OK, I have been boycotting Woody Allen since the Soon Yi Previn debacle burst into the news in the early 90's, but Hollywood is finally getting on board. Slow trainwreck coming.

Allen is a talented filmmaker and a real creep. People have to figure out how to deal with that. When the only person who will go on record and defend him is Alec Baldwin, with his large collection of issues, things aren't looking good for Woody.

Well Woody may have not been the first to have pedophile sex but at least he was first to have Robot sex.
Hey, Jimmy, I got one of those Echo Spots the other day. It's a very cool gadget, and you can turn off the camera (or put a piece of tape over it if you don't' trust Amazon to actually turn it off). Liked it so much I ordered an Echo Show, her big sister.

The last time I liked Woody Allen at all was when he was a stand-up comic just getting started and apppeared on the Ed Sullivan Show.
I was about 12 so I probably liked him because I thought he was sophisticated or something.

According to their story, the romantic relationship started when Soon Yi was 21.
According to Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soon-Yi_Previn
So in that case, wouldn't André Previn be the father figure?
Anyway, I don't know anything about these two besides what I just looked into but I wish people would just leave them alone.

exdemocrat,
In the olden days we didn't know about artist's personal lives. For example, I didn't know about David Niven's political opinions or Cary Grant's sex life. I didn't know Danny Kaye was gay until after his death, as he didn't talk about it.
However, when they come out and tell us all of this stuff and get on Twitter and berate those who don't agree with them. then they leave me no choice, since by doing that they are asking me to approve them with support.
I will not.

His movies are real classics.
Take the Money and Run is hysterical.
Annie Hall of course won the Oscar and Allen got it for director.
A psychological drama with Martin Landau also good.
No one has a better handle on New York and Manhattan.
His depiction of California is really funny.
Keaton of course had the real acting chops.

Barack Obama wrote this poem as an undergraduate:
Underground
Under water grottos, caverns
Filled with apes
That eat figs.
Stepping on the figs
That the apes
Eat, they crunch.
The apes howl, bare
Their fangs, dance,
Tumble in the
Rushing water,
Musty, wet pelts
Glistening in the blue.

Oh,I love these inquiring mind stories. :) The memoirs of celebrities and rock stars are my guilty pleasure. Years ago I read Mia Farrow's book and she mentions that she never mentioned her father's (John Farrow) affair with Ava Gardner while she was married to Sinatra. Fun fact: Mia's mother was Tarzan's girlfriend.
I've always wondered how these Hollywood nutcases are able to adopt children. Joan Crawford? Madonna? Mia Farrow?

I liked Woody Allen a lot and I think many of his movies are terrific. Haven't seen a new one in a decade tho' and won't ever pay to see another one again. Growing up knowing nothing whatever about New York but Bowery Boy movies, I think the image I have of Manhattan and New Yorkers is about 90% a creation of Woody Allen.
I still love how Dennis Prager will use scenes from Woody Allen's movies to kick off talks on his Ultimate Issues Hour. The other day he played the clip of the young Woody refusing to do his homework because he learned the Universe will die someday so whats the use of doing your homework: Kicked off a great discussion by Prager.
Mrs. Singer: He's been depressed. All of a sudden, he can't do anything.
Dr. Flicker: Why are you depressed, Alvy?
Mrs. Singer: Tell Dr. Flicker. It's something he read.
Dr. Flicker: Something you read, huh?
Alvy Singer: The universe is expanding.
Dr. Flicker: The universe is expanding?
Alvy Singer: Well, the universe is everything, and if it's expanding, someday it will break apart, and that will be the end of everything.
Mrs. Singer: What is that your business? He's stopped doing his homework.
Alvy Singer: What's the point?
Mrs. Singer: What has the universe got to do with it. You're here, in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is not expanding.
Dr. Flicker: It won't be expanding for billions of years yet, Alvy. And we've gotta try and enjoy ourselves while we're here. Huh? Huh? Huh? [laughs]
I feel for Dennis Prager. He obviously loves or has loved the works of Woody Allen, and he loves Jonah Goldberg and Ben Shapiro personally, along with a few others old friends, yet he now has to deal with his heart liking them but his mind and wisdom being torn apart due to their irrational Anti-Trumpism.

I'VE been out and about all day, but I walked in this afternoon when the MD was giving his press conference.
He was talking about the mental part where he tested Trump and he was extremely fit mentally. Next question: Did you test for Alzheimers? "Yes and he scored 70 out of 70 indicating his mental health is excellent."
So does that mean he may have dementia? "We have no signs of that and to the contrary he tested very well."
But surely that doesn't mean he is not insane?
At that point I had to leave to be out and about again.

I cannot tell you how much I had to go through to clear this up. They would not believe me. How can you "prove" you were not in New Jersey? I was only able to do it because I was a flight attendant at the time and was able to show my work schedule and that I had been in Germany that week.
Identity theft update.
3 months back someone tried to get the Post Office to reroute our mail from our Anchorage address to somewhere in LA. We were called and asked if that reroute was authorized and Momma was all over it, filing a Police Report etc. So we got a Case number and all the rest and the Post Office said the case was closed and situation resolved.
Two weeks back I sold some stock and was waiting for a check by mail that never arrived. We also were wondering where were my paystubs that I usually receive every 2 weeks. I was on the road in Memphis under the ice storm, and Momma called the Post Office and they were delivering our mail (the stuff addressed strictly to me) to the LA address. She went bananas when she found out that the perp renewed his request to have my mail sent to LA and the $%^&* Post Office complied with his request. My check was sent to the perp. Momma could not reach me on Friday since I was sleeping in Memphis during that horrible fiasco. Then for the last 80 hours I have been on the phone constantly trying like hell to stop payment on the check but all I could reach was computers, no humans, due to the Holidays, so no way to cancel the payment. That is why I have been staying up to 4 AM my time trying to get the damn humans to answer on their MLKing Holidays back on the East Coast, but they never came in to the Office until this morning.
Finally this morning, after a 50 minute wait on hold with 2 phones dialed, somebody answered and I was able to get the damn payment stopped in time. Frustrating as all hell and making it really difficult for me to sleep but what a relief. Today I have been back at the Post Office hollering and trying to make damn sure they never ever again allow some jackass in LA to go into the Post Office and say he is me and demand my mail be routed to some shithole address in LA, but the nutty thing is is that there appears to be no safeguards at the Post Office. They can close a case, but then he can try again and they process it and say OK. I hate the Federal Govt and Federal Govt employees. That Missile moron in Hawaii with the passwords written in the photo for all to see seems to me to be par for the course for Fed Employees.
Anyhow, that is why I have been awake so much lately and relatively insane if you have not noticed.
Standing by for suggestions.
My guess is the perp's game is to get new applications for credit cards, fills them out, runs the cards up to the max, then I get dunned months later and the IRS comes after me. Hell of a racket.

daddy - what is really frustrating is when they won't pursue the thief. No wonder they just turn around and do it again.
When my mom was in her 80's she wrote a $10 to the Salvation Army and mailed it from her home mailbox. Someone stole it out of the mailbox and got her bank acct. # - her signature to copy, etc. When we found out they had used it to pay a cable TV bill and a cell phone bill. (They also took over $1500 from her account.)
So, of course, they could identify the thief - but they explained they did not because it would take "too much time and $" to track them down, file a police report, have to appear in court, etc. etc. The bank stated it must be over 5 figures for them to pursue!
She never used her mailbox again for anything important. Whatever happened to law and order?

My first boss was a crusty old guy who had graduated before WW2 from RPI as an engineer, served in the Navy, ran a damn minesweeper, lived, came back and joined the BIG company. We had a high 5-figure amount stolen, due to our bank's incompetent security. They restored the funds, but I don't know whether the perps were pursued or not. They caught the person trying to cash one of the bad checks, but apparently she wasn't the brains of the operation. Whether she gave anyone up we never heard, as it wasn't our case.

What is going on here? I think journalism as you conduct it is at risk.

JIB:
It is the media watching their latest ploy go up in smoke.
The desperation is going back to the the boss with no story to report.

Apparently @Jack's password was @password. Trump's Twitter has joined Greta's as hacked by "Turks."

Jack,
I don't know what to tell you about that press briefing with the White House doctor, except it revealed 90% of the White House press for the leftist fanatics that they are.
When I heard questions about dentures, I knew they were looking for a way to mock the President.
When I heard the question about whether the President has a drug addiction, I knew they were looking for a 25th amendment excuse.
When I saw Dr. Sanjay Gupta there from CNN, I knew they had hoped to compromise the White house physician.
There is no doubt in my mind that 90% of those reporters are enemies to this country. None whatsoever.

What I like about Broadway Danny Rose is the scenes with the washed up performers and the talkfest at Carnegie’s Deli I believe.
Has that establishment closed? And is Elaine’s still around.
Jimmyk or JIB, have you ever eaten steaks at Peter Lugers?

No concern by the MFM about Nanzi Palsi's mental competence? She sounds completely out of while mumbling half sentences that just trail off without making sense. Where's the objective need to find out how lucid she is that's applied to DJT?

mm, You are right. Sessions has woken maybe.

I hope OL is safe in the OZ region.

Is this what jouralism is supposed to look like to the masses?
No, it’s not journalism. It’s like Hollywood. The closer you get to the gravitational waves of power, the more warped it becomes. The more it is co-opted by the venal. The fourth estate is the same as any agency, subject to regulatory capture.
Credentials are no guarantee one can think, any more than a degree in public administration guarantees one can govern or a degree in education guarantees one can teach.
Credentials are little more than the modern equivalent of medieval guilds. Guilds restricted entry into crafts, allowing in only select and approved members. They constructed a protected and privileged circumstance for their own benefit, professing always to hold themselves to high standards for the benefit of consumers.
The craft of journalists often wrap themselves in claims of privilege. They see their job classification as raiment and title to make judgments about what the rest of us should believe. The credentialed were considered professional because the credentialed vouched for them.
If anything, the concentration of media power has accentuated inbreeding and conformist views. That is regulatory capture by a different path.
National media does not know how to get better. Or it may not care that it should. Meanwhile, those who consume journalism face a different problem.
Consumers are not lazy, but they are busy. Recent generations were schooled to put trust in experts. They defer to credentialed and/or experienced experts in government, politics, education, science and elsewhere. “Expert” became perverted to mean someone with credentials and/or experience.
Journalism isn’t the problem. The people who fall for it are. ... And that leads back to the federalization of schools.

Man, you people are prodigious. To pick and choose since last night, re liver--once a week as a child, liver came my way, putatively because my father liked it. Ten years ago, I learn that my father can take or leave liver but that my mother (meal-provider) really liked it. So much torment, so many wadded bits in the napkin fed to Willie the schnauzer. The culprit (my mother) is now 83, and thus theoretically beyond reproach. I still hold a grudge.
Re the genius of artists (hmmph), Shelley (P. B.) is on record as saying that "poetry is the unacknowledged legislation of the world." Some wag finished that by saying "by unacknowledged legislators."
I thought the Schicklewhatever (to parallel Raji whats-his-name of today) painting was lovely--light and color and form all very harmoniously balanced. It's such a shame that bad people do good art, but there's no way round it (cf. Shelley, Picasso, long long list).
