When you're making excuses for losing before the contest has begun, you know what we call you? A loser. Or a Dem Senator:

Senate Democrats worry Russia could jeopardize reelection bids

Now I took that headline to mean that Senate Dems are worried that continuing an endless investigation into one of Hillary's many talking points about why she lost is wasting their time and annoying prospective voters. But no:

Democratic senators such as Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Jon Tester of Montana — who hail from states President Donald Trump won in 2016 — know they're already facing stiff reelection challenges.

Now they’re concerned the Trump administration is dragging its feet on thwarting sophisticated Russian cyber operations that could have significant impact on their races — and could even sway which party wins control of the Senate. The red- and purple-state Democratic seats are top targets for Republicans hoping to expand their two-seat majority in the Senate; Democrats likely would have to hold all of them if they are to have any hope of retaking the chamber.

Oh for pity's sake - they haven't even lost (yet!) and they are whining about the Russkies. Ms. Heitkamp may as well blow the misogyny trumpet while she's at it.

I can help a little - they need to advise their top campaign staffers to avoid clicking on dubious email links that may be Russian spear-phishing attempts. Too late for John Podesta but not too late for them! Two factor authentication for critical email accounts might be a good idea too, and its not as cumbersome as might be feared.

Thinking about the smartphone addiction brings a couple of issues to mind.

When I was a little kid, about six, lambing in 30 below weather in Feb. was the main job and the barn seemed comfortable by comparison. As each ewe reached her moment, we would climb into her pen to help, particularly when twins were evident. I really had a tough time literally getting my hands dirty. Finally there was a moment when you just did it and after that there was no reticence. I think a person's day job has a bit of that lurking.

So, today, we either sneak a look at our fave social fix or slip out the back for a smoke. Anything to keep from getting immersed in the job moment. That little transition through the bubble either does or does not happen. When the whole shop ends up not going through, you end up with what most companies look like today, if you look close enough.

Back from the grocery, where I discovered my debit card missing. Since I used it at the gas station prior going to the grocery, either I left it there or lost it somehow. So, after checking out and NOT being able to pay, I drove to my bank branch, reported it lost and put on permanent deactivated status, had the teller check my balance (hadn't been used after gas station), got cash, went BACK to the grocery, paid, loaded car, came home, and unloaded.
