We need to remind ourselves just WHO we are when it matters !

Thank you for your excellent posts today.
You have a wonderful way of summarizing and expressing all the recent
Events that are unraveling.

Jack is Back!

When you feel special but you’re not that is the kind bullshit we have expected to come from you unspecial community.

Yes. A lot of people do not agree with your lifestyle or agenda.

Jack: "For about the umpteenth time I posted the last comment on a thread. Bringing it over to address sbw on the Dems:"

Slipped in after you, Jack. Look away, MaryRose. Here's my reposts.

GUS | February 11, 2018 at 02:35 AM

Great summary. Archived it.

Also grateful to Clarice for yesterday's link to McCarthy @ NR. His mea culpa may go far towards redeeming him. Perhaps not totally, but at least a good start.

Still catchin' up. Gray chilly day here on the ridge. Probably low 40's. Ha! I see y'all scowlin'. I grew up in the midwest and remember your winters. Last time I was in Milwaukee I think it was the home of the Braves. Should still be, ya ask me. Maders'...yum. Brats and Wisconsin State Fair. Shame in a way that Ryan's from Rock County. That's a beautiful place.

This note's for Mangas Colorado.

Do you know the area called the Cochise Stronghold? A mysterious spiritual experience occurred to me there. I'm reminded of this:

Ich weiß nicht
was soll es bedeuten
daß ich so traurig bin;
ein Märchen aus uralten Zeiten
das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn. Heine

I know not if there is a reason
Why I am so sad at heart.
A legend of bygone ages
Haunts me and will not depart.

On a short walk with my son along the interpretive site trail, I was suddenly overcome by the most intense sense of sorrow in my life. I had to send my son along to the parking lot to grab himself some lunch. Tears had welled up in my eyes and I could barely speak.

Similar hauntings have occurred in other wild places at other times, but never as profound.

Very few folks understand this, so I seldom mention it. Your comments will be appreciated.

That's amazing Ed. I hope you get to experience joy someday in the same way.

I'm around Maryrose. We just have to figure out how to communicate.

I guess I feel a little like Phillip roth, re reality outracing any fiction.

I wonder if this Prof at The Nation knew Nellie Ohr could speak Russian?

Stephen F. Cohen: Stephen F. Cohen is a professor emeritus of Russian studies and politics at New York University and Princeton University and a contributing editor of The Nation.

Cohen's the guy who in A'Bob's 05:13 just ratted out the Deep State in a Nation Interview: The Nation calls bullshit on the Trump/Russia collusion story.

I'm conflicted on after posting 'MAGA' I should finish it with ! or with :)

A nice problem for a Trumpster fan to have:)!

Comanche Voter

Nah, NBC won't make them do five minutes of homework before opening their ignorant yaps.

But what it does do is have them take five stupid pills before opening their yaps. If they weren't ignorant before, they sure are after they take their pills.

Its like they do the operation, with socks brain everyday.

What is NBC getting out of employing that walking freak show Johnny Weir?

--I wish people would stop insulting comedienne-actress Ruth Buzzi, who is a pretty cool person (I follow her on twitter) by comparing Socialist Bader Ginsburg to her.--

Any reference to Ruth Buzzi is to the hair netted, scowling, purse swinging old crone she played that The Bader-Meinhoff Ginsberg gang reminds us all of.

The Ohr thing doesn't pass the laugh test, does it, daddy.

You bet, Clarice.

Sometimes it is good to be well and truly snockered because it really slows your mind down enormously and each comment then becomes like a volume. Well for whatever reason that link somewhere up above to the testimony of Glen Simpson saying he had no idea Nellie Ohr spoke Russian even tho' he hired her, just stuck in my mind like a speed bump on a Luge straightaway. What! You didn't know what! When you hired her you didn't know she spoke Russian?!:) Geebus.

Thwack, Thwack, Thwack!!!

Glen Simpson: Ow, Ow, Ow! That hurt. I thought you were s'posed to be thwacking the bed, not my ass!

Clarice's Dad: Then quit lying to us you rotten sunuvabitch!

Thwack, Thwack Thwack!!!

Glen Simpson: Ow, Ow, Ow!!!

Super busy past few days - Thursday went to see Rod Stewart in concert at Choctow Casino in OK. He gave a great performance considering he's 73 (he did take quite a few breaks). Saturday went to a lovely wedding in Dallas followed by a very elegant reception and dinner at one of the most classy Dallas buildings - City Place and then today went to a Dallas Stars hockey game with my husband, son and 3 y/o grandson. I mention all this to just emphasize why I appreciate all of you (especially MM and Clarice) for keeping me up to speed on everything.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Well, went out to watch a bit of the Olympics and caught Johnny Weir, whose weirdo hairdo was even worse looking than that picture that was posted earlier.

I have to give Tarah Lipinski credit for sitting there and talking like it was nothing unusual.

Brian Boitano used to wear pirate shirts when he skated, which was much better than these form-fitting outfits with netting and see-through areas. These guys need to go back to that.

I used to think gay guys were good at fashion and taste. Weir has disabused me of that notion.

Daddy, Katrina vanden Heuvel who is the publisher of The Nation was commie before commie was cool. She's married to the author of the piece Cohen, who is also sympathetic to Russia.

If the progs lost this crowd, it's over.

She's as the granddaughter of Jules stein, the founder of mca universal, also her father William found diem in a Maryland monastery and helped put him on the throne.

Last week ALPA National mailed me my 25 year commemorative Tie Pin to stick on my clip-on tie, signifying my solid Union Membership for 25 years with all my dues paid up. Can any of the rest of you JOM Socialists beat that?

When I was in college I had a part-time job in a shop that built electrical control panels. We had to join the IBEW, Int'l Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. If the equipment was going to a union plant, the IBEW label got slapped on. If not, no label.

Good news is the company paid our dues, so it was a "who gives a shit".

Hey cousin Glenda!

Here is a link to the Cherokee that is my 8th great grandfather. There is a digital image of a portrait of him.

What do you think? Any family resemblance:)

This just struck me.

My co-worker this trip is the Cross Country Ski bum who got hosed out of going to Norway to do the 40K Cross Country Race in Lilihammer because the Company unexpectedly modified our Trip pairing and made us pull 2 nights of Hotel standby duty here in Cambridge. Somebody had broken in Paris so were tagged to be the standby reserve. I haven't seen him in 72 hours so maybe he went to Norway but thankfully crew skeds never called. I'll find out tomorrow what he did, since I had to stay in the room from 4 PM till 03:30 AM sober when on standby duty. Grrrr!

Anyhow, point I was aiming for is simply that his wife is a Russian History Expert, specifically on Siberia from like 1600 to 1850 and that's what she teaches at the University in New Mexico. I've never met her, and I've only worked with her husband one trip prior, a few years back, but just from bullshitting in the cockpit we find out what folks do, so already I learned on the first trip what her specialty was, how she came to be such an expert in such an exotic field, and on my free hours here this trip I have been scouring the local Antiquary bookstores here in search of some antique 3 volume travelogue she's been searching for, penned by some obscure Norwegian explorer in the 1700's who traipsed unexplored Siberia and wrote about it. (No luck:) So all that said, there is not one in a million chance that an investigative reporter like Glen Simpson did not know the intellectual background of who the hell he was hiring. He is spouting bullshit start to finish. It don't pass the laugh test, nor the smell test nor, if we ever have the luxury of wiring the SOB up, a lie-detector test. Bull-shit, start to finish.

Yes its a small world, daddy its how down in south Florida i cams to know a fmr diplomat from the jfj era, and later the senior mantes Bradley is a historian, his most recent work is a history of ballooning (can the python quip) but was also involved in music production.

--Re. Wretchard, he's clearly disappointed that America elected Trump.--

I don't think that's true. He has some reservations but is clearly far more on the side of the populists than the globalists.
I think he is not far from Subotai's perspective that something large is slowly unfolding and what follows is not at all clear but that the globalists have brought on whatever happens to them.

Reposting this:

"The process also lends impartiality: people criticized in an I.G. report are allowed to review the document in advance and to submit a rebuttal, which should have a disciplining effect on Horowitz’s analysis."

Quoted from: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/02/washington-braces-fbi-bombshell-nunes-inspector-general

Don't bother to read the article - it's Vanity Fair, after all, but is this true? That if you're named in an IG report, you get to contest it? If so, a lot of people must know what has been found out about them and know what's coming. Right?

Can somebody confirm this?

Does this mean that people in trouble already know they're in trouble?

I had never considered this.

Posted by: jim nj | February 11, 2018 at 01:13 AM

Maybe I posted this too late, but I expected more people commenting on this.

Is this correct?

And does that mean that anyone in the IG report already knows what the report says about them?

I loved Rippon as well but was very bummed out that he was the guy harassing VP Pence.

I thought the announcer said that Rippon left that at the gate and the Olympics was going to be his sole focus. If so, there might be a bit of media echo chamber going on.

I like that Pence tweeted complete support.

I, too, get torqued at those who define themselves based on a single characteristic, ignoring entirely the complex human dynamic.

My buddies wife's book: (2016) Merchants of Siberia: Trade in Early Modern Eurasia

When we first flew together a few years back I was reading this: 1688 - a Global History, and since I was doing the Russian History chapters we struck up a good conversation!

Janeprobably about 10 minutes after getting there

I was wondering if Pence would do that and thrilled to hear he did. He is a fine man.

I completely agree with your last paragraph - from both sides - if that makes sense.

I wondered about the answer to your question as well. I don't know. Maybe Clarice does.

Given the purported schedule for the final IG report - late March or early April - I would expect the proposed (draft) report would be out for review about now. The units reviewed in the report always get an opportunity to review and comment.

It do.

Is it wrong of me to define myself as devilishly handsome?

Truth is an unimpeachable defense.

Get yourself a helmet

Montaigne replies: ‘All contradictions may be found in me—bashful, insolent; chaste, lascivious; talkative, taciturn; tough, delicate; clever, stupid; surly, affable; lying, truthful; learned, ignorant; liberal, miserly and prodigal: all this I see in myself to some extent according to how I turn—I have nothing to say about myself absolutely, simply and solidly, without confusion and without mixture, or in one word.’

I don't suppose anyone wants to talk NBA but I'm going to anyway since I have to endure this Olympic globalist crap like a bunch of trick or treaters with UNICEF propaganda that won't get off my porch. Anyway I don't think I've seen a team do what the Cavs did; namely an arguably contending team does a major late in the season roster remake and comes away stronger by gelling quickly and obliterating a contending Celtics team in Boston. I thought the moves were good ones and necessary but I was just hoping for them to show some promise in a losing effort. I still am having a hard time processing what happened but in a good way.

Ron Borges, who writes for the Herald after losing his Globe job because of plagiarism, got punked by a WEEI caller last week and wrote a fake Tom Brady story based on made-up info that the WEEI caller sent to him in a series of text messages, claiming to be Brady's agent Don Yee. Borges is serving an indefinite suspension because he claimed his story was based on info from multiple sources. I guess it was too good to check when you're a long-time Pats hater.

Shortly after this became public, former Patriot/current WEEI personality Christian Fauria did a bit making fun of Borges by doing a stereotypical Asian accent as "Don Yee". Amid the outrage that followed, WEEI suspended Fauria for a week.

In the AP story above, no mention is made whatsoever of Borges and his "journalism". Print writers have to stick together, I guess.

OK, so if you're named in the report, you get to explain, clarify, bring in additional information, name names, etc.

You know why they're looking at you. No one named in the report will be surprised when the report is issued.

Collectively, they know the gist of the whole report.

It seem's to me that if you find out you're in jeopardy you would want to cooperate to your fullest extant possible to mitigate any remaining concerns.

Am I right to think then that the report will be extremely comprehensive?

1. Saw a rerun of the luge guy winning the silver.
2. Saw Johnny Weir with the WEIRd hair.
3. Retreated to computer until a friend texted me about the tattoo on the thigh of the gal who did the triple axle.

5. Came in here for the rest of the night.

Hello, Clarice. Thank you for your indefatigable seeking after truth and for your deft employment of apt and delightful words like 'lagniappe'.

How goes it, narciso? As for me, all is well. Have you been following the news from the Russian Federation, where revealing details of an individual's personal life without his permission runs afoul of the statutes in force?

Momto2, I think it its something by this guy:

Nicolaes Witsen (8 May 1641 – 10 August 1717):

Wiki: modern Dutch: Nicolaas Witsen) was a Dutch statesman who was mayor of Amsterdam thirteen times, between 1682 and 1706. In 1693 he became administrator of the VOC. In 1689 he was extraordinary-ambassador to the English court, and became Fellow of the Royal Society. In his free time he was cartographer, maritime writer, and an authority on shipbuilding. His books on the subject are important sources on Dutch shipbuilding in the 17th century. Furthermore, he was an expert on Russian affairs. He was the first to describe Siberia, the Far East and Central Asia in his study Noord en Oost Tartarye [North and East Tartary].

Individual employees don't get to respond - the unit chiefs do. I don't know the organizational scope of the review, but it surely goes beyond the FBI. Also, I don't believe it is a criminal investigation, per se. The benchmark will be the agency's established policies and procedures. IIRC Rosenstein's memo leading to Comey's dismissal found that he had not followed applicable policies and procedures.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Saw a couple mentions of him being on that plane but all sources were iffy, so didn't post it here.

If he was on the plane, and someone like the Clintons via CIA supporters arranged for the "accident", isn't that an attack on Russia?

I'm still close to shocked at The Nation article. I haven't watched MSNBC in years, since Bush was first elected, but when I use to see Kristina Vanden Heuvel on Chris Matthews show I always thought she was as close to a rattlesnake as anything I ever watched and heard. It was like poison flowed out of her mouth, which was always pursed and slightly rigid and smeared with hate.

Wow, if she allowed that article in her magazine, something bigly wicked this way comes.*

*Iggy used another version.

Stephanie Nene Not your normal Grandma

I can sympathize with the South Korean skater. If you remember my tale of foute's in a performance, it brought flashbacks.

If you change channels regularly, you can almost have Olympics coverage on 24/7. Late night is a recap of what was on the non primary channels, and the late late night is almost all cross-country/curling/luge and non US dominated sports. Prime time is the alpine/skating/tricks on snowboards stuff. All in all, the NBC coverage is better than ABC, but that ain't saying much.
