From the Washington Times:
Shock poll: Americans want massive cuts to legal immigration
Cutting chain migration even more popular than legalizing Dreamers
A "shock" poll? Geez, clues included the utter collapse of the mainstream Republican candidates in 2016 and the eventual election of Donald Trump.
A government shutdown is in the rearview mirror, but the outlines of a looming immigration deal remain murky with the sides still far apart — though the latest polling suggests President Trump’s bargaining position may be strong.
A Harvard-Harris poll taken in the run-up to the shutdown found Americans strongly support granting citizenship rights to illegal immigrant Dreamers. But they also back Mr. Trump’s three demands for a border wall, limits to the chain of family migration and an end to the Diversity Visa Lottery.
Most striking of all is the public’s demand for lower overall legal immigration — a position that has little traction on Capitol Hill but one that is overwhelmingly popular across the country.
The poll found that most Americans want annual legal immigration capped at 500,000 a year or less — far lower than the current annual rate of 1.3 million.
That is at page 68 of the .pdf. Bring your reading glasses.
Bringing this over from a dying thread...On F&F this morning, they had a graph up of how much time was spent by ABC, NBC and CBS on the 50,000 missing texts. Zero. Zilch. Nada. None of the major 3 networks mentioned the missing texts.

I personally think enough people were aware that our military was not getting paid because of Dreamers.
Someone pointed out earlier somewhere, I forget where, that illegals are Dreamers and I, others like me, or Deplorables. Odd times we live in.
Posted by: Sue | January 23, 2018 at 10:29 AM
I do not support granting citizenship to Dreamers. A green card with the ability to apply for citizenship but not amnesty.

You're deplorable because you're privileged, Sue.
Here's the thing I don't get, but I'm pretty sure progs will be taking it up pretty soon, if not already;
who is more privileged than smart people?
A smart black guy has about 1,000 times better chance of making it than some white imbecile, unless the white imbecile becomes a journalist or politician.
Isn't it time morons of the world unite? They have nothing to lose but their brains, and that's no great loss anyway.

I just don't see the long term viability of Netflix's business model. As more studios do their own Netflix thing and withhold content from Netflix, it can't keep paying $100 million for its own content based on subscriber fees.

Netflix brings in more than $600,000 million a MONTH in subscriber fees and is no longer seen as a repository of second run shows from other sources... Producing dozens of movies annually, and even more original series. Waaaaay ahead of the curve.

I heard Gowdy talking on Fox about half an hour ago, and he was frothing at themouth about texts from the lovebirds which not only talked about the "secret society", but displayed animosity towards the Trump CHILDREN and went on to hope for the failure of his businesses.
That, to me, indicates fanatical politicization and people should be fired and put into custody.
My suggestion is to form a completely new federal investigative bureau, taking the best from the FBI and discarding the rest. Keep the lab technicians and people like that, but all agents need a complete and thorough background check including known associates, finances, and computer/phone records. First year hires are on probation.
I am just gobsmacked at this.

I am unfamiliar with this site, but the guy seems to have done a good job of piecing together pieces of information from Politico, the Daily Caller, etc.
This paragraph stood out for me:
"Evidence is mounting that Awan was one spoke in the wheel of Hezbollah’s massive terror network. If indeed this is the case, it raises serious questions about how Awan was able to participate in felony money-laundering and bank fraud right under the noses of congressional democrats, who paid him more than $7 million for IT services. FBI investigators are currently trying to figure out how this happened, and how counter-intelligence agents didn’t discover it sooner."
Maybe those "counter-intelligence agents" were too busy texting each other about how much they hated Trump and his family.

Shock poll: Americans want massive cuts to legal immigration
Well remember TM, we used to think the poll question "Is the Pope Catholic?" wasn't a Shock Poll, but it is nowadays. Thankfully though we can still count on bears to shit in the woods, except in King Cove Alaska, where, because of Trump and the planet destroying Ryan Zinke, they will now shit on an environmentally dangerous, Eco-Killing, Gaia murdering, 12 mile stretch of gravel roads.

From the Columbia Journalism Review piece:
Gee, silly me. I thought the job of journalists was to get the who, what, when, where and how correct, and then and only then, to venture modestly into the why (but not letting their views on the why affect the who what when where and how reporting). I didn't think journalists should view their task as deciding how readers should spend their time.

Just watched 2 Gendarmes on horseback cross the bridge just in front of the Cathedral and my restaurant. As they passed I noticed both gendarmes were women and both had holstered sidearms. Cool. A night turning gorgeous in this City of Light's, and none more wonderful than the lighting on the Cathedral itself as the twilight continues.
As mentioned many times previously, where I sit on the Left Bank, just 200 yards from the Cathedral, is also within 300 yards of central Police Headquarters, and so far today/tonight have only heard two occassions of the sirens blaring and the police vehicles hustling thru the streetlights with sirens blaring. The Police presence tonight is very reduced and invisible from normal touristy times, so maybe terrorists don't like lousy weather.
