Here's a feminist who resolutely refuses to learn from the past:
I’m a feminist. I study rape culture. And I don’t want Al Franken to resign.
Her gist - Yeah, I'm a Democrat, but however bad Franken is the Republicans are worse. And they won't resign in the face of scandal so why should we?
That is the deal that saved Bill Clinton and eventually torpedoed his wife, so how is this strategy working out for the Dems?
First in your hearts, ladies. Last in your desire. Sigh!

From the last thread...
Here is how you can tell the Roy Moore vs Doug Jones polls are all rigged.
http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign-polls/360807-fox-news-poll-obama-has-higher-favorability-in-alabama-than-trump
Who in their right mind would believe a poll that has Obama with a higher approval rate than Trump in Alabama? That poll had to have a 3:1 (maybe even 4:1) ratio of Democrats to Republicans in the poll sample for Obama to beat out Trump.

Tom R,
There's also no question asking how the respondent voted in the 2016 election. Very telling omission.

The way this is going, in another few weeks, the only man in America who won't have been accused of sexual assault/harassment will be Mike Pence--who is looking like a friggin' genius long about now.

--Serious question to any women here. If some guy pinches you on the ass, why would that make you feel ashamed? Would such an event "scar you for life"?--
I wouldn't feel ashamed. The pincher might regret it though.
good for you, D. i defer to no man - even Beats - in my unreconstructed passion for the fairer sex, but can honestly say i've never "pinched" one's ass (that's painful, no?) or even just fondled one belonging to a complete stranger. It seems to me that the unspoken factor in most of these cases is that the guys involved are basically pathetic losers who clumsily take something that is freely given to those with a modicum of charm and masculinity.
It's also why misandrists and pajama boys have such an illogical reaction to the bush tape. what they really can't bear is trump's unapologetic masculine cockiness - and him calling them on their shit.
Posted by: exdemocrat | November 17, 2017 at 04:27 PM
derwill,
Kirsten Powers thinks that the reason Mike Pence won't be alone with a woman is that he can't control himself. (Rolling my eyes here.)
I explained to her it is to not give the occasion for gossip and to avoid false charges. This is the EXACT same rule that Billy Graham followed, and it is a good one.
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | November 17, 2017 at 04:41 PM
you really believe that this tape would be a non-issue in a civil courtroom, because a jury gathered in New York, California, or Washington DC
Oh, so now it's a civil court in a liberal bastion where you dream of getting Trump? You're showing some serious ugliness, Appalled.

As I think has been noted, Franken's actions are in public opinion and and expression of his general being-a-jerk, not really legal and not really fitness in office.
A lot of fun to hold up to the Dems.
These pushbacks are needed. I remember how gratified I was after seeing scattered but growing recountings of the Mitt "dog in the cartop carrier" story. First reported in innocuous letters to the editor in New Yorker type magazines, then in more prominent venues. Clearly intended to become a major campaign metaphor.
Until ... until it came out that former Pres Obama had eaten dogs. Suddenly the chatter just died. Artfully done!

*sigh*
I am condemned to being misunderstood. So it's clear, let me come up with a colloquy...
Q. You say you want Trump to be impeached and removed?
A. Yes. I also want a million dollars. I don't see any legitimate way either will happen in the next few months.
Q. Well, you could have been clearer.
A. Agreed.
Q. Now you make a big deal about this Billy Bush tape. What's your problem with a couple guys talking smack?
A. None, really. If it weren't for male boasting, a lot of blues artists would have nothing to say.
Q. But you insist it's illegal.
A. Talking smack is legal. I say that Trump, if he kissed the women without their consent, committed an illegal act. It sounds a lot like what Al Franken did to that broadcaster on the USO tour.
Q. He didn't fondle their breasts and have his brother take a snapshot.
A. True, that.
Q. Anyway, you really aren't comprehending what Trump is saying. He says the women always want it. They are giving their consent. He's really implying that he doesn't act unless he knows they want it.
A. It doesn't read that way to me. I don't think it will sound that way in a Court of Law.
Q. Oh Christ, Appalled, this is what we all hate about you. You already said this isn't illegal, so what is this court of law crap...
A. Hey, now. The problem isn't the tape itself, really. It's the sexual harassment lawsuits that currently exist or may arise will all grab this piece of evidence, and use it to demonstrate state of mind, a pattern of behavior, and use it in the public sphere to demonstrate that Trump is just the sort of guy who would sexually harass someone. A jury, exposed to this, is more likely to think like me rather than you.
Q. Jesus Appalled, you keep this sort of thing up, the only person you will be talking to is yourself....

When I read what the latest Moore accuser said it didn't pass the smell test. Every woman I have ever met would have either slapped me in the face, swatted my hand away or gave me a verbal lashing if I had pinched them on the butt and they didn't like it.

"the only man in America who won't have been accused of sexual assault/harassment will be Mike Pence"
And Appalled, evidently, since he seems to be the one exception to my proposition on the last thread that every guy has "groped" a woman on a date. Either she makes it clear she doesn't want it, or she lets it go on. Precisely as the Donald describes it (though in his case she always lets it go on, even though in the earlier part of the tape he describes being rejected).

If I understand correctly, I think Appalled is earnestly informing us that there is another view of (political) reality out there.
Many of us soak in that world view, esp those of us living in benighted blue states. We come here to hang out with like-minded friends, etc. So the effort is not really useful.
Yes, of course, it is possible that Trump would be impeached. Yes, based on the evidence, that would be an unjust outcome. Yes, of course, the Dem Deep State could be uprooted and replaced by a Trump Deep State which could do lots of bad deeds. Yes. Yes. Yes. But not relevant to the JOM experience.
Posted by: JimNorCal | November 17, 2017 at 05:25 PM
"A jury, exposed to this, is more likely to think like me rather than you."
- on the contrary, those of us who have presented arguments to juries in real life (rather than just on TV) find they're generally pretty good at understanding the plain meaning of our language.
and in the unlikely event that a jury mistakenly found the billy bush tape probative that Trump is "just the sort of guy who would sexually harass someone", such a finding would (rightly) be ample grounds for reversal on appeal.

You know, it just dawned on me why Trump tweeted about Franken. He knows that whatever he says, the MSM/Dems/GOPe's knees will jerk and they will take the opposite stance.
He wanted them to defend Franken, and now they are. Franken won't resign now, and they've already stopped asking him to. So now we'll get to test Scot Adams theory that if Franken is allowed to stay in the Senate, then Moore will win his election.

While there are some similarities, Indianapolis, which is shown in the Midlands, was settled by a lot of Germans and Scots, with Danes and Italians arriving later, not Quakers. Welp this race is already shaping up to be more hilarious than anything Katshit was in. Betty was the Congressthing who replaced the Restraining Order when he went to the Senate and then was redistricted and lost to Jim Renacci:
Stephen -
You may have already seen Justice Bill O’Neill’s comments regarding sexual harassment and assault in government—but if you haven’t, let me be the first to show you:
This is disturbing, especially coming from a public official. As an attorney I'm appalled at these remarks of a Supreme Court Justice, as a democrat I'm horrified a statewide candidate would belittle victims of sexual harassment and assault this way and as a woman I'm outraged he would equate sexual assault with indiscretion. It’s wrong to trivialize this. He should resign immediately.
In the wake of the many recent reports of sexual assault and resignations, I announced a plan to fight and prevent sexual harassment and assault in state government and the workplace. The very next day Justice O’Neill bragged about his personal relationships, belittling this important conversation and those who are survivors of sexual assault and harassment.
Ohio needs leadership that takes sexual harassment and assault seriously, and as Governor, I’ll do everything I can to make sure survivors are taken seriously and perpetrators are given real consequences. Add your name below to sign on to my plan and pledge to help me fight sexual assault and harassment:
Thank you,
Betty Sutton

Good Morning! Way behind and just wiping the sleep out of my eyes, but just heard this exchange from a guest on FOX Business explaining the change in the Dems on Taxation between the days of JFK and today, and it made great revelatory sense to my un-economic foggy brain. The FOX Host posts pics of the top 10 richest politicians in Congress, says 7 are libs,
FOX Host: Look at this data , 7 of the 10 richest members of Congress are Democrats, only 3 are Republicans. What does that tell you?
Dan Henninger: It tells you that the Dems are not opposed to making money, they just don't seem to want anyone else to make money... Again, what this Tax Reform is trying to do, is to put enough capital out there in the Economy again that entrepreneurs are going to be able to access it and build jobs. The Democrats seem to have completely lost any connection with that sort of entrepreneurial instinct.
FOX Host: It's not our parent's Democratic Party. JFK's Democrats have totally vanished. Look at this data. The top 4 richest Americans are all Liberals; Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg. Why are Conservatives always painted as "the rich ones?"
Henninger: Well because it suits the Democrats to do that. And you make another interesting point about the past. In the past the Democrats were aligned with a lot of Private Sector Unions that represented auto workers, mine workers, steel workers. Those Unions understood that their fortunes were tied to their companies, to the success of their companies. Now the Democrats are aligned almost completely with Public Sector Unions, and their success is designed, is connected, almost entirely to their ability to beat Tax Revenue out of everybody else.
FOX Host: That is such an important point, because the Unions back in JFK's era were about jobs and wage growth, right? And growth, because now the Public Sector Unions of the day are about Government growth.
Bingo.

We need Walker conking local RINOs on the head for a while longer. Our taxes are still in the lofty zone where we are "screwed" by the end of SALT deductibility. Several of these jerks keep trying to sneak tax increases into the budgets, or into the Foxconn deal, or anywhere else they can find. "Republicans are worse. And they won't resign in the face of scandal"
Bob Packwood? Bob Crane of IL?
The F "Republicans don't resign". Teh projection is strong in that one.
But, I guess when you have no morals, no principles, and no shame, a strong ability to project is pretty much par for the course

"Thomas Wictor said that if the devil were a woman she would look just like Gloria Allred."
Wrong. If the Devil were a woman she would look like Leanne Tweeden and act like Gloria Allred.

"Probably Packing" IMO, Millions more Americans after proper training, should be packing. IMO, it is far better than waiting for someone to save you.

Katrina Pierson is on and when she says that the people of Alabama should decide about Moore this black gal from Johns Hopkins starts complaining and she says "If the people of DC can re-elect a mayor caught on camera smoking crack cocaine with a prostitute..." whereupon the other gal, who just said when asked about Franken, said we shouldn't bring politics into this, starts saying there should be a special counsel for the pussy tape and what about those 12 women (the Gloria Allred ones) and yelling and carrying on so Henry ends it.
My gripe is why Reines got to be by himself and then Katrina had to be on with that other obviously democrat in disguise gal.

I should clarify that Katrina mentioned the DC mayor and the other gal was the one who was bringing up the pussy tape.

Matt--Kudos for pointing out that Franken's fratboy stuff does not rank very high on the scale of sexual misconduct, particularly in the political class. However the "hoist on his own petard"* aspect of it is simply irresistible (apologies or credit to Robert Palmer, who apparently did his share of consensual groping), as is the spectre of the alleged feminists twisting logical pretzels.
Unfortunately the Dems are way too machine-controlled to allow the Republicans to grab a seat while the Dems are split between Franken and some other nominee. What kind of political party would be stupid enough to allow that to happen?
*Extra credit for anyone who can tell me what a petard is.

Roseanne is back. She thanks people for worrying about her and says she will have an explanation later.

Well my take on the last 24 hours is that Hillary has successfully destroyed Bill's legacy because she refused to accept the results of the election. And little Al Frankenstein and Kirsten Gillibrand helped.
Delightful!

boatbuilder--
I find it disgusting--not for the touching, which was relatively mild--but because he did it while she was sleeping, and unaware, and thus was defenseless.
And because he took a photo of it and later used the photo to humiliate her.

Good night!

Agreed, Derwill--but on the scale of things it is fratboy stuff. (My apologies to any fratboys who might be offended, but I don't think there will be a lot of those.)

Btw, I think a petard is a small bomb. So hoist on one's petard is to be get blown up by one's own bomb. Comes from Shakespeare, I think. Maybe Hamlet, although I wouldn't swear to it.

Haven't caught up yet, but I notice Reuters and FOX now are calling the FBI Informant who'll testify a lobbyist.
Last night on Hannity's Show Jon Soloman and Sarah Carter were on saying that he was not a Lobbyist, he was a Consultant, and stressing that distinction as if it makes some significant difference. My take was that lobbyist could allow the Press to make him look like some paid shill, thus undermining his character, integrity, and motives right from the git-go, whereas his true role as a Consultant is totally different, and does not carry a connotation of suspect venal innuendo.

I respectfully disagree with the frat boy stuff. She told him that if he ever did anything like that again... And isn't that exactly what she said the groper would say, "it was just a joke."
If that were my wife or daughter, one of us would be dead and the other in jail.

This is a good explanation of the events in Saudi Arabia, much of what I had picked up from Thomas Wictor but in this article it is all consolidated and easy to read.
In the comments there is someone who said she thinks that they are setting up to have Mecca operate like the Vatican and the rest of the country be a secular state.

Right you are, Derwill. Why I felt the need to look it up is beyond me...
"Shakespeare's phrase, "hoist with his own petard," is an idiom that means "to be harmed by one's own plan to harm someone else" or "to fall into one's own trap", implying that one could be lifted (blown) upward by one's own bomb, or in other words, be foiled by one's own plan."

I find it disgusting because you just know he's done far far worse and it simply hasn't come out yet.

"-but because he did it while she was sleeping, and unaware, and thus was defenseless." I agreed with Rocco @08:03. She had already told him "No More"
Franken was just insulting her. IMO, the man should not be writing laws that the rest of us have to obey. That is why I think he should be removed from the Senate
Senator Kennedy wrote 2500 bills according to some reports and 300 of them became laws. I am not able to find out how many of them were written after he murdered the lady he offered a ride, but I will guarantee the much of the leftist movement of our nation was caused by him not being removed from the Senate after he killed her.

The ‘pictures 2,3,4,5,6’ part of Trump’s early tweet got me thinking about what hasn’t come out yet, like Trump has seen them and knows how precarious little Al’s position is right now.
