That's what I figured.

Captain Hate

Tammy is slattering the librarian.

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

So what is the story about the butterfingers?

At yesterday's President's Cup opening, Obama stood with his hand over his heart when the anthem was played, along with W and Billy Jeff and all of the American players, captains, caddies, etc.

Interesting. He seems to be going out of his way to avoid doing anything overtly political these days, at least in public.

I'm probably the only kid in America that hated Dr. Seuss books. I was woke before woke was cool.

local coverage ...

The First Lady had donated 10 books to one school in every state ... the one in Mass was the only one to get snippy about it.

While I'm confessing I didn't like Charlie Brown and Big Bird either.

Pretty sure Dr Seuss was a lefty, though the Lorax story is the only one I can think of that was overtly political.

I didn't get the politics. I just hated I do not like green eggs and ham. It seemed ridiculous even to a beginning reader.

Say it ain't so, Sue?

No Dr Seuss for Sue.

The Reading Grinch.

Cambridge moonbat published her letter on the Horn Book's Family Reading blog

The Reading Grinch who stole our Library.

its true. And my very liberal daughter decorated her nursery in aDr. Seuss theme complete with wall mural. I wonder what she will say now that Dr. Seuss is considered a racist?

Horn Book Editor back-peddling madly.

Trouble in Paradise:

Is there a good way to invest in Dr. Seuss? I expect a run on his books next week.

Cambridge is where police act stupidly, according to Pres. BOzo.

Can we agree that the Russian fake Black Activist accounts have had about as much effect on American political life as the fake Russian collusion with the Trump campaign or the Russian fake white supremacist accounts? Putin must be laughing his ass off at how all of a sudden his timewasters in the American dirty tricks division are being taken so seriously.

From the article at Legal Insurrection posted by Extraneus earlier:

To me, at least, the “locking of arms” by the Packers and Bears last night only exacerbated the problem. The crowd reacted by chanting “U.S.A., U.S.A.”

That is my view as well. Unless they stand and show respect as required, they are still insulting the flag and the country. What they did was cave for the sake of their salaries, but they did it in a belligerent way. No half measures will do, IMO.

Even at that, their brand is damaged perhaps beyond repair. Professional sports teams should take notice or FEMALL.

Janet 🚬

That librarian was just virtue signaling to other leftists.....self centered bragging about treating the Trumps with hatred.

Paying Goodell any more than minimun wage to decide that NFL would :"When the Cowboys wanted to send the message that police officers should not be hunted and assassinated, the NFL gave a clear answer: no."

IMO paying Goodell anything more than minimun wage is insane.

lol ... and just because I'm the type to ask: When does Jane apologize to Miss Marple for the uncalled for comments regarding the French piece now that even Rich Lowery has found a problem with it?

I'll be waiting for a really long time.

It was the librarian, Sue.

too bad the Müller Stasi Office won't raid the home of fecesbook executives at 4 in the morning.

I didn't like Charlie Brown and Big Bird
Early CB is really aimed at adults. I've never seen more than 3 seconds of SSt, but watched the Muppet Show regularly--in college.

Captain Haiku Meets Mr Geisel

I do not like them
On a knee, I like them
Not at all, you see

During a parade, we would always stand at attention as the flag passed by, with those in uniform saluting.

Back in my day, we had to take the flag in if it rained. We’d put it up in the morning and take it down at dusk.

Now it can be up all the time, rain or shine.

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

"When does Jane apologize to Miss Marple for the uncalled for comments regarding the French piece now that even Rich Lowery has found a problem with it?"

I never defended French or anything he wrote Rich, so I'm unclear what you want me to apologize for. Point it out and I will.

Clarice Feldman

The Dr Seuss books are good for beginning readers I think00ket's them master the notion and identify some words.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I do not like the NFL
And they can all go straight to hell
Not in bar, not for a fee.
They'll never be on my TV.
They can bluster,
They can brag.
I'm loyal to the Grand Old Flag.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Pulled my back lifting boxes. Worked like hell.

I am cooling off and sipping on a glass of wine and then am going to lie on my back for a while.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Quite a bit of information in this post.

Deb - did you think the Horn editor was back-peddling? I thought she was defending the librarian 100%.

I also note that Horn turned off the comments sections under the librarian's "Open Letter to Mrs. Trump" and now has turned off comments under her (the editor's) comment.

Editor even claimed that the librarian didn't send the letter to Mrs. Trump! What would you call "An Open Letter to Mrs. Trump?" Typical leftist attempt to ignore the obvious.

Also - the Horn editor tried to say that people saying ugly things on Twitter were worse examples to "the children" than the librarian's letter. Why would the children be reading comments on Twitter? While it appears they will be aware of how the First Lady was rudely treated by one of their adult "role models!"

This is when you've reached peak Costanza:

Even the Never Trumpers on Twitter are piling on the stupid librarian.

Maybe Horn's works need to be reviewed for there indoctrination effectiveness.

Ralph L

Lowry's post has 17 comments from fewer people. I'll bet NRO has lost a lot of visitors.

Momto2, to be honest I didn't read past the editor's first sentence. My fault for assuming facts not in evidence, as justifying the Cambridge gal's ugly, ungracious response to a gift didn't enter my mind.

The Library Journal also had to turn comments off in its puff piece on Ms Soeiro.

Someone on twitter suggest Mrs. Trump send the librarian the Rush Revere book series. Ha!

Oh, dear.

The West Point commie cadet has apparently tweeted that he would happily dance on McCain's [redacted] grave. I hope everyone can appreciate the predicament that puts lyle in... 😬

common man

Will you dance with commies? The Tango?

I hope most of Mrs. Trump's school choices weren't well-heeled like the Cambridge one. I'd prefer she look at Title I schools and reward the best of the best of those.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Back later.

Ralph L

Lyle Will you dance with commies?
Better tell him who's leading.

Slam dance him Lyle. It's a win/win.

I wonder if they checked the NFL?

Captain Hate

The complete unwillingness of the educrats to accept any criticism from the outside has to be witnessed to be believed.

Not at night unless it's illuminated. Another little nugget of proper flag etiquette.

BTW, VFW does an excellent job on Flag Code. Not the US Code but in handling the flag, how it is to be displayed and when. Also, they will take all damaged or worn flags from you and dispose of them correctly. I was on the Flag committee at my old post.

We Boy Scouts learned back in the 1950s how to fold and care for the flag. Did the same at summer camp in the 1960s.

I could do a nice tight triangle.

New thread

Notice how many REALLY REALLY REALLY SMART PEEPS have all kinds of monoric CRAP to say about how we should honor our Flag and National Anthem, in any manner EXCEPT how it's always been done.
WHY ARE WE DOING THAT??? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. Because some pile of shit named KAEPERNICK has decided to be disrespectful and a PATHETIC RACIST DEMOGOGUE....WE and THE PRESIDENT are somehow WRONG.

Account Deleted

In catlick grade school we were taught flag etiquette each year during the first week.

We were taught raise the flag properly, fold it when taking it down each day at the end of school.

We were taught to put our hands over our hearts during the pledge of allegiance said during the opening minutes of class time following morning bell and recitation of the Apostles Creed.

We were taught to stand at attention while singing the National Anthem. Students who put their hands over their hearts during the anthem were routinely punished with yardstick swats to extinguish the behavior.

California San Francisco east bay area 1961- 1969. Things have changed.

good grief.

So you can't? No surprise there.

>>>But you don't know what people are thinking (which you constantly post as fact.). I'm interested in your opinion but please have enough respect for the rest of us, to not say it as fact.

I apologize for offending you but it drives me, and others, crazy.

Pretty clear what French was thinking since he, get this, published his thoughts for the wine and cheese crowd at National Review.

>>>President Trump’s call for NFL players who take a knee during the national anthem to be fired was a troubling assault on free speech ...<<< (the intro to the French piece)

It isn't a free speech issue-the NFL is a private employer and the players are governed by league rules and a cba which allows for a conduct policy. Behavior during the national anthem is specifically spelled out in the league rules. Others had pointed this out. Trump just amplified it. Kapernick started the protests last year and the league did nothing about it.

>>>I apologize for offending you but it drives me, and others, crazy.<<<

Glad you are a mind reader. Porchlight found out it is a fact that French sends his young kids to private school and it seems unarguable that French looks at the 'culture war as a theoretical issue'-pretty much like the whole of national review looks at conservatism. So theoretical now that National Review isn't even a for profit money making venture, but a 501c living at the whims of their patrons.

How'd his presidential bid go?
