Peter Baker of the failing NY Times selects a few dots to create a "Russians Are Coming" timeline as part of the ongoing "Dump Trump" resistance. Their low water mark is this:
June 7
After several more emails, Mr. Trump and Mr. Goldstone agreed to a meeting at Trump Tower on the afternoon of June 9 with what Mr. Goldstone described as a “Russian government attorney who is flying over from Moscow.” Mr. Trump said he would probably be joined by Paul J. Manafort, the campaign chairman, and Jared Kushner, his brother-in-law, who would later become a White House senior adviser.
That evening, the Republican primary season wrapped up with contests in five states. Mr. Trump, the presidential candidate, took the stage in New York and focused on Mrs. Clinton.
“I am going to give a major speech on probably Monday of next week, and we’re going to be discussing all of the things that have taken place with the Clintons,” he said.
“Hillary Clinton turned the State Department into her private hedge fund — the Russians, the Saudis, the Chinese — all gave money to Bill and Hillary, and got favorable treatment in return.”
Wait, what! Trump knew Hillary might have Russian scandals?!? How did he guess? (Hold that thought!)
Not even the Times could keep a straight face on this one. Later in the story they kinda sorta swing around to the blindingly obvious:
June 13
Mr. Trump, the candidate, ended up not giving the “major speech” about Mrs. Clinton’s dealings with Russia and other countries, despite his promise. Mrs. Clinton’s campaign spent the day waiting for the attack.
“We were very concerned about it,” Ms. Palmieri said. “We put a team together.” The campaign figured the attack would be a reprise of some of the allegations raised a year earlier in a book called “Clinton Cash” by Peter Schweizer, so Mrs. Clinton’s advisers drafted responses and recruited surrogates to go on television to defend her.
“Then the day came, and I was in the room with Hillary, and we’re monitoring what he said, and he didn’t do anything,” Ms. Palmieri said.
On Wednesday, the White House said Mr. Trump had switched speeches because of the mass shooting at an Orlando, Fla., nightclub the day before.
Hmm, "a reprise of some of the allegations" raised by "Clinton Cash"? That gives pretty short shrift to what was presented as a major NY Times story (with follow-up and a cool graphic) about the Clintons, the Canadians, some mysterious Clinton Foundation donors, and some uranium mines.
And its a good thing Peter Baker called the Times for a clarification of Trump's June 2016 speech choices. Otherwise, how could anyone figure out what Trump said or why?
Mr. Baker comes to the promised speech on July 22:
The same day, Mr. Trump delivered the speech denouncing Mrs. Clinton’s ethics that he had promised earlier, relying mainly on “Clinton Cash” and other known controversies linked to her.
But nowhere today do they find the pixels to explain the screaming Russian scandal that "everyone" knew about at the time. Bah. Let's play "Connect some of the dots" - fun for all!
First?

● 1) The Founders exempted themselves for the eligibility requirement due to their seemingly split loyalties that were resolved by a national naturalization act called the Declaration of Independence.
● 50) A dual-citizen who doesn't fit The Founder's eligibility requirements, and wasn't alive during the exemption period, is allowed to have the keys to The Whitehouse.

Grybowski, the CEO of Deepwater, is a slick deal maker out of NYC but I think they are now in Providence. That farm is only 30MW. May be just enough to power Block Island and some of RI but is meaningless.
He has GE behind him. It's their turbines and they think wind is the "green" future while they know that their gas turbines and steam turbines are the real future world-wide. Playing both sides down the middle. Without GE he has nada.
Bad idea to push this to the South Fork. Why not erect them on Plum Island?
Will ask around to friends and see what they know.

David Goldman
David Goldman :I stopped caring about what Krauthead had to say a dozen years ago, when he co-authored the Bush 2nd Inaugural -- the dumbest speech ever given by an American president. Russia is a pain in the neck today because Bush wasted $4 trillion and thousands of lives on stupid adventures, as advised by Krauthammer. Russia is responding to the fact -- document by Gen. Flynn -- that the US de facto enabled the rise of Sunni jihadism. That is an existential threat to Russia. We also sponsored the Maidan Square coup, hoping to deprive Russia of its warm-water port. Putin is a bad guy, but he has mainly reacted to our stupidities. Most of what Putin has done, I also would have done in his place.

Listening to Yellen's testimony, had to sit through a 5-minute harangue against banks by Red Squaw. But Yellen seems to be buying in to the Zippy "ATMs cause job losses" theory, saying that the long-term decline in labor force participation has a technological basis.
Also lots of talk about the impact of the opioid crisis on prime-age male participation. Hard to believe that's a big part of the story, compared to all the regulation and high taxes that make employing people barely feasible.

Clarice,
Here is the exchange between Tucker Carlson and Max Boot last night or the night before (not sure which).
I highly recommend watching this. I have avoided the Never Trump crowd pretty much, but it got retweeted this morning andso I watched it. He is totally deranged about Putin.
Boot also was Romney's foreign policy adviser! My gosh, we dodged a bullet in 2012, even though we got Obama. This guy acts like we should go to war with Russia!

MM,
Interesting discussion Tucker had with Max Boot.
So, let me see if I get this straight: The reason Trump won was Russia as a threat to our democracy and the reason Obama won in 2012 was he discounted Russia as a threat but Romney did and lost.
The juxtaposition of those two sentiments is just surreal.
Posted by: Jim Eagle | July 13, 2017 at 11:07 AM
Jane,
I found that seriously disturbing. The little bit I saw of Ralph Peters on that clip (as in a review of the "Hitler" thing that group is pushing about Putin) was also scary.
I understand being wary of Putin. No one thinks he will be our bestest friend ever. But for goodness sake, pushing a Cold War-type crisis over unproven interference, is simply nuts. Even if they DID attempt to interfere, not one person has explained HOW they interfered! And Obama felt like telling them "knock it off" was enough, so whatever it seems they did (which again has still not been explained) wasn't enough to do much of anything. Until, of course, Trump won.
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | July 13, 2017 at 11:08 AM
I just muted Julie Banderas and will go back to the news conference at 12:30.
Apparently now they are saying Jared Kushner's digital operation targeted voters with "fake news" (the original fake news, not what it now means) and they had Russian help to do that.
Well, what exactly were voters told that was fake? Was it the rumors about her health? That proved to be somewhat true as seen when she collapsed last September 11. Was it the "pay for play" of the Clinton Foundation?" That is pretty much indisputable, given the uranium sale to the RUSSIANS.
The ONLY thing I can think of that might have been bogus was the human trafficking thing, and that, indeed, could have been Russian agents dropping hints on various sites. However, I don't think that had that much effect on the election because it was such a bizarre story that I didn't even repeat what I had read, because I thought people would think I was crazy.
The entire thing seems to me to be a series of stories based on nothing but innuendo. As I predicted, they are now going after jared Kushner. I hope Tiffany doesn't have a Russian boyfriend at Georgetown.

mm-something I read yesterday, I believe from Finland but with North American consultants including Harvard, MIT, and Western Michigan, talked about the need to get control over the Internet to prevent the dissemination of false information. It brought up the 2016 Presidential elections and Brexit as examples of what can happen without such control.
It was hard not to think it will be ABC or CNN's definition of what is true or false. It makes sense though as an attempt to do to adults what education globally intends to do to the children. Control what gets noticed or ignored and what concepts get used to interpret daily experiences.

Re the Mad Men era and 1974, I visited a railroad for the first time that year. We met with the bestest Chief Engineer of the time, R.M. Brown of the Union Pacific Railroad. Dark paneled offices, shiny suits and ties (even out on the track!), MALE secretaries. At lunchtime, he invites us to his club around the corner. The 3-4 UP guys knocked back two or three stiff drinks while us dweeby researchers sipped on one each and felt wobbly on the way back to the office. Thinking back, those were fat doubles.
Fast forward a decade and working on our first project in Scotland, my British Rail associates and I pop into the nearby pub for a pint and a plowman's special for lunch every day. Fast forward a couple more years and a secretary not working on the track would be fired for going into a pub for tea. I'm sure millions of lives were saved from that.

Re: the rumored kaboom, DOJ charging 400+ people with health fraud crimes may not be "it," but it's still great to see.
Especially for those who are down on Sessions for not doing anything.
Remember, the left in 2009 expected Bush and Cheney to be frogmarched for war crimes "any minute now." It never happened. But Obama's DoJ was quite busy with their agenda nonetheless, sadly for the country.
IOW, it shouldn't be news that much of what is happening will be behind the scenes until it isn't. Trump has said a thousand times that he does not like to telegraph his moves.

Rush now calling it a "silent coup!"

Westworld was the only one I'm familiar with, it made explicit what Crichton only suggested

I will post the transcript and video of the press conference when it's available President Trump seems very relaxed, handled the Russia question.
Gives a very spirited endorsement of Macron on terrorism. (Original criticisms of France were done when Hollande was president, for context.)

Macron tries to talk some sense into American journalists about Russia.

What I do not understand about the coup is why Trump is not rallying his voters to oppose it and thereby remind the a**hole republicans what they were elected to accomplish. I remain frustrated that the Trump who became a billionaire (ice rink in ten minutes), and the Trump who vanquished all opponents during a grueling race to the WH by essentially collecting a coalition of MAGA voters and demonstrating the the uniparty go-along-to-get-along strategy is a loser - is not the Trump we see governing day to day.
I will be quiet now so MM can yell at me.
:-)

I read from a very questionable source that Comey has received immunity from Mueller?
Might this be the kaboom?
I'm not seeing the good news in that.

A-Bob...that would not surprise me or anyone else who is certain the Mueller hire was to bring down Trump. They don't even pretend anymore.

Caro, If this takes off you can make a fortune!

Thanks, Jack. This is an emotional, elemental issue for the fishermen and baymen and I'd like to find a way to help out. But first I need to know real facts; not just feelings.
Really appreciate any input, as I said. Do you think Deepwater would bribe Cuomo ? As far as Cuomo goes, all you have to do is ask. The town board changed on a dime once Cuomo announced his support.

President Macron and Don Jr. are the same age.

"I read from a very questionable source that Comey has received immunity"
The isssue with immunity is what was the quid pro quo. With all of the grants by the Obama DoJ the answers seems to have been 'nothing.'

Le Jules Verne? Muh.
Great views though. A little too over-played where the food is compensated by the view from La Tour Eiffel. You can get Michelin stars all kind of ways.
"Coup? Hell No. MAGA? Hell Yes."

Stop the democrat coup!
