its all a scam to lay blame / credit for single player in the right places so the uniparty avoids the guillotine.

McCain from his "Legendary Speech for the Ages" 3 days ago:

McCain: We're getting nothing done, my friends, we're getting nothing done! And all we've really done this year is confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

And I thought he was saying it at that time as if he was upset about getting nothing done. Silly me:(

the were reaching across the aisle around enough for him.

were, weren't... what difference does autospell make anyway?

But well-being is the purpose of government

Notice the presence of Angus Deaton on the panel in the year before he won the Nobel Econ Prize. He is saying GDP should no longer be the definition of prosperity. Well-being should be and public policy should make it so.

No wonder we csn't repeal ocare. Layard is behind the Positive Education push globally and there is a link on my blog to the recent interview where he talks about "going into the schools to prevent bad mental health" in the first place. All kids.

"Develop the character of children as much as their competence" brought to you by our overlords.

Linking a CNN story since it talks about the huge Pilot shortage we are facing: The U.S. has a staggering pilot shortage

Simply passing this on as reminder that if you have sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, kids of family friends etc, who are relatively smart and athletic but are directionless and without any idea what to do, they might consider aviation. It's expensive, but it can be done and it doesn't require any more than basically your average B- or C+ student with some initiative. We're going to get the pilots from somewhere and I'd sure rather they be kids from this country well versed in English instead of picking them up from fly by night schools in the Philippines or China, etc.

Time for Trump to delete the ObamaCare exemption for Congress.

I believe a 'single payer' amendment was offered to the skinny repeal and the Ds/progs wouldn't vote for even that..that's how stupid/mentally ill the Ds in the US Senate are..

Captain Hate

Tammy Bruce: McRINO's vote was a big Fuck You to Trump and the American people. Also Tammy says "Fuck you" to Ryan and McConnell.

"The movie will be called 'Debbie Does Dulles.'"

Here's McCain's dumb statement:

“From the beginning, I have believed that Obamacare should be repealed and replaced with a solution that increases competition, lowers costs, and improves care for the American people. The so-called ‘skinny repeal’ amendment the Senate voted on today would not accomplish those goals. While the amendment would have repealed some of Obamacare’s most burdensome regulations, it offered no replacement to actually reform our health care system and deliver affordable, quality health care to our citizens. The Speaker's statement that the House would be ‘willing’ to go to conference does not ease my concern that this shell of a bill could be taken up and passed at any time.

I’ve stated time and time again that one of the major failures of Obamacare was that it was rammed through Congress by Democrats on a strict-party line basis without a single Republican vote. We should not make the mistakes of the past that has led to Obamacare’s collapse, including in my home state of Arizona where premiums are skyrocketing and health care providers are fleeing the marketplace. We must now return to the correct way of legislating and send the bill back to committee, hold hearings, receive input from both sides of aisle, heed the recommendations of nation’s governors, and produce a bill that finally delivers affordable health care for the American people. We must do the hard work our citizens expect of us and deserve.”

The bolded sentence is exactly why it should have been repealed. Only after that - if then - would the Dems be willing to work on the replacement. The old fool expects us to believe that if only they were consulted and hearings were held, they'd have cooperated on a replacement.

rse---> I don't know where the author falls on your integrity spectrum of modern education theorists.

But this one strums a few chords from his harp, at least enough to call out, indirectly, how far the two major ivies have fallen in terms of mission and integrity:

Perhaps because he was a captain of industry and not an ivory-towered buffalo, he had a more useful tale. I appreciate the long war that you are fighting. I had neither the ammo nor the time to delve into this most necessary fight against a foe which has metastasized in its girth and fund-sucking powers *EVERYWHERE*.

"Let's talk about formal education. When our country was founded, Harvard, Yale
and Princeton were all theological seminaries whose whole thrust was teaching the values
of our Judeo-Christian faith. And from kindergarten through the university level,
character education was considered just as important as intellectual knowledge.

I'd prefer a guillotine, personally. But either one works.

MM - Kid Rock will make a great Senator - comes from a great family and is very concerned about what's happening to our country.

Are there rogue Dem counterparts to McCain, Graham, Collins, and Murkowski? I can't think of any who seek the spotlight to publicly defy their leadership. Was it that Pelosi and Reid, unlike ostriches Ryan and McConnell, were realistically feared?

Those 2 Air India pilots were the equivalent of drivers leaving the turn blinkers on. They didn't notice the plane was responding funny? Robots are braying.

Please, dear God, don't let them bury his carcass in Arlington National Cemetery along side our service members who are real heroes. It would be a disgrace!

If we are forced to do it, let him double bunk with that other traitor, Ted Kennedy.

Tom R

Are there rogue Dem counterparts to McCain, Graham, Collins, and Murkowski?

No because they know how Chicago Machine politics works and that they will be destroyed if they don't adhere to the Democrat party line. See Rod Blagoevich.

Yep, Peter.

These are the guys we're going to have to start hiring for our Domestic Airlines if we can't get our own kids to do the job: Air India pilots grounded after forgetting to retract wheels

It was a mystery for two Air India pilots - how come their brand new Airbus A320 was running low on fuel?

The situation had gotten so bad that the flight from Kolkata to Mumbai had to be diverted to Nagpur because the plane wouldn't make it all the way.

It was then the pilots realised their error - they had forgotten to retract the aircraft landing gear and had left the wheels out all the way.

Only 1200 miles.

You raise an interesting point. I'm not aware of any democrats who would willingly break ranks with their leaders. I think that may be territory that the President may want to explore.

From numerous movie/tv shows, I thought pilots and co-pilots went through a pre-flight checklist together until everything was noted as "done".

Miss Marple

Jane, I thought you were being sarcastic caustic because the odds of President Trump reading anything of mine are slowly m to none.

Sorry for the snippy reply.

Hi, Jane. No improvement, alas, even after a 6 day Prednisone treatment. But I'm still ambulatory. We'll see what they want to do when I get home next week.

Frau Fidibus

The pilots did the *pre-flight*, dontcha think?

Sorry Lyle.
Did you try the mustard?

Aren't there alarms that go off in the cockpit for unretracted landing gear?

There is always an After Takeoff checklist. They either neglected to do it, or went thru it verbally or perfunctorily without actually checking that they had actually accomplished the checklist items.

The nutty thing about this is that the very first thing you always do upon getting airborne is raise the landing gear. Nothing comes prior to that---that is the primary action after getting airborne---the instant you get a positive rate of climb going the pilot flying calls "Landing Gear Up, and the monitoring pilot raises the landing gear. It does not get any more fundamental than that.

Other than my normal intake, no, mr.

I couldn't find potassium pills at my pharmacy. Do I need to go online?

What sort of potassium compound has been recommended/prescribed, lyle?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Home! Sorry for the garble in my reply to Jane, but I was on my phone and hence the typos.

Going places with my teacher sister is difficult because she is a meanderer. I covered that whole thrift store in 15 minutes but she had to go through every rack of clothing and look at every piece! Argh!

I didn't need any clothing so I was looking for cheap, useful houseware items and happened upon the Cornwe,, book.

Same thing at library. I fount 4 books in 15 minutes and then had to wait on her.

This is the one who kept wandering off when we went to Canterbury and London. Drove me nuts.

I either got them at Walmart or Sam's Club, but Amazon has them too. My doctor said magnesium works too. I take 99 mg of potassium. I couldn't find the mg on the tumeric. Between D and C and Red yeast rice, potassium etc I think I take 11 pills at night, 2 of which are prescription. But it does seem to be working.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

We rarely eat anywhere fancy, so basically she goes for whatever combo is cheap.

She's the one that reads every label in a museum. I more of a "hit the high points" person.

She's a retired art teacher, while my major was geology. She had dolls (and still collects them). I had an electric train and a robot.

She is my closest in age sister, and we do get along, but we are like opposites on a lot of stuff.

Next Thursday is free night at the Art Museum again. We are going to look at the American collection and the fashion collection. I will take a paperback so that I have something to do while she is reading every single label. LOL!

I texted my friend, who has a couple of friends who work in the WH to tell them to tell Trump about getting congress off Obamacare. I have no idea if they will, (or if they have Trump's ear) but someone should.

None so far, Kev. I'm all ears.

KK-I had seen a Foreword mcdonnell ad written to a character book and the james mcdonnell foundation is likewise involved with character as well as systems thinking via the santa fe institute.

It's a scam although he may believe what he is writing. I am actually too tired to explain at the moment as red was hit tuesday by another driver who decided to turn left in dt atl on a one way street from the center lane so she could park and make it to a sports dinner. I finally had to call the girl's ins co before dawn yesterday to get through. The ins co has already accepted liability, we now have a rental car, and her car has now been towed.

I will put in this way beyond what is in my most recent post. The admitted Marxist profs who in 1976 wrote a book on how America might have to have a violent revolution to get the necessary changes are now at santa fe doing systems thinking.

wellbeing, character, and systems thinking are all means to shift to the cybernetic template that has also been a part of most of the Bipartisan congressional agenda like wioa and the federal ed law. It's what my next book is about so I am not speculating, but I think I will be starting happy hour on bermuda time today.

This is so special. http://citiscope.org/story/2017/using-minecraft-engage-public-and-plan-better-public-spaces

After all if it works in vr, it can be made to work in the real world. Just takes legislation and taxpayer money supposedly.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

That was a good idea!

I went on Twitter and saw that Tammy Bruce had tweeted that idea to President Trump, and she already had thousands of retweets, so I added mine, which should mean his feed will be full of her comment.

I don't know how many people even knew that, other than us dedicated political junkies, but I am sure a lot more know now.

I realize for the Senators it won't matter, since most of them are rich. However, those aides need to feel the pain rather than walking around like they are a privileged class.

Stephanie Puppy Pincushion extraordinaire

Dang rse, hope red is ok.

Seems to be a rash of JOM daughter accidents of late.

Good afternoon! Have you looked at a hospital bill lately? The bill for my foot surgery and unexpected visit to the CCU would have made me weak in the knees if we didn't have good (private) insurance. One of these days I'll tell you the story of why I was in the CCU. The short version is that I was *this* close to a medical mistake.

We were gone most of the day and I've been catching up. The Bangor paper says that when Susan Collins got off the plane from Washington this afternoon, she was greeted with applause. Probably tourists.
