Fake News Flashback: CNN Declared Trump ‘Bonkers’ for Saying Clinton, Dems Behind Dossier

Writing for the far-left CNN back in October, Chris Cillizza declared President Donald Trump “bonkers” and “crazy” for suggesting what turned out to be 100 percent true: that the Democrats, Hillary Clinton, the FBI, and Russia, were all behind what is known as the “Russian dossier.” “[I]t is deeply irresponsible for a president of the United States to even flirt with this sort of conspiracy talk,” the overwrought Cillizza wrote, adding, “[T]he idea that the Russians, the Democrats and the FBI co-funded a dossier designed to discredit Trump’s 2016 campaign is totally bonkers.”

What set Cillizza off on his fake news spree was an October 19, 2017, Trump tweet that said, “Workers of firm [Fusion GPS] involved with the discredited and Fake Dossier take the 5th. Who paid for it, Russia, the FBI or the Dems (or all)?”

In the months since that tweet, everything Trump suggested has been proven correct.

As a contrast to DC, the things the WI legislature is working on to rein in govt: base budgeting (ie govt agency, justify your existence); oversight of "guidance documents" (Sen Johnson has a similar bill being ignored in DC), welfare reform and more.

Note in WI, the Rs can operate even if the Dems fleebag again. even then RINOs slow down reform. DC has bigger uniparty issues plus the 60 vote Senate thing. It will take longer to fix that.

Report: John McCain Associate Received Trump Hoax Dossier Directly from Fusion GPS Prior to FBI Handoff

TEL AVIV — David J. Kramer, a former State Department official and longtime associate of John McCain, received a copy of the infamous, largely discredited 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump directly from the controversial Fusion GPS political opposition research firm, according to a report in the Washington Post. Kramer obtained the dossier from Fusion GPS after McCain expressed interest in the document, according the report. McCain then reportedly passed the dossier directly to FBI Director James Comey.

The new details mark the clearest indication yet that McCain may have known that the dossier originated with Fusion GPS, meaning that he may have knowingly passed on political opposition research to the FBI.

Until now, it has not been clear whether McCain was aware of the origins of the dossier when he hand delivered the unsubstantiated document to Comey.

It is still not clear whether McCain knew that Fusion GPS’s anti-Trump work resulting in the dossier was funded by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) via the Perkins Coie law firm.

McCain has not responded to multiple Breitbart News requests seeking comment on the matter.

I am home and anonamom's diagnosis was the same: "transient global amnesia."

I wil have to get an echocardiogram, a brain wave test, and a scan of my carotid arteries in the next couple of weeks just to be sure I am not having mini-seizures, minor heart interruptions or small blood clots, but he doubts it as something else would have been detected (except the brain waves) when I went to see my cardiologist/high blood pressure doc two weeks ago.

He sees no reason that I can't drive unless something odd shows up on those tests. They can all be done at their facility and will be scheduled together, so as soon as that is done I am good to go! Yay!

He said if I need to run a short errand with my daughter's car, no problem.

Whew! I had to do a whole bunch of things with walking, balance, eye movement, repeating words forwards and backwards, etc.

But some darkies from Central America do like pickin' cotton when it is 105 outside and they might have some darkie music while they do it ... really, really can't believe that Bush said that or that it ever became a reasonable argument in the immigration debate-it is racist on its face.

From the previous thread:

The Obama apologists are claiming that of course "potus wants to know everything," because he was getting briefed about Russia's interference in the election. Nothing to do with the Hillary e-mail investigation. The problem with that theory is that if you look at the texts that day and the surrounding days, their pretty clearly focused on the e-mail issue. For example, they talk about the "breaking on NYT.com" story on the emails. There's no mention that I saw of Russia and the election.

Couple of points:

1. The leftwing media is claiming that the texts were not concerned with the Hillary investigation because the WSJ 'debunked" that theory. The debunking came from some unnamed associated of Strzok and Page in the FBI. For all we know it could be Andrew McCabe or Jim Comey who was the WSJ source of the "debunking".

2. Why would Obama want to get briefed on the "Russia hacked the election" investigation when he already knew that was a false narrative crafted by the Democrats?

3. Strzok was the FBI agent in charge of the Hillary email server investigation. On the same day (2 SEP 2016)the text mentioning Obama was sent, the WAPO published an article about the FBI investigation of Hillary's email server. It was the big news item of the day.

Excellent piece linked by lurkersusie @ 12:01. In it, Mollie Hemmingway discusses the anonymously sourced WSJ piece claiming that what "potus" wanted to know about was the Russia investigation, not the Hillary email investigation.

That Strzok was drafting the talking points about Russia is again reasonable. He was running the investigation into alleged collusion between Trump and Russia, having launched that investigation in July, if not earlier informally. Let me quote CNN from last month, “As a leading counterintelligence expert, Strzok was also involved in opening the investigation into ties between Trump campaign associates and suspected Russian operatives.”

And if the President of the United States wanted to know everything about Strzok’s investigation into Trump and Russia, he’s the president and can do that, even if that contradicts his televised claims.

Now, a reasonable and even mildly curious press corps would start to have some synapses firing. Hmm. President Obama was briefed by Comey on an ongoing investigation into Russia’s election meddling. He wanted to know everything. Was he told everything? Was he told about the focus on the Trump campaign? Was he told about the dossier? Was he told about the source and funding of the dossier? Was he not told about the focus of Strzok’s investigation?

While the libs are gleeful about the "debunking" of the original idea that Obama was reviewing the Hillary email investigation, Mollie explains how much more interesting it is if in fact the talking points were about the Russia investigation.

Extraneus

Btw, in the Mollie Hemmingway piece, she repeats this:

the FBI claimed it didn’t have five months’ worth of text messages requested by investigators, but the inspector general was able to recover them in less than one week.

I seem to remember a statement that "some" texts were recovered, not that all of them were. Has anyone seen anything official stating that all of the texts from the missing time period were recovered by Horowitz's team?

As someone who prefers fiscal responsibility I'm conflicted on the Senate budget deal but taking the pragmatic view that overall its a good thing.

It's ridiculous that for several years now the government has been forced to operate on Continuing Resolutions with the threat of government shutdowns due to both parties refusing to compromise. To get 60 votes to overcome a filibuster means each side gets something they want out of the compromise deal. Whatever deal gets made is always going to mean more taxpayer money gets spent on programs each party supports. The only difference is who controls the House. If the GOP is in control then more money gets spent on programs the GOP supports. Vice versa when the Democrats are in charge. Congress has always worked this way.

The concept of "fiscal conservativism" has become an idealistic pipe dream fantasy. It will never happen even if it is the best thing for the fiscal future of the country. There is no way to enforce fiscal conservatism constraints on the federal budget without cutting entitlement spending like Social Security, Medicare etc and that is political suicide if anyone actually tried to do that. The US is a welfare state and I don't see any way that will ever change.

Knowing that is the case, from a pragmatic point of view I am glad that the military is finally no longer suffering from sequestration limits. That was having a serious impact on the physical well-being of the troops, their families, and equipment materiel readiness.

James Comey Moves Up Memoir Release Date Amid ‘Intense Scrutiny’ At FBI

Former FBI Director James Comey’s memoir will be released sooner than previously planned, Flatiron Books announced Wednesday.

Comey’s memoir, “A Higher Loyalty,” will now be released April 17 instead of the original publishing date, May 1. The publisher said the date change has to do with the FBI being “under intense scrutiny.” The title of the memoir suggests that Comey will discuss his experience as FBI director and his relationship with President Donald Trump before being fired in May. Comey signed a multimillion dollar book deal with Flatiron Books in August.

$20 Billion Hidden in the Swamp: Feds Redact 255,000 Salaries

The only thing the bureaucratic resistance hates more than President Trump is the disclosure of their own salaries. It’s a classic case of the bureaucracy protecting the bureaucracy, underscoring the resistance faced by the new administration.

Recently, Open the Books filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (pictured) for all federal employee names, titles, agencies, salaries, and bonus information. We’ve captured and posted online this data for the past 11 years. For the first time, we found missing information throughout the federal payroll disclosures. Here’s a sample of what we discovered from the FY2017 records:

254,839 federal salaries were redacted in the federal civil service payroll (just 3,416 salaries were redacted in FY2016).
68 federal departments redacted salaries. Even small agencies like the National Transportation Services Board and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation redacted millions of dollars in salaries.
$20 billion in estimated payroll now lacks transparency.
A 7,360 percent increase in opacity hides one out of every five federal salaries.
Who’s the bureaucrat in charge? Not a Trump appointee – the president doesn’t even have a current nominee at OPM. So, the buck stops with new acting Director Kathleen McGettigan, a 25-year staffer who assumed the position because she was the next in line, not because the White House appointed her.

WATCH: Chuck Schumer Called For Military Parade In 2014

Also contrary to mainstream media headlines, it wasn't so long ago that military parades ranked among the few issues to draw bipartisan support. No less a Democrat than Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) vocally supported a military parade on American soil as recently as 2014. The camera-happy senator's call to arms stirred even New York's Bolshevik Mayor Bill De Blasio, who proclaimed, “The brave men and women who have selflessly served our nation with courage and skill in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve a recognition for their sacrifice. I stand with Sen. Schumer in his call for a parade to honor our veteran heroes, and New York City would be proud to host this important event.”
