From the NY Daily News:
Knicks-Rockets deal to send Carmelo Anthony to Houston 'is at the two yard line'
Say what?!? This is basketball, dammit! The deal is at the line and shooting two. Or the deal is taking a time-out to talk it over (when is that NOT happening in the NBA?).
Geez, what's next? "The deal is up a break and serving for the set"? "The deal has the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth and is looking for the walk-off"? "The deal has pulled the goalie"?
Bah. Send Team Banana Boat to Houston.
Who are you and what have you done with TM™?

“Natalia didn’t speak a word of English,” said one source. “Don’t let anyone tell you this was a sophisticated lobbying effort. It was the least professional campaign I’ve ever seen. If she’s the cream of the Moscow intelligence community then we have nothing to worry about.”
As I've been trying to say: it's the little human details that provide illumination.

I am only a lurker usually and miss things when out of country, but does anyone else ever wonder why fairly basic questions never get asked or not answered? For examples:
1. Who hired Craig Livingston?
2. Who put the billing records in the library and when--staff would have noticed?
3. Why did we overthrow Khaddafi?
4. Why was it so time sensitive to overthrow him then?
5. Why was CNN so up, running, and connected in Turkey so that Erdogan went immediately from his plane to CNN during the "coup"?
6. When did the Clinton campaign start working with the Ukrainians? What did they get from them? Is that why Hillary was so sure that Putin was opposed to her?
7. If she doesn't speak English, who spoke in the meeting?
I must be stupid....

from the Hill ... so the visa waiver had to come from Lynch ...
>>>That work was a far cry from the narrow reason the U.S. government initially gave for allowing Veselnitskaya into the U.S. in late 2015, according to federal court records.
The Moscow lawyer had been turned down for a visa to enter the U.S. lawfully but then was granted special immigration parole by then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch for the limited purpose of helping a company owned by Russian businessman Denis Katsyv, her client, defend itself against a Justice Department asset forfeiture case in federal court in New York City.
During a court hearing in early January 2016 as Veselnitskaya’s permission to stay in the country was about to expire, federal prosecutors described how rare the grant of parole immigration was as Veselnitskaya pleaded for more time to remain in the United States.
“In October the government bypassed the normal visa process and gave a type of extraordinary permission to enter the country called immigration parole,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Monteleoni explained to the judge during a hearing Jan. 6, 2016.
“That's a discretionary act that the statute allows the Attorney General to do in extraordinary circumstances. In this case, we did that so that Mr. Katsyv could testify. And we made the further accommodation of allowing his Russian lawyer into the country to assist,” he added.<<<
Mighty nice of 'um ...

MM, when I have a night like it appears you've had, I just accept it. There are almost always nap times that pop up as the day unfolds. If not--coffee!
I have noticed that if I do not drink after six, I sleep well, pretty much all the time.
(Sadly, drinking at the hospital has fallen out of fashion, so that doesn't ever happen on workdays. My father in law the radiologist lunched at the club in the GM Building on workdays and drank not one but two martinis back in the (Mad Men) day. Brits still did even when I trained. I blame the progs that have flooded the med schools. No fun ever allowed!)
Something in Campari (or red vermouth) must be a raging stimulant for me. I had two Negronis over the course of the afternoon Saturday, and barely slept at all.
I know for a fact it is not the gin!
n+1 here. YMMV
Momma went home yesterday, brother on duty. All's well. Thanks JOMers.

Sadly, drinking at the hospital has fallen out of fashion, so that doesn't ever happen on workdays.

Posted by: daddy | July 13, 2017 at 07:47 AM
Here you go,daddy...
This could be the beginning of the end for embattled Sen. John McCain’s life in politics. According to White House officials, McCain is believed to have somehow gained access to the content of President Donald Trump’s private, classified telephone calls with world leaders. And he isn’t keeping quiet about what was talked about either.
An analysis of McCain’s recent public statements by White House officials, coupled with information from intelligence personnel working with the Trump administration, paints a disturbing picture for McCain — or any elected U.S. politician. Officials believe the senator has inside knowledge of a number of President Trump’s telephone conversations, including at least one conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Even more alarming, officials believe McCain is secretly sharing this sensitive information with colleagues and his cabal of friendly mainstream media journalists in a dangerous clandestine campaign to damage Trump’s presidency even before it has a chance to succeed. Trump has been searching for media rats in the Beltway in recent weeks. White House aides are confident they have now outed one of the major leaks plaguing the early days of the Trump presidency. To everyone’s surprise, it is a senior senator supposedly belonging to the same side of the political aisle as the president.
McCain has been lambasting Trump to anyone and everyone who will listen since the newly minted president’s inauguration. This includes a Russian comedian who pranked McCain posing as Ukraine Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. Even during that troubling conversation, where McCain shared sensitive U.S. intelligence with an imposter, White House aides said McCain unknowingly exposed himself as having inside knowledge of Trump’s telephone conversations.
Like Our News? Then Help Support Our Independent Journalism!
“He has been given transcripts or actually listened to the calls and is sharing what he has heard,” an administration insider said. “There is no doubt. He is one of the major leaks.”
Just last week, True Pundit published a troubling account of how a Russian comedian duped McCain, the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. McCain incredibly even coached the phone-prankster-posing Prime Minister on joining NATO.
This audio recording of the phone call is absolutely incredible.
It’s time for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to determine the level McCain’s involvement and just how many laws he has broken.

The John Nolte piece linked at 3:17 and the Kurt Schlichter piece at 4:12 pretty much sum up my attitude.
After 8 years of Zippy, and basically being told to sit down and STFU while the prog machine shoved shit sandwiches down our throat, I'm ready for seeing the machine steamrollered.
Not all that picky about what model steamroller gets used.
Trump model steamroller is rough around the edges, but made from heavy gauge steel. So far, deflecting the incoming and continuing to make forward progress.

Another story I'd missed, only a couple of days old: For all the clueless misfit westerners going over and joining ISIS, there are also people like Nicholas Warden and Robert Grodt, who went over and joined the Kurds fighting ISIS, and gave their lives. I hate to link WaPo, but this is worth reading:

A couple threads back in talking about some news article somebody mispelled the word 'story' as 'stroy.' That made me laugh as it struck me that a 'stroy,' as in destroy is exactly what we might call every story put out by the Times, the WaPo, and CNN---nothing but 'stroy' after 'stroy' after 'story,' intentionally fabricated by journalistic assasins to specifically destroy Trump.
If we need a new cromulent word in order to give a heads up on what we are about to read from the usual suspects, I recommend 'stroy.'

Like too many airhead celebrities who think people care what they think about anything, mainstream journalists are of one mind: get rid of Trump by any means, the ends will be justifiable. I woke up this morning with a revelation. (I'm probably late to the party)
The left is staging a coup.
I think that we should recognize that, address it, and talk about it endlessly until every American is aware of it - as common knowledge.
I think we need to ask democrats about it endlessly, and ask them is they plan to overturn the constitution if they win, and make them reveal their plans.
We need a movement like the tea party to remind Americans every day that the democrats want to overthrow this country and replace it with ...
Who knows?
Let the people decide.

So what if good people are maligned, their careers ruined, their jobs lost?
And this is why I have no respect at all for any MSM outlet; and why I would be happy to see libel laws expanded.
Because the MSM has absolutely no regard for the people who may be harmed by their stories, and no remorse when it turns out they were wrong.

"The kind of persons our students will become" should not come in by stealth sold as a fiscal measure.

I repeat to myself regularly what someone said is the definition of A friend: Someone who, when you make an ass of yourself, realizes it is not a permanent job.
My first job as boss is to see if an employee who makes a mistake is coachable. Then, try to develop a more successful employee.
It is time to fire someone when that person realizes that he/she does not have the skill set or temperament for the job.
So I wouldn’t fire today, but tomorrow is a possibility.

Someone give Chris Stirewalt some Kat Timpf glasses. What a boob. I'm sad he didn't follow his girlfriend Megan over to NBC.

Does anyone here know anything about Deepwater wind farms? (They just constructed a wind farm off Block Island.). They are trying to put a wind farm off East Hampton, and have the support of Gov. Cuomo and the democrat-controlled town board.
Local fishermen are fighting for their commercial lives against the turbines, since the high-voltage cables will be running right through the fishing (and cod-egg-laying) areas under the ocean, bays, and wetlands off EH. Fishermen claim Deepwater has donated to Cuomo, as they donated to the Rhode Islanders who rammed the Block Island project through.
All the greenies in town are salivating for the off-shore "windmills."
Anyway, went to a meeting about it last night and would really appreciate any input. Jack? Do you know anything about any of this?
Thanks!

Katherine Herridge's report was simply that it was the Lynch DOJ that allowed this Russian Babe to enter. We already knew that, so maybe there's something else.

daddu,
No kidding. Just woke up in time for the coverage from Fox, which I have on a live stream.
Perfect comment about Stirewalt. He used to be Megy Kelly's go-to guy for politics when she had her show on Fox.
And who is the other guy they had on? Rich Lowry, notorious purveyor of the NR "Against Trump" issue.
I am pretty glad I am not paying for this coverage. HA!

tonto,
Will cross post on new thread also.
Grybowski, the CEO of Deepwater, is a slick deal maker out of NYC but I think they are now in Providence. That farm is only 30MW. May be just enough to power Block Island and some of RI but is meaningless.
He has GE behind him. It's their turbines and they think wind is the "green" future while they know that their gas turbines and steam turbines are the real future world-wide. Playing both sides down the middle. Without GE he has nada.
Bad idea to push this to the South Fork. Why not erect them on Plum Island?
Will ask around to friends and see what they know.

Returning to inapt sports metaphors, how about "An hour to play and the last man in"?
