The NY Times really breaks news with this one:
Where Trump’s Hands-Off Approach to Governing Does Not Apply
The Trump administration opened the door to allowing more firearms on federal lands. It scrubbed references to “L.G.B.T.Q. youth” from the description of a federal program for victims of sex trafficking. And, on the advice of religious leaders, it eliminated funding to international groups that provide abortion.
While these initiatives lacked the fanfare of some of President Trump’s high-profile proclamations — like his ban on transgender people in the military — they point to a fundamental repurposing of the federal bureaucracy to promote conservative social priorities.
The aggressive regulatory effort, which runs counter to the Trump administration’s less-is-more credo about government meddling, has led to policy changes related to gun ownership, gay rights, reproductive choices, immigration and other divisive political issues, according to a New York Times review of government documents and court records, as well as interviews with more than four dozen people involved in or briefed on the efforts.
This is a long story about nothing but their basic grievance is that the progressive ratchet isn't working the way they would like. Per the Times it is fine for progressives to pursue a progressive agenda, as under Obama, but conservatives are betraying their principles by dabbling in Federal rules and regulations. Uh huh.
They do buttress their case with a classic quote from the only government official willing to go on the record:
“All of the things you count on the Justice Department’s institutional bureaucracy for — thoughtful, deliberate attention to process, including all stakeholders — it seems to have been thrown out,” said Sharon McGowan, a former senior career official who joined the Justice Department in 2010 and worked in the civil rights division until departing a few weeks into the Trump administration.
Ms. McGowan, the only former career official who agreed to comment for this article, noted that some of her former colleagues are staying despite concerns.
“Some are absolutely staying because they feel like they’re afraid of who’d get put in their seat if they left,” said Ms. McGowan, who now works at Lambda Legal, an advocacy organization focused on L.G.B.T. rights.
Wow, an Obama holdover left because Team Trump was insufficiently progressive. Breakthrough stuff. I blame Putin and hope Mueller is investigating this carefully.

Unfortunately my comment came out sounding like I was laughing about the jumpers.
Sanders is fielding a bunch of questions on the Bannon interview, and she has left the comments about McConnell & Ryan not refuted, but rather sidestepped with "The President remains committed to getting things done with the GOP leadership" but THEN says "The President remains committed to getting things done, as he demonstrated last week when he struck the deal with democrats.."

Sarah Huckabee Sanders answers the first question which is about Steve Bannon (My transcript)
Reporter Jeff: ...Do you have a reaction to Steve Bannon's comments on 60 Minutes saying that the firing of James Comey was the biggest Political mistake in modern History?...
Sarah Huckabee: First, on the Comey firing, I think that we've been pretty clear what our position is, and certainly I think that it has been shown that in the days that followed that the President was right in firing Director Comey. Since the Director's firing we've learned new information about his conduct that only provided further justification for that firing, including giving False Testimony and leaking Privileged Information to journalists. He went outside of the Chain of Command and politicized an investigation into a Presidential candidate. I think the President has been very clear about his position on that front. He's very pleased with the new Director and has full confidence in him to fully restore and lead the FBI.

Somehow, I missed photos of the jumpers until today, but thought it was just a handful. Just thinking about it makes my hands sweat. Same with skydiving.
Lyle's linked article gets less obnoxious [the article, not what happened] later:
He brought his print of Drew's photograph with him and showed it to ... the oldest of Norberto's three daughters. [at the man's funeral!] She ... ordered him to leave.
What Cheney [the reporter who deduced the man's name] remembers her saying, in her anger, in her offended grief: "That piece of shit is not my father." [it's you!]

Very next question from another reporter is also on Bannon's interview, asking if the President agrees with the obvious characterization of McConnell and Ryan as not wanting Trump's "populist economic and nationalist agenda to be implemented."
Sarah: (Smiling a bit) The President is committed to working with Congress to get some big things done. We've got a very big agenda. The President wants to work with all members of Congress. Obviously that includes Republican leadership as well as Democrats. I think you saw some of the Presidents leadership last week when he helped strike a deal to make sure that we got the Funding that was necessary. We're focused on moving things forward and certainly hats the goal and the priority of the Administration.
Reporter: Would he like to see, given his past criticisms of McConnell and Ryan, would he like to see different leadership from the Republican Congress?
Sarah: Right now the President is committed to working with the leadership that we have and nothing beyond that at this point.
Posted by: daddy | September 11, 2017 at 03:33 PM
3rd Reporter in a row asks a Bannon interview question:
Johnathan Karl: To follow up on Bannon's comments... about Ryan and McConnell (Sarah starts smiling again) ...he actually also said that they wanted to nullify the 2016 Election results. So just a simply Yes or No question, does the President agree with that assessment?
Sarah: Not that I'm aware of. I haven't had that conversation with him, Jonathan.
Karl: Is he still talking to Steve Bannon? Is he still seeking his counsel?
Sarah: I know they've has one conversation but I don't think anything beyond that since he left.

I DESPISE the MSM for hiding the people who jumped. They made the decision to "shield" us all from them, and pull back the cameras. I only learned of them many years out--maybe from that Esquire article lyle posted.
Keeping people from seeing those who jumped to their deaths rather than burn to death allowed a level of distance from the reality of that great evil.
I don't need to have anyone deciding how to sanitized information for me, or what information I should be exposed to and pretend they are transmitting "the news."

Next Reporter opens with a 4th consecutive Steve Bannon question: Big smiles all around.
Sarah: (Smiling) I think we may be answering more questions about Steve Bannon not that he's not here than when he was.
Reporter Decker: Did the President happen to watch the Interview? Did you watch the Interview?
Sarah: I'm not sure he watched it in its entirety but I know he's seen clips it. I did watch parts of it.
Reporter Decker: As a former colleague of yours who worked with him at the White House, were you disappointed with any of his comments? Were you surprised with any of his comments? Did you like the fact that a former staffer is speaking so openly about some of the inner workings that happen here at the White House on a regular basis.
Sarah: (Still smiling big time) I am sure that it made for great TV. I'm sure CBS will be happy to put those ratings up. As for me I'm here to speak on behalf of the Administration.

anonamom,
This "shielding" was what happened to my grandchildren. My youngest granddaughter wasn't born yet, and the middle one was a toddler, but grandson was 5 and should have had a simplified explanation given to him.
It's the only time I ever disagreed with my daughter-in-law on child-rearing. Not only did she keep the television off, we were forbidden to talk about it in my grandson's presence. When he got into the upper grades of elementary school I had to answer questions because he knew only "something bad happened."
I am not saying that children should be given a non-stop diet of news like that, but her shielding him from that then led to her keeping the TV off during the Afghanistan War, too.
An abbreviated bit of information would have been more helpful, I think.

lyle,
I think that was the documentary made by the French film makers. Big booms every time one hit. The documentary was only shown once.
You kknow when I decided Hillary Clinton was evil, and when I was pretty sure Murdoch was, too?
The New York Post ran that headline "Bush Knew" with a picture of the WTC and Hillary went to the well of the Senate and waved it around, demanding answers. I believe this was right after we went into Afghanistan.
The story that went with that headline didn't say much of anything. But getting that printed was Murdoch's deal, and Hillary waving it around was absolutely staged to draw people from Bush's popularity.
She is truly evil.

I ran out of tape to transcribe anymore, but I am sure the Media will now roll in hot and heavy on that "Comey giving False Testimony" comment.
2 or 3 other comments from reporters on Steve Bannon's Interview before the Presser ended, so Bannon sure got some Media interest in his Interview which I think was one of his purposes. Good job, Steve and good job Sarah. She really is unflappable, funny and excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if Bannon is now in the position of saying for Trump what Trump would say publicly if Trump had the luxury and freedom to speak freely without the limitations and constraints that come with being President.

I found out because a friend of mine had a friend who went to her house and saw his picture. (We went to different high schools.) However, she must have found out about me, too, because we ended up seated nest to each other (alphabetically) at a county scholarship awards ceremony. When they called our names, we both looked at each other in horror. Pretty funny.
The guy was a weasel and another example of me being a bad picker. But, 6 degrees of separation and all of that.

I don't really know. They preposition assets and I think they attempted to do that in Katrina, but Blanco refused to declare an emergency and ask for federal help (after a highly suspicious conference call to dems in DC.
She also refused to call up the national guard. Bush even got the head of the hurricane center to call her. No dice. Meanwhile, Nagin didn't order any evacuation.
brown got somewhat of a raw deal, but Bush should have been on TV immediately castigating Blanco on her delay, but he was too polite or something.

Hillary on Trump: "He was quite successful in referencing a nostalgia that would give hope, comfort, settle grievances, for millions of people who were upset about gains that were made by others because—"
The racist Jane Pauley: "What you're saying is millions of white people."
Hillary: "Millions of white people, yeah," Clinton replied. "Millions of white people."

First time I was in the WTC was in '87. I had just been hired by a Shearson Lehman Brothers in their training program and they flew the entire training class from across the country to NYC to parade the top brass in front of us and confirm we were going to work for the top firm on WS. They put us up in what was then the Marriott right next door. After a reception/light dinner, several of us got extremely inebriated in the bar of Windows on the World. I was extremely hungover the next day for the meetings but I'll never forget the views as the sun set.

Yes, we remember. At first we didn't realize what the sound was. As awful as it was to hear, I felt that it was important to listen. A human life was ending because of the horror of that day. It was someone's child, husband, wife, parent or sibling, and we had to witness it.
Thank you for posting the link to the story of the Falling Man. It was very well written - respectful and necessary.

I can't help commenting after the thread about the poor souls who leapt to their death on 9/11, and about the attempts by the media to "shield" us from that unspeakable sight.
I attended a small commemorative service this morning, only to be forced to listen to some guy who insisted on serenading us with a song he composed shortly after 9/11. Apparently,he makes a great effort to perform it every year. It included "rainbow bridges of love" and other sappy feelz lyrics, with angelic choirs dubbed in--the only thing missing were candles and teddy bears, and "all we need is love" crap.
As someone who was living just 50 miles north of NYC and with close ties to many military friends who were working at the Pentagon that day, I'm just furious at these attempts to mitigate the evil of that day--as if the events of 9/11 were just like some tragic accident or other. One can't help comparing to the reaction to Pearl harbor--what the hell has happened to this country???

On 9/11,the daughter had been in DC a couple of years,in her first job as a staffer for a Maine Senator. (not the current one) We were watching a show on Nat Geo yesterday,in between hurricane coverage. It was about what happened on 9/11 from a DC point of view, after the Pentagon was hit. There was some footage from the chaos in DC that we had never seen, including Senators leaving the Capitol. My very selfish and bitter memory from that day was the daughter and the other 20-something year old staffers fleeing the Congressional office buildings on their own, with no direction from the "boss."
In fact, the daughter asked her supervisor about a plan to evacuate and when she didn't get an answer, she said,I've got my own plan,I'm leaving! Thousands of people suffered thru more horrific experiences that day,but I will never forget the fear and worry we experienced.

emzed,
I cannot tell you how much clearer my thinking has become since I removed cable television.
I only use this freeby Fox News live feed when something like the hurricane is happening. I have become expert in which web sites give facts and which are peddling the DNC approved narrative.
The American public is manipulated in almost all media, print and video, music and radio.
It's not just news either. They have some movie out about September 11 and people trapped in a WTC elevator. Guess who it stars: Charlie Sheen and Whoopie Goldberg, who will no doubt make the rounds promoting it by talking about how Bush didn't stop it and it was all his fault.
Are the Millennials strapped for cash and burdened with student loan debt? Make Tiny Houses a new craze and promote minimalist decor, so their austere lifestyle isn't suffering, it's trendy!
Is there ANY type of weather that isn't conected to "climate change?" From hurricanes to blizzards, all is caused by the Skydragon and even past reputable places like the Weather Channel push this societal wrecker and globalist moneymaker.
Michelle Obama is a fashion icon dressed in clown clothing. Melania Trump is the invisible woman.
Advertising is now almost always populated with minorities. Advertising itself has been infiltrated by the left, so that corporations get duped into supporting causes and policies that their customers actually don't want.
Trump is a godsend in that he tells it like it is, sometimes awkwardly, but at least he says it. This is one of his most valuable qualities. Frankly, the only reason he was able to win is because he was already a known quantity in pop culture. Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio would have been smashed by the Clinton juggernaut because all of these forces I outlined above would have been extolling her as the first woman president and "It's time" and ginning up female resentment against men.
They couldn't do that with Trump. I imagine Kid Rock will be immune too, if he decides to run for the Senate.
Anyway, that is what has happened to this country. And if you try to tell people like my democrat sister, she acts like you are crazy.

The "Comey Gave False Testimony" Sarah Huckabee Sanders exchange already generating coverage on FOX Business.
Reporter Blake Burman: ...Sarah Huckabee Sanders declining there to say what, if anything Comey might have said that was incorrect under Oath.
FOX Host: ...Jason there was a hint there.. that maybe the DOJ might be looking at whether Comey perjured himself. What do you think?
Jason Chaffetz: ...I think you need to go back and look at the testimony he gave to John Radcliffe before the House Judiciary Committee,... I was on that panel at that time. It's about 8 minutes of questioning and he was very definitive, Director Comey was, that he had made the decision after interviewing Hillary Clinton, but as you heard from Senator's Grassley and Graham, there's documentation to show that Director Comey had actually made up his mind and started drafting the exoneration of Hillary Clinton before that, some 16 or 17 weeks before.
---------------------------
Chaffetz says that if there is not currently an investigation, there should be one.
For the record I really dislike reporter Blake Burman. Just my personal feeling but he sure strikes me as a smarmy turd and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

That destructio of families has now moved into poor white neighborhoods. Same thing with illegitimacy, food stamps, WIC, welfare, etc. The only difference in lifestyle is the music they listen to.

When Gowdy-Doody isn't doing a bang up job collecting evidence against Lois Lerner this is how he passes the time:

I guess we will have to wait for him to hand this nothing burger over to the DOJ so we can blame Sessions.

Just my personal feeling but he sure strikes me as a smarmy turd and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
So, not one bit of difference than any other scumbag in the MFM.

Yep, Lyle, I nobly refrained from highlighting the name--I virtue signal and pat myself on the back!
Posted by: emzed | September 11, 2017 at 05:18 PM
Curiously, I realized it immediately.
I did, too, and it led to a murderous rage that still hasn't fully abated. I went to the trade center two or three days after the attack. Had to pass cops on the West Side Highway checking car trunks for bombs. The ruins were still smoldering, and people were walking around like zombies, holding pictures of their loved ones. Pictures were plastered everywhere.
"Have you seen my father?"
"Have you seen my wife?"
"Have you seen my son?"
I'm not proud to say it, but something inside me wanted to kill Muslims after that. Even now, when I see head-covered mothers with their little sons at the mall, I think to myself, "These will one day be my son's enemies."
Obviously, I'm not going to strap on a six-gun and go hunting them, but so few of them were penitent after 9/11 that I just about hate them now. Not all, of course. A Muslim surgeon at Sloan Kettering saved my wife's life, and I work with numerous great people of the faith. But the feeling is still there after all this time.

Huzzah, emzed!
Posted by: lyle | September 11, 2017 at 05:21 PM
Extraneus,
I went to school with a couple of Muslim guys, and had an Iranian as my first boss at the coal company. Nice guys but dismissive of women (although the students always asked me to correct their papers before submitting).
I am conflicted because I see so many weaving themselves into the fabric of this country and they are truly an alien culture. Then I feel bad because of Sisi and King Abdullah, because I think those guys are pretty good leaders and allies.
Wictor thinks there is a big change goingon in Saudi Arabia (secret trip of Crown Prince to Israel is one such example). I also noticed Melania wore no headcovering the whole time the trumps were in SA and Jared Kushner, an Orthodox Jew, has been received as an emissary of the President multiple times.
It's a horrible way to feel, because you KNOW all of them cannot be murderous barbarians, yet every single one you don't know personally you distrust.
At least that's how I am.

Emzed:
Liked your posts today.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer had a picture of one person falling head first on its page covering 9/11.
I can still see it in my mind's eye.
Yes I recognized the sounds of people falling but worse for me were the people at the windows waiting for a helicopter rescue.
There was even an account of a helicopter missing the first time but then rescuing some amidst the smoke and fire.Sad today was a young girl after reading her group of names just having tears rolling down her cheeks and her shoulders sagging.
Cavities had a son of Mr Fazio who held the door for others and was probably hit by debris.
His daughter is 18 months and knows about her grandfather.

I don't know.
He lost to Ed Gillespie in the Republican primary to run for Governor of Virginia.
I voted for him. He gave Gillespie a run for his money & all he got was negative press.
I don't know though. I can't read Virginia. Half the prim Virginia Republicans bail on Republican candidates if they are too rough & loud.

Can't remember where I heard it, but someone who was in the South Tower (the 2nd building hit) was told after the North Tower was hit, "Remain where you are." This person said, more or less, "The hell with that, I'm out of here." If he was anywhere above the 70th floor or so, that saved his life.

Well, narciso, we're stuck with Pope Che for now. (I really like that name. 😊)
Pope Benedict in exile has not remained silent. He picks his spots, and speaks with courage. It will be up to the body of the Church to determine the outcome.

When you surface. Dan Fagan sat in last week for a local Talk Radio Host for a few days and wound up endorsing Mark Begich for Alaska's next Governor.

JOMers, do I/we need to worry? Instapundit:
SAD! IPAs Are Giving You Man Boobs. “Those hops in your favorite IPA are actually wonderful medicine for insomnia and menopause, thanks to their high phytoestrogen content. These same phytoestrogens, however, can also cause a condition known among brewers as Brewer’s Droop.”
Beer used to be brewed with yarrow instead of hops.

Ext - A long time ago, I went to kindergarten in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles. It was mostly a mix of Mexican and Jewish (with gold BofA signs in English and Hebrew), but there were others, too, from all over the world. I later thought that I knew why those Lebanese came to the US, why the Russians came, the British, the gypsies and all the others who made up that neighborhood. We were all Americans.
Today, post-9/11, when I see veiled women, I wonder why *they* came here. Linda Sarsour has made it clear to me that she does not want to be an American.

Legumes have more phytoestrogens than beer does. Especially soy.

Breaking News! New sanctions on North Korea at the UN passes 15 to 0.
Don't know if in the long run it'll really accomplish anything positive, but its a heck of a lot better than Obama 's UN weasel, Samantha Power, unjustly joining the conglomeration of Evil Nations in damning Israel.

daddy,
Am listening to Baier interviewing Pompeo of CIA.
Recommend watching the replay.
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | September 11, 2017 at 06:19 PM
Important stuff from Pompeo interview (only caught last half):
Trump supports intelligence community and war with IC is a construct of media.
Trump is a good consumer of intelligence, asks hard questions.
Pompeo is in White House every day, often stays longer than scheduled.
Iran is probably a consumer of NK technology, although he can't be sure. Norks have a history of spreading technology around.
