Al Franken is borrowing from real comedians with his latest defense:
Franken, who said he has posed for “tens of thousands of photos” over the years, says he does not remember any that included his hand sliding down to cup women’s backsides, as several have alleged.
“I don’t remember these photographs, I don’t,” he said. “This is not something I would intentionally do.”
We all remember 'Just say "I forgot".'
OT right out of the chute Mik Mulvaney is doing a whale of a job responding to CFPB questions. Listening right now and quite a quick mind. He said he will institute a 30 day hiring freeze, etc. Terrific responses to the typical prog questions.

Bringing this over from the last thread:
Mulvaney has initiated an immediate freeze for everything coming from the CFPB for 30 days so it can be thoroughly reviewed. He mentions that is has at least 100 Law Suits pending or ongoing against various companies at the moment and he also knows that the CFPB has a $50 Million fund that he wants to know more about. As to Ms English he just stated the following:
Mulvaney: ...I want to make it clear I have not seen the lawsuit yet (from Ms English), I don't know if I've been named as a Defendant. I've hard a rumor that I have been named. I've not seen the Law Suit, nor have I been served with one, so I'm speculating about whats actually in a Law Suit, but I have read accounts that one of the assertions is that this Agency needs to be independent. Yet at the same time I hear today Media reports that Ms English is on the Hill meeting with Mr Schumer and Ms Warren, and it makes you wonder who she wants to be independent from? Does she want to be independent from everybody, or just independent from Donald J trump? My guess is that it is the latter...

Good afternoon! I saw a demonstration driving back from errands and I must say,I was surprised. The group demonstrating was organized by the SJW group Indivisible. I noticed a few older hippie types and younger SJW types. The signs said "No tax cuts for the rich" and the usual blah, blah. I guess I'm surprised because I thought everyone here in paradise is happy. :) The traffic was backed up at the red light at major intersection and I didn't hear any car horns honking in solidarity with the demonstrators.

More Mulvaney as I'm replaying the tape. He put a 30 day hiring freeze at CFPB effective immediately.
Mulvaney: The President wants me to fix it (The CFPB) Wants me to get it back to the point where it can protect people without trampling on Capitalism...
---We both share the belief that this Agency under the previous admin had gone too far towards strangling access to capitol...
---My opinion of the structure of the CFPBhas not changed. I still think it is an awful example of a bureaucracy that has gone wrong when it is almost entirely unaccountable to the people that are supposed to oversee it or supposed to pay for it...it is wrong to have a completely unaccountable Federal Bureaucracy...I am just learning about the powers I have as acting Director. They would frighten you...

Jane "Another democrat slush fund bites the dust."
Even better, I like to see the outside law firms handling those 100 suits have to shut them down and submit final bills and go away. Those fees are just another pipeline of tax money feeding the left.

Mulvaney, says it does not surprise him at all that there is a battle for who takes over like Ms English has started, in an Agency that has no oversight...It is a completely unaccountable Agency.

Typical Franken non apology: I'm sorry if I offended you. Tbh, I don't think what he did was all that bad compared to what Slick has gotten away with, but Franken is the type of unfunny turd that the trash state of Minnesota regularly drops in the punch bowl so those losers should own him.

Pushing back on the questioners:
Mulvaney; ...I will be as independent from Donald Trump in this role as Richard Cordrey was and Timothy Geitner was from President Obama...
...As to Miss English, yeah, if she wants to show up here tomorrow, I think she is still employed here...we've certainly not taken any steps here today to terminate her...I honestly don't know the rules yet...I don't know if a no-call, no show for one day justifies termination...Maybe she took a vacation day for the long Vacation Weekend... We are going by the book when dealing with Ms English.
Posted by: daddy | November 27, 2017 at 04:50 PM
"...I am just learning about the powers I have as acting Director. They would frighten you..."
First, he should have said "will frighten you" because that would suggest he is going to list them for all to see.
After he has that list, he should write "Congress" and object to being assigned such unchecked power and explain that he will only keep the lights on long enough for Congress and the President to revise or abolish the law.

Lou Dobbs is going to love replaying pieces of that later today. Sorry, I ran out of tape, but loved Mulvaney's point when he talks about how with all that money and all those tools they let Wells fargo slip under their radar screen and that he has already asked questions of CFPB personal and he wants and expects a report by tomorrow on how the Agency missed something so obvious like that.
Library run. later.

JiB: what you said about the civil service employees with their unions piqued my interest---
a bit of familial history. Pa was the newly hired Chief of the Federal Aviation Administration Control Center at Indianapolis in 1981. His boss, Ronald Reagan, order him and the other chiefs around the country to terminate striking air traffic controllers with cause and their union (PATCO) was decertified as well.
Game over.
The union bravado was their only move as they thought the President wouldn't do the unthinkable although they'd done the illegally unthinkable to go on strike and to hamstring the negotiations with their continuously reprehensible behavior at the bargaining table. (Pa has a million stories.)
The media was shellshocked.
It was seen by some as the act which got Reagan's administration untracked after being hamstrung by the GOPe (party of Bush) that stacked his admin with the likes of Reagan's political enemies proxy pantloads in suits.
I have a hunch that POTUS is going to pull the pin on a number of similar shockers right after the Christmas holidays.
These will be decisions that are consistent with the Constitutionally authorized powers of the Executive Branch of our government, such as what Ronnie used to torpedo PATCO and the highly leveraged controllers who were choking on their bad real estate loans and high interest rate business ventures (they thought their wages would go up indefinitely in value despite the rapacious inflation that was eating them alive.)
POTUS has a lot of room to operate. And I think he knows it.
What really strikes me about all of these goings on in Pantload Land is that the Pantloads *believe* that POTUS doesn't know what he's doing.
Not respecting one's enemy is the kiss of doom for even the truly most powerful adversary.
That the Deep State has hitched their wagon to a team of ponies like Liz Warren, Chuck Schumer, and Pelosi Galore--- and still expect to "win"--- is the deepest form of disrespect.
POTUS for the win in 2018.

Pathetic. Does she believe she is like Napoleon in exile awaiting the moment to take command of an army loyal to her, to retake power (as Democrats like to call it--- as opposed to say "getting elected to serve or represent")?
I used to, unwisely, give her credit for showing some grit in 2008 by running a campaign where all the cards were stacked against her in favor of Cock Curious. She isn't a natural pol like Slick is in terms of being a gregariously outgoing type (all in service to snagging cooch, but that's another story) and had to force herself into not being awkward while interacting with people. At least that's the way it seemed from a distance but who really knows...
Anyway, she was an absolute disaster as SoS and it doesn't even matter if that's because she was enacting Zippy's terrible foreign policy or not because she was a mentally ill nightmare. So everyone got to see what she would be like in a position with more responsibilities than naming post offices and the picture was horrifying. Black Africans are being sold as slaves in Libya today thanks to the destabilization which she oversaw.
We all owe DJT thanks for keeping her out of the White House.

Nov 27 (Reuters) - Lawsuit over control of u.s. Consumer financial protection bureau is assigned to u.s. District Judge Timothy Kelly -- court records Kelly is a former chief counsel for national security and senior crime counsel to u.s. Senator Charles Grassley Kelly was appointed to the federal district court in Washington, d.c. This year by u.s. President Donald Trump.
No TRO issued. Government gets another day to file it's answer to English's suit.

I mean if an Obama judge caught the case, maybe we would have some drama of a ridiculous ruling. I don't see that happening with a Trump appointee who is more likely to issue a straight ruling.
