Flashback: Democrats Defended Sen. Sherrod Brown Against Wife Abuse Claims

When Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel noted in 2012 that Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) had been accused of abusing his wife, liberals accused Mandel of abusing women by raising the issue.

Rita Smith, executive director of the Denver-based National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, declined at the time to criticize Brown. Instead, she defended Brown’s voting record on women’s issues. And she told an interviewer that Mandel’s attack on Brown was “‘actually abusive,’ because he is putting Brown’s family, including his former wife, in a negative spotlight, ‘and that is abusive of women.'”

That is how many Democrats really feel about politicians who abuse women. As long as they have a “D” after their names, and vote for abortion, they are almost incapable of abuse.

A lot of heartless people abused Porter's ex-wife this week.

Tom Del Beccaro: All Corrupt DOJ and FBI Roads Lead to Obama

“Early May, [Obama] endorses her, [and] it’s very rare in our history for a president to endorse in a divided primary within his own party,” said Del Beccaro. “If there wasn’t a sham investigation going on, why would he take a risk endorsing a candidate under investigation by the FBI when on its face she broke the law? His first appearance with her [was] on the afternoon of July 5. You know what happened on the morning of July 5? James Comey goes on TV to exonerate her. This cannot be coincidental.”

“Seems pretty much like they knew what they were doing to me, don’t you think?” asked Del Beccaro, rhetorically.

I think music, whether instrumental of choral, is good for removing stress.

When I sang in the choir at church, I noticed that no matter how tired I was when I arrived at practice, I was energized when I left.

I think it was because choral singing requires paying attention to the director, the music, your co-singers, breathing, pronunciation, etc.

There is no room in your brain for anything else, hence your feeling of energy when you leave.

Early March 2016

Papadopoulos, a London-based former adviser to the presidential candidate Ben Carson, learns he will become a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, with a focus on improving the US relationship with Russia.

On or about 14 March 2016

In Italy, Papadopoulos meets an unnamed professor, based in London, who he understands has “substantial connections to Russian government officials”. The professor is uninterested in Papadopoulos until he learns that Papadopoulos has joined the Trump campaign.

16 March 2016

On or about 24 March 2016

At a meeting with the professor, Papadopoulos is introduced to a Russian woman he believes has connections to Russian government officials and is a relative of Vladimir Putin. (He later finds out this Putin family connection is false.)

Liberal Groups Mobilize Against Trump’s First 9th Circuit Nominee

Liberal advocacy groups have mobilized in opposition to Ryan Bounds, President Donald Trump’s first nominee to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Though criticisms of his professional record are slim thus far, progressive interest groups claim his undergraduate writings are highly inflammatory, such that his temperament might be questioned.

The Alliance for Justice (AFJ), a progressive advocacy organization, reviewed dozens of pieces Bounds wrote as a college student for a conservative weekly called the Stanford Review, that are intensely critical of student activist clubs and campus multiculturalism policies. Taken together, the Alliance says his writings betray an intolerant worldview.

Good link from The Nation, AB.

Listening almost daily to the legion of former US intel officers condemn Russiagate skeptics ever more loudly and persistently in the media, we may wonder if they are increasingly fearful it will become known that Russiagate was mostly Intelgate. For that we will need a new bipartisan Senate Church Committee of the 1970s, which investigated and exposed misdeeds by US intelligence agencies and which led to important reforms that are no longer the preventive measures against abuses of power they were intended to be. (Ideally, everyone involved would be granted amnesty for recent misdeeds, ending all talk of “jail time,” on the condition they now testify truthfully.) But such an inclusive investigation of Intelgate would require the support of Democratic members of Congress, which no longer seems possible.

In that case, let's go with the "jail time" option.

In the haziest hours of my early adulthood, when I was pretty much a lost stoner, I turned to jazz and fusion as a way of coping. I remember buying an LP by Gabor Szabo, and that really was about as far from six degrees of separation I could get from the world, as no one else I knew ever listened to Gabor Szabo. Well, this afternoon, it's been an incredibly lazy rainy day, I put on the Columbia University radio station, WKCR, and they are playing an entire show about the career of Gabor Szabo. I listened to about ten songs, and of course, it being a college station, they don't tell you who is playing between cuts, but wait until you have listened for an hour. Just as the DJ, likely an undergraduate came on, to announce what she had just played, Mrs -peter walks into the room to talk to me, thereby preventing me from hearing what I have been just listening to and puzzling about. So I go to the computer and look at their website and lo and behold, they've been playing a Gabor Szabo retrospective. go figure.
