Beasts of England

Not sure I wanna be first...

henry

At least our Afghan policy going forward is not micromanaged by the Rhodes level dbags of the Obama/ Hilligula regime.

Marlene

Does it seem unusual that the entire cabinet is attending the speech?

 narciso.

Those more in the know than I:
www.weeklystandard.com/sending-more-troops-to-afghanistan-is-a-good-start/article/2009364

Eight years later I'm not to sanguine even with ghani in charge nominally

henry

A major policy speech? Full cabinet makes sense to me. This is unity on policy, not chaos as imagined by fake news everywhere.

 narciso.

So the abc poll dialed to eleven.

GUS

Andersons' Pooper is waxing nostalgic with his knowledge of Taliban battle prowess!!
They are doing well on "THE BATTLEFIELD".
Yes Andy, is your TRUST FUND, slavery BASED???

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

They're not more in the know than a bag of rocks, narc.
It is not a shameful thing to admit the truth that Afghanistan is not a winnable war.
The country is too shattered and backwards to stand on its own for decades at least.
With Iran and Pakistan on its borders there is no way to stop the enemy from fading into the scenery and waiting.
It has been unconquerable forever. Even those willing to destroy it utterly just get absorbed by it.
For what?

We have no sane strategy in the ME outside of Israel and maybe Egypt and haven't for decades.

 narciso.

Probably so, the sanctarues may have been there five years ago, but Barcelona, Milan and molenbeek are the new front lines, where was imam El satty last year?

Captain Hate

The plan is simple: Declare Afghanistan the 51st state. Next, erect The Jefferson Davis Memorial Monument and Theme park. Wait for the protesters to arrive, then bomb the shit out of it. Lastly, grant Afghanistan independence and remove all troops, while scuttling every runway, road and power plant on the way out.

Great Trump speech. No more telegrahing our plans. Works for me.

Threadkiller

Bold pre-dick-tion: Hughsless Blewitt will beg to have Trump's baby for his next flip-flop-flip pronouncement.

henry

I note no mention of 4000 troops headed that way.

maryrose

I just feel so much more confident with President Trump in the White House.
For so long under Obama ,the feckless one, I felt like no one was protecting our great country

maryrose

I feel like history is repeating itself with Muslim invasions.
Places like Molenbeek should not exist.
We need.a 21st century Crusades.

Threadkiller

Birthers exude confidence. Ineligible presidents don't.

maryrose

I wonder if Obama's real ineligibility will ever be honestly revealed.
If it is ,how do we incorporate it into history?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Beautiful speech.

My favorite part was when he said we are no longer in the business of nation-building; we are in the business of killing terrorists.

 narciso.

The hammer in Syria, were the Russians, will they provide logistical support in their frm bailiwick?

maryrose

Holder and Lynch were such losers that I was embarassed by their unethical behavior.
Some Dems like Pelosi, Franken and Warren are just a disgrace.

maryrose

President Trump is correct.
We must eradicate terrorists.

Dave (in MA)

No more "Pockistahn".

Threadkiller

I wonder if Obama's real ineligibility will ever be honestly revealed.
If it is ,how do we incorporate it into history?

I will do The ECLectric Slide on Fuddy's grave.

Jim Eagle

narc,

You forget. Trump is in Vlad's pocket.

Clarice Feldman

Maybe now that the Awan Bros no longer have access to Congressional computers, we have a chance.

maryrose

I feel hopeful.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Good point, Clarice.

As predicted, the keyboard experts from the alt right are insulting the President because he isn't withdrawing. To heck with them.

Barbara

I just feel so much more confident with President Trump in the White House.

So do I, maryrose.

I thought it was an excellent speech, and a daring one as well. The presence of his cabinet, the Vice President, and the NSA lent strong backing to what President Trump said.

Beasts of England

'I will do The ECLectric Slide on Fuddy's grave.'

:)

maryrose

Clarice:
There is a huge story there with the Aswan brothers.
All will be revealed in time.

Barbara

If it is ,how do we incorporate it into history?

TK,

Like we've done with other similar misfortunes. Dress it up and bury it.

henry

remote control of body movement. They have mice set up so a remote overrides the critter's brain. Uses magnets. Interesting science, yet spooky.

Ooops, forgot to invest in tinfoil before posting.

maryrose

It is like the past 8 years we have had an imposter pretending to be president and doing everything the wrong way.

Dave (in MA)

Little Juan is sad that there's no more timeline, and that the military will get what they need.

Exdemocrat

Nice warning shot to Pakistan.

Aka, Awan bothers' home nation.

Exdemocrat

Remember that the Awan's abused stepmother testified that they travelled with an official security detail when in Pakistan

Barbara

I should have addressed my last comment to maryrose.

That's what I get for scanning the comments too quickly.

maryrose

I hope history views it as a pseudo- presidency and all acts or laws connected to it are declared null and void.

maryrose

Graham said on tv that soldiers could see a terrorist and not be able to kill him.
Say what?

maryrose

I think Pakistan has some of our security secrets thanks to dum dum wasserman- schultz

Captain Hate

I have zero confidence that justice will be done in the Awan case. In fact this is probably where Elmer Fudd should recuse himself since his Uniparty buddies are all implicated in it.

It's just not gonna happen so to hell with getting hopes up that it will.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

maryrose,

That was Obama's rules of engagement. They had to run it by JAG so by the time they got permission to attack, the terrorist had either escaped or blown something up.

By the way, I think your term "pseudo-presidency" is genius! I think I will start using it!

maryrose

MM:
What would have happened if they just killed the terrorist?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

maryrose,

Court martial.

Captain Hate

Our son described having a perfect head shot on a Taliban douche who was standing on the roof of a village building.

He was ORDERED not to take the shot, because ROE. So, as he drove his lead vehicle into the village, a round hit his bullet proof driver's side window.

His Sgt. said, "Shit's gettin' real" and cranked up some music.

That's not how the hell you win wars. Our troops knew it then, and know it now.

maryrose

CH:
I cannot accept that outcome because then I will have to see true justice as a mockery in this instance.
This is criminal wrongdoing and to ignore it or accept it on any level is to forfeit our liberty.

maryrose

Bergdahl' s trial is in October.
Who wants to bet on the outcome?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Guys, I am tired so am heading to bed.

I am very happy that we have a real leader as commander-in-chief who understands the difficulty and the situation as it stands.

Nytol!

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

We will not win in Afghanistan much more effectively now, and that is not a small thing.
We will at least be killing many more Islamists and giving our military the free reign they deserve and need.
But it remains unwinnable. Sorry.

Captain Hate

You better be ready to swallow it, maryrose, because with history as a guide nothing will happen; or if it does it will be a slap on the wrist for some small timers and that's where it will end. I don't even think they'll toss DWS under the bus even though she's painfully obviously guilty of some really really bad things judging from what a fool she made of herself threatening a cop in a public meeting to get a laptop back.

I'd be ecstatic to be wrong about this but past disappointments dictate otherwise.

Captain Hate

Bergdahl won't get the firing squad he deserves but probably a very long sentence. I don't think anyone in power now likes him.

Clarice Feldman

It's possible the indictment was just a place holder and in the meantime c/i is uncovering the extent of the Awan espionage and Wasserman's role in it.

As for Pakistan it sends a message to its ally, Russia. India's assistance is critical and it sends a message to China. It's the great game, not the poseur game the Clintons and Obama have been playing for years.

Look at the chessboard--its not really about just Afghanistan.

Clarice Feldman

Of course, the dems will do everything to mess it up as they always do and the media will ally with those rats, but I think this, too, will resonate with american voters.

Thanks for that link, Iggy. Quite the potential hotspot between two major league ass kickers. China seems to be spoiling for a fight but I think they'll eventually back down in a face saving way because I think they're at a strategic disadvantage, but I could be very wrong about that.

I've used Opera for well over 20 yrs. made the transition to Mac over 10 yrs ago. Keep about 100 tabs open at any one time. The rare times I have to reboot my Mac, it comes right back without a hiccup. The real value on a daily use basis is never having to touch a mouse. Tabs left/right = 1/2 keys, forward/backward = x/z keys. One button click brings the tab list into view because the tabs are tiny when you have that many. Most of the cool features other browsers adopt often come from Opera.

I've never heard whether the Norskies were just bought out, or just received fresh backing from the Chinese. The process had happened numerous times with aircraft companies, particularly when they hit financial difficulties.

The ROEs were pretty bad under GWB.

"No more DoS flunky trying to write a new Constitution for the Afghans as if this were New England."

I was at a meeting where a DOS ambassador (and a lawyer) stated he was proud of being part of developing the Afghan and Iraqi constitutions because both included all the democratic and civil rights protections of Western society.

He also stated that the fact that the constitutions referred to the Koran and Sharia as preeminent was negated by the references to Western law and civil rights.

Under this tweet are comments from the left criticizing his wife as a gold digger who wears too many expensive clothes. Apparently she had to make her Twitter account private because of personal attacks from the Left.

I fail to see why it is anyone's business what wardrobe she chooses or why she married him. I assume he is smart enough to know a gold-digger, and it could be that he has other qualities other than looks which attracted her.

I remember quite well Laura Bush being criticized for not wearing flashy clothes and looking a bit dowdy at times, so they all can go pound sand.

Tonight @SpeakerRyan trashed Trump speech on Tues instead of advancing the Republican agenda.

Is anyone surprised?

Transcript of Ryan's Town Hall
I didn't watch and haven't read the transcript yet. Whatever Ryan said isn't making much of a splash in the news either.

Captain Hate

The ROEs were pretty bad under GWB.

Have at it, Bush apologists.

henry

Thanks cboldt. That transcript reads like the #NeverTrump traveling road show. Disgraceful all around.

cboldt

I didn't know the Ryan and Feingold families were close. That explains plenty. Second and third questions to Ryan were on Charlottesville (and Tapper repeated the lie that Trump said there were good people at "the march" which happened the night before), with the third question coming from an old family friend of Ryan, Dena Feingold. Tapper arranged the fourth and fifth questions to be on the same subject, with the fifth being more about bullying in general than on being a racist bigot.

Captain Hate

That transcript reads like a total setup. Asshole Tapper was doing more questioning than the plants did. Hard to believe that what happened in Charlottesville is real high on the list of important things in Racine.

You were set up like a damn fool, Ryan.

henry

Hmmm, Feingold's sister (a rabbi in Kenosha) gets a question? Yeah, these are normal people that CNN picked. TL:DR -- total bs.

henry

CH, Ryan was already at "that's not who we are" by question #2.
