The NY Times runs a shocking opinion piece that could have been written by Rush Limbaugh. Baffling:
When Progressives Embrace Hate
By Bari Weiss AUG. 1, 2017
She launches with the Women's March last winter and then re-examines its leadership:
The leaders of the Women’s March, arguably the most prominent feminists in the country, have some chilling ideas and associations. Far from erecting the big tent so many had hoped for, the movement they lead has embraced decidedly illiberal causes and cultivated a radical tenor that seems determined to alienate all but the most woke.
Yes they have and yes they do, as she explains. But why is the Times running this when they could be bashing Trump?
TROUBLE IN MY BLUE HEAVEN: Mediate notes some intramural scuffling at the Old Grey Burka-Embracing Lady.
"all but the most woke"??? Seriously? It's like a campus newspaper now.

Sorry, but were the guy my complete kindred spirit, I would happily and enthusiastically vote "aye" when the question of his summary execution came up for using "woke" in any form other than that pertaining to Sleeping Beauty getting a big wet smooch on the smacker.

T-rex's opening to his presser today: "SECRETARY TILLERSON: Well, good afternoon, all. And if you’re inquiring about the young assistant with me, I decided maybe if I start naming people to office when they’re eight or nine years old they’ll be of age by the time we can get them through the process. (Laughter.)"

Exdem, on the last thread you were talking about Seth Rich and Wikileaks??
Did you mean RUSSIAN-WIKILEAKS??? That's what the CURBSIDE HAG calls them.
Posted by: GUS | August 02, 2017 at 12:48 AM
"all but the most woke"??? Seriously?
Dennis Prager in Hour 3 today went thru this story with a fine toothed comb of logic. Excellent radio, and he also was struck, as was I about a month ago, by the use of this hip new word "woke."
He particularly enjoyed the illogic behind one of the progressive gals effusive praise of Sharia Law: “You’ll know when you’re living under Shariah law if suddenly all your loans and credit cards become interest-free. Sound nice, doesn’t it?”
Yep, imagine the pennies a woman will save by not having to pay interest when buying the black garbage bag they're going to have to wear in Public every day for the rest of their lives.

And will they have to be black garbage bags or can they be red garbage bags as in that Handmaids Tale that Western Women are apparently terrified of because Western Men want to make them wear red and they won't get interest deductions on their credit cards.
So you tell me, which ones do Progressive women believe are more "woke"?
A)
B)

C)
D)

Bari Weiss, former Tablet writer, complains that hate-filled progressives spoil the fun for other leftists, and her first example is someone who wrote, "Nothing is creepier than Zionism."
Is it unseemly to notice some folks at the Times might not enjoy getting shouldered out of a movement they disproportionately helped to create?

This FOX News story discusses some fairly frightening consequences of a policy implemented in 2009 to recruit foreigners into our Military Services under the promise of giving them expedited US citizenship: Pentagon investigators find ‘security risks’ in government's immigrant recruitment program, ‘infiltration’ feared
Defense Department investigators have discovered “potential security risks” in a Pentagon program that has enrolled more than 10,000 foreign-born individuals into the U.S. armed forces since 2009, ...with sources on Capitol Hill and at the Pentagon expressing alarm over “foreign infiltration” and enrollees now unaccounted for.
Obviously Obama was the Commander In Chief in 2009.
“The program has been replete with problems, to include foreign infiltration – so much so that the Department of Defense is seeking to suspend the program due to those concerns..."
---problems included a vetting backlog that led to enrollment of many soldiers prior to completion of their background checks...
---some of the countries of origin for MAVNI enrollees are “of concern..."
I served on Active Duty with a Canadian citizen , who joined US Forces during Viet Nam days, and I served with multiple Philippine Nationals who have historically served in the US Navy as a consequence of our relations with the Philippines since 1898, but this Obama era policy appears to have been one designed to expand our recruiting goals to countries that common sense would tell us to avoid like the plague. Once again it appears that when you ask the question of an Obama Policy, "Who Benefits?" the answer is rarely if ever, "Americans."

Come on, daddy! Can you think of a better place to get interpreters and intelligence analysts? Who better to tell us the mind of a terrorist from ISIS if not a terrorist from ISIS? Why, you are getting the info right from the horse's mouth! So, perhaps one or two of them are a bit unreliable. A small price to pay.

Miss Marple,
Don Surber is also paying attention to Thomas Wictor's tweets: The news the media buries
Posted by: daddy | August 02, 2017 at 05:18 AM
"Yes they have and yes they do, as he explains. But why is the Times running this when they could be bashing Trump?"
Quite simple really. The ratbags are getting ready for the "big Push" in military terms. Publishing a slightly left negative article is designed to suggest neutrality for when the massive anti-Trump or right onslaught begins.
Posted by: Davod | August 02, 2017 at 05:27 AM
Good morning!
Glad to see Surber is reading Wictor, daddy. I find he understands Trump as much as anyone.
One of the things he pointed out a while ago is that Trump sent Jared Kushner over to the Middle East prior to his trip which made a big impression, because Kushner is a relative and in those countries it was seen as a sign of great respect. The other thing that he said is that our foreign policy no longer is based on dictating policy but rather asking "How can we help?"
That was the reason for that huge ceremonial welcome in Riyadh.

Being southerners, my dad was appalled when served "cold hard bread" for breakfast as well as cold boiled eggs. My mother and I found that their wonderful, strong coffee made anything taste divine! Plus their butter - oh my!
I don't know about eliminating tomatoes...I'll have to pray about that!

I drink plenty of gin, OL.
And there is increasingly nasty stuff about artificial sweeteners, and I bet KK does not allow them to pass his lips, but I have fulfilled my biological imperative--passed my genes on to healthy children, just need to convince them to get reproducing!---so I use Schweppes Diet Tonic rather freely.
I figure whatever that stuff does is likely better than sugar.
(Though I do wonder ---if I got quinine seltzer, maybe I really don't need it as sweet as it's manufactured? I did discover that I can cut back by half on the Cointreau in the Margarita if I use orange bitters too.)
Ig, tomatoes are A-ok if peeled and seeded. The verbotten lectins are in the skin and seeds.
And I actually think once somebody is "sealed" gut-wise, the high lectin stuff can "slide" through.
Plus who knows--maybe gin neutralizes lectins???? ;-)

Do you think Mueller is making these provocative hires in order to precipitate his firing?
Posted by: Clarice Feldman | August 02, 2017 at 11:05 AM
I think Mueller feels protected and entitled. Hiring fellow travelers for this cushy gig is win-win-win for him. They all get to live high on the hog on taxpayer money. If they aren't fired, their mere presence adds to the insinuation that the Trump campaign is guilty of something - plus there is the possibility of a jackpot bonus of an indictment or three. And as you suggest, if they are fired, they still have cushy gigs on the impeachment force.
The only way Mueller loses is by limiting himself to doing the job he was appointed to. Same as any other government job. They all over-reach, it's pure upside.

Why do something in 50 pages when 5000 pages will do? Think of all the pivot tables that will never be created with only 50 pages.

My kind of polling:
It would be a fun idea to just suggest to say...Breitbart to run a poll of the Republican base if they would be ok with Trump just having the GOP leadership taken out and shot. Then publish the results on Drudge and give them to the Main Stream Media. The very fact that their own voter base would be perfectly fine with having them shot would hopefully make some sort of impression on them. Hopfull that they needed to straighten the f@ck up and fly right or die.
One could always hope anyway.
