Don Trump Jr. has unleashed a monster story. He would "love" dirt ostensibly from the Russian attorney general's office? IIRC, on Twitter this gets an "RUFKM?"
It would take a hungry prosecutor to turn this into a criminal case but a hungry prosecutor is exactly what we've got.

Consider:
1. the Russian gal is linked to Fusion GPS of"dossier" production
2. the email chain shows lots of "intercept me" stuff on the non Don Jr side-- Russian Government mentioned in each response.
3. It was leaked to the NYT (by Comey?)
Sounds like a set up to use to "discover" then present as evidence for the need for a FISA warrant vs Trump family / associates. Didn't Comey try for one around mid June? Would you believe pure fabrication to enable political espionage against the Trump campaign / transition team? I do.

Posted by: Captain Hate | July 11, 2017 at 12:59 PM
How is alleged evidence of collusion between Hillary and the Russians from the email turned into evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians?
Posted by: Rajimov | July 11, 2017 at 01:01 PM
This is a comment on the Don Jr. emails over on CTH. It's long, but well worth considering.
"No doubt some of you may have seen that Trump Jnr has just released his entire email chain concerning his supposed collusion with Russian government officials to get dirt on Clinton.
The legacy media have predictably jumped on this as smoking gun evidence of Russian government officials working with Trump to bring down Clinton.
They’re so blinded by their hatred / TDS that they have completely failed to see what’s going on here.
Remember, Treepers – principle #1 , as demonstrated by Sundance ad nauseam : Trump is a strategic genius – nothing happens on his team without his express authority and meticulous planning.
Now note #2 – this is a deliberate release of Trump Jnrs email chain by the Trump camp. It comes after a NYT story reporting on it after receiving leaks, with Trump Jnr’s explanation that the meeting was odd – and (important!) suggestions that this might be a set-up.
In other words, the release has been pre-planned by Trump & Bannon.
Now, a question – if the content of the email had any truth to it, why would Trump Jnr release this? On the advice of lawyers? Doubtful. To quell speculation? They know full well that this release will do the exact opposite. And if it would damage his son, would Trump approve it’s release – again, no.
So why release it? It makes Trump look weak. It plays into the collusion smear. It emboldens his enemies, who assume their great enemy is weak.
Stop there.
What does Sun Tzu say? Make your enemies believe you are weak.
He also says to strike when your enemies least expect it.
Which is where we need to consider Trump’s objective in releasing the email chain/ statement via his son.
First point – Trump Jnr is strongly suggesting that this was a deliberate set up. The email and statement are very carefully linked to suggest this.
Second point – Trump Snr tweeted about Comey’s leaking just a few days ago, out of the blue.
Third point – Trump Snr tweeted about Podesta and the DNC server issue in the last few days.
Fourth point – Trump Jnr hasn’t done anything wrong at all. He’s doing far less than Clinton did with the Ukrainian government.
Connect the dots, Treepers.
What if Trump already knows (and has certain proof) that this entire meeting was a deliberate entrapment of his son by the DNC & Clinton campaign, working with Fusion GPS.
That the meeting was set up in the exact period of the so-called DNC ‘hack’ by ‘The Russians’, which started the fake Trump/Russia smear nonsense off in the first place.
That the NYT story is a deep state (Comey or Mueller) leak. How on earth did the NYT get access to Trump Jnrs email chain?
Hell, what if he knows EVERYTHING, including the DNC server, Clintons missing emails, the lot. What if he’s known for a long time. As I’ve been saying on these threads a long time, I think he does and has been waiting for the right time to begin the attack (calibrated to decimate the Dems & RINOs before the midterms).
He could follow the conventional route, of course. Make an allegation. But that’s not his style and it gives his enemies too much room to slime out of trouble. A far more effective strategy is to hang this out as bait, luring his enemies to shout they have smoking gun evidence, before demonstrating that the same enemies fabricated the evidence and tried to entrap his son.
Bring down NYT, Podesta, the DNC & Comey in one strike. Then go 100% into ClintonGate and ObamaGate.
Don’t bet against it. My prediction – this will turn out to be an extremely clever move by Trump Snr."

From the Circa story that came out the same day as the original NYT email article it does seems like the Trump team had been investigating the origins of the meeting long before the NYT published the story.
From Circa article:
"“We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” said Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. ""
"These developments raise serious issues as to exactly who authorized and participated in any effort by Russian nationals to influence our election in any manner,” Corallo said.

Daddy, NSA screens of all international [or as some believe, simply all] communications based of whatever trigger words or phrases they look for. So if each email includes the words "Russian Government" it is guaranteed to be flagged by NSA for review. So a chain of emails from a guy in England that mention "Russian Government" in each exchange provides NSA with a pattern of flagged comms that will score higher for investigation. ie It is bait for a FISA warrant.
Posted by: henry | July 11, 2017 at 02:32 PM

That the e-mails were intentionally written to be flagged by the NSA, presumably.

Rumors of the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi have floated for weeks, with Russia insisting that one of its air strikes took out the self-proclaimed "caliph" of ISIS last month.
Just a few days ago, the terror organization executed one of its preachers for accidentally referencing Baghdadi's death.
Today, however, Iraqi News picked up reports from the city of Tal Afar that ISIS has announced the death of its leader.

intentionally written to be flagged by the NSA
JimmyK,
Intentionally written by who?
Don Jr? or this Rob Goldstone guy? Or the Russians? I remain confused.
Is the assumption now that Goldstone was intentionally writing these E-Mails in order to draw the attention of NSA types to look at these E-Mails? If so, who are we supposed to think Goldstone, whoever he is, was working for?
If anyone could explain it in very, very, very simple terms I would appreciate it.
Posted by: daddy | July 11, 2017 at 02:38 PM
Ok..the email was sent to Don Jr 6-3-16 from a previous business assoc(a media biz from U.K.) an atty (crown atty denotes U.K. To me, not Russian)..wants to meet w oppo research ..
Don Jr, Jared & Manafort meet with lady atty seeking meetup---they exchange niceties--the Russia-born--now U.K. Affirmed atty then proceeds into Magnitsky Act territory--Don Jr? Pshaws the lady and leaves (10 min at most meeting)
Life goes to on. Hillary crashes on her own failures. Trump wins--but the manipulators of "real power"--Obama, Brennan, Clapper & Comey have their false witness setup acquired blackmail, in hand to use against "real change and accountability " a Trump Presidency could bring to DC. How would their collaborators/donors expecting a Hillary status quo like that? Would the parasites at DOJ, IC, Kstreet be able to continue their control and private slush funds, with someone else in charge, say like Mike Flynn or Jeff Sessions? Who was going to employ more Mooks, Stuart Stevens, scmidtts or corrupt spies like Christopher Steele? My, God---what about our excuse of an important man, ObamA? How will he become a millionaire without being able to afford fiction writer Ben Rhodes, or Rasputin Valerie Jarret? Where were the pallets of cash for Iran coming from now?
I would start, Mr. Mueller with : why is Russian-born UK crown attorney accompanying Obama's Ambassador to Russia, and taking notes in a foreign relations committee meeting on June 14, 2016---6 days after DonJr walked out of setup to be used later meeting, with same paid operative? Foolish mistake--on tape--in public, associating with same operative now ready to spill the beans on GPS Fusion, et al !!!
Also, GPS was working for !Jeb then Rubio, then Cruz before Hillary'16 were handed their Trump oppo research. It's really a deep, dark swamp President Trump is fighting in DC....

As henry says, in this case it seems to be the Goldstone character. I am not clear on what his role is, i.e. whether someone got him to try to manipulate DT Jr., or whether he was actively in cahoots with some outfit like Fusion GPS.

I just happened to be watching Fox from 12:01--12:15 cst, when dates of Jr's email-of 6-3-2016-his meeting w Russian lady ( not Russia KGB) 6 days later, and video of same Russian lady accompanying Obama's Ambassador to Russia, Mike Mc Faul.?spelling? 5 days hence on 6-14-2016 to a Foreign relations committee meeting. And sitting directly behind ambassador throughout(next to his son and where family or associates sit) during his testimony.

So the Goldstone guy was the guy who 'allegedly' intentionally put Dog Whistle type words in his e-mails to Don Jr in order to get them noticed by the NSA, apparently so that they could then be referred to a FISA Judge who would authorize the FBI or the NSA or the CIA to start eavesdropping on any conversations that Don JR or Manafort or Kushner then had. Something like that?
OK. At least it makes some sense. So when do we learn more about Goldstone?
