Dave (in MA)

How does organizing an Anti-Trump rally help get Trump elected?
They were just trying to cover their trackskis, er tracks.

daddy

David: Could there be a phase 2?...Could there be other people involved, unbeknownst to us now..., that Mueller might be investigating, in particular American citizens?

McCarthy: Sure, it's posible...It sure looks like from what we are seeing here, that there weren't Americans involved in a conscious complicit way, so you have to ask at a certain point "What is the point of what we are doing here?" because it doesn't look like this activity did much in the way of having an impact on the Election. A lot of it just looks kind of amateurish if you ask me.

David: Is it then your feeling...that the Mueller Investigation...is close to an end?

McCarthy: No, I think the Mueller Investigation is now focused mainly on Obstruction rather than Collusion. All we learned today is confirmation of something that everyone knows---The Russians tried to interfere in our Elections and they were doing it before Trump came along. What I think Mueller is focused on right now is Obstruction.

boatbuilder

Hmmm--for some reason I am not hearing the term "nothingburger" from the pundit class on this one.

Odd.

Because it seems to be a lot less of a burger than the Nunes memo.

It's almost as if they wait to get their talking points from somewhere before they start using their words.

I wonder what the word will be for this.

Davod

"DiGenova says the collusion fantasy is over."

Does this means they will stop investigating Democrat collusion?

henry

So McCarthy is cool with investigating "Obstruction" of an investigation of a crime faked by the investigators themselves?

clarice

I have never seen anything so stupid as the present DOJ and FBI and Mueller--never. replace them al with Fordham Law School grads who worked their way thru law school.

Extraneus

This is nothing more than manufacturing an "illusion of action" to justify an investigation.

Yes, but does it bolster an obstruction case against Trump? I mean, if there were no crime, then it's hard to claim obstruction of "justice." But see, there was a crime! And, notwithstanding that Trump had nothing to do with it, he fired Comey to interfere with the investigation of it!

If Mueller doesn't wrap it up by next week, that's what I'm going with.

Right now, 96% have said they turn him off. HA! (I do, too!)

jimmyk

I'm not sure I said that, ss, but it's a reasonable question. But is it illegal for Americans to interfere in foreign elections? I don't know.

But the example of Pelosi and Vincente Fox is about as blatant as it can be, since not only is there foreign interference, but collusion with the foreigner by the leading Democrat in Congress.

And I didn't read McCarthy before I posted that.

My only fear is that this is step 1 by Mueller: Establish an underlying crime. Then step 2 is somehow get Trump or someone in the administration or campaign for obstruction or lying or some other process crime. Absurd as it sounds, I won't rest easy until Mueller closes shop, or has it closed for him.

My transcript of Howie's producer reading this tweet:

"Every piece of information that has been filled in thus far by Mueller confirms a greater scale of Russian interference, more contact with the Trump Campaign, and further reach into the American Electorate."

Howie didn't read it himself because he was laughing too hard.

Experts used lasers to send beams of light from an aircraft to the ground below to build up a map of the area

They discovered a lost pyramid city known as Angamuco built by the Purépecha, rivals to the Aztecs

The city was more than double the size of Tzintzuntzan, the culture's capital, at 10 square miles (26 sq km)

It contained 40,000 building foundations which is roughly the same as on the island of Manhattan

Extraneus

Yeah, Jimmy. The lameness of these indictments seem to only have two possible explanations:

1. Fig leaf for Mueller to back out without his ass showing.

2. Sinister move to overthrow the duly elected President.

Either he wraps it up immediately or RG is no longer wondering what color his hat is.

I think we know it's not white in either case.

"Obama’s Meddling in Foreign Elections: Six Examples" STEVE BALDWIN, June 14, 2017, 4:59 am, The American Spectator.

Contains a lot of good information. A sample is included here:

"...Meddling in other’s elections is a violation of international law. In 1965, the United Nations General Assembly reaffirmed this with a resolution stating: “No State has the right to intervene, directly or indirectly, for any reason whatever, in the internal […] affairs of any other State.” And the International Court of Justice also considers such intervention to be illegal. More importantly, U.S. law prohibits the use of tax dollars to influence foreign elections..."

Obama interfered in: Kenya, Israel, Macedonia (The State Department was still at it recently), Libya, Honduras, and Egypt.

What's the crime? Is collusion a crime, if it happened?

daddy

Judge Napolitano says the Bob Mueller Investigation is finally getting somewhere and he did not incite anybody except Russians in order to smoke others.

Host Liz: ...What is your reaction to all this?

Judge Nap: Well my reaction is that I'm glad that Bob Mueller has finally justified the existence of his Office, and I'm glad that the attitude that the Russians attempted to influence the Election was a Hoax or a Witch Hunt, we know it's not a hoax, we know it's not a Witch Hunt. We know that Bob Mueller is getting somewhere. The question is, the tantalizing question is this---every time the word "defendant or defendent's" is used in the indictment, it is followed with "amend their co-conspirators." The tantalizing question now is were any of their co-conspirators American? It appears not at this point, but I know the way Law Enforcement operates, and they may very well have indicted just the Russians to see if this will smoke out any of the Americans. We also don't know who the 3 Trump Campaign Officials were...Were they down at the George Popadopoulis level or were they up at the Jared J=Kushner, Donald Trump Jr level, but we do know this was a large, broad, professionally run, well organized, well financed effort to subvert the Presidential Election in 2016, and other Elections. It could only have come from the Kremlin itself.

Mueller Still Investigating Possible Collusion, Source Says

Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his prosecutors haven’t concluded their investigation into whether President Donald Trump or any of his associates helped Russia interfere in the 2016 election, according to a person with knowledge of the probe.

Friday’s indictment of a St. Petersburg-based “troll farm” and 13 Russian nationals should be seen as a limited slice of a comprehensive investigation, the person said. Mueller’s work is expected to continue for months and also includes examining potential obstruction of justice by Trump, said the person, who requested anonymity to discuss an investigation that is largely confidential.

Democrats assail $120 billion in stock buybacks in 2018 as new 'GOP tax scam'

"This is a problem for the middle class. Members of this committee promised that middle-class paychecks would be bulging early in 2018, but instead the CEOs are funneling the tax windfall into buybacks that inflate the value of stocks held by affluent executives and wealthy shareholders," Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., said in the Democrats' weekly address, which features prior clips of members speaking on the tax law. "Meanwhile, recent public announcements by companies have found that the employee pay boost, touted by the Republicans, add up to $5 billion give or take."

"I can assure you that if Democrats come back after the November ‘18 elections, we will do our very best to correct the inequities in the bill," Whitehouse finished.

Can’t Let It Go: CNN Hung Up on Collusion Despite Mueller Indictments

After chiding how the White House had “latched onto” “the fact” that a few Trump campaign aids unwittingly worked with Russians, Brown wondered to White House Correspondent Sara Murray: “So you can imagine that the White House would want to come out and say, ‘look, doesn't this show there's no collusion?’ But can they come out and say that?”

“Well, I don't think we can take this to mean there is no collusion in anything that Mueller is looking at,” Murray insisted. “Now that does not mean that there's no part of Mueller's investigation that has not found some kind of collusion.”

Tears must be dripping down ugly faces right now.

Murray seemed to take issue with Rosenstein stating that the outcome of the election wasn’t stolen from Hillary Clinton by outside forces and seemed perturbed that it helped Trump’s argument. “Unclear to me how he feels like he can draw that conclusion based on this kind of interference,” she questioned. “But that is certainly something that will resonate with the President. Because he has viewed these Russian investigations a way to undermine his victory from day one.”

[sob]

Another Bob

Maryrose, on a couple topics I've given up replying to you. But I just have to...

It is NOT Trump's job to "win over" Romney.

Romney claims to be a republican, and Donald John Trump is POTUS and titular head of that party.

It's Romney's job to bend the knee and get with the program, or STFD and STFU.

Full stop.

Extraneus
Later in the show, Brown trotted out media reporter Brian Stelter and touted how the indictment destroyed Trump’s arguments about the Russia investigation. “Brian, not only does this completely blow up the president's, quote, hoax argument but the conservative media that echoes him,” she praised. “Of course, the White House will say the President is talking about collusion when he says it’s a hoax, not Russian meddling, but that distinction hasn’t really been made.”

“I think his tweet from a few minutes ago shows that he's still not taking this all that seriously. This is the kind of attack from another country that merits a prime-time address. That was true a year ago. It's still true today,” Stelter self-righteously declared. “This is the kind of behavior by Russian propagandists that demand a forceful government response. And we're not seeing it from the President.”

Miss Marple the Deplorable
