I found the theme of this article disturbing and highly plausible: by seemingly Eerie Coincidence the Obama Administration began investigations of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump last summer. Not to say that they were political dangers to the Dem Establishment and their anointed successor, but still.
Bernie Sanders probe proves FBI really is in tatters
- The FBI probe of Jane Sanders, wife of Senator Bernie Sanders, is reportedly still ongoing.
- The enduring probe is the latest example of the growing politicization of the FBI and other federal agencies.
- The government's overall credibility is suffering its worst crisis in decades.
Now, it may be that Trump keeps this investigation alive to derail Bernie 2020. And to be fair, this need not be viewed as a Democratic thing - an alternative view is that the bipartisan Washington Establishment (aka "the Swamp") hoped to see off the insurgencies in both parties.
In any case, for anyone having second thoughts about Trump's ascension, just re-visit the impact of a Hillary victory on the rule of law. She would have inherited a weaponized IRS from Obama. The FBI does appear to be a lot more interested in Bernie and Donald than they ever were in her obvious, willful mishandling of classified info and utter disregard of the Freedom of Information Act. I should add that my layman's perusal of the FOIA tells me that violations are met with administrative sanctions, not criminal charges, so it was up to Barack to bring his unruly subordinate back into line. As if. And when Hillary chooses to ignore subpoenas from House and Senate Republicans, well, they are empowered to have a political response rather than a judicial one.
All that said, if Hillary were in the White House with a fifth nodding-head progressive Supreme Court Justice and the inevitably compliant press, just what would hold her in check? And how often would successful legal recourse involve a donation to the Democratic Party or a Hillary-approved PAC or foundation? Hey, would the LAPD and NYPD be investigating Friend of Hill and Bill Harvey Weinstein? We'll never know, fortunately. But we do know that the progressive men women who have finally decided to believe Bill's accusers would still be mulling things over until Hillary moved on.
Obviously this is not a new objection to Hillarity! but it is worth keeping in mind.
Ah Maguire--You Magnificent Cynic!

But many including myself thought we knew better, and wanted more of an ideologically pure moralist conservative.
It shows to go you that the president's political instincts are sharper than a lot of us, and that maybe its a good idea to follow the leader.
20-20 hindsight, that would have resulted in an R win, imo.

Narc, on what planet would we expect people at the McCabe/Rosenstein level to not know in detail what the IG is looking at? Rosenstein told Gowdy or Jordan that the IG's office has hundreds of employees and a huge budget. No way in hell these DAGs are getting carted off in handcuffs.

Good Morning. Catch up is going to be a bear today.
Lying in bed barely awake listening to Hannity on the radio for the last hour, with his guests Sarah Carter and Victoria Toensing kibitzing comments to Sean after Hannity plays clips of Jim Jordan on fire today going after Rosenstein. I hate Rosenstein's guts.
Posted by: daddy | December 13, 2017 at 05:03 PM
As was said on the previous thread, those guys like Gowdy and Jordan are all talk and no action. Jordan spends the whole time speechifying, and does nothing to force the question: Will you fire Mueller? If not, why not? Will you appoint a new SC to investigate the FBI? If not, why not?

That Jordan video was 6 1/2 minutes, I'm guessing that Jordan spoke for about 6:20 of it it and Rosenstein for a total of 10 seconds. Jordan would sort of ask a question, but not demand Rosenstein answer it, just go onto the next question. Not acceptable.

After watching all 3 of the videos, I have to ask what supervision is Rosenstein even giving. He knows almost nothing, what he does know he says he can't talk about, and any actions are going to be done internally.
This is total BS. He's dissembling and stalling. The Congressmen asked some good questions, but they really got no answers. What in the hell is that? Slam him with subpoenas and if necessary contempt charges. The refusal to say anything about the funding is NOT covered by classification rules.
How did we wind up with this holdover as second in command? Why hasn't he been replaced? Is there no one in Justice who could actually supervise Mueller, as opposed to letting him run all over the world grabbing all sorts of unnecessary information? Dop
es Mueller have some hold over Rosenstein?

So who's doing the exposing?
This is no accident. Somebody is behind this, otherwise it all would have stayed deeply buried (which I suspect was Meuller's primary mission--to keep it buried). But it's not safely buried. So again I ask who is doing the exposing?

The smarter of the 2 FOX redhead Business reporters named Liz is reporting that: Republican Senator John Barrasso is now extending a Uranium-1 probe that involved the Clinton Foundation, after finding out that the Russian owned mining company connected to the Clinton's was able to ship American Uranium outside the United States, despite Clinton's supporters making denials to the contrary.
After the Commercial break a talking head said that Barrasso is pissed off because he has been mislead by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission about this.

I don't buy this at all. Concerned Ala-blame-ians like Tom W would have been able to shut this down in the Primary very easily.
Not that many people decided that Moore and Strange were runoff material. All the non-nose holders that knew Moore was worse than a late term abortionist didn't make it to the consequential Primary seems more to blame than some alleged crossover voters.

Sine I am so far behind a question: Catherine Herridge on Brett's Show notes this Strzok E-Mail to his girlfriend Lisa Page on August 15, 2016, before the Election but after Trump won the nomination:
Strzok: I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy's office that there;s no way he gets elected - but I'm afraid we can't take that risk. It's like an Insurance policy in the unlikely even you die before you're 40..."
Is our current belief/understanding here at JOM that this tells us that Lisa Page was in McCabe's Office suggesting, in front of McCabe and Strzok, that they ought to do the illegal Russian Conspiracy thing to take Trump out before the Election, or is it saying that if Trump won then they would initiate the illegal Russian Conspiracy thing as a last resort to take him out after the Election?
Or is there a 3rd interpretation I'm missing?
Posted by: daddy | December 13, 2017 at 06:10 PM
I'm sure JiB understood all along that the Uranium 1 deal couldn't have happened without the NRC being aware of it.
Posted by: Captain Hate | December 13, 2017 at 06:11 PM
When President Trump first supported Luther Strange, he was being pragmatic, in that he thought Strange has a better chance of actually winning.
Let me never be the one to miss an opportunity to sing Donald J. Trump's praises, but I think the primary motive in supporting Strange was that Strange was the incumbent and there was no compelling reason not to support the GOP incumbent. I'm sure Sessions filled him in on Moore and the other candidates and probably advised him on a strategy.
As I said at the time, backing Strange was win-win. If Strange became the nominee, win. If Strange won the general, win. If Moore became the nominee, well, Moore was a reliable vote to MAGA, so a Moore win in the general was obviously a win. If Moore lost the general, well, Trump had backed Strange, didn't he? Must have been a real good reason for that.
The worst case scenario was that Trump would back Strange and then Strange would lose. But even then Trump could say to McConnell: "see Mitch, I did it your way, but the people are tired of the DC swamp." Win.
Trump always owns the downside. But he was never going to back anyone initially other than Strange.
Posted by: Porchlight | December 13, 2017 at 06:15 PM
daddy, the converation about the possible election outcomes apparently took place in McCabe's office. It suggests he later was in the plot, but I don't think it's dispositive..yet. McCabe had every reason to fear a Trump victory--like the "campaign contribution" to his wife.
Posted by: Clarice Feldman | December 13, 2017 at 06:16 PM

daddy, from CTH today: #2) …. And now we know why Andrew McCabe cancelled his scheduled appearance on Capitol Hill yesterday. He didn’t have an “Ohr” problem, he had a larger conspiracy issue that he was likely to be questioned about, and someone tipped him off. After McCabe’s cancellation the IG office distributed the text messages to the full House.
#4) ….And now we know, so far, on the FBI side of the conspiracy, the years-long IG investigation has captured FBI Agent Strzok, FBI Attorney Lisa Page, and FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
Likely the IG has also captured Bill Priestap, head of FBI counterintelligence and FBI Agent Strzok’s boss. Priestap was the guy who Comey blamed for not informing congressional oversight, and Bill Priestap was also the guy who went to the White House present the information against NatSec Advisor Mike Flynn along with Sally Yates (DOJ).

Discussion of the dossier being presented as intelligence instead of what it was, opposition research (and with falsified stuff, I would add).

Clarice - I follow RG on Twitter and relayed your message to him.

Lots of love to RG.
His chosen hymn lyrics make me mindful of this old Dwight L. Moody quote -
"Some day you will read in the papers that D.L. Moody, of East Northfield, is dead. Don't you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now. I shall have gone up higher, that is all-out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal; a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot taint, a body fashioned like unto His glorious body."
"this old clay tenement"...I love that.
And this from 2 Corinthians 4:7 - "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

It is a good thing I don't live in California. I would probably get arrested and be in all of the newspapers.

Thanks for that timeline link, Janet. By the time of that August meeting in McCabe's office, the players outed so far were hip-deep in malfeasance.

This is sort of amusing, and a big improvement over the stuff the Post usually runs.

Shutting your whore mouth might be a good first step. And never do that creepy smile thing.

That timeline was just for the dossier.
Strzok's other activities are missing: clearing Hillary's email system, clearing Weiner's laptop, editing Comey's get out of jail free card for Hillary, working with Mueller and Rosenstein to clear Uranium One for Hillary, possibly punting on the Awans (that would be a counter espionage case).
Tarmac meeting and search for "leaker" thereof is missing.
Non prosecution of Lois Lerner et al is missing.
Holder's gun running is missing.
Lots of corruption for your niece if she looks Ext.

This recent Thomas Lifson article is a pretty good overview - http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/12/fusion_gps_dossier_cabal_was_using_spy_tradecraft_to_evade_leaving_electronic_footprints_for_nsa_surveillance.html

The entire unmasking deal is DOJ / govt wide as well. Simply too much corruption to list.

Gosh, Porch--the Horde is as usual raucous and witty, but the flood of gay jokes--my, the flood! For a bit, I thought I was overhearing the popular guys in the 5th grade rag...and I do think Anderson Cooper is beyond the pale, certainly. Bad guy. But too many proctological jokes.

"June 20: Steele writes first memo of the dossier. It alleges that Trump used prostitutes during a visit to Moscow in 2013 and that the Kremlin was blackmailing him with the evidence. The memo also alleges that the Trump campaign was engaged in a well-orchestrated collusion campaign with Russian operatives."
Wow. Went with the big lies right out of the box. Timeline doesn't mention failed July 2016 FISA attempt, but does say the dossier was in Strzok's hands several weeks after its arrival June 20.
