Flake sucks

hrtshpdbox

Yeah, he does - Jeff Fake.

James D.

Pardon the crudity, but both Flake and Will can go screw themselves, using the nearest rusty, serrated implement at hand.

Fideloflake@ he earns it every day.

These losers can kiss my ass.

Look and listen to George Will. He's a pompous ass. HE even looks like a f@#$ing goof. I'll listen to him immediately after he gets done kissing my ass.

Will knows all about diminution -- mostly from experiencing diminution of his relevance. He needs to go back to complaining about pants lengths in the major leagues.

Every word they generously waste in print is designed to make themselves appear far beyond intellectual reproach - but they only succeed in elucidating their effete inability to see what is directly in front of their pinched little noses.

Stephanie Puppy Pincushion extraordinaire

Thanks everyone. Finally home from the hospital for a few hours nap (assuming the pups settle down anytime now).

She is beautiful and has a head full of hair! Her mom was a baldie baby. She hasn't really cried much or put up a fuss and she's already nursing. Didn't even cry when she got the hepatitis and Vitamin K shots. Apgars were 8-9. Not bad for 3 weeks early!

Reposting from last thread.

MM,

In re: The Oroville Dam article you linked.

Two words a civil engineer hates to hear, "differerntial settlement" especially when it comes to an "earthen" dam. And since this one is the tallest in American holding back, God-only-knows millions of cubic meters of hydraulic energy "ready to rumble", I'd say Governor Moonbeam has a much bigger challenge than how to route the high speed train over a few mountains.

These are times to test the executive decision making skills of a squirrely politician and see how he shakes it all out. Odds are he isn't up to it and someone will have to take the project on with out his and the States poliltical support. Not good.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Jeff Flake of Arizona is all the GOPe have for opinion then they don't have much. McCain, Graham, Murkowski, Collins, Corker, et.al. have done more damage to the security and economy of our country past and present by being like those bobbing head drinking birds at Obama's water fountain. Trump was elected to fix the awful state of American decline. It was anti-coastal realists who work, pray and vote who are the true victors and Will and Flake the willing co-conspirators of American failure.

henry

JiB, maybe we should relocate Congress to the city of Oroville for the next decade or so.

There's been a T. Codd ref on this thread? Where? TIA

Bubarooni

Trump needs to make sure this sap gets primaried and defeated.

lyle

Capital idea, henry!!

"...infinitely complex questions."

I think I see what your problem is, Mr. Flake.

henry

First, we shouldn’t hesitate to speak out if the president “plays to the base” in ways that damage the Republican Party’s ability to grow and speak to a larger audience.

Clue oh Flakey one:

Trump got more votes than your preferred "conservatives" ergo he was growing the base and speaking to a broader audience... not you.

daddy

Obviously the Market is up 92 points because today happens to be the 30th Anniversary of the Rush Limbaugh Show?

Thanks Rush, and Happy Birthday, EIB!!!

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Jack,

I answered you at the end of the last thread. Although I don't know engineering, that sounded very similar to what I remember about the conditions prior to the Johnstown Flood.

Yikes!

lyle

Is it wrong of me to completely SOB our esteemed host's quotes from these two cretins? Well, then I don't wanna be right.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Bubarooni,

Did you see the video of that humongous snake from Brown County State Park that I posted on the last thread?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Speaking of snakes, if anyone should know about
"sacerdotal pomposities" it's George Will, who considers himself the interpretive priest for the conservative perfectionism.

How do these morons think they are going to grow the base with their sneering put-downs of those of us who don't use ten-dollar words and who work (or have worked) at something more productive that government or boutique critiquing?

The last time I felt this PO'd and rebellious I organized a 2-day strike of my high school cafeteria.

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

I saw Flake on Fox last night. He reminded me of John Podheritz. Both of them are such elitists that is offensive as hell. Unlike the rest of you I don't see that in Jonah, but that might be because I've spent a lot of time talking to him about that stuff.

Threadkiller

So happy for the news, Stephanie.

daddy

So where were you guys the first time you heard Rush Limbaugh?

It was probably 1990 and Momma and I I think were driving from Memphis to Alameda California since the company had just opened up our Hub at the Oakland Airport and we were lucky enough to be assigned to the new California base. We were coming in from east of Sacramento as I recall and I heard this guy on the radio talking about how much he liked listening to the bass line in songs, and he mentioned his Show's tag line song that he's been playing for 30 years as program opener. Then whatever he said was so on the money politically I had to try to find out who the guy was, and the rest, as Rush would say in a fake French accent, is "histoire!"

How 'bout you guys? Megadittos, El Rushbo!

Bori the deplorable lurker

Great news Steph, congrats.

henry

daddy, in Cleveland during the Gulf War (GHWB version).

daddy

By the way, who's more of a self-important dick, George Will or Jeff Flake?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

daddy,

I think it was back in the late 90's. My nephew told me about this really funny guy on radio (this is the iron worker Trump voter, not the art teacher democrat).

Anyway, my nephew had been really struck with him so I went spinning the dial and found him. He happened to be playing a long parody of "The Winds of War" and I was hooked. I think this was right after the 1st Gulf War.

Over the years I have waxed and waned with Rush because sometimes I think he is obtuse about regular voters, but there is no doubt he created conservative talk radio as a money-making venture.

It's sad that so few who fill those slots on every channel now are lacking his talent.

The only one who had a better show was DENNIS MILLER, whom I still miss.

henry

Daddy Flake got elected to something and has never been seen in a bow tie. Therefore Will is more of a self important dick by a nose hair.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

henry,

How's this for self-importance? Major Garrett has a podcast where they broadcast from various swank DC eateries with politicians. So you get Garett's news propaganda married with fancy restaurant reviews (and I bet he gets a free meal for the advertising).

daddy

The only one who had a better show was DENNIS MILLER, whom I still miss.

Hard to argue with that, Miss M.

Will is more of a self important dick by a nose hair.

Or with that also, Henry.

BTW, Rush in Hour 2 just mentioned Jeff Flake and his new book, and after the ad ends Rush is going to depants that A**hole's misunderstanding of Trump and America.

henry

Hahaha Miss M. At least you know the restaurants to avoid.

Dave (in MA)

I've never really understood how Limbaugh gets such high ratings, seeing as how he's on in the middle of the day, and conservatives for the most part have jobs.

Momto2

Congratulations, Stephanie! Such a happy day for you and your family. Babies with hair are adorable (bows!!!)

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

My first foray with Rush was very late. Something was going on - a fight with Harry Reid I think, and Rush offered to auction his letter and give the money to an organization supporting the troops. (Reid of course declined). I started to listen to him the day I found that out despite being told my entire life that he is the devil incarnate.

I really don't recall the details, but I loved him from that second on.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Dave,

Retirees, salesmen, travelers, housewives, some students, people who work the swing shift and are at home until about 3PM, lots of small businesses and offices which don't have much public traffic, etc.

Dave (in MA)

Howie Carr's show is mostly only syndicated in New England, but his web site has a live stream 3-7P ET, and can be listened to after the fact as well, on the Youtube channel. It might be a little too Boston-centric but I recall daddy mentioning that he enjoyed it.

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

By the way, who's more of a self-important dick, George Will or Jeff Flake?

Republicans who disagree with me don't offend me, since they are entitled to their opinion, but elitists really really really offend me. And I think Flake is worse than Will and maybe worse than Podheritz, if that is possible.

henry

Ryan, It's time for the border wall. interesting.

Momto2

I know I was listening during the Dan's Bake sale (May 1993) so probably a listener since 1991 or 1992.

How does time go back so quickly? My grandmother used to tell me when she was in her 80's that time goes faster the older you get. That seems to be correct somehow. She also told me that in spite of how she looked on the outside, on the inside she still felt like she did when she was in her 20's - also true!

Momto2

So apparently there is a "leaked" audio of Jared Kushner addressing the interns at the White House.

My first thought is - some intern need to go - TODAY! This is getting so ridiculous.

(still catching up so forgive me if this has already been posted)

Captain Hate

Mrs H, because she drove around a lot for her job, listened to Rush long before I did. Although she's a lot more lib than I am, she thought having water sound effects whenever Ted Kennedy was mentioned was hilarious.

I didn't start listening to him until after I was on the internet and found his tendency to drag things out very annoying. That said he was hilarious when Chicago didn't make it past the first cut for the Olympics and during DJT's first presser when he called out CNN and fake news. Although I listen more to Tammy and Levin, Rush was very prescient about the potential of Trump a lot earlier than others.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I sure miss Trump's press conferences, but I understand why he doesn't do them.

You can only tell Acosta to sit down so many times before it loses its entertainment value.

jimmyk

The only one who had a better show was DENNIS MILLER, whom I still miss.

You must never have heard the G-man, who I liked better than Limbaugh. He had guests that he interviewed, and was very provocative and interesting himself, of course. YMMV.

Marlene

Good afternoon! The highlight of listening to Rush was during the infamous Clinton years. We listened to him in the car on the mind numbing long trips between northern and southern Maine, which made the ride go by so much faster. I haven't listened much lately, but I do appreciate his contribution to fighting the MSM.

daddy

Howie Carr's show... It might be a little too Boston-centric but I recall daddy mentioning that he enjoyed it.

Well of course like at my former classmates at UNC Chapel Hill, Howie Carr is witty, brilliant, and devilish handsome, so no mystery why anyone with intelligence enjoys listening to his show:). I actually do wonder how many beers I probably poured him when I bartended at Town Hall and the Bacchae. Go To Hell Dook!

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I first heard Rush in the mid eighties when he had a local Sacramento talk show before going national a few years later. KFBK.

Dave (in MA)

You know how there's a web site where you can get older versions of software that the vendors have dropped? (www.oldversion.com)

Well, some people want to install the Beta test version of Obama in 2020.

Well, Flake has Postrel's vote.

The call letters of Rush's Sacratomato radio station.

matt, deplore me if you must

This a hole just dithered and flaked on Obamacare and he has the audacity to declare his "resistance" to a president of his own party.

Too many of these a holes sit in their very fancy offices listening to themselves bloviaite on matters of which they know little while their staffers work overtime to further their own particular agendas, in many cases.

Obamacare is going to fail magnificently next year because it was meant to. If I was Trump I would emphasize this point over and over again. Then there will be a crisis and Congress will have to "do something".

For 7 years the Republicans did nothing about Obamacare. Not a plan in sight. But they were very happy to place bills on Obama's desk which they knew would go nowhere. That is sort of the definition of being a bunch of useless tools.

Unfortunately, I get the WaPo updates every day. Thoday's top articles are:

. A timeline of the explosive lawsuit alleging the White House link to the Seth Rich conspiracy.

. Trump dictated son's misleading statement on meeting Russian lawyer.

. President Trump is now directly implicated in trying to cover up the Russia scandal.

. Trump aides stunning cry for help

.Ivanka Trump is part of the problem

etc, etc, etc

These people are as bad as the gd Communists and their fellow travelers in 1939 when Ribbentrop and Molotov made their deal on August 23, less than 10 days before they tore Poland apart. Their willingness to propagate complete falsehoods and half truths is on a criminal scale. Talk about a vast conspiracy.

This is a slow motion coup d'etat. And the establishment is all in on it.

DWS has an explosive scandal on her hands and it is completely ignored by the pundits. We find that the Obama administration was unmasking hundreds of people's identities from our intelligence programs. The Russia scandal is still a hill of beans.

The dictatorial conduct of the Left is growing, and there is no pushback from the Republican side.

Trump may be an egotistical ass, but at least he does what he says he's going to do. He's one of those people where one watches what he does, not what he says.

And they just don't get why most of the people who voted for him are still with him. When one feels slimed any time one comes in contact with a politician, that is the result.

Frau Steingehirn

Iggy - "For those of you in Rio Linda, that's the call letters of Rush's Sacramento radio station."

Whew.

Trump may be an egotistical ass

Funny, no one in DC had a problem with the giant egotistical ass that sat in the WH before Trump. I wonder why.

Texas Liberty Gal

I was standing in the kitchen doing the dishes in the fall of 1994 when my husband came home and told me there is this guy on the radio you need to listen to. Needless to say it was Rush and I've been hooked ever since. I use to tape his shows until he started Rush 24/7. Now I can just download the podcasts. Well worth the subscription price.

Ryan, It's time for the border wall

That public statement from Paul Ryan makes me think he is playing Lucy holding the football to Donald Trump's Charlie Brown. I don't trust Ryan as far as I can poop. Quit talking about it Ryan---shut up and do it.

My favorite episode listening to Rush was when my late wonderful mom came to visit in Alaska. She was very much a Barbara Bush 'bleeding heart Liberal' type, a devotee of NPR and CNN, absolutely certain that Rush Limbaugh was a racist and a bigot and a hater etc, so she knew anyone who listened to Rush was a mind-numbed robotic hayseed fool since the MSM told her so.

She had always told me when I'd call and mention listening to Rush that she had listened to Rush before and couldn't stand listening to the bigot.

So she came up to visit and I remember that just as I turned onto the Seward Highway with her in the seat next to me and we started heading down the gorgeous Turnagain Arm, that I hit the radio and Rush starts on some amazingly funny riff about the current 'hair on fire' topic of the day, having something to do with hypocritical comments from some Dems about immigration or something. She started laughing in agreement with Rush as hard as I could ever remember having heard her laugh in years, and as the segment ended she asked me joyfully, "Who is that?"

"That's Rush Limbaugh, Momma," said I.

Instantly her smile vanished and she asked me to turn the radio off:)

She was a great momma but boy did I love that moment!

Buford Gooch

I started listening to Rush about 1989. I was in my car pretty much all day back then, and I happened across him by accident. A close friend called me a few weeks later to tell me I needed to listen to this new guy, Rush Limbaugh. I listened to him for a few months. I love what he does, and the effect he has, but there is no way I can listen to him for 30 minutes, let alone a couple of hours.

David, Internet Deplorable

My major problem with George Will is that he doesn't know how to tie a bow tie properly. It is supposed to be tightened until the face takes on a lovely purple color and then tied securely.

At least in George Will's case.

David

lyle

she had listened to Rush before and couldn't stand listening to the bigot.

With all due respect to your mother, daddy, but these are the words spoken by damn near every lib...who has never listened to one word of his.

Jim Eagle

Whenever he started the "Feminazis" thats when I started to listen but then I lived in Argentina for 2 years and London for 6 so I missed a whole lot of Rush. Maybe it was sometime before 1997 and after 1994.

henry,

Great idea on relocating Congress only if they are downstream from the dam.

Stephanie,

Congrats. I know its been a nail-biter for you and happy it all worked out for the best.

BTW, Rush is on fire in Hour 3 explaining Trump and doing a great job of it at the 45 minute mark.

Frau Steingehirn

matt @ 2:25 - a clear and alarming accounting of the present conditions.
I'm reminded of the medieval practice of judicial combat. In our case, we have one champion and the opposition has multitudes of assailants to attack, singly and in groups.

daddy

I am advised by a listener that todays White House Presser had no questions about Awan or DWS and was devoted totally to Russia Russia Russia and Jarod Kushner and collusion, etc.

Cancel the damn things already.

Jim Eagle

Sorry but I have to share this:

A group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, accompanied by two female teachers, went on a field trip to the local racetrack (Churchill Downs) to learn about thoroughbred horses and the supporting industry (Bourbon whiskey), but mostly to see the horses.

When it was time to take the children to the bathroom, it was decided that the girls would go with one teacher and the boys would go with the other. The teacher assigned to the boys was waiting outside the men's room when one of the boys came out and told her that none of them could reach the urinal. Having no choice, she went inside, helped the boys with their pants, and began hoisting the little boys up one by one, holding on to their little 'wee-wees' to direct the flow away from their clothes.

As she lifted one little guy, she couldn't help but notice that he was unusually well endowed. Trying not to show that she was staring, the teacher said, "You must be in the 5th grade."

"No ma'am,” he replied, "I'm riding Silver Arrow in the seventh race, but I appreciate your help."

matt, deplore me if you must

For me my first Rush experience was probably during the 1992 election. I will never forget from Atlanta to Huntsville driving with one of my salesmen in 1994 or so when Rush was interrupted with the news that Nancy Kerrigan had bee assaulted.

My immediate reaction was that it was one of her competitors. Sports such as figure skating and gymnastics are filled with a lot of unbalanced parents, coaches, and competitors. At that level of competition, especially, anything goes. Those people crazy!

Flakes's idea of free trade is to remove sanctions from Cuba so the companies can take advantage of US loan guarantees. We pay when Cuba defaults.

AFAIK - Georgia timber rattle snakes can take on any comers in the "mine's bigger" contest.

From wiki:

This snake became a prominent symbol of American anger and resolve during the American Revolution due to its fearsome reputation. ... The motto Nemo me impune lacesset (with the verb in the future tense) appears above a Crotalus horridus on a 1778 $20 bill from Georgia as an early example of the colonial use of the coiled rattlesnake symbol, which later became famous on the Gadsden flag.

The crotalus horridus is found all over the eastern states.

BTW,

The group spearheading banning Dennis Prager from guest conducting the Santa Monica Symphonie's performance of Haydn, is a group of UCLA Professors: Can a Conservative Conduct an Orchestra?

Dennis Prager does not get near the air time of Rush Limbaugh, but I have to say I admire him as much if not more than Rush and I always get something worthwhile out of a listen. Yesterday, as a consequence of a callers call in hour 2, he changed an opinion he had earlier announced in Hour 1 of the show, and his reversal was the right decision since the callers point was irrefutable. Kudo's Dennis for such courage in a Talk Show host.
