Miss Marple the Deplorable

Old Lurker,

Are you surprised? I am not. More and more I think the Brits were active conspirators in this whole dossier thing.

James D.

Ext @ 10:44

All I needed to see was the author's name. No point reading further than that.

Captain Hate

That picture of Mooch looks like she told the person she paid to do it that the check would bounce unless he made her look much thinner than she is. Although she isn't nearly as gorgeous as the MFM propagandized she isn't unattractive on the rare moment when she's pleasant.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Seeeriously, I am way underwhelmed by those portraits.

Michelle's doeson't look like her plus it is pale and colorless, with no background.

Obama's seated in the middle of a bush, which has the same leaves on every branch but a variety of flowers attached to it. Also, his hands look too large and he has that prissy look on his face.

Well, as far as I am concerned, bad paintings both.

That Cock Curious portrait should be done on velvet. What horrendous taste; I can't wait to see the art mavens in the MFM contort themselves to praise such a pedestrian piece of trash.

daddy - those photos are lovely! Glad you happened upon it - like a surcie gift this morning!

I checked an online site for that book and was unable to find it. It must be very rare, indeed!

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Mark Knoller shows us the portraits of both Bushes, Reagan, and Clinton. Having seen the Obama portraits and now Clinton's, I can only conclude that Republicans know how to pick better artists:

Old Lurker

Me too, MM.

Up to their eyeballs.

Captain Hate

I'll say one positive thing about the Zippy portrait: it captures his inner ugliness.

Captain Hate

Slick's nose looks more bulbous than how it appears on tv.

Message -- divisions on issues aren't as drastic as you (or Resistance people) might think.

Close up of Pres Obama's portrait. Artist says the foliage background represents his ties to Chicago, Hawaii and Kenya.

What foliage is there in Chicago that looks like that? It reminds me of kudzu in Georgia which grows like wildfire and can consume entire buildings.

Captain Hate | February 12, 2018 at 11:20 AM
Put some ice on that, my little chickadee.

Captain Hate

What do you expect from the young royals? Their father was the Brit version of the JEF and this was their whore mother:

Diana was not a particularly bright student. She was educated at home till the age of 9, went to boarding school Riddlesworth Hall in Norfolk (age 9-12), and to the exclusive West Health Girls' School in Kent (age 12-16), where she was regarded as a poor student. She failed all of her O-levels twice and later dropped out at the age of 16. She would pack her bags and try Institut Alpin Videmanette, a finishing school in Switzerland, but also quit after a term. It was about this time when she first met Prince Charles, who was at that time dating her eldest sister, Lady Sarah.

That gold digging dumbass turned a large portion of the world into maudlin weepers.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Why does that bush behind Obama have all sorts of different flowers on it? I cannot stand things which make no sense, and that leaped out at me due to my gardening experience. Bushes do not have random different flowers on them.

Janet 🚬 - I wish my family had a poncho

"Apparently sloppy, propagandistic journalism is A-OK and totally real if its against Trump!

Motherfuckers, the Conservative Twitter Intelligentsia has a better track record than the Washington Post at this point!"

Miss Marple the Deplorable

My daughter admired Princess Diana tremendously. Of course, she was in grade school when they married so she was all entranced with the wedding.

She even had a Princess Diana doll, from the Franklin mint. Alas, it went in a garage sale the year before Diana was killed. I sure wish we still had it - I think it is worth big bucks on eBay now!

Just checked: $245!!

Miss M, one flower for each level on his birth certificate?

Clarice Feldman

MM, I think the background must have been one of Michelle's tasteful frocks.

They must be symbolic, MM. The many hues of Obama's vast contributions to society.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Well, of the two, Michelle's is the least like her in appearance, while Obama's is the most puzzling.

I hope these artists aren't doing the White House portraits as well.

Who chooses the White House portrait artists? Anyone know?

PS. I should say - assisted suicides by gun wielding hoodlums up by 100%

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I look forward to the art critics bending over backwards to praise these awful paintings because the artists and subjects are black. It should be quite amusing.

Who actually colluded with the Russians?

matt - deplore me if you must

Mao's wife was Jiang Qing, one of the Gang of Four (not the band). Nasty piece of work.

The Barack painting was done by a trendy African American artist who has an almost Renaissance portrayal of the individual and then throws in the hobo stuff as background. I'm going to say that both portraits will go into storage or be mocked by later generations if they do continue to hang them. It's like having Jeff Koons or Murakami do a portrait. Quatsch.

Evergreen College Will Replace Day When It Asks White Students To Leave Campus

The Washington state college formed a committee to deliberate on what kind of programming will replace its annual “Day of Absence,” which former Evergreen professor Bret Weinstein protested in 2017 to nationwide media coverage, reported The College Fix.

The college wants students, faculty, and staff to assist in the creation of a “new equity symposium,” according to an email from Evergreen president George Bridges that was obtained by The Fix. Chassity Holliman-Douglas, which the school hired as its first vice president for equity and inclusion a month after the campus protests, will spearhead the new initiative.

“I have asked [Holliman-Douglas] to convene and chair a planning group comprised of students, faculty, and staff to shape its content and structure such that all members of our campus community are invited to engage in dialogue and discussion with one another and the speakers we invite to campus,” said Bridges in his email. “It is my sincere hope that this event reinforces our commitment to addressing these critical issues facing the college and society.”

Weinstein and his wife, Heather Heying, received a $500,000 settlement after suing Evergreen for discrimination following the protests.

I didn't follow the Porter thing because I knew he'd be lynched regardless of whether he was guilty or innocent, but...

Twisted: Trump says Porter sick, guilty; defends him publicly

President Trump is defending Rob Porter even though, privately, he says he’s guilty.

Behind closed doors: The president has told multiple people that he believes the accusations about Porter, and finds him “sick.”

Four sources who have spoken directly with Trump tell me his private comments about ex-aide Porter — whose two ex-wives accused of violent attacks — have been brutal.

But his public comments don’t reflect that, at all.

  • This is the strongest indicator yet that Trump will reflexively defend his male allies from any and all accusations, even when he thinks those accusations are true.

  • Trump tells friends that he deplores the #MeToo movement and believes it unfairly exposes CEOs to lawsuits from their female employees. The fact that women frequently face sexual predation in the workplace doesn’t impact his view on this.

That is just blind stupidity. Why would it impact his view on due process? What don't people understand about the concept of innocent until proven guilty? Our entire legal system has been based on it for centuries.

I believe he's probably guilty, too. That doesn't make him actually guilty.

With the extermination of free speech, the protections against illegal search and seizure, and now due process, we're losing the society that was rooted in the constitution and the rule of law. And it's happening very quickly.

David, Deplorable Internet Russian Dreamer Bot

JamesD, there is probably only one or two colleges in the country WITHOUT one of those. I think even Brigham Young University has instituted a diversity program.

Yeah, I guess it's possible that Jonathan Swan has dozens of WH leakers, but from his piece he seems too dumb to have cultivated any.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Marie Harf on Fox saying that President Trump always defaults to believing the men, and brings up Roy Moore.

Amazingly, I saw a reporter early this morning pushing the exact same line.

I still want to know why, if one of the wives went to the FBI, the FBI didn't call the White House immediately and alert them.

Secondly, why did it take until October or November to alert Kelly.

And three, what was in the report. Did it say there were separate accounts with a photo, or was it a bland "problems with the marriage" statement?

The only official document I've seen is the restraining order from 2010, heck why need you evidence if Hes a warlock.

Yeah, here's how the twerp Jonathan Swan ended his piece:

Trump has also told associates that he views men who beat their wives the same way he views child molesters: as “sick puppies.” (This sits uncomfortably beside the fact that Trump stood by accused child molester Roy Moore.)

Accused child molesters are child molesters.

Act III of course.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

This should cheer you guys up:

Were in Napoleonic law, now tk guilty until proven innocent

Restraining orders are not findings or evidence of guilt. Judges sign them like they're giving out their autographs. Most times the recipient isn't even aware of it until he's served with it and finds out he's not allowed to see his kids or go back to his own house.

If Porter wasn't convicted of assault and battery, he's innocent until proven guilty. I'd defend him, too, if I were Trump. He's simply defending a constitutional right.

Why wasn't he tried for these alleged crimes, btw? Anyone know?

Your deadpan logic is trademarked, no? If not it should be.

Let's wait and see how much of that CR they just passed actually gets spent. I am thinking Clarice is right, they don't HAVE to spend it. The cabinet officers can just spend at lower levels and ignore the increases.

Hospitalized as a precaution.

Hahahah! Thanks Ext. LOL! I over thought what you were writing.

Thomas Collins

Appalled, one area in which the division is dramatic is with respect to hate speech. In the Atlantic article you linked it is stated that:

"So why don’t people who want to shift the equilibrium away from political correctness try to broaden their coalition by simultaneously agreeing to ban “hate speech”? In this case, as in others, the “equilibrium majority” is reluctant to make concessions to the “limit majority” because they are concerned about slippery slopes. A refusal to concede limits can be necessary if one means to defend the merits of an absolutist position (like “torture should always be illegal”) or when one believes that an absolutist position allows bad behavior, but that anything short of it guarantees a slide to an inferior outcome, like lots of speech being suppressed."

Supporting a hate speech exception to the First Amendment is not a compromise, it is a surrender. The idea behind preventing governments from suppressing speech is that governments will invariably use reasonable sounding exceptions to stifle political views inconvenient to the government. We see this happening now on college campuses, where certain good faith political views (such as that what affirmative action has morphed into, identity quotas, hurts all groups) are in danger of being banned as hate speech.

As far as abortion goes, keep in mind that SCOTUS in Roe, Doe and Casey has acted as a super-legislatures (in their more honest moments, abortion supporters such as Tribe and Justice Ginsberg have recognized this). Perhaps a good place to start the compromise process would be to urge judges to act like judges, not philosopher kings and queens.

I believe:
a) the author made this up, or
b) Trump is seeding people with different stories to uncover leakers.

Trump is not likely to blab such things.

Andrea Mitchell On Infrastructure: But 'What About' Rob Porter?

So the positive side of this is that the President's finally unrolling the infrastructure plan. The negative side is, to be perfectly blunt, this comes after days of controversy over Rob Porter, over a second, quote, 'resignation' or firing from the White House, controversies over the lack of security clearances for Rob Porter, and the President fueling this issue by tweeting and commenting his support for the men rather than the women who claim that they were victims.

At least she doesn't go all the way to simply calling them victims, like most of her kind normally do.

Dave (in MA)

Swiped from the Twitter,

I will take your point on hate speech. It's not a concept recognized by the drafters of the 1st Amendment, who lived in an age when plenty of speech was hateful.

But I think politics becomes less of an unending primal scream, and actually something effective when you look for similarities and points of agreement, and act on that. The tribal thing that politics has become over the last 10 years creates a corrupt politics, and a by any means necessary politics that looks more like South American "republics" than anything that's stable or sustainable.

Gee, have we ever heard about this?

Married senior policy advisor to President Obama pleaded guilty to sex crimes for taking pictures up women's skirts on the DC Metro and resigned before the government could fire him

William Mendoza, 42, the former executive director of the White House Initiative on American Indian and Alaska Native Education, stepped down after he was arrested and charged with attempted voyeurism in November, 2016, for the vile acts.

Mendoza, who earned $140,000 a year as a policy advisor in Obama's White House, tried to take photos and videos up women's skirts at least four times on his government-issued iPhones in July 2016 without their consent.

He was also caught looking at footage, apparently filmed in secret, of a woman in her underwear getting changed in a dressing room. It is not known if he recorded the video himself.

When he took the indecent photos, he was supposed to be at work and was using a travel card funded by the taxpayer, according to documents obtained by DailyMail.com through a Freedom of Information Act request.

He was caught on surveillance camera trying to take the indecent picture during an investigation by the Metro Police Transit Department (WMATA), arrested and charged with one count of attempted voyeurism, a misdemeanor.

Mendoza resigned just before the Department of Education could launch their own investigation into his sexual misconduct.

He pleaded guilty to the charges in January 2017, was given suspended 90-day prison sentence, one year’s probation and was fined $100. He has not worked in public office since stepping down.

And, of course, it doesn't even come from a US news source.

Dave in MA:
That picture is hilarious!
I wonder if the Obamas know America is laughing at them for choosing such an obviously bad artist to portray them.

Paul Y. Kiyonaga, Mendoza’s lawyer, told DailyMail.com that Mendoza received treatment after his conviction and is now trying to move on with his life away from public office.

He said: ‘Mr. Mendoza has taken responsibility for this charge of attempted voyeurism.

‘He’s received treatment for the underlying issues that gave rise to this incident, and, with the strong support of his family, is moving forward productively with his life.’

Any theories as to what type of treatment cures an upskirt fetish?

“The diversity bureaucracy has finally swallowed an entire college”

San Diego State University has just named to its presidency a vice chancellor of student affairs and campus diversity, hired from the University of California, Davis. The new SDSU president, Adela de la Torre, is a peerless example of the intersection of identity politics and the ballooning student-services bureaucracy.

As vice chancellor of student affairs and campus diversity at UC Davis, de la Torre presided over a division made up of a whopping 28 departments—not academic departments, but bureaucratic and identity-based ones, such as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual Resource Center; the Center for African Diaspora Student Success; the Center for Chicanx and Latinx Student Success; the Native American Academic Student Success Center; the Middle Eastern/South Asian Student Affairs Office; the Women’s Resources and Research Center; the Undocumented Student Center; Retention Initiatives; the Office of Educational Opportunity and Enrichment Services; and the Center for First-Generation Student Scholars.
