what instructions he was given.
