Captain Hate

One very good thing about Twitter has been overlooked: DJT uses it very well!

I am very grateful for JOM being JOM; the conversations, links, and perspectives. JOM speaks to my vast "I don't know what I don't know."

clarice feldman

Good morning,JOM! Happy Easter!

RG, I use Twitter, for the reasons you state.

I will argue it grants, even fosters, a unique level of "low discourse"--the horrendousness of which I speak. (Perhaps) since it allows for anonymity, the level of infantile name calling found there is unsurpassed.

Maybe attorneys are better at distancing themselves from the Commons. ;-)

Geez, I woke up before Clarice got posted?!?

Is there a shot you can get for preventing bronchitis? Supposedly, for elderly people. An annual one like the flu shot.

Bravo Zulu, Clarice. Lets keep them in the headlines.

Clarice's "Pieces" highlights that even the FBI holds all the cards in an investigation they can still fumble the hand.

And if I hear the little shit described as a "survivor" of the shooting one more time I'm going to wretch. Just how big is the radius of survivors? Hiroshima sized?

Best thing said about the little Hogg last night.

As usual Iggy not buying into any BS.

Captain Hate

Clarice serves as a necessary corrective to the numbskulls at Weekly Standard and, I assume, Andrew "See No Government Evil" McCarthy, on the purported integrity of the FBI under Robert Mueller. Pre Mueller, the FBI was already well on the road to uselessness under, of course, Slick's security nightmare administration when they erroneously sicced the MFM on Richard Jewell, a security guy who was trying to help, and made him out to be the Olympic bomber until a US attorney ultimately cleared him. How nice to be convicted in the court of public opinion of something you tried to help prevent.

Shut the FBI down now!

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

would you say that to any of your friends kids?--

If he called me a "pathetic f***er" and explicitly said I was an accessory to murder you better believe I would say considerably worse and more personal things than what Ingraham said and I'd apologize for them about the same time they were prying my cold dead fingers off my gun.

More importantly this disgusting little prog made himself a public figure and has injected himself into the hardball world of politics wherein you don't receive some immunity from getting your head stove in just because you can't grow a beard.
Either he is a child who cannot be criticized because he is too young to be held fully accountable in which case his opinions are similarly irrelevant or he is an adult public figure in which case he is subject to the same rules of ridicule as everyone else.

Good Morning! Happy Easter!

Great job, Clarice.

Thank you so much for highlighting the FBI's non-recording of interviews. As you said, this should be stopped right now by Sessions or Wray. Either that, or President Trump should do an EO, except probably the dems would call it obstruction or something.

This is FAR more personal that Laura Ingraham's comment. All in Hogg's own words.

Happy Easter!

In the good news department, after her final plasmapheresis, Mrs. sbw will be sprung tomorrow from the wonderful neuro unit at Upstate in Syracuse. She still has residual sensory nerve problems in her legs and feet but motors okay and maybe they will repair in months.

She is balanced, happy, and, we both agree, we are blessed.

Overnight blustery winds are passing and the sun is shining through.

AP via Washington Times:

Melania Trump escapes to Mar-a-Lago amid calls to leave president

With fresh details spilling into the headlines daily about how Donald Trump allegedly cheated on her early in their marriage, the former model escaped the intense glare by spending the past week at the family’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida, with their 12-year-old son, Barron.
On Mrs. Trump’s first full day away, when the president also was at their Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump had dinner not with her but with attorney Michael Cohen - who [what, no "allegedly"?] paid porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 in 2016 to keep her from going public with her story of a 2006 tryst with Trump. The Trumps did dine together on Thursday night after the president returned to Florida, with boxing promoter Don King stopping by to chat.

Some say the first lady should exit her 13-year union with Trump, much like Hillary Clinton was urged to do after President Bill Clinton’s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky became public in the late 1990s.

Some say the AP is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

Clarice: large numbers of Americans are losing faith in our institutions and the people who have been running them.

On target and an essential distinction: The underlying disease is NOT the institutions, but DEFINITELY the people running them:
1. It’s pure Antonio Gramsci that the enemy’s war will won not with weapons but by a long march through the institutions.
2. They want us to give up institutions that have worked.
3. Therefore, the corruption of the institutions needs to be countered, not the institutions rejected.
4. The actions, intents, and substance of fifth column soldiers are all fair game for criticism
5. They will accuse us of doing what they do to have us fire into our own ranks.
6. This war of words can only be won through identifying, labeling, and laughing at their stupidity, not giving in to it.

Ext: Some say...
I agree.

Whenever “Some say”, AP is at its most insidious.

“Some” do not “say”. AP reporters and editors want to promote their personal views.

Named individuals say. The rest are rumors unworthy of reporting. Rumors have NO business in real news.

Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!

More shots fired!

Foo Bar

1993 was a peak year for crime, so baseline games are being played here. Still, case closed, right?

The number of firearms may have increased since the early 90s, but that's because guns per person among gun owners has increased. The percentage of households with at least 1 gun has decreased since the early 90s. Several independent polls have found a downward trend over the past several decades in the share of households with guns.

Happy Easter to all JOMers.

Sweet dreams to Catsmeat, improved good health to Mrs SBW and PD in Detroit.
Gratitude for recovery of Momto 2 and KK.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Having a hard time understanding your point foo bar. If it's that large arsenals among gun owners do not contribute to crime then I concur.
Or perhaps it's that the laws already on the books work well. Concur again.

Have to wonder though if you have analyzed the NYT's much more spurious graph regarding immigration and crime similarly?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Stolen from Twitter:

Foo Bar

If it's that large arsenals among gun owners do not contribute to crime then I concur.

I know you won't agree with this, but in my opinion, the polls I cited at least suggest the possibility that a decrease in the share of households with easy access to a gun may be connected to the decrease in gun homicide rate. It doesn't prove causation, but that theory is at least as plausible as the idea that the increase in total number of privately owned guns has helped decrease the gun homicide rate.

Jack is Back!

Wonderful baroque orchestra and chorale. They are in Prague and have a reknown "Music Bridge" program where they also are resident in the Annekirch in Dresden.

re: foob "percentage of households with at least 1 gun has decreased since the early 90s"

WaPo link so probably lies. Still, would be interesting to see a similar survey with immigrants filtered out if they are from a country with no history of gun ownership.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Seems rather less plausible since the vast vast majority of crimes, including homicide are committed by people for whom easy access to firearms is always a given.
Your theory requires us to believe that the drop in numbers of households with guns includes the violent offenders who commit the vast majority of homicides.
Unless you believe 49% of homicides were committed by otherwise law abiding citizens all of whom decided they didn't want a gun in their home just in case they went berserk in the future.
The contingency is a remote one.

Jack is Back!

Foo Bar may have inadvertenly touch on a demographic anomaly I have noticed. As we gray as gun owners, hunters, shooters, and collectors, who are taking our place? Our kids are being brainwashed everyday to the Bill Ayers SJW testament. Would love to see the gun buys by age group 18-35 in the last few years on a per capita basis to the gun buys per capita in say 1985, 1995 and 2005.

Its possible that Media Hogg may be ruining Ayers script by mouthing off the negative which may reverse the trend among the millenial set.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

And you seem reluctant to apply your withering analysis to the Times laughable "myth" immigrant graph.
You're not polishing your cool analytical bona fides by ignoring that groaner in lieu of specious gun arguments.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

JiB, the downtrend seems fairly clearly related to evil "mass incarceration" and beefed up and altered law enforcement techniques, more than anything.

Another Bob

foobar, there is no poll about gun ownership that's worth the pixels it's displayed on, particularly when handgun ownership is included. This is because very few sensible gunowners will discuss their gun ownership with strangers.

The progs are also well-underway in the process of driving semiautomatic rifle ownership into similar shadows.

Jack is Back!

Not everyone in that millenial age group is part of a mass incarceration. I still think the demographic on gun buys by (lets say) white non-hispanic between 18-35 is down compared to 20 years ago on a per capita basis. If it is not then our millenials are less affected by the 24/7 evil news of guns than I am assuming.

Would love to see those stats but have no idea where to find them. Is there an FFL association who collects that data?

Happy Easter All!

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Not everyone in that millenial age group is part of a mass incarceration.--

No, just the criminals.

Your news made my Easter! I'm very happy for you guys!

Jack is Back!

Criminals are not known to be legal purchasers of guns but non-criminals are known to purchase them legally. I would still like to see the stats since I think our education system may be playing a role in reversing the attraction of being legally armed for either protection or sport.

Of course, that is my opinion like the one I had about Loyola going all the way.

sbw, happy to get the good report!

For your consideration:

My nephew's neurologist prescribed fish oil for him post concussion. Well, had him increase it. My extended family takes it daily.

Dr. Barry Sears wrote what I read about it early on. Yes, he is the Zone guy.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

That may very well be true JiB.
But I doubt it has any measurable effect on crime stats.

Heading to the daughter's in a bit to take Ariel an Easter basket. Some toys and a water mat to play on on the back deck. It bubbles up little fountains like the Centennial Park fountain, should be fun once the weather stays warm.

sbw - great news! Prayers that your wife continues to improve.
BTW - I am enjoying your book although I have only gotten a few pages read. Grading research papers ( and, I admit, JOM) is reducing available hours to read. Spring break coming up so I look forward to finishing it next week.

Here in the ATL area, we are supposed to have the warmest day in the last 5 months.

Stephanie - enjoy that granddaughter - I can't wait to make Easter baskets again when I am blessed with grandchildren. My favorite things to concoct when mine were little were Christmas stockings and Easter baskets.

The Sun is out here in Antwerpen. Brilliant as a NATO F-16 buzzes the house:) Belgian driven. Airbase is about 20 miles north of us. That is interesting Jane.

We could have a second SC, which would most likely devolve into a political show pony operation, or we can nail some hides to the wall much sooner.

Still not giving up my spot on The Ledge, but this is promising.

Happy Easter one and all,

About last night...

It seems appropriate for Easter to note that the left is all too often willing to see us as less than human, not only wrong but evil, deplorable, IRREDEEMABLE. Throughout history the first step in oppression, destroying lives, killing, is to make a group less than Human, I do get it.

With what seems at times a constant onslaught of this, it's hard to remember on our part to hate the sin not the sinner.

This whole Hogg Ingram thing, no matter how mild, and yes true, her Tweet was, does in some small way illustrate this. She was counting Coup more than fighting.

If a friends kid called me a "pathetic f***er" etc. I think he should be corrected, even ridiculed. I hope though, I would stop short of calling him pinch faced Nancy boy who will likely never reproduce.

I am likely wrong this particular instance is where a line should be drawn. I do think we need to start thinking about where to draw them.

Thanks for Humoring me. I gotta get back to work now and wont be able to respond for awhile.

JiB, never heard of anything that prevents bronchitis. Other than eating good food and moving in the sunshine (vitamin D).

I am all about increasing my immune surveillance now that I am getting old and all my misspent youth in the summer sun catching up with me, so if I figure that out, I'll share it.

Don't tell anonamom, but I am cheatin' on my diet today.

Oh, and regarding the number of households, I can’t tell you the number of people I have mentored to get CC permits and handle themselves comfortably and safely.

As far as any decline, I would expect those to be libs oblivious to the lessons of history. If you are going to be foolish, you shouldn’t have such things in your hands anyway.

Yes, best wishes to mrs. sbw.

And now all 15 have shown up for Easter brunch. SYL

David, Deplorable Russian Internet Dreamer Bot

I am posting this because it is Easter.

Today is Easter Sunday, when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. However, Christ was not just the redeemer of the world, he was a pioneer in other ways also. Tacitus, the Roman historian, tells us:

And the Gallilean's followers gathered at the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. It was the beginning of the fourth lunar month. They were dismayed to find the sarcophagus still sealed, and when they rolled away the stone, the body lay as it had been placed after death. They began to wail and mourn, "He should have risen from the dead!" Then the Christ sat up from his slab and said, "Surprise! Fooled you!" And thus was born April Fool's jokes.

Funny how that bit never made it into the New Testament accounts of the resurrection.
