There are not good school shootings but this one in Maryland could have been worse, but for the intervention of the armed school resource officer:
(CNN)The school shooting was over in seconds. But it could have dragged on longer and proven deadlier were it not for the rapid response of a school resource officer.
When a 17-year-old gunman walked into Maryland's Great Mills High School on Tuesday, the swift action of the school's sole resource officer, Blaine Gaskill, was instrumental in bringing the incident to a quick end.
Gaskill's response was hailed as an example of exactly what a resource officer is supposed to do in such a circumstance, particularly when contrasted to the actions of the security officer in last month's shooting in Parkland, Florida. (In the incident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, the armed school resource deputy waited outside the school building as the shooter gunned down students inside.)
...
As soon as the gunfire began, Gaskill rushed to the scene. He fired a round at the shooter, who also fired a round at the same time, Cameron said.
"DFC [Deputy First Class] Gaskill fired at the shooter ... almost simultaneously as the shooter fired," Cameron said. "This is something we train, practice and in reality, hope would never come to fruition. This is our worst nightmare."
Gov. Larry Hogan called Gaskill "a very capable school resource officer who also happened to be a SWAT team member." "This is a tough guy who apparently closed in very quickly and took the right kind of action," he said. "And while I think it's still tragic, he may have saved other people's lives."
I think Gaskill will be making a trip to the White House.
He should! No one is talking about it, because it doesn't enhance the gun control issue.

So Geraldo Rivera is on F&Fs this AM live from Austin, Texas, telling us that the bomber's motive is Austin is an island of blue in an ocean of red and since the bomber is from outside of the island of blue, well draw your own conclusions. I despise that little turd. He is so ugly I can't imagine him ever being considered a "stud". ::shudder::

And the governor of Maryland wants something done, not just our prayers. Will no one ask him what he wants done? Make them tell us they want to repeal the 2nd amendment.

He does like the sound of his own voice, Jane. I'm guessing we are stuck with him until he dies or I do. Because my campaign to have him removed isn't working. ::sigh::

Teacher who called military 'lowest of the low' is fired

To me it was what he said, but also that he spends class time ranting about his political beliefs. I wouldn't want a teacher ranting about hating Hillary either.

political rants, walk out protests, advocacy orgs invited into schools to give programs, watching movies,.....
All of it needs to stop. Get back to core functions. I'm convinced we need to shorten the school day & maybe even finish high school by 10th or 11th grade.
Short & serious.

You know, that may turn out that it is what it is, but the media, including celebrity reporter Rivera, would have never made that jump before they knew for sure if it was Isis related.

Hopefully, CNN will go with comprehensive "lessons learned" coverage about how a good guy with a gun is the best defense against a bad guy with a gun!
No?

Article about doomsday preppers:
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-20/what-do-they-know-we-dont-dc-officials-flock-doomsday-camps
Through memberships and his own cryptocurrency called “Fortitudes,” Miller has raised about $400,000 and established a ranch in West Virginia and Colorado with 10 others planned.
Question: In a SHTF scenario where society has collapsed and a bunker/ranch like this offers a chance of survival, what exactly are you going to do with the cryptocurrency that the prepper is selling? Doesn't cryptocurrency require electricity to power computers, networks, etc?

“But it could have dragged on longer and proven deadlier were it not for the rapid response of a[n armed] school resource officer.”
Fixed. I’m sure CNN’s omission of that in the lead was inadvertent.

I love the assumption that they'll be able to get to their doomsday bunker halfway across the continent if a SHTF scenario occurs.

Ah Sue--your accurate description of Jerry Rivers (Geraldo Rivera's birth name before he went the Mexican Fauxcahontas route) as a "little turd" brought a smile to my face. He does tend to beclown himself.
Now as for the Austin bomber being from "outside of Austin" Jerry Rivers screws up again. The dude lived in an Austin suburb. The Daily Mail has a headline describing him as a "devout Christian"--you can't trust those Christians you know if you are a lefty. But you read the article under that headline and there is no mention of anything which would support the "devout Christian" headline.
