A CNN exclusive, so yeah, this might be more Russo-phobic fake news:
Exclusive: Fake black activist accounts linked to Russian government
A social media campaign calling itself "Blacktivist" and linked to the Russian government used both Facebook and Twitter in an apparent attempt to amplify racial tensions during the U.S. presidential election, two sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN. The Twitter account has been handed over to Congress; the Facebook account is expected to be handed over in the coming days.
Both Blacktivist accounts, each of which used the handle Blacktivists, regularly shared content intended to stoke outrage. "Black people should wake up as soon as possible," one post on the Twitter account read. "Black families are divided and destroyed by mass incarceration and death of black men," another read. The accounts also posted videos of police violence against African Americans.
Who knew Putin was so woke? Well, wasn't it Putin who said "Chaos is a ladder"? Some evil-doer, anyway. The Russians backed disruption in 2016, with great success.
Rich,
That's what I figured.

At yesterday's President's Cup opening, Obama stood with his hand over his heart when the anthem was played, along with W and Billy Jeff and all of the American players, captains, caddies, etc.
Interesting. He seems to be going out of his way to avoid doing anything overtly political these days, at least in public.

Can we agree that the Russian fake Black Activist accounts have had about as much effect on American political life as the fake Russian collusion with the Trump campaign or the Russian fake white supremacist accounts? Putin must be laughing his ass off at how all of a sudden his timewasters in the American dirty tricks division are being taken so seriously.
Posted by: boatbuilder | September 29, 2017 at 02:11 PM
From the article at Legal Insurrection posted by Extraneus earlier:
To me, at least, the “locking of arms” by the Packers and Bears last night only exacerbated the problem. The crowd reacted by chanting “U.S.A., U.S.A.”
That is my view as well. Unless they stand and show respect as required, they are still insulting the flag and the country. What they did was cave for the sake of their salaries, but they did it in a belligerent way. No half measures will do, IMO.
Even at that, their brand is damaged perhaps beyond repair. Professional sports teams should take notice or FEMALL.

Deb - did you think the Horn editor was back-peddling? I thought she was defending the librarian 100%.
I also note that Horn turned off the comments sections under the librarian's "Open Letter to Mrs. Trump" and now has turned off comments under her (the editor's) comment.
Editor even claimed that the librarian didn't send the letter to Mrs. Trump! What would you call "An Open Letter to Mrs. Trump?" Typical leftist attempt to ignore the obvious.
Also - the Horn editor tried to say that people saying ugly things on Twitter were worse examples to "the children" than the librarian's letter. Why would the children be reading comments on Twitter? While it appears they will be aware of how the First Lady was rudely treated by one of their adult "role models!"

sbw,
Not at night unless it's illuminated. Another little nugget of proper flag etiquette.
BTW, VFW does an excellent job on Flag Code. Not the US Code but in handling the flag, how it is to be displayed and when. Also, they will take all damaged or worn flags from you and dispose of them correctly. I was on the Flag committee at my old post.

Notice how many REALLY REALLY REALLY SMART PEEPS have all kinds of monoric CRAP to say about how we should honor our Flag and National Anthem, in any manner EXCEPT how it's always been done.
WHY ARE WE DOING THAT??? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. Because some pile of shit named KAEPERNICK has decided to be disrespectful and a PATHETIC RACIST DEMOGOGUE....WE and THE PRESIDENT are somehow WRONG.
Again, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?
Posted by: GUS | September 29, 2017 at 04:21 PM
In catlick grade school we were taught flag etiquette each year during the first week.
We were taught raise the flag properly, fold it when taking it down each day at the end of school.
We were taught to put our hands over our hearts during the pledge of allegiance said during the opening minutes of class time following morning bell and recitation of the Apostles Creed.
We were taught to stand at attention while singing the National Anthem. Students who put their hands over their hearts during the anthem were routinely punished with yardstick swats to extinguish the behavior.
California San Francisco east bay area 1961- 1969. Things have changed.

Pretty clear what French was thinking since he, get this, published his thoughts for the wine and cheese crowd at National Review.
>>>President Trump’s call for NFL players who take a knee during the national anthem to be fired was a troubling assault on free speech ...<<< (the intro to the French piece)
It isn't a free speech issue-the NFL is a private employer and the players are governed by league rules and a cba which allows for a conduct policy. Behavior during the national anthem is specifically spelled out in the league rules. Others had pointed this out. Trump just amplified it. Kapernick started the protests last year and the league did nothing about it.
>>>I apologize for offending you but it drives me, and others, crazy.<<<
Glad you are a mind reader. Porchlight found out it is a fact that French sends his young kids to private school and it seems unarguable that French looks at the 'culture war as a theoretical issue'-pretty much like the whole of national review looks at conservatism. So theoretical now that National Review isn't even a for profit money making venture, but a 501c living at the whims of their patrons.
How'd his presidential bid go?
