Just saw those Kendall Jenner photos about three threads back. Funny!

Muellermas looks to be a bust for the left. What a surprise. But keep hope alive! Low level nobody was trying to get a meeting!

Meanwhile, Tony P. knocked back some Chardonnay with Curb Dive just yesterday.

That story already bores me, I linked the piece from powerline about the apparatchik than enabled Mueller:

The indictments (and rectal exams) have served one major purpose already:

People have to think twice about whether they want to work for Trump (or any GOP nominee) because who wants their whole life history under an FBI/Justice microscope?

In this sense, the Dems/GOPe have already won.

 narcisoyea

As stein has pointed out many times, 'the punishment is the process'

mockmook

And, I hate that people are pooh-poohing this Manafort thing.

A rogue prosecutor on an endless fishing expedition (enabled by Sessions) created a process crime to punish someone who had the audacity to work for Trump -- it is an egregious abuse of our legal system AND THERE IS NO END IN SITE.

I am ok with Manafort getting it square in the groin. He was playing Two Americas and lost. Sorry pal but your scheme was criminal and you got busted despite what club you belonged to.

As far as Sessions, here is how I see it. When Trump sacked Manafort the story was "Campaign in Chaos!!" What Sessions has done is showed that a Trump's instincts on who to shitcan are impeccable. Even Mueller couldn't find fault with Trump's course of action.

Manafort gets less than zero sympathy from me.

Thomas Collins

Hold the presses! The hell with indictments, NoKo nukes, taxes, health care and trade agreements! Garoppolo to the 49ers for a second round draft pick.

Did Clinton's experience with indie counsel or GWB's in the Pflim Pflam Pflame Pflambe deter people from working in successive administrations?

I'm taking a different view that Deep State wins by intimidation on this deal.

Agreed, the fishing expedition could do some damage--- but lethal damage? I doubt it.

The important difference between indie counsels of the recent past and the one of today, there are real crimes and extreme instances of corruption by an Executive Branch cabinet officer doing the bidding of a corrupt President in the pockets of foreign powers (The Rat).

Real crimes are going to get prosecuted. But it's going to take a while to get the cases constructed let alone prosecuted. In the meantime, POTUS is abiding by Napoleon's adage--- "When you see your enemies making mistakes, do not interrupt them."

Further, what happens once names become known with regards to the rank-and-file deep staters who are holding their secret meetings to conspire against the President and the government itself?

Pressure is mounting on the rotting heads and now the fungus in the feet and the deteriorating musculature of the legs is going to be revealed (release of Klein's next haymaker won't be pretty).... this bodes well for the "undecided" who are uncommitted to either the Deep State or the President.

We've been told that people have chosen sides. But I think the meaningful side-choosing has yet to happen. Now that it's investigation and indictment time, the stakes are much more prounounced and defined than they were at election time.

So so many people dint think Hildo was going to lose. And then she did. And then the Deep State staged their coup, as lame and frustrating as it has been (because they were hubristic and smug failing to plan).

I think POTUS is going to destroy his enemies. And that's why people will have to choose sides. They are either going to help by kicking in some timely and telling intel on the Deep State "dignitaries" who were counting on profiting from a Clinton coronation; or, they are going to slink off in the night to a non-extradition country with their ill-gotten insider trading loot.

mockmook

Oh BS

These are two separate issues, two separate investigations. One is actually damaging people, the other is completely theoretical and likely will never happen (not in a meaningful sense, not with prosecutions).

Sure, its easy to be blase about people being prosecuted for the horrible crime of not filling out some paperwork -- that is unless you are the one being targeted.

Re the MS13 thugs, I posted a rant about that some time ago only slightly tongue in cheek:

The Pee Wee Herman rule - every gang dude who is easily recognizable by his gang tats is fair game to have his head blown off by any citizen without worry of reprisal by the constabulary. The only recourse for the thugs is showing up at the bodega wearing a Pee Wee outfit. Bow tie, pants up under the armpits cuffs up near the top of their socks. No hat. No facial hair. No posturing.

How long would that take before they decide that Central America isn't really all that bad afterall.

Queasy Comey is too smug and arrogant in his reaction to Manafort's indictment.

Following Monday's revelations, Comey shared a quote from American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr on his private Twitter account.

"Man's capacity for justice makes democracy possible, but man's inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary," he wrote.

Why didn't *his* FBI take care of the crimes listed? they happened on Queasy's watch. Did Eric "My People" Holder or Loretta Lynch tell him not to deal with the matter?

I'd be very disappointed if the president pardoned Manafort. The monetary cheating he did with offshore proceeds was super sleazy and he should pay a price for that.

I'm sure he supports Trump's idea to make offshore money easier to repatriate.

Miss Marple

Cheerleader,

The indictment is always written to make things sound as bad as possible.

Also, repatriation of corporate money legally held off shore is not the same as concealing foreign bank accounts.

Ack! 4 AM! Back to bed for me!"

cheerleader

Nitey nite.

I was thinking more of the laundering aspect, money brought into the U.S. illegally.

cheerleader

"Sssssshhhhhhhh....Don't struggle.....It'll all be over soon...."

...said Democrats to each other on election night, as they waited with bated breath for Hillary's big win.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Assuming what they have accused Manafort of is true, it's not a process crime but a fairly major felony.
However that is a large assumption.
Not as large as the task facing poor Weedavey of trying to sound convincing that he's excited about the phantom meatgrinder that cometh, but pretty large nonetheless.

Now, I'm not sure where I stand on whether foreign income should be taxed but it is, so he's likely got a problem. The question I have is why he would take such a high profile job knowing he's got something like that sitting out there and knowing as a Republican he has no possible recourse to Dem prosecutorial immunity.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

When Lileks affectionately ridicules old, kitschy stuff he's funny.

"Weinstein tells pals scandal happened so he could ‘change the world.’"

I do wonder if the outing of every man/woman and their dog will give the ratbags a free hand to spend most of their time attacking Trump for sexual deviancy.

henry

David, I don't know about Trump in particular. The big risk is the end of the presumption of innocence in sexual allegations from anonymous sources, as the college Title IX processes worked. Simply denounce whomever, and take his stuff. No defense allowed. All men are rapists per SJWs.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

In Hollywood in particular, some women will have figured out that instead of gaining fame by sleeping with a director, they will be able to hit the talk show circuit by making false allegations.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Oh, here's Eric Erickson on Fox defending Trump on the Russia charges.

I guess he discovered there wasn't much money in being a NeverTrumper.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Seems to me it will have the opposite effect, Davod.
What prog will bring up some jock talk from 20 years ago that was in fact true when they get 100 worse prog examples thrown back in their face? They may still bring it up but the rest of the wrold will be laughing at them.

As far as henry's concern, there's been very little talk of lawsuits or prosecutions.
Prog bigwigs might not care if some frat kid gets railroaded but they won't allow their own ass to get knocked over by a cowcatcher.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

The reason I was curious about the source of that quote regarding how Mueller would be wrapping things up shortly is because if the source was Trump [and it was, through Sanders] then it is probably true.
As I hope most of us have learned by now, when he or his people say stuff like that it usually turns out to be true down the road, though ignored or ridiculed by progs when first stated.

I've heard that theory before, henry. Given the events of 2016 I'd say anything is possible.

Big news out here on the indictment is that Manafort could lose his Bridgehampton home if convicted. Don't know the logic there but I guess his defense will wipe him out.

That's how we roll out here, if it isn't real estate in the news then it isn't news.
