Andrew Ross Sorkin of the Flailing NY Times doesn't think this whole democracy experiment is working on gun control so he would like to put the Wall Street banks in charge.
Wow. Exhorting corporate America to cater to the whims of one party might seem like a good idea in the moment but I am pretty sure there are Republican ideas and companies willing to support them with which Sorkin would be uncomfortable.
As to banks specifically, it is true that the big banks are headquartered in blue coastal enclaves. The friends and neighbors of the top execs could shun them at cocktail parties and refuse to have their kids over on play dates until the big banks "got woke". But there are plenty of small banks and small customers in the nation at large that will probably get balky with this Blue State cramdown and display of Wall Street muscle. Just a guess.

From the prior thread, re: a survey of political scientists about Presidents:
In their last survey in 2014, Obama was rated 18th, meaning he moved up 10 spots in four years. Trump took the bottom spot once occupied by James Buchanan, the president before Abraham Lincoln as the country neared the Civil War.
If there was a better argument for never, ever taking political scientists - or political science - seriously ever again; and for cutting off every penny of Federal money to poli-sci programs (and students), I can't imagine what it would be.

Banks are all captured by regulators in DC/NY. No local banks will go against that. We know this because the Obama admin already cracked down on gun shops. Besides, it's VisaNet that controls retail sales (or not) of damn near anything. VisaNet isn't out in the sticks... it has allied with CFPB for joint abuse of consumers and the elimination of cash.

Van Der Zwaan tied to McCain as his conduit to Russia?
According to two former senior US diplomats who served in the Balkans, Davis and his lobbying firm, Davis Manafort, received several million dollars to help run Montenegroās independence referendum campaign of 2006. The terms of the agreement were never disclosed to the public, but top Montenegrin officials told the US diplomats that Davisās work was underwritten by powerful Russian business interests connected to the Kremlin and operating in Montenegro.
That bit ties McCain, Manafort & Russia together via McCains campaign manager Davis.

Rush had a segment a few months back in which he was explaining the difference between Billionaires, Centimillionaires, regular millionaires vs other people.
His point to which I subscribe 110% is that among his friends, even people worth $300-400 million, they all secretly worried that the government could take it all away from them. He noted that that fear seemed just as strong with simple millionaires all the way up to centimillionaires. Among his friends, only real Billionaires seemed to think they were rich enough to fight off even the government.
That is the reality we have created.

You raise an interesting issue that many deride. China was never part of the end of the Cold War as such. The Chinese have spies and fellow travelers in place in the USA and have and probably continue to conduct industrial, economic and political espionage, in the USA and around the world.
China has used its economy to rebuild its interests around the world including the areas surrounding the Silk Roads.
I find it hard to believe that China is not using its technological resources to increase the enmity between the US and Russia.

The slight problem he has to overcome is when you indict people for lying about legal activities or about bank shenanigans they themselves undertook, there are no bigger fish to fry and no one to turn on.
Rather than frying big fish Mueller at this point is in the phase where he snags as many small fry scalps as he can to justify not getting canned and laughed out of town.

Hate to be a contrarian about Peter Wang getting the posthumously appointed to West Point but even if his heroics deserved it what is the point? He doesn't know he was awarded an appointment. It is more "feel good" social conscious bull shit that the left leaning military academies have become.
Why not give him the Medal of Honor while we are at it?

I probably shouldn't even post this. Wang deserves recognition but this taking it too far. How about the JROTC Captain who herded his class back into the classroom and protected them with Kevlar sheets? Why not give him an appointment. At least he is still alive to appreciate it.

Why did Trump organisation change the Republican platform prior to the election essentially giving the Russians cart blanche in the Ukraine?
Why did so many Trump advisers meet with Russian government officials and then lie about their meetings?
Why won't Trump do anything about the reports that Russia intends to meddle in our up and coming elections? Nothing
Why won't Trump criticize Vladmir Putin like he criticizes his own American law enforcement and American intelligence agencies?
Why won't Trump enforce the sanctions against Russia or attacking us?

Does the MSM actually think that the public is genuinely alarmed about a few Russian bots trolling on Facebook and Twitter? Yesterday I linked Max Boot comparing it to the 9/11 attacks.
This morning I had a lengthy dentist appointment and was subjected to CNN on the TV screen, and all they could talk about was how awful it was and why wasn't Trump doing anything about it. This was a picture of me:
