This is not the news with which we want to open football training camps:
110 N.F.L. Brains
A neuropathologist has examined the brains of 111 N.F.L. players — and 110 were found to have C.T.E., the degenerative disease linked to repeated blows to the head.
Dr. Ann McKee, a neuropathologist, has examined the brains of 202 deceased football players. A broad survey of her findings was published on Tuesday in The Journal of the American Medical Association.
Of the 202 players, 111 of them played in the N.F.L. — and 110 of those were found to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or C.T.E., the degenerative disease believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head.
Eventually they discuss the obvious selection bias issue:
The set of players posthumously tested by Dr. McKee is far from a random sample of N.F.L. retirees. “There’s a tremendous selection bias,” she has cautioned, noting that many families have donated brains specifically because the former player showed symptoms of C.T.E.
But 110 positives remain significant scientific evidence of an N.F.L. player’s risk of developing C.T.E., which can be diagnosed only after death. About 1,300 former players have died since the B.U. group began examining brains. So even if every one of the other 1,200 players had tested negative — which even the heartiest skeptics would agree could not possibly be the case — the minimum C.T.E. prevalence would be close to 9 percent, vastly higher than in the general population.
Can Coca Cola and the NFL endure another fifty years?
They will be left with only a small particle of brain at this, head exploding

This is a pretty interesting ADN story, explaining a phone call that both Alaska Senators received from Interior Secretary Zinke, shortly after Lisa Murkowski voted NOT to Repeal ObamaCare, opposite of her previous votes to Repeal ObamaCare:
Trump administration signals that Murkowski’s health care vote could have energy repercussions for Alaska
Trump isn't going to just let Sen. Lisa Murkowski's no vote on Tuesday's health care motion go.
Early Wednesday, Trump took to Twitter to express displeasure with Murkowski's vote. By that afternoon, each of Alaska's two Republican senators had received a phone call from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke letting them know the vote had put Alaska's future with the administration in jeopardy...
Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan said the call from Zinke heralded a "troubling message."
"I'm not going to go into the details, but I fear that the strong economic growth, pro-energy, pro-mining, pro-jobs and personnel from Alaska who are part of those policies are going to stop," Sullivan said.
The Interior secretary also contacted Murkowski, he said.
Murkowski was not available for comment.

Ben Shapiro: Why The Left Protects Islam
Why does the left seek to support radical Islam so ardently? Because the left believes that the quickest way to destroy Western civilization is no longer class warfare but multicultural warfare: Simply ally with groups that hate the prevailing system and work with them to take it down.
http://www.investors.com/politics/columnists/ben-shapiro-why-the-left-protects-islam/
Shapiro is going to have another opportunity to speak at UC Berkeley. It will be interesting to see if this time California can muster up the courage to allow him to speak on the hallowed ground of this campus where in the 1960's 'free speech' became a rallying cry of the left.

This is the statement from Awan's attorney (who is a Clinton attorney):
The attacks on Mr. Awan and his family began as part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives.
For months we have had utterly unsupported, outlandish, and slanderous statements
targeting Mr. Awan coming not just from the ultra-right-wing “pizzagate” media but from
sitting members of congress. Now we have the Justice Department showing up with a
complaint about disclosures on a modest real estate matter.

Why in the world did he bring up pizzagate in this statement? Seems to me that calling attention to that theory is the last thing one would want to do.

I respect him for not telling me because I understand journalistic integrity. However, when I put out a tweet, I put Reince’s name in a tweet, they make the assumption it’s him because journalists know who the leakers are. JiB,
If Scaramucci is following the Trump playbook, which looks to me to be the case, then the misinformation is deliberately planted to get everyone talking about the error and the story thus blows up.
This morning everyone is talking about whether Reince Priebus is a leaker.
Posted by: Porchlight | July 27, 2017 at 09:41 AM
As Chief of Staff, Priebus would be at the heart of many if not all of these issues. Stories have not been favorable about him since the inauguration.
Perhaps the President wants a new Chief of Staff. Doesn't require Senate approval.
Just a wild idea, but most presidents have an inner circle, a kitchen cabinet. With all the inaction by the Congress and the sub par performance of a certain cabinet secretaries and his assistant, maybe it's time for the President to go around them all. Secretary Zinke showed how that works last night with his calls to the two Alaska Senators. I wouldn't be surprised if the President turned the tables on all of them and shook up their little trades union.
If President Trump can get an investigation going into leaks working through Scaramucci and the FBI, and follow that trail back to the known suspects, he won't need Sessions. He and Rosenstein and Mueller can play gin rummy while the President cleans up the town and makes them look like fools. Resignations would be their only way out; the public would demand it.
