The Rock, busy promoting 'Jumanji' has a funny Hulk Hogan story to tell.
The story includes video of a Hogan-Rock scuffle. I don't know why people think professional wrestling is fake - that fight looks totally legit to me.

Not fake. Prearranged. Big difference. It's an athletic feat to jump off the ring ropes, land near your opponent who is lying on the mat, and simulate a knee to the head of your opponent that would break anyone's jaw without maiming your opponent or yourself. Pro wrestlers are most analogous to stunt people who also are the main actors and actresses.
Fake is a big time actor or actress in action films who can't do the stunts.

I agree with TC, those wrestlers are serious athletes with prearranged results.

Saw an interview today on Fox that supported not further investigating Hillary Clinton because she had lost the election because "she was a corrupt person" so no further action is required.
I guess if I think I might break the law, I should run, probably for some hopeless seat, so that my failure to get elected would mean I can break the law at my leisure.

Since they got roided up I called them real life cartoons. But yes, a lot of them were high school and college athletes with either no way to make money after college, amateur wrestlers for example, or couldn't make it in the pros (Ron Simmons was an All American linebacker for Free Shoes but was undersized for the NFL; drafted by the Browns, he was cut and ripped but not enough mass).

Catsmeat,
When I was out with my friend today we stopped at CVS drugstore to get some things for me While we were there she was thrilled to find chocolate-covered cherries, which to her mean CHRISTMAS. They were a staple at her grandmother's Christmas goody table when she was a kid.
My daughter, son and I will exchange small gifts purchased at discount shops. The fun is in finding stuff that they like dirt cheap. A few days ago my daughter bought him nice bit cheap socks at Aldi's. The fun is not in the amount of the gift but in finding things which fit their personalities. One of the things I will be looking for is anything to do with the old cartoon strip The Far Side, which was my son's favorite when he was in high school.

Remember as a kid reading that wonderful book "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" and also seeing the darn good movie? Remember that scene where the girl is in the Library simply going thru the stacks starting at letter A and checkng out and reading every book as she goes along? Well the Librarian stops her sensibly and leads her to some great, more interest appropriate things for her. Well in the New book stacks in the Library today it struck me you could never let a youngster in this day and age do such a thing. They' d be stunned, appalled, and thoroughly corrupted by they time they got to Aardvark. What a world.

I loved that book "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." I think that is one I will check out on my next trip. Haven't read it since I was in my 30's.
Got to thinking about how schools brainwash kids. As I have said before, my daughter was a fine arts major ad then went back for a Masters in Library Science.
Here is how much school changed her: When she was an undergrad (sophomore and junior) she used to eat her lunch in her car at the art school while listening to GORDON LIDDY on the radio. She was a huge fan of his.
Now, she is a Bernie supporter. Just goes to show you.

Also, I want what Australia has, drones which tell the beach-going public when there are sharks about--could use such a thing all round Florida's coasts. The year I got Lasik (about 10 years ago) my first visit to Daytona thereafter found me marveling at the glories of the surf without glasses, but then I saw quite clearly a very large 10 footer of some sort making his unconcerned way south (it was mid-day, and so he wasn't feeding) about ten yards past where most of the beach revellers were reveling. Yelled like mad, but the surf covered it, and the shark just went on tooling by. But never forgotten, and then I thought of all the other sharks I had never seen there in years of summers just because I lacked the technology, as it were--gulp.

narcisoyes,
My very first thought about that video was why the mother put it on the internet.
Both of my kids suffered from bullying for a short time in middle school. Both of them overcame it with encouragement from me, help of friends, and a talk with the teacher. The idea of putting a video of my son crying on the internet (although not in existence at the time) would have never been my choice, as it would have encouraged MORE bullying.

JimNorCal,
You reminded me of an old family story.
When my grandparents moved to the Rio Grande Valley from Indiana, back in the 1920's, they lived on a ranch with my uncle. My grandmother (a city gal) was horrified that my father had to ride his pony to school. So uncivilized!
She got all of the locals together and they raised enough money to buy a school bus to pick up the kids. After about a week, my dad was riding to school on it and it broke down. Out in the middle of nowhere, Texas. I mean NOTHING for miles around.
My dad remembered sitting on the bus until long after dark, even though they had never even gotten to school, as the bus broke down in the morning.
Even in his old age he could remember the ranch parents showing up on horses, carrying torches,
The next day when my dad was ready to go to school, his pony was saddled and ready to go. No bus. His mother never said another word.

Reading the critique of George Will's column, it occurs to me that we need some plain speaking to those folks like Will.
They are snobs. Pure and simple.
They don't like President Trump not because of his policies (most of which they have promoted over the years).
They dislike, or even hate him, because he doesn't speak like the "educated" set, because he identifies with the working class, because he likes glitzy decor and his wife is a former super-model.
I saw this in my family. My mother was a teacher. My dad was a furnace repair guy and sheet metal worker. My mother's co-workers turned their noses up at my dad, so that they quit going to school social events.
Well, people who do that are demonstrating their low class attitudes and lack of respect for the people who make the country work.
So, to hell with George Will.

Reporter on Shannon Bream's Show says that they think the Inspector General report on the investigation into the FBI is supposed to take another 3 to 4 months. That's the report that Rosenstein and Wray and everyone else is using as their excuse to not do anything or not release any requested information. 3 to 4 monthsis the first I heard of how long that convenient excuse is going to continue.
I am not impressed, and it was good to hear Mukasey on Lou's show say that withholding info from Congress due to waiting on the IG's report is bogus, but oh well, what can Congress do except hold these "E'ffer's in contempt, which Eric Holder shows us is something that has no teeth any more.
