Re AG Sessions' use of the word "obstruction" in his speech out here today.
A week or so ago, in my impeccably verbose style, I made the point how the Feds can prosecute sub-Mayoral levels of City personnel for obstruction.
In discovery--- get all the emails and policy documentation, and funding records. Have them point the collective finger at Mayor Schaaf.
She'll be out of office without firing a shot. Then prosecute her til the non-existant central valley dairy cows come home (thanks to the bullet train nonsense of former Mayor Brown).
This is getting good. Moar of anything!

Back when my eldest was living the debauche life here in Berkeley in her youth, she was traipsing home snot-flying drunk at 4am, "just before the dawn."
An errant possum was crossing the sidewalk in her path. Jess stumbled on it. The possum squealed as did Jess. As she turned to look back at what happened, Jess remembers the possum was standing there "glaring" at her, as if to ask "WTF, bitch?"
She reported that she had to throw away her boots because the collision had smeared the notorious greasy possum slick onto her kidskins. Ruined it with that gamey smell.
I knew bumpkins in southern 'ilnoy' that hunted and stewed them varmints. Nassy chit.

henry,
In Florida, they really do try to stay away of any dense population. Have a friend who is the top wildlife biologist for UF. He tracks and reports them. Lots of people get larger lynkx confused with Cougars, not to say your report did but it happens a lot in Florida because of all the new folks who move in and hear about Panthers. Like the hockey team:)

There have been sightings of large cats in the local communities this winter. Jack mentioned the Florida panther is a subspecies and most likely they are cougars or bobcats. The snowbirds freak out when one is sighted. There are three developments being built in our area. The Atlanta Braves are building a huge spring training/sports facility about five miles from here. There are thousands and thousands of acres being cleared. All those critters have to go somewhere.

2 Stories from the UK Telegraph, neither of which I can get to link, add to the info on the Russian Spy and his daughter poisoned in London.
The first story tells us that he is good friends with a Russian client of Christopher Steele's, who is supposed to have fed Steele some of his lines of Dossier BS.
The second story tells us that the Policeman that gave the Russian Spy and his daughter First Aid after they were poisoned, has himself been placed in Intensive care due to suffering from the same Nerve Agent poisoning. It must have been awful deadly stuff.

Many years ago when the FBI was tapping Morton Halperin's phone line an old friend fropped by for a few minutes. At some point he asked to use our phone (this was before mobiles). His son and one of Morton's were in some kind of scouting thing together and they used weird made up Indian names for each other and the group. My friend mumbled something incomprehensible to me about an upcoming meeting. I'm sure that conversation was tapped and I still wonder what the hell the FBI made of it.

The chain doesn't turn while the saw is idling and it's safer to have it already running than have to start it in the tree.
I can attest that timber fallers do indeed have the highest worker comp rates on planet earth.
If it's changing an outlet or switch I often don't turn the breaker off either. Ya get bit once in awhile but not a big deal.

Man, I am jealous!
I would love to see Lynx/Bobcat more often. I have only seen 2 in the wild my entire life. I love cats, have had them my entire life. We just had to put down Daisy recently, I rescued her from my mom's cat colony in 2003 so she had a good long life.
There have been cougar sightings for years in West Bloomfield MI, just a few miles away. The MI DNR finally admitted we have them in the lower peninsula. I really think I would like to keep my distance from them.
We have deer come through every day, 2 of them look ready to give birth but not sure when that happens. The "alpha mom" now comes into the yard and we throw older bread to her. She finally allowed her 2-year-old to join her the other day.
Jake the Dog (Tri-Color Black Border Collie) and I tracked down a pack of 5 coyotes a few years ago. I saw the prints in the side yard and noted it was not long ago (Jake was really ready to go). I donned my hunting clothes sans rifle and off we went (but always carrying my pistolas). There is a 1/2 mile of woods across the main road, which is where they went. We caught up to them on the edge of a field while it was still light out. Jake growled and barked, scattering them into the other side woods. They gave some parting yips, but Jake shut them up pretty quick. Have not seen any tracks in a long time...

Back in the day, this old software guy was known to debug some hardware. I just took the watch off (no rings at the time) and got elbow deep. Hardly ever turned off a breaker. Right up until I started working with megawatt+ power electronics that, frankly, made me a bit nervous just being around.
Biggest stuff I play with at work now is 5v. And at home I open breakers all the time now.

These copies are made in China, they are similar but not the same as the original, as our laser cuts are much better and our Steel has been tested to comply for Europe and World Wide food safety. Our steel will not Rust, safe to use in the dishwasher. The Chinese even copy our own photos to promote their cheap quality product, they also produce smaller nozzles than the originals, although some now produce the same size again copying us, the tips are very thin. Clariice,
That;s funny!
There is a grain of truth in his complaints, though.
Years ago when my ex-husband was touring Germany, the equipment manufacturer for longwall mining said he would not sell the Chinese less than five installation assemblies.
The reason was that he knew they would be copied and re-sold, so he wanted to get as much profit as he could up front. (Each one cost millions of dollars.)
Posted by: Miss Marple the Deplorable | March 07, 2018 at 09:21 PM
We had a bobcat in very bad shape show up in our neighbor's yard the other day. It had cataracts and was just pathetic. They are shy creatures. There is someone up in Idaho or Montana who breeds a domesticated gene pool. That would be the need in this household as the Aussie Shepherd would eat anything smaller and less fierce.
There is an overpopulation of mountain lions around here as well. They need a lot of space, and so are pushing into the national forest and suburbs both. One of them slaughtered a corral full of 4H baby goats last year.

Posted by: Captain Hate | March 07, 2018 at 09:30 PM
Well, this will probably be the thread killer given how long this one has run, but here goes.
Small arms shooting, especially training young uns. Like my handle, you really need a manual transmission. That is, a bolt action, or at most a lever action. If a kid started with an autoloader (s)he will never treat the process with the right respect. It is not a video game.
After about 12 yrs of plinking, I joined triple rifle teams (Az State, AFROTC, NRA). I put many thousands of rounds through the barrel of a Winchester 52D, one hand loaded round at a time while hitting a 1 mm dot at 50 ft. With a precise 3 lb trigger and a bedded bbl, it was never the gun's fault when the bullet didn't hit that 1 mm dot.
Next, regardless of what your basic training drill sgt might have beat into you, you basically never clean your weapon. If one of us did that, it would often take 1K rounds to get it back to a predictable behavior. Of course, AR-15s need to have their gas tube cleaned after a 1K rounds or so.
I've probably lost most of you by now, but having wasted about $1MM on exotic lubricants, I can easily say that a couple drops of the right oil (Iggy has some) overwhelms any other fussing with the actions. They just get better over time. If you think about what the mega-tuning shops do, they just wear things carefully the way you do when you run many 1Ks of rounds through the action. My new Micro9 may never get tuned in, because I can never get enough through it for it to start behaving properly, unless they finally offer spring kits for it. (As I mentioned awhile back, I can't fire my .357 DW in DA mode, because the spring kit doesn't hit hard enough reliably. But that is what you need to hit steel at 100 yds.)
