Trump's political weakness? Perhaps it was a measure of the insanity of the opposition

A measure of the progressive / NeverTrump mental weakness.

The embedded video is hilarious:

Jack,

I left you some links at the very end of the last thread concerning your friend's son.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Looks like McCarthy recruited her. Anyone in California know anything about her?

Captain Hate

Tammy is talking about dear sweet Huma calling off the divorce. Anybody considering MB Huma anything less than a co conspirator is an idiot.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Captain Hate,

Now another story is saying that it isin't called off, but is being settled out of court.

I wonder which is true.

 narcisoyea

Henry, as I think you know, I know Francis Schmitz.
He also is a member of my Parish.
To say Schmitz is a kook, would be an under statement. He has never held back his hate for Governor Walker in conversation. I haven't seen him, since the GOOD SHIP LIBTARD started taking on water.

henry

Gus, it appears he is the sap left holding the bag for Schimmel.

Jane

There was not one second in that televised meeting yesterday where Trump looked like a "traditional president" at least IMO.

What did people who watched it think about the earmark discussion?

Threadkiller

Harkey has always been aces with the Howard Jarvis taxpayers association. That is a real good sign.

Jane

The point of calling off the divorce is so Weiner can not be required to testify against Huma.

Threadkiller

Great video, CH!

GUS

Jane, if Trump is NUTZ, then 75% of those at his table are CUCKOO FOR COCOA PUFFS.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Jane,

I didn't want a traditional president, because that would mean things would go on as before.

As far as earmarks, I need to see more about his thinking on this. I am just not sure.

henry

Earmarks? Trump basically told them they were too corrupt to act in the national interest, so maybe bribing each other is the way to go. I like the way he snuck in "more controls this time." That short circuits the backdoor attempts by Ryan to return to the bad old days of earmarks (which he was doing behind closed doors).

Jane

What caught me about the conversation about earmarks is that Trump pointed out, since they banned earmarks the parties have never ever been willing to compromise on anything. And he suggested that they bring them back so they can get some stuff done.

I thought that was fascinating because it has never once crossed my mind that was a/the problem. I'd love to know the thinking behind it.

matt - deplore me if you must

I know Diane. She has been another fixture in OC politics for years. Not especially stellar. More of another OC apparatchik. I think she's on the Franchise Tax Board, which is a semi do-nothing position.

Did somebody already link this?

Sundance wonders if there ever actually was a FISA warrant to tap trump?

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/01/10/a-political-battle-over-dossiers-fisa-warrants-and-surveillance-clouds-a-much-bigger-story/

Whoever writes my second book, whether the Ghost of Mario Puzo, or the Ghost of Allan Drury, they had best hire Sundance for the background material.

 narcisoyea

Meaning her family ties and even her own employment by nasseefs journal.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

http://thefederalist.com/2018/01/09/coming-republican-democrat-family-went-worse-coming-gay/

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Old Lurker,

Doesn't that mean that is they didn't take the dossier to the FISA court to get a warrant, then there was no warrant at all?

Or does it mean they used something else? What else could it have been?

Old Lurker

Jane I thought the spousal privilege survives a divorce as to things said while they were married.

Have I watched too much TV?

henry

They floated a spy in Trump's campaign. The Popadopolous imbecile that used to work for Hillary, and hung out with the Cypriot professor and Russian guy that worked for Fusion GPS.

Old Lurker

That is exactly what Sundance is positing, MM.

Read that link, this is a good one.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Old Lurker,

I read it earlier but wasn't totally getting the significance.

So without a warrant, it was SUPER illegal, right?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Oh, gosh, now Fox has Jonah Goldberg. This is a sign I need to go get the Christmas stuff put in the garage.

Old Lurker

Sure seems like it would be, MM. Then they were letting the political folks read it all too.

Once more, they did all this certain that Hillary would win. I am increasingly surprised Trump lived to get elected if they really wanted an insurance policy.

Jane

Not that I know of OL, but not my kind of law, so let a smart person answer.

Jane

I'd be shocked if there wasn't a FISA warrant. Of course "being shocked" has become a way of life around these issues.

glenda

Jane's 1:52 on Huma/cannot be forced to testify, etc..is spot on.

Also, it's why questionable federal employees like Ohr, Page, Strozk are demoted, not fired...to sustain their benefits..they must co-operate with interagency investigations.
Andy Mc Cabe can't just ride, and retire.
Unless, they quit and relinquish their rights...after Soros pays their passage on a slow boat to China!!

My idea to organize against amnesty shills is , as usual, at the end of the last thread! Now, we need to lobby for legislation for term limits and benefit denials for all federal, state employees that usurp laws or violate oath of office--they forfeit tax-payer subsistence, immediately.

Accountability Now ! Install cameras in every upper management office..require recordings with every lobbyist, foreign or domestic.
Oh, no...they do that already, amirite? Obama? Brennan? Bueller? Lauer?
😂

Clarice Feldman

Sundance is really giving me a headache,I think there was a warrant--he's just building off the fact, everyone seems determined not to let us know that the dossier was the basis.

Clarice Feldman

If there wasn't a warrant why was Judge Contreras recused? C'mon sundance is just gettint too cute for words.

Old Lurker

Jane: "Of course "being shocked" has become a way of life"

For me I end it right these.

BTW a little googling suggests that some spousal privilege does survive a divorce in some states and with some exceptions so I think the idea of staying married just in case makes sense for both of them.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

The use of spouses and/or girlfriends as conduits for information and payoffs has got to be looked at. I am sure this goes on in GOP circles as well.

This is one of the problems women entering the professional workforce has caused, although unintentionally.

There needs to be a look at these business/government relationships. Years ago, when I married my mining engineer husband, I couldn't continute to work for the company and I couldn't work for the state; the former due to a nepotism clause and the latter due to conflict of interest.

I stayed home and raised my kids and then went into office work and substitute teaching. I guess no equal rights allow these situations to exist, but as we can see it's a handy way to launder a bribe.

narciso

did you ever have a case, clarice, where a fisa warrant had to be produced?

henry

The use of spouses and/or girlfriends as conduits for information and payoffs has got to be looked at

Just look at the Obama White House and the MSM. Near 1-1 correspondence.

Old Lurker

Clarice, I think the safe thing is for me to just wait for Sunday morning to read the truth that's fit to print so that you have to do all the sorting.

:-)

Extraneus
We are no longer taking it for granted a FISA warrant was ever given to the DOJ because NO-ONE can prove a FISA warrant exists. Heck, no-one can even point to anything that directly claims a FISA warrant was even requested. There are inferences, suspicions, media reports based on anonymous leaks, but no direct or reasonable evidence beyond innuendo. We are eighteen months past the reported origination dates, and there’s not a single official who will state a 2016 FISA warrant was applied for or granted. Therefore we must begin to question that basic assumption.

Gee.

henry

All that and Sessions sleeps on.

DebinGA

Sundance makes my head spin, so I can't vouch for my takeaways. One of those is that Adm Rogers came in as NSA Dir. and was alarmed at rampart misuse of Section 702 "about queries" to collect any and all communications (cell/email/other) of any target, including Team Trump. Rogers ordered an audit, but before the audit was completed an alerted BOzo NSD Dir John Carlin filed a mea culpa with the court admitting the agency had spied on Americans illegally since 2010 - then Carlin immediately resigned. If that's true, no need for FISAs as the private info was illegally coming in the back door.

The MT theater has been back in session for the last few days due to Ms Ivory getting her annual SAG data drop. So we watched Darkest Hour a couple days ago and then I hit the comments under Wretchard's latest post and Walt Erickson gets top comment with this:

I don’t know what the future holds in detail, but I know that all futures, and therefore all histories, are determined by the actions of the indispensable man. In the Spring of 1940, as the German panzers raced across France, driving the 300,000 men of the British Expeditionary Force onto the beaches at Dunkirk, one man changed the course of history. Led by Foreign Minister Lord Halifax and Lord Beaverbrook, owner of Britain’s most influential newspapers, the British elites urged Prime Minister Churchill to come to terms with Hitler. Had Churchill done so, the history of the world would have been quite different. We do not know what the terms of surrender would have been, but would very likely have included placing Egypt and the Suez Canal in German hands, giving access to Asia and Axis partner Japan, as well as giving Hitler complete control of the Mediterranean with access to Middle Eastern oil and a southern route into the Soviet Union. The Russian campaign would have been different, with a German victory a likely ending. The French fleet would have fallen into German hands, though the Royal Navy might very well have fled to Canada. There would have been no World War 2 as we know it, and it is fair to ask if Japan, probably the recipient in the peace treaty of British and French possessions in the Pacific, would have felt the necessity of attacking Pearl Harbor. In short, if Churchill had accepted the advice of every influential Englishman, our world would today be completely different. But Churchill did not accept that advice, and rallied the English people to fight, and to prevail.

Today, under completely different conditions than faced Churchill, there has arisen another indispensable man. Donald Trump, a billionaire businessman, has, like Cincinnatus, laid down his plow and saved the nation. The Democratic Party of today is not the Democratic Party of yesteryear, when its ruling Southern elites were more conservative than Eastern Republicans. That Democratic Party was swept away by the pro-communist radical left wing of the party after the presidential election of 1968, becoming more leftist as the years passed, culminating with the election of Barack Obama, the first anti-American president of the United States, leaving, or so he thought, the country in the hands of his successor, Hillary Clinton, to continue the destruction of the American Republic, as well as the destruction of the white middle class and its replacement with third world Mexicans and South Americans who would guarantee a permanent radical socialist governing party that would turn the country into another Cuba or Venezuela. But Trump, like Churchill, now stands athwart history, and the future will record that Donald Trump, singlehandedly, saved the American Republic from destruction at the hands of a radical leftist Democratic Party that hates America, its founding principles, and its white population.

I would have never appreciated Walt's comments about Churchill without having just seen that whole thing played out on screen.

Building on what Deb said at 3:03, the twitter sphere I follow are making a big deal out of the Rogers meeting with President elect Donald Trump around November 17, 2016.

After that meeting the entire Trump crew left Trump Towers in NY and went to his NJ club implying the Towers were not secure.

EILAT, Israel — The founders of the controversial opposition research firm Fusion GPS admitted that they helped the researcher hired to compile the infamous, largely discredited 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump to share the document with Sen. John McCain.

The goal of providing the dossier to McCain, the Fusion GPS founders explained, was to pass the information contained in the questionable document to the U.S. intelligence community under the Obama administration.

The disclosure raises questions about whether McCain knew that the information he delivered to the intelligence community was actually an opposition document reportedly funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Last December, it was revealed that it was McCain who notoriously passed the controversial dossier documents produced by the Washington opposition research firm Fusion GPS to then FBI Director James Comey, whose agency reportedly utilized the dossier as a basis for its probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

https://www.weaselzippers.us/370702-fusion-gps-admits-they-used-john-mccain-to-pass-anti-trump-dossier-to-obama-era-intelligence-agencies/

I agree but when I was a young engineer working my first field construction assignment in a Maryland power plant (CH knows where it is next to the 301 bridge to VA) the laborers General Foreman wore our mandated (Hugest Construction Company in the World) hard hat with his Orange stripes (to designate he was a laborer) and instead of his name on an emossed strip had HNIC on it.

A description of the "DACA" bill Goodlatte talked about that Trump said to start with in the meeting.

It would not offer the young illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship.

Floyd Mayweather’s Thoughts On The #MeToo Movement

We’re asking a lot of men, in light of the #MeToo movement, how men can grow in 2018 (Interviewer).

The who?

The #MeToo movement. Women speaking out about sexual assault.

When you say “me too” … When somebody is like, “I got a Rolls Royce, I be like ‘me too.'” When somebody say they got a private jet, I say, “Me too. I got two. Me too.”

This is a very different —

Well, I didn’t know! My Me Too movement from the beginning was whenever somebody said what they have I’m like, “me too.” Somebody say they got a billion dollars, I say, “I made a billion dollars, me too.”

Trump at the presser on meeting with Mueller: My transcript:

Reporter John Roberts ...Sarah brought up the Russia Investigation...Your legal team believes in a few weeks Mueller will ask for an interview with you...Are you open to meeting with him? Would you bewailing to met with him without condition, or would you demand that a strict set of parameters be placed around any encounter between you and the Special Counsel.

Trump: Well again John, there has been no collusion between The Trump Campaign and Russians or Trump and Russians. No Collusion. When I watch you interviewing all the people leaving their committees, I mean the Democrats are all running for office and they are trying to say this and that but bottom line is they all say there is no collusion. And there is no collusion. When you talk about interviews, Hillary Clinton had an interview, where she wasn't sworn in, she wasn't given the Oath, they didn't take notes, they didn't record it, and it was done on the Fourth of July weekend. That's perhaps ridiculous. And a lot of people look upon that as being a very serious breach, and it really was. But again, and I'll speak to Attorneys. I can only say this, there was absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it. Every Committee. I've been in Office now for 11 months. For 11 months they've had this phony cloud over our Administration, over our Government. And it has hurt our Government. It has hurt our Government. It's a Democrat hoax. It was brought up as an excuse for losing an Election that frankly the Democrats shud have won because they have such a tremendous advantage in the Electoral College. It was brought up for that reason. But it has been determined that there is no collusion by virtually everybody. We'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I mean certainly I'll see what happens but when they have no collusion, and nobody's found any collusion, at any level, it seems unlikely that you'd even have an interview.

Jim Eagle

MM,

McCain was a conduit, albeit willingly. Fusion didn't want Hillary's fingerprints all over the dossier, and so her good friend Johnny Mac did the deed. If he was ever caught with the file and hadn't turned it over he would have been double special denounced by every foghorn on the Left. I guess you could call it a Weiner-Weiner solution.

Let's discuss how the unmasking fits in with the FBI's byzantine backstabbing. If you trace all of the players; Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Powers, Rice, Page, Brennan et al, there is no way in hell all of this was going on without some orchestration and the knowledge of the president.

Obama specialized in dirty tricks in Chicago. Alinskiiy was his god and Ayers was his prophet. Look at his hostory of EO's and regulatory overreach. This guy knew exactly what he was doing and would do so by any means necessary.

How quickly I fall behind. On this:

Trump pointed out, since they banned earmarks the parties have never ever been willing to compromise on anything.

I don't necessarily mind compromise among Republicans (as with the tax plan), but compromising with Dems never seems to work out, or it works like this: Dems want to spend 150, Repubs want to spend 100, so they "compromise" on 175 (once all the earmarks are thrown in).

daddy

I'm doing catch-up, but are you guys saying that if you were their attorney's you'd be advising Strzok and Page to immediately divorce their spouses and marry each other?
