So when Don Trump Jr. meets with a Russian in order to get dirt on Hillary it's "Begin impeachment hearings!". But when Team Hillary spends millions hoovering up salacious Russia dirt it's just politics as usual, move on.

Ann Althouse notes the connection to the other Russian investigation that the FBI hid from Congress because, well, other than its potential to embarrass Barack and Hillary I don't know why they hid it.

So no one answered my question in the last thread about what makes this shocking news, when it had been reported that the DNC was behind the dossier.

I'll answer with this comment over on Althouse:

"Isn't this old news? What about this is surprising or shocking? Why should I care about the DNC doing oppo research?"

1. No. The DNC and Clinton campaign denied they had paid for this.

2. Maybe. For most people, who expect Clinton to lie, this is not shocking. For people who believed her, or at least, believed the media's reports, the fact they've been lied to for a year might be shocking.

3. The DNC didn't do "oppo research." They paid foreign intelligence agents to fabricate evidence, which included colluding with Russian intelligence agents and assets to create a dossier on Trump, and then fed it to the Obama administration, who, despite a cursory review revealing factual inconsistencies with the dossier, used it to get secret FISA/warrants on the Trump campaign, which was then strategically linked to the press.

That about does it?

To answer CH's question "Do Catholics read the Bible?" I'd have to say just about never in 12 years of daily religion/theology classes.

Yes, yes, of course individual Catholics read the Bible; it's not a forbidden practice or anything. And we certainly hear plenty of it, with two Epistles as well as a Gospel each Sunday and holy day of obligation.

But my guess is you could ask the next 100 Catholics you run in to to recite one of the three cited lines, and maybe one could give you one of them.

My husband the heathen who took a one semester course on The Bible as Literature in his public high school (back when they were in to education) is far more familiar with the Bible than just about any Catholic my age I know, except the converts.

FTR, I do own four Bibles, and grew up with one in our living room bookcase , as well had my own since age 12.

The Department of Justice needs to appoint a special counsel to investigate the Obama-era Uranium One nuclear deal, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley said on Tuesday.

In a statement posted to Twitter Tuesday night, Grassley called on “whoever in DOJ is capable” of appointing a special counsel to do so, noting that “‘whoever’ means if [you] aren’t recused.”

OK, so here is the question. Who should be appointed? I don't want Fitz. I don't want Andy McCarthy. I don't want Preet Bahara and I don't want anyone remotely connected to the Mormon Mafia. I don't want anyone that the "top men" at the DOJ and the FBI would find acceptable because I don't trust any of the "top men" at the DOJ or the FBI. Enough of swamp critters investigating swamp critters. I want an Elliot Ness type with the least amount of ties to the Feds as possible, and if he happens to be an outsider who loathes everyone in DC and New York City that is fine by me.

Anybody got any suggestions?
