Resistance Terror

This news about Vanessa Trump (wife of Donald Jr.) is appalling.

Vanessa Trump taken to hospital as precaution after white powder sent to her home

by TOM WINTER and JONATHAN DIENST

President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law was taken to a Manhattan hospital as a precaution on Monday after a suspicious letter containing an unidentified white powder was sent to her apartment, senior law enforcement and city officials told NBC News.

The letter was addressed to Vanessa Trump's husband, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of the president and his ex-wife Ivana.

After the letter was opened, three people at the residence were taken to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center strictly as a precaution, the New York City Fire Department said.

There is no indication anyone suffered any injuries; the NYPD said the substance was deemed to be non-hazardous and was taken to a lab for further analysis.

"How disturbed must a person be to do what they did to a mother of five children?'' Michael Cohen, President Trump's personal attorney, said in a statement. "This dangerous and reckless act goes beyond political differences."

Well, it ought to go beyond political differences. We'll see.

seems to me that the section 2 of the 14th amendment is pretty clear that non-citizens (and untaxed Indians) shouldn’t be counted towards determining representation levels in the house. Perfectly valid to ask re: citizenship if not in fact necessary.

>>>we make a serious mistake when we presume stupidity on their part. That's the idiotic mistake THEY have repeatedly made. We should not follow suit. She was his National Security Advisor.

...

That note to self is *very* damaging to Barack Obama. How is this not obvious ??? So, either she is caught in a blatant lie or the President and Jim Comey are caught in BLATANT lies.

A Happy Birthday to Mrs. RattleGator.

I presume stupidity on Obama's part, don't really care much about the 3rd rate minds he surrounded himself with. Once the returns came in and the transition began, the smarter ones knew the story would come out in some way. One of the first things we found out about was the unmasking and most of those disclosures have been self-serving (sort of like the planted question to get in front of the IRS scandal and the planted questions for Hillary to get in front of her private server). Rice's email to herself is self serving, not dissimilar to Lerner emailing to IT, 'oh goodness gracious, another hard drive failure, nobody will believe this' that just happened to wipe out a bunch of relevant files.

If Rice were so smart did she even think to ask why a conversation that Erik Prince (marginally attached to the campaign and not a member of the transition or administration) was having in the Seychelles was recorded and made it to her desk? Or why she was even reading dozens, maybe hundreds, of conversations among people associated with the Trump Campaign-Page was in contact with all those people?

JohnH,

I agree with you. Now if they want to count warm bodies for things like whether more roads are needed, that's ok.

But CITIZENS are the only numbers which should count for determining representatives.

John, Sec 2 is crystal clear and would seem to absolutely require asking the question.

Of course so many in Blue Hells now think everybody should be allowed to vote regardless, so those people will not agree with you and me.

Wray claims Porter's background check was done last June.

GUS

Henry did you read the story. It takes the spokesman out of context. The issue isn't when the FBI gave a report or partial report, the only issue was, the "TEMPORARY" security clearance.

Of course the source was MS13NBC.

Posted by: GUS | February 13, 2018 at 12:51 PM

henry

yes, fake news at its best. saw that Gus. also saw FBI providing updates through last month. (so much for "complete").

Posted by: henry | February 13, 2018 at 12:59 PM

jimmyk

How does this contradict the WH's claim that the background check was ongoing:

"What I can tell you is that the FBI submitted a partial report on the investigation in question in March, and then a completed background investigation in late July, that soon thereafter we received requests for follow-up inquiry," Wray said Tuesday, "and we did the follow up, and provided that information in November, and then we administratively closed the file in January, and earlier this month we received some additional information and we passed that on as well."

It seems that there was an "ongoing" process, even if the formal file was closed in January.

Posted by: jimmyk | February 13, 2018 at 01:02 PM

Ok, henry beat me to that, though it was actually "earlier this month."

Here's another instance where Gateway Pundit gets sloppy.

Either Former FBI Director Comey or Former NatSec Advisor Susan Rice is Lying Based on Yesterday’s Email Released by Senator Grassley

He makes this claim at the end:

Comey never stated that he met President Obama in person in the Oval office in 2017. Either he or former Ambassador Rice is lying. (They both probably are.)

The tweet above the claim:

Another significant finding: in her CYA email on Inauguration Day 2017, Rice states the conversation with Comey & Yates took place "in the Oval Office." Comey denied ever meeting Obama more than 2x in his tenure, and never after 2016. pic.twitter.com/iMSHK9eALh

— Robert Barnes (@Barnes_Law) February 12, 2018

But Comey didn't deny that. He denied meeting him "alone" more than twice.

“I spoke alone with President Obama twice in person (and never on the phone) – once in 2015 to discuss law enforcement policy issues and a second time, briefly, for him to say goodbye in late 2016.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2017/live-updates/trump-white-house/james-comey-testimony-what-we-learn/why-comey-documented-his-talks-with-trump-not-obama/?utm_term=.1aef5c2d59dd

Just got off the phone with my former neighbor, who is a federal marshal for HUD.

We discussed this FBI think and she said she HATES to work with the FBI. She said while she is in charge of assmebling evidence, writing reports, and forwarding to prosecutors, FBI agents have "analysts" who do that type of thing. She said they are too big and don't know much of anything and are TERRIBLE investigators.

Now I appreciate that some of this might be inter-agency rivalry, but I thought you guys would like to know how they are viewed within government law enforcement.

There are too many dots not connecting for me regarding the GEN Kelly/Rob Porter kerfuffle.

1) If GEN Kelly knew Porter was a wife beater for several months now and would never get a Top Secret clearance, what plausible reason would GEN Kelly actively try to protect him so he could keep his job? Porter's job wasn't some highly technical position requiring job skills that are hard to find. Porter could have been easily replaced with just about anybody.

2) The wording of the NY Times article today has FBI Director Wray saying the background check was completed in July 2017. It doesn't say what the results of that background check were. It also doesn't say whether Porter's Top Secret clearance request was denied or still in process.

3) Since we now know the FBI/DOJ was weaponized under Obama, how do we know whether the FBI agents who did Porter's background check are trustworthy? How did Dailymail.com know that Porter beat his ex-wives? His ex-wives never went public with that information. Dailymail.com approached them to confirm if the allegations against Porter were true. Did someone in the FBI leak to the media that Porter was a wife beater hoping it would cause a problem for Trump?

I heard a young Dreamer on the radio the other day saying just that. Seems like Trump is getting through.

Duluth educators are idiots.

No, they’re not. They are perfectly aware of the deliberate damage they are doing to the children in their schools. They are not stupid, they are evil, full stop.

OL,

maryrose is saintly in her always positive reflections on those who we criticize and don't trust. Remember how most saints are remembered?

Martyrs.

great AT piece from Clarice today

Indeed, great piece. Interesting comments about Andrew Weissman, who appears to be the Zelig of prosecutorial misconduct. It seems rather ominous that he is on Mueller's team, though, rather than in prison or at least disbarred.

JamesD,

You're right. Used the wrong adjective.

At the Yale bookstore today, beside buying a Yale hoodie, Frederick picked up a copy of the Elon Musk biography. He has decided that instead of Musk's flamethrower he wants to micro it to a wrist mounted flamethrower. And he has only read 2 chapters.

I am not letting this go until the National Portrait Gallery decides not to exhibit it.

Clarice:
I read the VDH article and it was excellent.
Dims were allowed to get away with getting Libby when the real target was Cheney.
I still remember how upset they were when they couldn’t get him to testify.
Because this wasn’t halted at the time they decided to use the same strategy to get Trump. These people will only stop when some go to jail and face stiff consequences.
Sadly I agree with Tom R.
They have protection six ways to Sunday.
Wray was disappointing today but he too must walk a fine line or his -ss will be in a sling.

OL :
You will be happy to hear that I have given up on Kasich and his petulant reaction to the election of Donald Trump.
As CH has stated in Ohio we rarely have good choices , so we must go with the Republican because they will do the least amount of damage.
As to Romney, I would like him to be the next senator from Utah and don’t apologize for that belief.
Ryan is gradually getting with the program and I still like him as Speaker.
I would point out the criticism leveled at President Bush about spending now also can be applied to President Trump.
Whoever is in power, will spend on their priorities.
I am happy with President Trump and all that he has accomplished.

"Do you think they care about you? You're just a bargaining chip to these people."

And Trump isn't using the Dreamers as a bargaining chip to gets what he wants out of immigration? I don't think that's wrong he's doing that -- it's the only way he gets the immigration law he's looking for. I just find Trump's audacity more breathtaking than usual.

"They could have changed the law on their own, years ago. Why do you think they didn't?"

Hm. I guess they could have done it in the first two years of Obama, but they were concentrating on stimulus and TARP and Obamacare. After that, there weren't 60 votes for it, and the GOP was willing to filibuster.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Appalled,

The dems put the Dreamers in jeopardy by not passing a law. Now they want the President to pass a law without getting anything for it.

Um, no.

And at least he is offering something. What do the dems have to offer them? Nothing, because they couldn't or wouldn't pass a bill.

I see Cruz is against offering a path to citizenship, but doesn't offer any alternative for those DACA people. He's all bluster about deporting illegals, but what do you do with these people who are here through no fault of their own? Yes, their parents were in the wrong, but the last time I looked we didn't punish children for their parents' crimes.

Are we to deprt all of them? THAT would be a nightmare - and where would they go in Mexico or South America, without jobs or places to live?

We need the wall and the other immigration reforms so that this situation isn't repeated. And I am all for offering citizenship after 10-12 years for those who don't commit crimes, have jobs, and generally contribute to society (and they must speak English).

Deport the criminals. For those who can't quite meet the requirements for citizenship, give them a permanent green card so that they can work.

Cruz is posing every bit as much as the democrats, only on the other side.

Yes, I think that Trump has a genuine feeling "fairness" that leads him to want to make an exception for DREAMers in the application of the law. Along with using their status as a bargaining chip.
I certainly don't think he is MORE calculating than the Dems on this issue. Trump's base would back him if he went all out to send DREAMers home and will grumble and worry if he gets special treatment for the DREAMers.
Unlike the Dems.

Plus, the Dems had "only" 2 years to straighten this out. LOL.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Here's the Washington Post via the Boston Globe proving what my art teacher sister says: modern art isn't about talent, but rather about whether you can spin a convincing story around your piece.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2018/02/12/the-obamas-new-portraits-defy-typical-depiction-politicians/wVx1vdah5hCdb4VhEkyWCK/story.html

I would add that this article seems to be trying awfully hard to convince us that these are good paintings and not the dreck we actually see when we look at them.
