Thanks for the update henry. The change to your lipids is typical.
I bet your triglygerides are less than sixty too.
MM's sister should consider a new doctor if that diet came from her physician. Nobody who is keeping up would advise a low fat diet.
Yesterday the editor of Annals of Internal Medicine was on Tucker's show, as they have an article in this month's edition advocating that internists question patients during visits about guns in their homes, in light of increased risk of death by gun. (Tucker says only suicides; she says both suicide and homicide.)
I suggested via a message on Twitter that they have internists counsel patients on removing processed carbs from their homes, as they cause far more deaths and infinitely more disease than guns.

The Awan story is being explained by Daily Caller reporter Christopher Bedford. He says the Awan brothers are appearing in Civil Court on charges by their stepmother, who says that they held her in captivity and they wiretapped her.
That Court appearance starts at 10 AM East Coast Time today.
Reporter Bedford lists a long litany of various Lawsuits and similar charges of hostility against women by the 2 Awan brothers. Bedford also says that The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (whoever they are) is bringing out an Ethics complaint against Dem Rep Emanual Cleaver for paying people who were not members of his staff, and for giving Imran Awan access to his IT networks, without paying him. Bedford says these things could be pretty serious for Cleaver.
Maria Bartiromo lists chapter and verse of a ton of the Awan corruption fingers snaking thru DC, showing she is still right on top of all this corruption, and then asks reporter Bedford where does he see any of this going?
Bedford replies that people in DC have been and are slow walking this and the Dem's in Congress are refusing to bring any complaints even tho they are the victims, since members of Congress own the information inside their offices., but Bedford ways that what they do not own is the money to pay their staff, so if Rep Cleaver is paying 60K to somebody who worked as a manager at McDonalds but who did not work in his office, and who he did not know, and he, Cleaver, was accountable, that's a clear cut violation of Ethics and the Public Trust, and when our reporter asked Cleaver "who is this guy, Abas?" Cleaver replied "I don't know him, I work with Imran."
Bedford says Cleaver paid Imran only once, just 200 dollars. You are not allowed to give somebody access to the House IT network and give them an administrative duty, unless you pay for it. That's also an ethical complaint. So if this goes onward it will be referred to the Ethics Committee, and they will have to investigate whether he broke the Law.
Bedford says "it is slowly, slowly, slowly starting to roll", (but IIRC Trey Gowdy is head of the Ethics Committee and he infamously told Maria Bartiromo he has never heard of the Awans. lets hope Trey has heard of him now.) It may be that Trey is head of oversight, not Ethics. I can't remember.
The talk now gets more involved but I'm going to bed. Nite nite.

And one more, then I'll quit. This study on low carb eating in Type Two diabetics (CCI--Continuous Care Intervention, since they had to adjust meds) v UC (Usual Care--like the high fiver low fat "healthy grain" diet MM's sisters doc would prescribe, I'm guessing).
In the Journal Diabetes Therapy, Feb 2018

This is what got me to share it:
Insulin therapy was reduced or eliminated in 94% of users; sulfonylureas were entirely eliminated in the CCI.
No adverse events were attributed to the CCI.
Additional CCI 1-year effects were HOMA-IR − 55% (P = 3.2 × 10−5), hsCRP − 39% (P < 1.0 × 10−16), triglycerides − 24% (P < 1.0 × 10−16), HDL-cholesterol + 18% (P < 1.0 × 10−16), and LDL-cholesterol + 10% (P = 5.1 × 10−5); serum creatinine and liver enzymes (ALT, AST, and ALP) declined (P ≤ 0.0001), and apolipoprotein B was unchanged (P = 0.37). UC participants had no significant changes in biomarkers or T2D medication prescription at 1 year.

Anonamom,
This is a topic that I can discuss pretty freely with my illiberal friends until I point out that it was the government that published and pushed the food pyramid that we grew up with - the one with the majority of our diet being carbohydrates. Of course, they realize where I’m going and change the subject.
It’s usually my answer to the “science is settled” line of thinking.

That Awan story will make for good summer news as everything slowly comes to the surface while Americans are on vacation, hitting its peak in September when everyone is ready to settle down to business and pay attention to politics.
How many are going to find themselves in the same boat with Cleaver?
Posted by: Robin, eff 'em all | March 07, 2018 at 07:12 AM
Captain Hate,
I am struck by how much I ignore the news media now in favor of people on Twitter.
Are the Twitter people biased? Yes, but they dono't pretend to be impartial. You know where they are coming from. Do they sometimes make mistakes? Yes, but they own up to them and usually correct them.
You can learn more in reading those links from Wictor on Saudi Arabia than in watching a year's worth of cable news.
It's not even fake news anymore, because it's not even news. It's simply a tale told to push an agenda.

Robin, we owe the grain-based food pyramid---and the obesity epidemic, in good part-- to Sen George McGovern, D-SD.

It's been trash for a long time. When I could stand to be in the room when it was going on, which was a long time ago, I used to point out the "human interest" stories that clogged up a scant half hour minus commercials of "news" by saying "that's not news".
What do you expect from a network run by Disney, who lied to the audience about lemmings to produce an overwhelming population believing something that just wasn't true. What were real sciency people thinking when they saw that knowing it was fake data being thrown out to a trusting group of people. Did anyone try to speak up? If they did it didn't make any waves. I don't like being lied to and they're still doing it. They can't go out of business too soon.

At 5:21am we got a phone call from school that they were closing for today. That means it was the various public school districts who chose to close for a little bit of rain. They control the buses. Frederick is home and it is good that he can catch up on his Biology and Latin.

Sue, Cruz got more votes than his 7 opponents combined.
"How's that Texas blue wave coming along? Oops."
It ended up being a blue teardrop.

No primary in Ahia but Katshit delivered his last State of the State address in which he "more resembled a minister giving a sermon about values and human compassion". Just STFU and go away.

I am less concerned about Kabala Harris than previously given the fact she seems to be cementing a reputation as a dumb brick of the Babs Boxer variety.

Has there been a shred of evidence that crossover Dems had any effect on the Alabama election? When I posted all of the vote totals for Moore(primary and general) and compared them to Session's previous vote totals, it was impossible to conclude that Dems had any sway at all.
Moore lost because of GOPe backstabbing. Perpetuating the false narrative that Dems 4D chessed the Alabama Senete race is ridiculous, IMO.

That Seattle story does highlight the potential for abuse of gun ros and one, if it becomes common, that will very quickly render them pernicious.
That is the provision LE, rather than immediate family, can request one which gives busy body neighbors and troublemakers cart blanche to abuse it.

.25 ACP - A "mouse gun" as it were. Good for those who are "recoil sensitive" such as older people or those with arthritis.

Does anyone have more of a handle on the "President reverses his decision on elephant trophy imports" than what I found after ignoring the hair on fire stories from Huffington Post, MPR, and the networks?
This has upset my daughter (took a day off from work and of course she sent me the Huff Post article).
All I can find is that Fish and Wildlife said they were going to handle it on a case by case basis.

I think the tiny Montana suggests it's not on the up and up.
