As Special Counsel Mueller looks high and low for crimes associated with Trump's alleged Russian collusion he might want to peek at this:
Comey’s private memos on Trump conversations contained classified material
Ooops! But nevermind. I am confident that the unified Republican/Democratic/Washington establishment will distinguish between minor crimes committed in the pursuit of the Greater Good and REAL CRIMES, such as anything at all they can stick on Trump.
In fact, I think the vigorous deposition of Comey by Team Mueller was filmed back in 1939.
First ever first! And only TM's engaged blogging in making it possible!

Speaking of crimes....
" It appears that whoever the perp was he opened a Credit Card..."
You can put a security freeze on your credit report with the three main credit bureaus. No business can access your credit report until you remove the freeze. So no one can open a new credit card or take out a loan until the freeze is lifted. Depending on your state the freeze removal (temporary or permanent) may be free or cost a small amount ($5-$10). I believe it is free to place the freeze initially.
Yes, it can be a small hassle if you need a business to access your credit (e.g. new cell phone provider, auto loan, mortgage), but for most, those are infrequent enough it is not a big hassle. The freezes and be placed and removed relatively quickly online (< 1 hour most times). The freeze can be temporarily lifted for a set time period (e.g. 1 week, 1 day) or for a specific business (e.g. Citibank). If you know which credit bureau the business will use, you only need to lift the freeze for that one bureau.

Ghaaa! Bad ID theft info from Scoop Johnson. Go to FTC.gov. Also CFPB.
"Fraud Alert", which is what they call them at credit reporting agencies, can be placed for free, for 6 months, at any one of the agencies and it will be honored by all 3. They will call if an application has been made in your name and SSN. You can reload it, for free, after expiration, for another 6 months.
Lifelock will do the exact same free "thing" you can do, for a "small monthly fee".

I had a few cases in Nantucket District Court - probably 15-20 years ago. Anyway I had some interesting observations.
About that long ago Nantucket decided to build some low income housing - and invite low income families from other places in MA to apply for it.
Sometime after it was occupied, I was in court one morning. It's a small court so they do the arraignments before they get to the civil stuff. I noticed that everyone in court was black. I didn't recall ever seeing a black person in Nantucket court before.
So I asked the clerk if Nantucket had suddenly become racist or something else was going on.
According to the clerk that trend began and continued since the low income housing was built.

Ig, basically they are the same people we have in Potomac and DC. But the weather is nicer up here.
I know, I know. I am a sucker for traditions, especially family traditions.
As to who wears the pants...you have forgotten I'm sure a story I told JOM long long time ago about my wedding. Since it was out of town, when we got back to DC my in laws threw a party for us at Ft. McNair so we could meet all their friends, mostly from their lives since West Point '36. Lots and lots of stars there, including the guy who was my FIL's boss during the war. Everybody here is familiar with the nature of the wives of the big shots on a base, so when I found myself at the bar with this long retired general, I asked him the secret to his 50 years with Alice.
He said "it is easy, OL. As the Base Commander, Alice always allowed me to make the big decisions and she was then able to make all the small decisions. Oh. She was the sole judge on which decisions are big and which are small."

peter-my middle child that I call red wore a scoliosis brace for 20 hours a day for years starting at age 8 and ultimately also had the surgery 6 years ago between her junior and sophomore years in high school.
I know lots about the subject and will be thinking of your son tomorrow. One thing I did that I would also recommend for you was to keep a legal pad in his room so that whomever gives him any medicine once he gets home writes down what, when, and how much.
It helps your family and the doctor see patterns and means that the spouses and siblings know what someone else has done. Red was thin but her big brother came home after the hospital and there is some lifting involved initially. Make sure you have someone available to help lift from the other side who will not end up hurting themselves.
You will also want him to take his xrays back to school with him. His surgery will likely give him some rights under ADA such as to dorms that are closer to campus as a reasonable accommodation.
red simply did not participate in the room draw each year and picked a room in a close in dorm. When the housing dean failed to get back to her after numerous requests I looked up the university's GC and sent her one of my nice letter's on reasonable accommodation. Copied the dean of students.

I do agree, DrJ, though I've been pretty lucky, plus my field tends to be less out there than the humanities or softer social sciences. In my first job a lot of my colleagues were Chicago-trained or Chicago-affinity. At my current institution my colleagues in the department are sane (of course I hired them), in most other departments they're pretty hard left, but the undergrads are actually less so. Early this year a student group invited Ben Shapiro out, and faculty complained and sent a whiny letter around lamenting that Shapiro was supposedly spoke disrespectfully about trannies (he said that gender dysphoria is a mental illness) and students applauded him.

You've been luckier than I have been.
I've worked with academics in the hard sciences from around the country, and while they are not as "out there" as the humanities, no one would confuse them with being conservative. I run into one every now and again, but it is pretty rare.
