Insult me? Man, please. I'm not insulted in the slightest. And MaryRose is some damn good company, best I can tell.

No, this reminds me of an NFL commercial they liked to show with one of my absolute favories, Mike Singletary. He's the famed middle linebacker for the Chicago Bears. He was jawing back at some offensive linemen after a particular play, and next thing you know we hear him saying something like: I likes this kind of party!

Yeah, OL . . . I likes this kind of party! But it seems like I kinda pissed you off or, at least, pressed the wrong button at the wrong time of day. 13 numbered points in response? Roughly summarizing the posts you have written over the years? Well, really 14 numbered responses (you double-counted number five).

I tell you, OL, I am flattered good buddy that you took the time. Especially because it appears you certainly have been right about some of this political stuff. Allow me to minimally return the favor.

You see, this is what gets me OL: with respect to my last comment, you correctly zeroed in on the question I asked (what the hell are we scared of?). But you curiously skipped over the reason why I asked the question (our current President is a New York billionaire from Queens more than willing to fight to win and supremely hesitant to play the role of losing gentleman).

I'm wondering why you skipped over that, OL, given that it (his bankroll, mindset, and patriotism) is the single biggest reason he's currently President of the United States of America.

The only thing I can come up with is that you are unwittingly exhibiting something akin to a political version of battered-wife-syndrome.

My sentiments exactly:

Those who run the Democratic Party spend their time overwhelmingly in Washington, California and New York, and they read the New York Times and the Washington Post. They watch CNN and MSNBC, along with network news. As a result, I am not sure they are fully attuned to how unpopular their party has become in most of America. They may win a tactical victory against President Trump, whose inexperience and personality make him vulnerable. But I suspect that very few voters are responding to the Democrats’ daily assault on the administration by saying, In the next election I am going to change my mind and vote liberal! On the contrary, it may be that the Democrats’ hysterical, unprecedented assault on the president will prove to be a distraction that actually retards their ability to address their party’s long-term decline.

The skill set he used to build his fortune, which is the same skill set he used to vanquish 17 GOP rivals and then the Wicked Witch herself and all of her armies including divisions of traitors from our side...has yet to be seen from the President OR his team. Lights here and there to be sure, but nowhere near the shock and awe he used to build his fortune and nowhere near what is required to drain the swamp and send the Deep State packing. And unlike all his other endeavors (except for, as my Dad used to say, "Son if you want to see time fly, sign a 90 day Note at the Bank." since he has dealt with nasty lenders on short deadlines many times), the game in DC has a clock and political capital has the shelf life of dead fish.

That is all I am saying. Momentum is drifting away from his agenda, and his fear factor is dwindling away too. Hence my comment about Offense and Defense.

So it does frustrate me when my friends look back at battles and wars he has won and assume he will win this one too just because.

DC ain't like that. And DC wants to kill him before he hurts them, and they want his head on a pike so the natives never ever rise up and try this again.


I agree. My kids and my Aussie are still in the growing up together phase. A great breed indeed.

What good does it do to worry? Do you think I can change anything if I give up my optimism and start worrying? I cannot. I am well aware that I am an old lady in a working class neighborhood in a Midwestern city, without money or influence.

One thing that I have noticed is that we don't get a lot of news about things the cabinet secretaries are doing, yet when accidentally we do see some news, it's always positive. Kelly managed to get DHS whipped into shape in 6 months. That's rather astounding, and only took a guy with experience and the go-ahead from Trump.

The choice for me is to look at everything with a despairing eye or remain hopeful. I choose to remain hopeful.

The advantage to this is that I do not sink into depression and feel like we are all doomed. If we are, I will find out soon enough. On the other hand, my hopefulness keeps me paying attention, checking for news, and generally supportive of the President.

An interesting thing today is that my granddaughter had heard of the old book "Baron Trump and His Little Dog", which allowed me to talk to her again about the time travel myth which has grown up on Reddit over the last year or so. We also bonded (like my daughter) on hating Paul Ryan. This is a Good Thing, as Martha Stewart used to say.

So, you can go on being pessimistic, and I will be the optimist. There's probably some sort of cosmic balance in this, so I wil stay the way I am.

When my parents went to assisted living, we took in their old Aussie Vicky.

That dog was the absolute best in predicting bad weather. She would start pacing and whining when a thunderstorm was 50 miles away. When the storm got close, she would try to hide behind the toilet tank or, if outside, jump the fence and go hide under the bridge over the creek down the street.

Sorry I only had her a couple of years before she passed. She was a really great dog.

Lots of things about Aussies are cool. I walked mine daily. weekdays was a mile and half or so, gravel road, no leash needed. Weekends was 3 to 5 miles, and a fair chunk of that on a paved road, but I wanted him on a leash for that. He would stop and "demand the leash" whenever we approached that paved road. He liked that walk, sometimes stray food, discarded bigmac or even a slice of pizza.

I continued those walks after he was gone. He's in my heart. I don't eat the "goodies" though.

But several Senate Republicans are negotiating the terms of a Republican surrender. Senator Lamar Alexander is negotiating with Democrats to “stabilize” the Obamacare insurance markets by providing billions of dollars of extra funding to the insurance companies. This is nothing short of a bailout. It would be a worse deal than Republicans might have gotten if Hillary Clinton had been elected president. Overnight Republicans would be transformed from the party that was going to repeal every word of Obamacare to the party that rescued it from bankruptcy.


Republicans have infuriated conservative voters for failing to repeal Obamacare. That failure may at some point be forgiven by voters as a good faith effort against stiff resistance in Washington. What conservatives will never forgive is if the GOP works with Pelosi and Schumer to sanctify the Obamacare law as another permanent and unreformable entitlement.

It's past time the Repukes reject the electorate and vote in a new one...


AZ Poll: Bashing Trump Is Not Working For Flake In His Home State

The left leaning polling group, Public Policy Polling (PPP) found only 18 percent approve of the job Flake is doing. Meanwhile 62 percent disapprove and 19 percent are not sure how they feel about him. These numbers come after Flake has continued to criticize Trump throughout his presidency and refused to endorse him during the 2016 presidential campaign.

If the 2018 mid-term election were held today, just 31 percent of respondents said they would support Flake’s re-election bid, compared to 47 percent who said they would support a generic Democratic opponent, according to the poll.

But If I had to take another breed it would be an Airdale like Teddy. CH features him sometimes on FB and its fun to watch him mature. They are a lot like Beagles in their sociability.

Watcing the IAAF finals from London and its now the 10K and guess who is in front. If you said some alien looking guy from east Africa you win the day. If you weigh over 120lbs there is no way you can win anything over 400 meters these days.

Dad/stepmonster had 2, the first a jerk, literally, the second very sweet unless she saw a squirrel. They left her with me on and off, including her last 1.5 years (supposed to be 1 month). She'd pace before thunderstorms, too, and then jam her nose under my arm if I was seated. The first time I wasn't there for a storm, she split the zipper open on a sofa cushion and yanked out chunks of foam.

A retired attorney in Virginia Beach is so incensed that Republicans couldn't repeal the Affordable Care Act he's suing to get political donations back, accusing the GOP of fraud and racketeering.

Bob Heghmann, 70, filed a lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court saying the national and Virginia Republican parties and some GOP leaders raised millions of dollars in campaign funds while knowing they weren't going to be able to overturn the ACA, also known as Obamacare.

The GOP "has been engaged in a pattern of Racketeering which involves massive fraud perpetrated on Republican voters and contributors as well as some Independents and Democrats," the suit said. Racketeering, perhaps better known for use in prosecuting organized crime, involves a pattern of illegal behavior by a specific group

Let me count the dogs: My first was a Dalmatian, then a Cocker Spaniel, then a German Shephard - all as a kid, decided by mom and dad.

As an adult, I start with a cat: C.O. named after a Rod Sterling episode, then a Standard Poodle and now Beagles.

My favorites are the Beagles. Loving, loyal, distracted, fun to watch and be with. The downside is spending hours tracking them down, finding them and finally finding a way to coax them into the car when their noses gets the best of them.

In henry and GUS's part of the world, Dane County to be exact, there is a big ti me Beagle breeder who does it strictly for research labs. One of my missions in life along with Eric and Laura Trump's is to shut that asshole down and I mean make it so he never earns another buck on Beagles for research.

There are still Mengele like people in the world and some are in Wisconsin.

I would just like to say thank you to Miss Marple and Rattler Gator for keeping my spirits up.


My spirits are up because Trump not only has balls but he has power. He can fire Mueller if he wants to. He can pardon anyone indicted by Mueller. He hasn't done anything yet, but he's not going down for this b.s. Russian thing, at least not peacefully. And a lot of people have his back.
