Very funny video. Irma to bash us? We bash Hillary - let a smile be your umbrella! Let that smile also be sandbags, gasoline, food, water, and an evacuation plan.

Storm surge flooding of 10-15 ft is now expected along the SW Florida coast. This is a dire and life-threatening situation.

Speaking of Queef Cashcow, the Horde is immensely enjoying her whining about her campaign and everyone associated with it putting her in a "straitjacket" and not allowing her to be herself, namely a mean spirited and spiteful foul mouthed harridan.

Has anyone bothered to freeze their credit reports? What's your experience been? Has it created any problems or inconveniences?

Back to the Equifax thing. Did we sign something authorizing our banks or electric companies to send personal info to Equifax? I personally have no need for a credit report and don't think I ever will again. Shouldn't I be able to prevent such information being spread around in the future?
In a similar vein, my doctor was reviewing medications last time I had a checkup and asked if I was taking an antibiotic that an oral surgeon had prescribed ahead of a procedure over a year ago. How was he able to know about that? Was a new anti-doctor-shopping law passed recently? I'm not on opiates or antidepressants or anything like that, so why does it apply to me even if that's what it is?
I usually read stuff I sign, and I don't remember signing up for my personal info to go where I didn't send it. Just wondering what right Equifax or any random doctor has to my data and if there's a way to head off these privacy invasions. Anyone know?

Just heard a newsman from Marathon Key who realizes he may well be a dead man because he failed to leave. Broke down. Understandable.
And apparently my MIL in Cape Coral has decided she made the wrong call as well...
Turned down opportunity to fly out Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; turned down an opportunity to be picked up in a car on Thursday.
What can I say???

Re Lois Lerner--comment on Instapundit
Avatar
Miller_Smith • 14 minutes ago
This might be the absolute best move.
This now allows all of the civil lawsuits against the IRS and against Lois Lerner to move forward. Lois Lerner cannot claim violation of 5th Amendment in order to not testify in a civil case against herself. She has to testify and answer every question of every type as in a civil case when there will be no prosecution in a criminal matter means that she must answer and provide documentation of everything germane to the case against
She can be put in jail for civil contempt every time she refuses to answer. The discovery process in the Civil matter will be a bonanza for the GOP and all freedom-loving people that will allow us to see exactly what the Obama IRS did to people.
Just the legal bills Lois Lerner will have to pay can turn her into a Pauper.
So respectfully to all previous commenters, this might be more delicious than a criminal trial ever could be.

I know the answers to Ex's question about how one doctor knows what another prescribed a year ago.
Those electronic medical records have EVERYTHING on them.
Old meds show up on the page I see for preop drugs all the time.
And once something goes on them--even if incorrect--it takes levels of authority to remove it.
I cannot remove anything from them, being a lowly physician...
I will write "Patient has no CAD and never had an MI" in my note, but a nurse administrator has to be fetched to take it off the actual "problem list."

My BP doc had me down as having had a cardiac cat and a bypass. I think the error happened when they combined their records with the hospital's, when the hospital merged with the practice.
The nurse didn't believe me at first. I opened my shirt and said "See, no scar!"
I hope the patient who had the bypass got his/her records straightened out. Could be some bad meds prescribed if they didn't spot that.

Been talking to my oldest son, the charter fishing captain in Sarasota. He is hunkered down, boat in storage, plenty of water, food, multiple generators, lots of gas. Plus his house is 6 miles inland and has hurricane glass (rated 125mph missles). He will power the fridge, his cellphones (as if the towers survive) and computers.
Says starting to feel the wind escalating. He's rode out many a rogue squall in the Gulf and the Keys so I think he knows how to handel the shake, rattle and roll of cat. 3 or 4 Cane.
Still praying for him.

I think of you JOMers often but I do wish I had more time to spend here. I laugh out loud most times I drop in. I know JOM has the best links on the net. Thanks for the links to learn more about DC & WH happenings and any news about Hurricane Harvey & Irma. My thoughts & prayers are with thee many, many people & communities, and islands impacted by these phenomenal, deadly storms.
Miss M...thanks for sharing the link above on rescue efforts. More importantly, the experience that wonderful woman told who pitched in to help despite the fact she didn't think she was qualified. Bela !,
Thank you. That article brought home to me the peril for so many in Florida. So many of us have relatives or friends there - I think half the people at my 50th reunion last year came up from Florida.
This could possibly be the largest natural disaster in our nation's history. God bless all those who are working to save people, from President Trump and Governor Scott, to FEMA, the fire and police, and volunteers.
I wish I could "disappear" this storm, but I fear that won't happen.

Jeez, hubby just contacted one of our FL neighbors, thinking they were still in Michigan. They had to go to FL last week-end because of the health issues of elderly parents who are in assisted living. They secured their house and then drove to Atlanta to stay with friends. They will try to get back to Venice next week,so we'll have a first hand assessment of any damage. By the time this is over, thousands of people will have stories to tell.

I got sick to my stomach when I read about Eric Bolling's son. My sister and my daughter and I used to watch The Five (way back when it started, when Bob was still on there.) Eric Bolling used to talk about his wife like he was crazy in love with her, and I can remember how proud he was of his son. He talked about him often. Eric mentioned several times that he went to Mass every day.
I've never believed Bolling was guilty of whatever he was accused of -- if anything, it might have been some joke.
I called my sister to tell her about the boy's suicide, and she said, "I wonder if it was him, joking around on his dad's phone." Of course there is no way to know why these things happen. She also told me Bolling is suing some guy that wrote the story about the 'joke' for fifty million dollars.
I sent Bolling my condolences on twitter. I'm not an old groupie, it's just that sometimes the people you watch on tv become "real" to you. There has been so much ugliness in politics and television and public life this past year or so, it takes a pretty brave man or woman to step out and be counted -- Miss Marple has said this so many times about President Trump. I pray continually for him to have a lion's heart and backbone of steel.
We quit watching all news (except local) on the networks, and only watch Lou for about 30 min. every night. I get most of my news on jom, and a few other sites.
I hate evil. I hate the left.

None of the above, JiB. An acquaintance of one of the book group members whose second book, The Buried Book, hooked me almost immediately. Her other real life occupation is a structural engineer who goes into abandoned buildings to check out their suitability for rehabbing; needless to say Cleveland is a treasure trove for that field. I wanted Mrs H to attend today because I'd wager she's taken pictures in some of the vacant buildings D.M. has examined.

I have an Aunt and cousins in FL - Stuart, Bradenton, etc.
Mrs. PDinDetroit's Father, Half-Sister and her family. Half-Sister is pregnant, but not to 32 weeks yet and hurricanes can cause pregnant women to go into labor. They left the South Miami area to be Northeast of Tampa by about 50 miles. It would figure that Irma would hit Tampa now.
Mrs. PDinDetroit went through Andrew in '92, living just to the North of Homestead. No services for 3 weeks...
8 of us were supposed to be on Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas right now for a week cruise in the Eastern Caribbean to celebrate Mrs. PDinDetroit's Father's 80th Birthday. 2 of the islands we were supposed to visit have been decimated. They offered us all kinds of 50% off this/that to leave on Tuesday instead for a cruise to Cozumel, MX. As the family has connections, we got a full refund and no plans for a get-together just yet.
Praying Irma just packs up her bags and goes home...

I keep forgetting to wish MM a HappyBirthday.
My Bearcats played Wolverines close the first half but they are out their league second half. Sigh:)
Trump is in Camp David, right? Knowing him, he will take every asset available to him and make Katrina look like the keystone cops. Compared to Irma, which by the way, may not turn out to be what everyone is projecting. Just a gut feeling.

Discus fish are a big deal for tropical fish hobbyists. They're fascinating fresh water egg layers who are very attentive parents to the small fry. Father H and I dealt mainly with live breeders or Siamese Fighting Fish but I was very aware of Discus fish.

CH, I'm going to go read some more in The Buried Book. We've been busy all day and I just got started last night, haven't read any today -- was catching up on here.
Our seven-year-old grandson had a 9 a.m. soccer game, and we left here about 8, to get good seats.
I pray that God continues to watch over all of our Florida jomers for the next days and weeks, as well as each one of you.

PD in Detroit,
We've missed you bud. How are the migraines? The golf game? We need diversion here.
Prayers for all your family in harm's way.

CH,
He has been doing Discus raising since he was 10 years old. There was a guy in Ft. Lauderdale who wrote the seminal book on raising Discus and when we were down there for other things, he insisted I drive him to this guy's home so he could meet him. Since then, my old home was filled with tanks, tubes, distributors, turbulators, etc. Gone on for 30+ years. He is an addict:)
Navy doing a number on Tulane.
Penn State is now # 4. Hard to believe they could still recruit that quality after the Papa Joe scandal.
