A good review of the upcoming Govt Unions case at the Supreme Court:

(NR, but these things happen)

If he was so well known to the school, then who let him in?

After the Uber driver dropped him off, Cruz entered the school through the east stairwell around 2:21 p.m. He was carrying a rifle inside a soft black case, according to a law enforcement timeline. At some point Cruz activated a fire alarm...

It would seem the school had essentially zero security. Doors unlocked from the outside, anyone can wander in even carrying a rifle-sized case, and not be stopped or questioned. Shameful for a school that size.

Police have enlisted the help of the FBI after an ISIS flag was found in place of an American flag on a Hurricane High School flagpole Thursday morning.

Following hours of investigation, including analysis by federal agents, Police have determined the flag swap was not executed by the infamous terrorist group.

Hours of investigation! I feel safe!

Old Lurker

"Utah's values"?

From Mountain Meadows to Harry Reid?

Janet 🚬 - I wish my family had a poncho

How many years had the kid been in trouble? Police coming over, kicked out of school...maybe it is President Obama's fault?
Why not?
It is ludicrous to be blaming any POTUS for the criminal acts of a mentally ill kid.

Digging around on the internet I find that the number of REGISTERED guns in the United States is 357 million. This does not count the illegal guns that come in over the southern border, smuggled in shipping containers, etc.

Confiscating the registered guns alone would be almost impossible. It would require hundreds of thousands of new federal agents going house to house. People would resist, lie and say they were lost or destroyed, etc. In some areas, particularly rural areas and inner cities, there would be armed resistance.

And after all of this, you would still have millions of illegal guns in circulation, most held by criminals.

It's simply an impossible task, like making divorce illegal or waving a wand and requiring everyone to eat a healthy diet.

It makes no sense and wouldn't work.

I DO think that someone who has had the police called to his hope 39 times probably shouldn't be allowed to purchase a firearm. I also think that we need better mental health services in this country.

It also seems to me that when someone makes a direct threat which is called to the attention of the FBI, perhaps someone in that high-paid agency should DO something.

DHS ammunition - where did it go - To Obama's civilian army with as large a budget as the DOD?

The Volstead Act worked out real well. Maybe Congress can do that with guns?

Janet 🚬 - I wish my family had a poncho

Why didn't President Obama do something?

I guess President Obama is "obviously mentally ill". He 'literally did nothing'.

Miss M, WI residents own lots of guns. No registration is required here.

On the other hand, I'm not too sad if the FBI gets tarred over this. From the WSJ:

The FBI said on Friday that it mistakenly didn’t investigate a credible and specific tip about the teenager who on Wednesday stormed into a Florida high school and killed 17 people.

But why wouldn't the tipster go to the local authorities? Presumably he or she did. So what about them?

Trey Yingst @TreyYingst

SCOOP: Rod Rosenstein will announce multiple indictments during his press conference this afternoon, I'm told by two sources at the DOJ

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Well, THIS is an interesting although unverified story!

Forced out by Soros, Obama, and Clinton. Boy-howdy if THAT turned out to be true!

Old Lurker

Okey Doke.

Fox News just now:

"The FBI revealed Friday that they received a tip last month that Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old accused of killing 17 people on Valentine's Day, had a gun, wanted to “kill people” and had the “potential of him conducting a school shooting.”

The FBI admitted it did not follow proper protocol as the information was not provided to the Miami field office and "no further investigation was conducted at the time."

“We are still investigating the facts. I am committed to getting to the bottom of what happened in this particular matter, as well as reviewing our processes for responding to information that we receive from the public. It’s up to all Americans to be vigilant, and when members of the public contact us with concerns, we must act properly and quickly," said FBI Director Christopher Wray."

More overwhelmed FBI employees, I guess. No manpower to press the right buttons..

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Old Lurker,

Coincidentally I just pulled up the FBI statement.

Translation: they screwed up.

The special counsel's office said Friday that a federal grand jury indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities in the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

I think I saw that Jimmy.

It's not illegal to announce you want to shoot up a school. So cops can't go and arrest the kid. The proper remedy would be to make him undergo a psych evaluation, and kept off the street until it is done. But democrats think that is too mean.

How can Mueller indict Russians? Or are they simply a little ploy to act like he's doing his job.

Old Lurker

MM "Translation: they screwed up."

Are we still waiting for the hard working highly competent white hat wearing agents to rear their heads and reject the bad things done at the FBI?

Just wondering.

Are they waiting for their opposite numbers in the Intel Community to go first?

The FBI admitted it did not follow proper protocol as the information was not provided to the Miami field office and "no further investigation was conducted at the time."

What exactly is this database that the FBI used when the bail bondsman gave them the prick's name?

No dot connecting in January.

Jane, maybe the ones that bought the Facebook ads for less than $1,000?

This must be his backup skull as Flynn, Manafort, Page, Popadopolous walk on FISA scamming.

Jane, maybe the ones that bought the Facebook ads for less than $1,000?

Good grief. Can you imagine?

I'm not sure if Rush just joked about that or if he just, this second, said that is the reality.

From a gal I follow on Twitter:

FBI Text Messages:

FBI: We hate Trump
Insurance policy against Trump
Trump is a danger to society

Citizen: Dear FBI, this crazy guy is going to shoot up a school.

FBI: don’t bother us, we are trying to keep people safe from Trump

Stephanie Nene Not your normal Grandma

Read somewhere that he bought the gun a year ago. IIRC the 39 visits to his house occurred in the last few months.

Impounding guns from folks who have multiple police calls would have been prudent... maybe a law/procedure that x number of calls results in a court hearing and possible add to the firearm no no database?

Still preserves due process and gives locals an intervention possibility and would have gotten the firearm and prevented (other that illegal) the acquisition of another.

Just spitballing here, but seriously... 39 calls and no action? WTF?

The Mueller indictment says that the defendants allegedly, by early to mid 2016, were "supporting the presidential campaign of then-candidate Donald J. Trump ... and disparaging Hillary Clinton."

I think the calls were over a 5-6 year period, Stephanie.

I don't know how they break down per year.

3 bank fraud, 5 identity theft.

nowhere does it claim they made a hill of beans worth of difference, but expect the "muh Russia" loons to swoon.

Jim Eagle

If we can't deport all the illegal aliens because "its too difficult and would take innumerable resourses, blah, blah, blah" they why can we confiscate all 345 million legal guns? It really is silly season with the Dems and their mentally defective supporters.

This wouldn't be like a repo of a car. People with guns know how to use them. So, who would be doing the confiscating?

Old Lurker

Uh oh!

"The Mueller indictment says that the defendants allegedly, by early to mid 2016, were "supporting the presidential campaign of then-candidate Donald J. Trump ... and disparaging Hillary Clinton."

Quick, Henry, how can JOM delete our IP addy's fast?

Link to PDF of russian indictments.

its all about social media and "bots"

Too late OL, the latest push for "mental health" of gun owners was the checkmate play of the prog's 11D underwater cribbage game to disarm us all.

In the indictment they claim that post election the group simultaneously organized both support for Trump rallies as well as Trump stole the vote rallies.

Russians being Russians..

NEW THREAD, Losers!!!

Captain Hate

Wasn't a big initiative of Cock Curious, Stedman, LoLy and that pervert who headed up Education to make it extremely difficult to expel problem children?

Uh uh uh uh uh, the uh uh 80's called and uh uh they want their MUTT ROMBLEY back........uh uh uh

Several of the firearms I own involved a purchase where a background check was required.

Does that mean they are "registered"? Beats me.

I also have 7 that were owned by long gone relatives, grandpa, dad, FIL.

Doubt if the gummint knows squat about those, and I intend to keep it that way.

"Regular guy" buys 5.56mm ammunition in 1000 round tins. Most of the guys I know have a pretty large stack of these tins.

You know the Boy Scout motto.
