Are you ready for some baseball?!? The Yankees pick up Big Bopper Giancarlo Stanton in a trade with the destitute Marlins. So the team that led the major in home runs add the player who led the major in home runs and pairs the NL MVP with the AL runner-up. The Evil Empire is all the way back!
But even with Judge and Executioner they won't be the most intriguing team next year - the Anaheim Angels have picked up Japanese sensation Shohei Ohtani, a legitimate two-way hitter and pitcher. That puts the best player from Japan on the same roster as the best player in the game today (Mike Trout, obvi) and the best player of the previous decade (Hall of Fame lock Albert Pujols). Of course, they play on the West Coast so we never see them, but still, ESPN highlights will be fun.
We still have to toil through the balance of the NFL debacle and pretend to care about the Winter Olympics so being a sports fan is no bed of roses but still... Hope springs eternal and spring brings hope eternal.
Perhaps in their first two years together, the new Ruth and Gehrig will hit a combined total of 2004 homers, 2004 being a sequence of numerals having great resonance in Yankees lore!
Posted by: Thomas Collins | December 10, 2017 at 06:54 AM

Oh, that's right, James D. That season was cancelled!
But seriously, this should spice up the rivalry.
So is it Judge batting second, Stanton third and Gregorius fourth? Or does traditional baseball thought win out and a strikeout machine like Judge wouldn't be put in the second slot?

While the Red Sox fans among us cherish their team's few isolated moments of glory, the flailing Slimes have posted a major hit piece on Trump. It really is something, written in part by disgraced Maggie Haberman.
Among its choice themes is one that Trump is too stupid to understand the constitutional limitations of the office, while remaining completely silent as to his predecessor's utter disregard for same:
Quote:
Mr. Trump’s difficult adjustment to the presidency, people close to him say, is rooted in an unrealistic expectation of its powers, which he had assumed to be more akin to the popular image of imperial command than the sloppy reality of having to coexist with two other branches of government.
His vision of executive leadership was shaped close to home, by experiences with Democratic clubhouse politicians as a young developer in New York. One figure stands out to Mr. Trump: an unnamed party boss — his friends assume he is referring to the legendary Brooklyn fixer Meade Esposito — whom he remembered keeping a baseball bat under his desk to enforce his power. To the adviser who recounted it, the story revealed what Mr. Trump expected being president would be like — ruling by fiat, exacting tribute and cutting back room deals.
end quote--
The article also claims that Trump watches TV 8 hours a day, yada yada. I'm sure our blog master will do a better job of summarizing the article but it really is something. LUN
Posted by: -peter | December 10, 2017 at 08:30 AM
and apparently besides watching 8 hours of TV a day, he drinks 12 diet cokes a day.
Posted by: -peter | December 10, 2017 at 08:35 AM
peter,
This is ridiculous. From the very first his management style has been to let cabinet secretaries take ownership and handle things themselves, only being given goals. It has been most obvious with the military, in which Mattis was told to defeat ISIS and the details were left up to him.
The general who dropped that MOAB on the Pakistani intelligence installation didn't ask anyone for permission. He just used his own judgement and did it.
Tillerson isn't given detailed instructions. Occasionally he disagrees with the president. They work things out and come to a decision. (That was in an interview Tillerson gave.)
Anyone acting in the manner the NYT describes wouldn't have been supported by Jeff Sessions, a noted constitutionalist. He wouldn't have been able to get Mike Pence to run with him. He wouldn't have gotten Mattis to come out of retirement.
It's interesting that they think having TV on 8 hours a day is a sign of stupidity. I don't think he's watching Wheel of Fortune. He probably has news channels on to see what's being lied about so he can counter it.
Are they inferring that people who watch news channels are stupid? They probably should let CNN know about that.

One positive thing about the MFM's never ending Trump hatred is that it knocks off their coverage of other things that they'd normally be amplifying ad nauseam.
Coverage of all the staged 'rage shows' by Muslims because of Jerusalem seems pretty minimal so far.
It's covered, but not nearly as much as the MFM usually would.

He is both a strikeout machine and a walking wonder. I bat him second because of his high OBP.
Bonus Rookie of Year trivia - folks watching the World Series noticed that Dodger sensation Clay Bellinger had the same out pitch as Judge. To Judge, a righty throws a curve down and away. To Bellinger, the same pitch is in the same spot, but to Bellinger (a lefty) it is down and in. Strike three either way.

Thanks for bringing that up. I have read the speculation, but used MOAB as that is what most of the headlines said.
In this instance I am not as concerned about the type of weapon as the decision to strike, confident that the CIC had his back.
If it was "Rods from God," in a way it's even more impressive, because it's the use of a new weapon.

Janet, LGBTQ is the new POW WOW affirmative action.
I'm shocked. SHOCKED I TELL YOU, that the Neeeeeeling Football Losers, nfl, hasn't demanded a couple TRANNY linebackers or sideline spokesmodels.

Gus, between my husband fussing with his CPAP and my cat jumping all over me inthe middle of he night, my usually deep sleep was getting disturbed. After I started taking magnesium, the house could collapse around me and I'd still sleep thru the night. So I'm not suing KK.

While my prediction of a comfortable Moore victory holds true, the dems are pulling out all the stops to rally the vote for Jones. Last night in Huntsville, Jason Isbell held a well-attended concert/rally at a local music hall. My FB page is lit up with photos and tags for Jones. Wow.
