JNC,

Your link went to all the articles on American Thinker. Their home page not a specific article. So, yes, you were the one who linked it:)

Old Lurker

Banana Republic?

Make a list of the, say, ten qualifying determinants then see how many apply to us already.

Seems pretty late to be worried about the barn door.

daddy

Or this one from Iggy:)

William of Occam is our friend. Rube of Goldberg is not.

Boy, I love this place!

 narcisoyea

The oss, which was the model for the company, was founded by Donovan, mostly on what we would consider a noc basis.

Old Lurker

Cap'n is correct. We are already so far past the Rule of Law that soon our citizens who lived during those times will be gone. And I doubt the oral history, such as it is, will carry it forward.

Old Lurker

Don't those drugs lose potency after sitting on a shelf or in a safe for very long?

A'mom?

Extraneus

I read something not too long ago that said the expiration dates are usually bogus. Someone had pills from the 50's and they tested fine. Probably depends on the particular drug.

Extraneus

I think this is it.

JimNorCal

JiB it was intended to be a link to Clarice's :) :)
Her fame is spreading!

Without the basic civic understanding of rule of law, what difference does an Article V convention make? Given the schools have been pushing "positive rights" and "group rights" over the "negative rights" underlying rule of law, is it possible to return there? We know from Iraq ( a recent example) that you can't air drop a Constitution and expect good results. The culture has to be there to support it. I'm not sure our culture is much improved from banana republic status when looking at universities, government agencies, or HR departments in the private sector.

Seems to me any Article V has to follow cultural repair, it is useless to lead with one.

exdemocrat

summary of the Pompeo thing here, MM: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/937173884817854464

Captain Hate

Seems to me any Article V has to follow cultural repair, it is useless to lead with one.

That's a better response than I was expecting. Personally I thought there should've been an Article V immediately after Marbury v Madison to eradicate that, but that obviously didn't happen. I think looking at the electoral map from last November indicates that cultural repair is further along than you seem to think, but that's a subject we can debate further.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Thanks, exdemocrat!

Read through that summary and am listening and periodically watching when Pompeo is on to get a sense of whether that guy's assessment is right.

I didn't know much about Pompeo so this is very interesting to me.

sbw

+1 on exdem’s Pompeo link. Worth a read. Delicious. Deserved.

daddy

This is at the top of the Lucianne.com Home Page on today's "Must Reads"

If it's Sunday it's Clarice (and her birthday).

exdemocrat

so the left wants to bring Potus down for (allegedly) trying to prevent Obama's anti-Israel UN resolution AND for being an anti-semite.
do i have that right?

Jim Eagle

Let's remembere when you finish 1st in your class at West Point, you are not considered a dummy.

daddy

Police prompt fury by tweeting that a kiss under the mistletoe without consent 'is RAPE'

Is there a statute of limitations on this, or can they still prosecute the guy for Rape?

Jim Eagle

I was going to add, Pompeo mopped the floor using Panetta's old Swamp thinking dissing without breaking a sweat.

exdemocrat

..and for encouraging Russia not to escalate tension in response to Obama's rush-to-judgment sanctions AND for being a warmonger, right?

Jim Eagle

Do we laugh, cry or just not give a shit for this guy?

I doubt that I'll see anything for the rest of the year more enjoyable than exdem's link, which I'd probably have ignored if sbw hadn't pointed out how excellent it was.

daddy

Doing catch-up. Clarice linked to a Gateway Pundit column that stated this:

The New York Times reported that the Mueller gang which was created to find crimes related to President Trump, removed an FBI agent from the team because the individual was anti-Trump. This doesn’t make sense because the entire Mueller team is anti-Trump! Obviously, there’s more to this story.

Sundance provided the real answer yesterday:

TOP Mueller FBI Investigator Fired For Anti-Trump Bias – WaPo Attempts Proactive Intel Defense Ahead of Details Reaching Congress…

...an Inspector General investigation… led to Mueller firing the top FBI agent from the team...

Robert Mueller found out about the IG investigation and the reason therein. Mueller subsequently removed Peter Strzok from the team because he realized how damaging the documented communication would be if anyone found out about the inherent bias. That IG report will come out soon.

Robert Mueller did not fire agent Strzok for the bias or for the affair with Lisa Page; Mueller fired him because the IG discovered evidence of the bias and the affair.

Butt-covering 101. What die Mueller know about Strzok and when did he know it.

henry

JiB, laugh.

daddy--you're late to the game today. Strzok was Steele's contact with the FBI; he offered Steele $50k to find corroboration of the allegations in whe dossier (which Steele couldn't provide) and I am of the opinion this was a desperate move on his part because he used the dossier as the basis for the FISA warrant. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. The stonewalling is to prevent Nunes from getting documentation of this as was Strzok's reassignment to human resources. Nunes seems to have the same notion per Bloomingdale account today.

daddy

Had to do 0930 mass because Frederick was a Lector

Jib,

Have you ever considered having Frederick pull Lector duty in the Catholic Church in Mark Twain's home town?

daddy

daddy--you're late to the game today. Strzok was Steele's contact with the FBI; he offered Steele $50k to find corroboration of the allegations in the dossier

Thanks Clarice! Still a hundred comments behind but I guessed it was Strzok offering the FBI cash to Steele. Ha!

I also saw on a very suspect website yesterday, something called "Got News" that I could not link for some reason at JOM, that mistress Lisa C Page's mother is named Tamara and that she was big on FaceBook pre and post election damning Trump. On catch-up I hope I find out more about Lisa. She is essentially invisible, except for that one pic and innocuous comments on her FBI Job description. I wanna' know more.

Beasts of England

'That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.'

I like it a lot.

daddy

Nice to see the UK Daily Mail not letting a great Trump Tweet go to waste.

'Now it all starts to make sense!' Trump touts report that FBI agent removed from Russia probe exchanged anti-Trump messages with mistress - as House Intel leader complains that lawmakers were left in the dark

 narcisoyea

I was wondering about that daddy, Charles Johnson is the fellow who first flagged crowdstrike for their weak attribution of
The Sony hack, he also has followed up on a number of other stories if note.

GUS

Can they prosecute Ronald Reagan for chatting with IRAN before his inauguration?

Extraneus

I wanna' know more.

Me, too. Maybe Trump will tweet something about it, but he usually reacts to news instead of disclosing information.

daddy

Clarice,

This guy Scott Creighton, whoever he is, back in August wrote this long piece and seemed pretty much to have guessed correctly about most of what we've found out in the last 24 hours. Who is Peter Strzok and Why Does It Matter?

He also adds this guess:

...Strzok was there in that room to make sure the unnamed agents who conducted the questioning of the future Queen of America didn’t go too far or touch on certain topics. Then, as soon as Obama’s FBI director announced Hillary’s absolution, he was shipped over to oversee the illegal spying program they were running against the Queen’s competition.

It is unclear to this researcher at this time if Peter Strzok was one of the FBI agents who were given access to the laptop Anthony Weiner handed over to the Feds in exchange for keeping his perverted ass out of a state prison for child sex charges. I wrote before that it is PERFECTLY clear that laptop was not Weiner’s but it was in fact the missing BACKUP of Hillary’s server that she and Huma had made when they left the State Department.

My guess is, it was Strzok who was there for the evaluation of that laptop. The same guy who eventually said there was no “there there” to be found in it when Hillary got her second pass right before the election.

A reasonable guess? Probably. Comey probably had to address Weiner's laptop due to the media hype and publicly outraged New York Police, but the appointment of a Strzok type to oversee the investigation would have guaranteed the "Hillary is innocent" verdict Comey was looking for.

henry

Ms Page worked for McCabe (who's wife got Clinton cash via McAwful), and worked for Mueller's Special Coup team until a week or two before Strzok got sent to HR.

That gets ignored. Both lovebirds were in the SC office.

daddy

Ms Page worked for McCabe

Wow!

And Politifact used Lisa Page to prove that Trump was a liar about Team Mueller being Clinton supporters.

daddy

Without real punishment, I think they'll be emboldened and the banana republic will become a permanent reality.

I'm on the Ext side of the equation.

maryrose

I knew in time all would be revealed.
Occam’s razor supports your posts, daddy.
The top 4 football choices are correct in my opinion.
If Ohio State wants in they need a tougher schedule.

maryrose

I support Ext as well.
When no consequences occur, greater crimes will be forthcoming and perps become emboldened.

daddy

Why the heck is Chuck Grassley even mentioning Brian Ross? Senility?
For Grassley to say anything whatever about Ross makes zero sense.

Jim Eagle

My long last cousin, much older than me, was the chief Polygraph Examiner for the FBI. He is probably turning over in his grave to read adn hear all this about it under Mueller and Comey. How far they have fallen.

derwill

Reading between the lines of Trump's latest tweets, I think that Congress issuing contempt citations for the FBI and the DoJ is exactly what Trump has been after all along. He wants the country to see that the FBI was obstructing justice with regard to the Hillary email case, along with Fusion phony dossier, but he wants the exposure of that obstruction and corruption to come from outside his administration, so that he can act shocked, shocked, that this was going on. Let Congress start demanding an investigation into the whole rotten egg, and then Sessions can reluctantly agree that it must be done. Or he can then fire Sessions for not doing it and install someone who will.

How did the IG who caught Strzok know where to look?

And what else might he have found that we haven't heard about yet.

daddy

Because then he would be a "Hannibal" Lector:)

sbw

Amongst other things in an email to AP:

And, finally, don’t be silly. Calling the FBI Trump’s “own” FBI is absolutely disingenuous. AP knows that the trajectory of Strzok, Comey, Lynch, and, yes, Mueller, suggests there is more “independence’ to the FBI than operational control by Trump. Frankly, the FBI sounds more like J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI than its motto would suggest.

I look forward to AP getting up to speed.

I can imagine what the older alumni would think of this.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Seems to me that IG investigation shows why Comey was forced to reopen the Hillary thing; to save his own ass if the IG knew about those new emails they had but he did nothing.
It was a forgone conclusion nothing would happen of course but he had to make a show of things.

DebinGA

Nunes blasted DOJ and FBI for months of stalling and preventing him and the Intel Cmmt from seeing dossier related documents, which is irrefutable. From last March: Comey puts "gatekeeper" Gregory Brower in place to imo block Congressional access to key documents. Brower is ostensibly a Republican, appointed US Attorney-NV region by GWB and has worked various jobs in the DOJ and FBI during the Comey-Mueller years.

daddy

Guys what website is BJG Blog? I can't find it.

DebinGA

Greg Brower described as "key player in Russia probe" cited for "sex discrimination".

Captain Hate

If Ohio State wants in they need a tougher schedule.

They went 2-1 against teams in the top 10. The terrible loss to Iowa is what kept them out.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I'm with OL and Cap'n. The only thing worse than letting crooks skate is trying them and losing. Can anyone seriously think they could find a unanimous jury to fry Barry, Hillary et al's asses?
Not a chance.
We need cultural and political repair, which is what I recommended this morning; a Trump inspired, and for now, led, rejuvenation of the GOP into an actual political party outfitted for offensive political operations against the enemy, both foreign and domestic but especially the domestic one.

Without that rejuvenation, and it would take years, going after prog scalps now with their fingers controlling so much of our mechanisms of state they would likely emerge stronger from an attempt to hold them accountable.
That seems to me to be the unfortunate present reality. If we focus on changing the reality these creeps can die off knowing perhaps they're the last of their scum sucking breed with access to the trough.

DebinGA

Almost $300,000 in public funds awarded victim of Greg Brower, "key player in Russia probe".

sbw

The only thing worse than letting crooks skate is trying them and losing.

I understand the opinion but disagree with the conclusion.

One of the nice things about this country is that twelve people get to decide, not the prosecutor. Even guilty people can be acquitted, but that is the price you pay for a system that presumes innocence.

Captain Hate

As usual, Iggy gets it.

daddy

Thanks, Narciso.

hoyden

"... the price you pay for a system that presumes innocence."

Kathryn Steinle was not available for comment.

sbw

Trump is encouraging a groundswell of popular opinion to honestly investigate the abuse of power.

If that happens, then Trump will have fostered exactly what Ig and CH wish -- the desire to pursue those would undermine American institutions.

Well, I didn't advocate going after them, but I do think that Lois Lerner, for example, should have been stripped naked, pilloried and caned on TV.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

My sister and I attended mass at a church not too far away from my house. It's an older parish, and the church was built in the early 50's, I think. The school building looks to have been built in the 1920's - has a sort of "Bells of St. Mary's" feel from the outside construction.

What is interesting to me is that the interior is beautifully maintained. Carved blonde wood trim and pews, with the MOST amazing statues, including a Pieta in a small chapel.

My old Church was very 80's modern, so this is a pleasant change for me visually.

We may not see Hillary and The Rat get their heads severed and placed on pikes.

But we might see the beginning of the long game of destroying the Deep State along with the restoration of our institutions and the systems which have been corrupted.

For example, the land grant university system as a key player in teacher credentialing in all 50 states, and research money recipients for global warming boondoggles through the Department of Energy and other Lefty sham cabinet level "National Priorities."

Methinks POTUS is selfless enough to focus on refitting government and key aspects where it's colluding with the private sector to abscond with tax payer money. It aint sexy and we won't see the arterial splash from heads rolling.

But we will see the likes of a demagogue in the making like Kamala Harris shot in her crib before her machine has legs to walk around and revive The Rat's "transformation" agenda.

I can live with that. While we are at it, if-- as someone said here yesterday--- Hillary dies penniless on the street without friends then it would serve to broaden my calculated grin of approval as I watch Berkeley liberals clutch their pearls as DJT lives one more day to fight, while Matt Lauer takes one in the shorts, and Charlie Rose runs out of viagra.

Captain Hate

Extraneus

And just to beat a slightly moving horse, I don't mean to limit it to IRS employees. If the justice system punished ALL low level gov't employees who criminally act politically, that would make it more difficult for the people we think are too high to prosecute, like Barry and Hil, to bend the bureaucracy to their wills.

People in power should have to deal with a fearful and honest bureaucracy. Can't allow any of these Strzoks to skate, or else.

Captain Hate

You get it too, KK. I think DJT is concentrating on moving the nation forward to benefit everyone by setting things in place which will quietly root the rats out. Getting bogged down in a slow march through a thoroughly corrupt court system with no guarantee of justice being done is counterproductive at best, and will undermine everything at worst.

How did the IG who caught Strzok know where to look?

Good question, Derwil.

This bit from the WaPo story yesterday made no sense to me:

For one thing, if a foreign intelligence agency learned of such an affair, they could try to use it as a means of blackmail, although there’s no evidence anyone outside the FBI was aware of the relationship.

How the hell would they know that? If the IG knew, the Russians and other assorted bad guys certainly knew since it's their business to know. Especially when you consider that this dipshit Strzok and his girlfriend were reportedly E-Mailing back and forth how much they hated Trump in response to breaking news reports. Again, from yesterday's WaPo story:

The people discussing the matter did not further describe the political messages between Strzok and Page, except to say the two would sometimes react to campaign news of the moment.

My guess is Strzok and Page were like Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Conyer's, Cokie Roberts, etc--- Nobody knew nothing until suddenly a day after the revelation when everybody had known everything for decades.
