Happy Thanksgiving, safe travels, and do find a few things to be thankful for. I, choosing off of a long list of candidates, am currently thankful that the whole Paleo diet thing need not be 24/7/365. Well, unless cave men gorged on apple pie and ice cream in which case, Paleo-up!
From today’s world we live in.........
All the members of the company's Board of Directors were called into the Chairman's office, one after another, until only Ted, the junior member, was left sitting outside.
Finally it was his turn to be summoned. Ted entered the office to find the Chairman and the other four Directors seated at the far end of the boardroom table.Ted was instructed to stand at the other end of the table, which he did.
The Chairman looked Ted squarely in the eye, and with a stern voice, he asked:
"Have you ever had sex with my secretary, Miss Floyd?"
"Oh, no, sir, positively not...!" Ted replied.
"Are you absolutely sure...?" asked the chairman.
"Honest, I've never been close enough to even touch her...!"
"You'd swear to that...?"
"Yes, I swear I've never had sex with Miss Floyd, anytime, anywhere…"insisted Ted.
"Good. Then YOU fire her."

Good Morning. MM @ 7:l0,very interesting! When the Puritans punished someone from the community, they were banned and sent to the wilds of Maine.
Here's a history question...why wasn't the 1820 decision called the Missouri/Maine compromise?

Look at this: the Daily Mail made an entire story out of President Trump's tweet about playing golf with Tiger Woods:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5114179/Trump-play-golf-quickly-Tiger-Woods.html
The White House seldom admits when Trump is playing golf
But the president tweeted the news himself on Friday, saying he would hit the links with Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson
But he insisted that he would do it 'quickly' so he could get back to work
Trump last played with Tiger Woods last December; the former world number-one player said he was 'impressed' with 'how far he hits the ball at 70 years old'

I guess that last one was kind of perverted, but people are throwing a lot of words around these days. "Sexual misconduct" seems to be the catch-all phrase for anything from making a comment to forcible rape. Hard to keep track!

perhaps it would be easier if the bathrobes wee cuter. I would appreciate though not knowing some things. It's what i get for being an early riser who skipped going to see justice league last night.

It never occurred to me that would offend someone.
Far more of me is covered up in my pjs than when I'm in gym shorts

Let me guess---you don't like men in shorts, and one should refrain from doing errands in yoga pants.

Hah, I had a fun chat with a pal in Santa Cruz yesterday. She mentioned that she ordered a cooked turkey from Whole Paycheck in the morning and when she went over to pick it up, she threw on a hoody sweatshirt over her shorts and flip flops. After she got her place in line for pick up, she glanced around and noticed she was over dressed compared to everyone else standing there.

no i like men in shorts unless ill-fitting and i run errands in shorts and yoga pants. I just don't want to know my neighbors run around in such unattractive attire while looking right and left to make sure no one is looking. One is apparent when I am in kitchen making tea and the other when I am at computer when my peripheral vision notices motion.
cornbread dressing and cranberry sauce make a lovely post thanksgiving breakfast.

Re the spiritual awakening with certain drugs, I've been a longtime student of the subject without actually partaking even recreationally (except for a little pot in the old days). LSD, certain mushrooms and maybe Ayahuasca are clearly in the realm of having an affect, assuming you are a candidate and the environment is properly arranged. The most interesting stories came from the mushrooms. Terrance McKenna told of meeting the same scary higher beings any time (or anyone) took a dose of a particular mushroom. Gummint researchers in the 50s before LSD became a 'thing', discovered certain individuals were cured of alcohol addiction by getting a greater sense of their world.
I think my hesitation about ever doing any tripping was a combination of unknown quality of the product along with the legal constraints.

cheerleader,
Of course Friedman was weaselly, but the interesting thing is that he was weaselly while saying the policy was a good thing, when it is 180 from what Obama and Bush did.
What it said to me is that the policy of the Crown Prince has a good chance of working and Friedman wants to be on the winning side.
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | November 24, 2017 at 09:26 AM
Friedman got his signature story the shatila fratricide, wrong, as to the perpetrator which in turn framed the Beirut bombings as somehow justified, only widlanski has called him on it.

"It was basically to discover what was there, and it was the most startling research that's ever been done. It has been public for some time. The press has never paid attention. The political class won't pay attention. But what we found from the beginning was the level of discontent in this country was beyond anything measurable, and I believe worse than any time that we have ever seen in our country."

Jack,
Most of the people who post here are farily comfortable in their lives. Imagine how discontented the average guys are, the ones who are stuggling with Obamacare's cost, stagnant wages or (not as much now but back during the election) unemployment, the deterioration in schools, crime, etc.
If you ask me, the establishment should take their undeserved retirement and be grateful that a mob didn't descend on Washington.
Here is another thing I think: the reason they don't want to leave, and the reason they hang on and attempt to stymie President Trump is that they are afraid if they leave, worse things than what we already know will come out. Look at how we found out about the sex scandal slush fun. Now think whatever other crap is hidden in their budgets and their "committees"!

Great to read all the above stories about the many variations on Thanksgiving cooking. I'm with jimmyk, cooking turkey shouldn't be that hard, unless you over-think it. I have a smoker, but would never try to smoke something as big as a full turkey in it, although maybe in the future I'll try to smoke a turkey breast.

My son will go with me but I am going to drive, as his glasses were broken in the accident. He says he thinks his shave kit with contacts is in the car (it had the last load of stuff he removed from the place he was renting) so hopefully we will find those. He has the lenses of his glasses so those can go to Wal-Mart for cheap frames next week.
