It was an unstable power grid before the hurricane. The generating plants were huge sieves of corruption and pay-to-play procurements. The money for maintainability went into individuals pockests. The transmission and distribution systems were "ditto the above".

Now trying to restore it with better equipment, more stable transmission and distribution in a very mountainous, remote environment creates your own disruptions out of necessity to install everything and test it. My associates and I consulted for the current governor's father, Pedro, when he was elected Governor back in '93 and told him he needed to fix it then. Crickets!

Many stories today about Pauline "Robin" Bush, W's little sister, who died at age 3 of leukemia.

There were very few stories in the MSM about Robin when Bush was a candidate in 2000 and 2004, or during his presidency. Most Americans probably learned about her yesterday or today.

That may have been out of respect for the family - perhaps the Bushes even requested it.

When I read her book she told the story of hearing W tell his friends he couldn't play because he had to stay with his sad mom.

My personal opinion of W, whom I supported fiercely during his 2 campaigns, is a bit different looking back on it. I think he was gullible and deferred too much to guys who had been friends of his dad's or who had been in DC a long time. I don't think he really understood the money that was swirling around, nor the creepiness of some of those people.
