I think this is worth bring forward from the previous blog.

The Kennedy betrayal at the Bay of Pigs was worse than described.

How many people know that the Bay of Pigs was not the original landing site.

The original location for the landing was the city of Trinidad, which was in hilly/mountainous terrain, and close to a possible refuge and base of operations - the Escambray mountains.

Kennedy vetoed Trinidad and the Bay of Pigs was selected. A remote swampy area on the southern coast of Cuba, where a night landing might bring a force ashore against little resistance and help to hide any U.S. involvement. The Bay of Pigs was 80 miles away from the Escambray mountains.

I wonder how much more of the Kennedy Library information is not quite correct (Leaving out Trinidad option).

More information can be found at:

Site change called fatal to invasion, The Miami Herald, January 5, 1997.

"Landing at the Bay of Pigs could not possibly succeed and was going to end in disaster. That's the word I used." BAY OF PIGS PLANNER: Retired Col. Jack Hawkins. Invasion planning chief.

From the last thread:Thomas Wictor discusses the number of Brits who are telling him he is wrong about how Alfie Evans was treated.

I've noticed how people from other countries almost reflexively defend their f-ed up health care systems. Part of it is just a reaction to external criticism--they know it stinks, but they don't want Americans criticizing them.

Still, the Brits voted for Brexit, and Farage was on the other day fuming about the Alfie Evans case. So it's similar to what's going on here. There's a lot of opposition to the Deep State.

Another thought on Tom Brokaw...

After the Boston Marathon jihad, we got this from Tom Brokaw:

From Meet the Press 4-21-13 - "He (Brokaw) said Americans need to take a hard look at “the roots” of why so many Muslims, including Americanized terrorists like the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston, want to kill them."

Americans are attacked & killed & Brokaw thinks those that were attacked need to examine why the murderers hate them.

So now he is being "attacked" (his words) & accused....& his go-to is to say Linda Vester has "no distinctive credentials" & she "married a wealthy man...".

"She has unleashed a torrent of unsubstantiated criticism and attacks on me ..."

Maybe ol' Tom needs to take a hard look at “the roots” of why 2 women are accusing him of sexual harassment.

When I uninvited Donald Trump from the RedState Gathering in 2015, I got death threats, harassment, and also saw the more than 30,000 people unsubscribe from the daily email I was sending at the time. That 30,000 came in only a few weeks.

After saying that I could not support the man for President, I pretty much ensured my days filling in on national talk radio were over for the time being. But not only that, it also played a part in disrupting my career advancement in talk radio to some degree. My bosses were quite worried about my own show, which is significant given its time slot. A few things that seemed just on the horizon have disappeared for now. Thankfully, though, God was watching over me and I’m actually in a stronger position now than before. More on that in a minute.

Over the course of the campaign in 2016, we had people show up at our home to threaten us. We had armed guards at the house for a while. My kids were harassed in the store. More than once they came home in tears because other kids were telling them I was going to get killed or that their parents hated me. I got yelled at in the Atlanta airport while peeing by some angry Trump supporter.

We got harassed in church and stopped going for a while. A woman in a Bible study told my wife she wanted to slap me across the face My seminary got calls from people demanding I be expelled. And on and on it went. When I nearly died in 2016, I got notes from people upset I was still alive. When I announced my wife had an incurable form of lung cancer, some cheered. All were directed from supposedly evangelical Trump supporters convinced God was punishing me for not siding with his chosen one. For a while, given the nature of what we were getting in the mail, my kids had to stop checking it.

When my Fox contract came up, not only did I not want to stay, but Fox made clear they had no use for me. I had jumped from CNN to Fox with a number of promises made, none of which were kept and then wound up hardly ever getting on. After saying I could not support Trump, the purpose of my Fox contract became more about keeping me off anyone’s television screen than putting me on. When I did go on in 2016, I frequently found myself getting called a traitor by some Trump humping celebrity. After the election, that stopped, but most of my appearances did too except from a few kind producers with whom I had become friends.

I have no TV contract now and have literally been on more in the past three three months than in the past year at Fox, though all of it unpaid. Of course, much of the rest of the media prefers Republicans who will only blast the GOP and I don’t do that anymore than mindlessly praise Trump.

Kanye West In New Song: Black People Still Aren’t ‘Off The Plantation’ Of Being Democrats

Rap star Kanye West says in a new song that black Americans still aren’t “off the plantation” of thinking they must be Democrats.

West says, “That’s the problem with this damn nation, all blacks gotta be Democrats, man, we ain’t made it off the plantation.”

This lyric is part of an upcoming song he has with rap artist T.I. called “Ye vs. The People.”

That's gotta sting.

And she went there, too...

Kathy Barnette: Kanye gets it. Just because I'm black don't assume I'm a Democrat

When she was first lady in 2014, Michelle Obama said on TV One, a predominately black television channel: “It’s not about the person on that ballot – it’s about you. And for most of the people we’re talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on regardless of who said what or did this, that shouldn’t even come into the equation.”

Meaning that if you’re black, you must vote Democratic. Don’t ask questions. Just fall in line and do what you’re told. To me, this is offensive. My vote is worth fighting over.

But it reminded me that not all overseers on slave plantations were white. There were black overseers as well. They were called drivers and their job was the same as the white overseer – to keep black folks in line.

We have black overseers among us today. They don’t care about the very real and systematic problems that are plaguing the black community. Democrats benefit when they can keep blacks voting as a block. Democrats benefit when they can keep blacks moving based on emotions instead of logic.

First of all, I think President Trump meant that it was tough for him to watch too much due to time constraints.

Secondly, and this is why I posted this link, it reminds me of something that happened right after Benghazi and was discussed on ce of Spades. Maybe Captain Hate will remember and add to my recollection.

Right after Benghazi, the FBI was sent over there to collect evidence. (I am not sure WHY they were ordered to do that, but they sent a team.)

However, CNN had a crew in the area and they got their first. They happened to find Ambassador Stephens diary, and brought it back to the US and apparently turned it over to the family.

Reines went ballistic and carried on about this, charging that CNN had tampered with evidence, should have turned it over to the FBI, and such. He also accused CNN of passing it around to each other and reading it. He made quite a spetacle of himself on Twitter and in other places.

I have always wonderd 2 things:

1. Why was Stepehens carrying a diary to what should have been a temporary visit to a consulate?

2. Why was Reines so upset about this? What was he afraid people would read in the diary?

Reines was a deputy to Clinton and a true Clintonista. I have paid attention to his actions ever since.

There is an essential insight that both never trump and pro-trump people get but don’t really process. A lot of GOP voters love Trump and support his platform. A lot of the GOP elite don’t like Trump or his platform. This explains:

Why so many GOP reps (including Ryan) are quitting;

Why publishers in the money making business are chucking a viewpoint that has no appeal to subscribers.

Ryan, as an example, really is devoted to financial issues and entitlement reform. Trump got a pretty good tax bill passed, and has now moved on to other issues that just aren’t his passion. Since the GOP really isn’t his party anymore, why should he stay?

As with patterico and other red state people —they were purged. So what? The Republican Party is now mostly happily Trump. What place does patterico have in “Red State”? Which is an explicitly Republican site?

Frankly, the deepest disappointment of 2017 and 2018 is the complete evaporation of any thought there could or should be a third party, which unites the idea that an ever expanding government stinks with some degree of live and let live in society.

Trump can’t complain that he wasn’t warned about Flynn before hiring him, because Obama did warn him, and not just because of Obama’s problems with Flynn at DNI, but also because of concerns about his ties with Russia.

Obama warned Trump about Flynn during their Oval Office meeting on November 10, days after Trump was elected president.

“Given the importance of the job, the President through there were better people for it, and that Flynn wasn’t up for the job,” a former senior Obama administration official told CNN Monday.

[snip]

But at least one former Obama official disputed that, saying Obama’s concerns were not related to the firing of Flynn from the Defense Intelligence Agency but rather in the course of the investigation into Russian interference into the 2016 election.

“Flynn’s name kept popping up,” according to a senior Obama administration source.

In other words, in the one case where we know Trump knew of a tie between a top aide and Russia, he hired the person anyway. And then ordered him to reach out to the Russians to undercut Obama’s policies..

Boy, Andy McCarthy sure does have great respect and affection for Jim Comey and Patrick Fitzgerald, and Comey's leak buddy , Dan Richmond. Comey Confirms: In Clinton Emails Caper, the Fix Was In

Before we turn first to leaking, some disclosure. I am fond of Jim Comey and have been for 30 years. I vigorously disagree with both his handling of the Clinton emails investigation and the manner in which the FBI has conducted what is supposed to be a classified, counterintelligence probe of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election — not a public, government-orchestrated campaign of insinuation that Trump was complicit in Russian perfidy.

No doubt because of my personal regard for him and respect for his high-end ability, I am inclined to cut the former director slack. He was thrust into a no-win situation: It is not his fault that Democrats nominated a criminal suspect, or that Republicans nominated an irregular politician heedless of the norms of discretion and distance that a president should maintain when dealing with his law-enforcement subordinates. Comey aside, I had no better friends in nearly 20 years as a federal prosecutor in New York than Dan Richman, the Columbia Law School prof through whom Comey transmitted information to the New York Times, and Pat Fitzgerald and Dave Kelley, Comey’s lawyers. These aren’t just former colleagues of mine; they are old friends. I haven’t tried to speak to any of them about this matter, but my esteem for them weighs on me — as does my duty to be an honest analyst. How well I resolve that tension is not for me to say; I can just tell you it is real.

And I do not buy for one second that Comey was thrust into a no win situation. Bullshit. He had the opportunity to do the right thing at the right time and he utterly failed to step up to the plate and do the right thing. Comey is the smallest 6 foot 8 man on the planet and if McCarthy can't see that he's a fool with blinders on.

The surprise move by President Kim Jong Un may be an attempt to ease relations prior to a summit with Donald Trump, but a new reports suggests the collapse of North Korea’s test facility may have been a contributing factor. Geologists at the University of Science and Technology of China have presented evidence suggesting the mountain directly above North Korea’s Punggye-ri nuclear test site has collapsed, reports the Associated Press. The incident happened following the September 3, 2017 detonation of a nuclear bomb estimated at around 100 kilotons, which is 10 times stronger than any of the previous five tests conducted by North Korea. By comparison, the bomb used at Hiroshima in 1945 produced about 15 kilotons of explosive power..

Special concern to China

North Korea’s nuclear tests are of special concern to China; the test site is less than 100 kilometers from the China-North Korea border.

North Korean nuclear tests have caused seismic events in Chinese border towns and cities. The explosions have led to evacuations of schools and offices, and fears of wind-carried radiation.

Chinese officials have said they have not measured any radiation risk from recent samples collected along the China-North Korea border.

Relations between China and North Korea have been worsening. Last month, North Korean President Kim Jong Un made a visit to Beijing, after Chinese officials put United Nations economic sanctions against the North in place. The sanctions reduced trade between the two countries by as much as 90 percent.

On Saturday, North Korea announced it would close its nuclear testing site and suspend nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile tests. U.S. President Donald Trump called the moves “big progress.”

However, the North did not say whether it would give up its nuclear weapons or limit its production of missiles and their related parts.

Comey said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he considers the report, issued Friday by Republicans, to be a “political document.” He says the most important investigation is being done by special counsel Robert Mueller.

He says his understanding of the facts at the time of his firing last May don’t support President Donald Trump’s assertion that there’s zero evidence of collusion and that the Russia investigation is a hoax.

"If anyone was not convinced of former FBI director Jim Comey's involvement in the attempted coup from within our own government of the duly elected winner of the 2016 Presidential election, I have just one question for you: Are you stupid?"

Meanwhile, as James Comey floats around peddling his new book, A Higher Loyalty, and trash-talking the House Intel Committee's findings, he's currently subject to two criminal referrals and a battle brewing with his former Deputy, Andy McCabe, over who's lying in regards to illegal leaks to the New York Times.

Could it be that Comey's boyscoutish charm is starting to wear thin?

"And I do not buy for one second that Comey was thrust into a no win situation."

Daddy,

I have no idea but I suspect everything changed under the obama administration. I suspect integrity never mattered and all those involved loosened the chains of honesty. I don't think McCarthy has worked with any of those people since before that time. And that is why their current behavior is a bit mystifying to good ole Andy.
