Knowing what we know now about the criminal corruption within the Obama administration, does anyone believe it is within the realm of possibility that someone in the FBI/DOJ ordered Felix Sater, a convicted felon and FBI confidential informant, to write that email to Michael Cohen with the intent to use it as “evidence” of collusion between Trump and the Russian government?
Take with appropriate grains of salt, but a campaign source says Trump already has Rosenstein's termination letter ready to go, only decision is before or after Nunes gets the contempt citation on him.
I'm not sure what that accomplishes unless we know who takes over supervising Mueller.

were the drivers Russian, or at least vaguely Slavic, or did they have a few Russian customers?
The taxi medallion at one time, before Uber and Lyft, sold for over a million apiece. Latest sales seem to be at around two hundred thousand. Banks that specialized in the loan business for the medallions have taken a bath the last few years with only the medallion for collateral. From what I've read the loans had twenty year amortization rates, but were re-negotiated every few years. That could be balloon mortgages. I'm sure that they had as many stupid loan structures as the housing market used to have.
I don't know how many medallions Cohen held, but that could be the source of the bank and tax frauds alleged. Some of the "tax fraud" might have been "inherited", so to speak, from the taxi-king machinations. Some of the "bank fraud" might also be related to the medallions. May be collateral related.
I presume Stormy Daniels' lawyer has also offered up dirt, true or false, about Cohen to Mueller.
I don't like the idea of a raid. I think the MSM has mis-characterized what occurred. The FBI showed up with subpoenas and executed them.
This may have nothing to do with Trump, unless they are trying to "flip" Cohen.

I agree Narciso, we need to take down Trump because of the MEDALLIONS.
I didn't know that the SECRETARY of STATE could BLEACH BIT her ILLEGAL PRIVATE SERVER, ACID WASH IT, refuse to comply with a SUBPOENA for her e-mails, and tell AMERICA that she complied with the the law.....LIKE WITH A CLOTH.
Lets talk about NYC cab medallions. I mean the SANCTITY of our ELECTIONS, requires us to SHIT on the SANCTITY of our ELECTIONS, and the CORRUPT CRIMINALS at the FBI are not held accountable.
"It is unclear exactly why the New York investigators are examining the payments. But critics of the president have claimed that they amount to illegal campaign contributions because they helped Mr. Trump win the White House by suppressing politically damaging stories. [regarding Daniels and McDougal]"
"The F.B.I. also searched for records related to Mr. Cohen’s New York taxicab business, apparently a separate line of inquiry unrelated to Mr. Trump. Mr. Cohen is a longtime owner of taxi medallions, at one point operating a fleet of more than 200 cabs in Manhattan."
200 cabs? Each cab requires a medallion. Cohen isn't just a lawyer. He's a business man. That could mean the "tax fraud" is just two differing applications of tax law. That can be adjudicated in tax court instead of criminal court.
The two women getting the payoffs. Campaign finance transgressions. How about blackmail and extortion, when they got higher offers from somebody else to tell their true (or false) stories.
Even as a layman I understand that the scope of subpoenas can be challenged after being served. Cohen's lawyer should fire on all cylinders to reduce the scope of the subpoenas, who handles vetting them for inadmissible evidence, etc.
Maybe so, seeing as I kicked off KJOM before you got here.... with something sooooothing, but never mind. If we're not in the mood for mellow, there's always 4Minute Crazy or for the xenophobic, which anyone in the Trump camp just obviously must be, its American equivalent, Bang Bang.

Seriously have Mr. Prince end this dialogue. If it was Khuzaimi who led the operation, hes the one who went after fab 'milly vavanilli' tourice and practically no one else in the sub prime cartel.
If your source says that the Cohen raid was all about the tax fraud surrounding Cohen's taxi business and had absolutely nothing to do with Trump, then why is Trump wanting to fire Rosenstein now when Rosenstein followed the law by referring the case to a US Attorney?
The taxi surcharge was meant to be sent to Albany to support mass transit. Not forwarding a mandated tax would be illegal. If the taxi-king was doing the same thing for any cabs he managed outside of his own ownership, the medallion holders would ultimately be responsible for the taxes. If the state of NY couldn't collect from the taxi-king. They would definitely go after the other owners.
I'm not sure how many medallions can be owned by one individual. If I owned more than one, each would be held by an LLC, so people wouldn't be able to go after my whole fleet in one lawsuit.
Yes, one medallion, one cab. A medallion can't be used for a fleet. That cab can be used 24 hrs. per day though, so three shifts of drivers.
Iggy,
Right search warrants, not subpoenas. The search warrants would be specific about the subject of what could be taken. That can be argued about after the seizure.
Afraid I've got to call steal away, because I've got to be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow, but One of These Nights, I'll manage to stick around for the late, late show! I recommend skipping the music video on this one, but the close harmonies are nice.
My thinking, so far, is if you're an LEO doing an investigation, and you find some wrong doing unrelated to what you're after, you don't ignore it, you pass it on to someone else. You would be remiss to just drop it.
You'd want somebody else to investigate further rather than just leave it alone. If Mueller found something unrelated to his main inquiry, he was right to pass it on. Anything after that is not Mueller's problem. If someone then saw some valid reason to go after Cohen, so be it. That doesn't mean he is guilty of anything. That is still to be litigated.
Whatever, it doesn't look good for either Mueller or Trump. The first implies that Mueller is out of control. The second implies that Cohen might know something about Trump that isn't currently known.
My current thinking is that neither is the case. Further, I don't think the MSM knows what is really going on, just endless speculation. And what Trump is planning to do about it is just guessing.
This is 4D chess or checkers. I currently don't care about what people think Trump will do. He'll do what he thinks serves his and the country's best interests. We can talk about what he does next, when he does something.
always great to see you J, hope your travels are well. I took a screen cap when you got all 10 in the recent posts when were talking during the Curiosity landing.
BTW here is what happens if Rosenstein doesn’t follow the law and refer Cohen’s case to a US Attorney. Some Democrat working on Mueller’s team leaks to the media that there is evidence Cohen committed tax fraud but Rosenstein covered it up because Cohen is Trump’s personal attor WH. Cohen’s alledged criminal activity was going to get made public eventually. This way is ethically better for Trump.
Man, I really hated the JOM website being down last night. I would have been just as pissed as everyone else with the day's news, but having a day more to think about it and do some research calmed me down a little.
It's still an ugly incident. Doesn't look good for Mueller from our point of view. If you're a Libtard (thanks, Gus, for a word I've never used before) you can see that the noose is tightening. Thus the influx of trolls trying to discourage us.
And, Trump, is he really pissed off, or still playing his part. He's gonna fire this person, or that person, aides are trying to talk him off the cliff. Is this real, or just play-acting?
Exactly, if Mueller found something, his staff knew about it too. Some probably wanted to go after it themselves. Mueller reports up and it's taken away from his staff.
If he had done nothing the staff would have leaked.

this is partly true and partly false ... if the scope is broad enough then yes it is passed on, but if the scope is not it, shouldn't and usually isn't. When NYPD and the FBI took down Weiner-in a sex sting-they didn't even do that.

"BEIRUT (Reuters) - Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon has said any U.S. missiles fired at Syria would be shot down and the launch sites targeted.
Alexander Zasypkin, in the comments broadcast on Tuesday evening, said he was referring to a statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian chief of staff.
“If there is a strike by the Americans then ... the missiles will be downed and even the sources from which the missiles were fired,” he told Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV."
This is an incredible statement to come from a Russian diplomat.
Russia will defend against American missile launches into Syria and counter-strike against the source of the strikes?
That's a declaration of war. Did he consult with Moscow before making that statement?
If so, any means of counter attack against the US is now a legitimate first strike for planning purposes.
Do they really want a direct engagement? Are they telling us that their airbase is now a legitimate first strike target?
If so, I say go for it. And if another Russian plane buzzes a US Navy ship at close range, shoot it down.
Yes, you can repair your own device without voiding the warranty. Yes, you can use printer cartridges not made by the manufacturers and not void your warranty.
As a sixty something year old, she's hot. And she's got a gun. I'd do anything she told me to do. I like decisive women. I like strong-willed women. Wouldn't know what to do without their guidance.
I'm obviously over-posting, but I really missed not being able to post last night.
So back to Syria, do we launch a massive strike to bounce the rubble where the chemical weapons are or were?
That seems useless. A massive strike on nothing? Yeah, that will impress people, right?
So I assume something else is the target. We'd want it to be big. We'd want it to impress everyone we're negotiating with.
Shock and awe. I realize that term is discredited. But if we don't do something awesome we look useless.
Bouncing rubble makes us look weak and ineffectual. Weakens us in all international negotiations.
So I think we're aiming bigger. Much bigger.
Do we want to bounce rubble, or go for a game-changer.
What's the biggest possible game-changer? That Russian airbase. And Iranian and Hezbollah concentrations.
The Russians have already announced they will shoot our missiles down and counter-strike. In my opinion they have invited an attack and we should take them up on their challenge.
Fascinating, and very very cool. Thanks for posting that as a huge Roman, but as an even huger Darwin fan this bit caught my imagination even more:
From your link: The story began on the coast of Libya in 1816. A British officer, Colonel Hanmer Warrington, visited the Roman ruins of Leptis Magna with artist Augustus Earle.
The sight struck them both. Earle even painted this watercolour, showing the sand dunes rolling over the stones.
So who is Augustus Earle, and why does his name ring a bell for me?
Because Augustus Earle is the Artist that Capt Fitzroy decided to bring along on the HMS Beagle, along with that kid with the big nose, Chuck Darwin, that had just graduated from Christ's College,Cambridge, as a budding Naturalist/Theologian a few months earlier. So Capt Fitzroy, in a matter of weeks, selected both Conrad Earle and Charles Darwin, and the rest is history.
Earle took sick earlier, down in Brazil territory, and was replaced by my favorite Beagle Artist, Conrad Martins, whom I think with his thrilling views of the Beagle immortalized them as we remember them today
I always keep an eye out for archaeology stories because I have had a long fascination with it myself and I am pleased to know someone else who enjoys reading about it, as well.
If you had flown into town yesterday, you would have faced snow, but today it's supposed to be warmer. Slightly.

Battleground prep for the MFM tenor - 'Trump & his team are corrupt crooks!'.

This article was at Daily Mail 2 days ago - "How future FBI Director James Comey was a cocky college journalist who tackled issues like race and campus rape, but mocked the attractiveness of women at Harvard"
"Comey wrote an entire series about diversity at William & Mary and called on his school to admit more black students to the Virginia university campus"
Whatever, it doesn't look good for either Mueller or Trump. The first implies that Mueller is out of control. The second implies that Cohen might know something about Trump that isn't currently known.
I doubt that the second part bothers that many people because it doesn't bother me, although I'm so out of step most of the time that maybe that's not the case. Anyway I automatically assume that lawyers know things about their clients that I don't just due to the nature of what they do. Most of it would be boring crap which I couldn't care less about although David Kendall or whichever ambulance chasing shitstain defended Slick probably knows just what perverted scum that hilljack trash is although the brightest son of a whore from Hope, Arkansas probably lies to him too.
Given what I saw yesterday in clips, other than Senator Crux, this is about how the questioning went.
What a fucking embarrassing spectacle that whole charade was. A bunch of clueless dimwits trying, and failing miserably, to look like a bunch of smarty pants. I'm glad Huckabee, who has really risen in my esteem over the last couple years, is jabbing those gasbags who all need to be sent to an assisted living facility, but a really bad one because fuck them.
This thing with Cohen seems like another case of overreach, like Manafort: A bogus charge with no probable cause whatsoever (Russian collusion) gives the FBI open season to go on a fishing expedition through the entire possessions, business, and financial records of anyone remotely connected to anyone remotely connected to the Trump campaign or to Trump. (That sentence isn't a typo, I meant double remoteness.)
Inevitably some completely unrelated irregularity or possible wrongdoing or mistake is discovered (who among us is entirely flawless), and the arrests begin. I would love to see Mueller and his family and associates subject to the same treatment, and see if they could come through unscathed.
It doesn't seem right to me, even if Manafort and Cohen are technically guilty of something. It's the old "If you're innocent you don't have anything to worry about," BS to justify the government snooping on anyone and everyone.

Another Bob, I was just looking into the taxi medallion thingy, see below.
https://nypost.com/2017/04/06/taxi-king-no-longer-allowed-to-manage-hundreds-of-medallions/
https://nypost.com/2017/06/07/taxi-king-arrested-for-scamming-the-state-for-millions/
The above taxi-king "may" (I think did, but want to quantify some uncertainty) have managed the taxi medallions mentioned in the article below.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/382482-fbi-search-warrant-on-cohen-inquired-into-taxi-medallion-ownership

THIS SHIT IS ABSURD.

Pull quote from NYTimes:

Narcisco,
The taxi surcharge was meant to be sent to Albany to support mass transit.

Mueller reports up and it's taken away from his staff.

this is partly true and partly false ... if the scope is broad enough then yes it is passed on, but if the scope is not it, shouldn't and usually isn't. I'll give you Manafort-TK (and I think narciso) have made a decent enough argument that he was trolling to enrich himself by virtue of his position in the campaign at the time. If Cohen had a problem with NYC taxi medallions let NY and NYC take care of it. No need for a FBI house warming party carrying off all his electronic devices. When NYPD and the FBI took down Weiner-in a sex sting-they didn't even do that.

[I think Manafort is not worth defending. You seem to agree. I agree Cohen and his taxi issues are a NYS problem, unless it affects his US tax returns. But that should go before a tax court first, not a criminal court. They can argue about whether his tax strategy was legal or not. It doesn't mean he committed fraud.]
[on investigating further into Cohen]
Not necessarily. Scope. Digging up nearly decade old tax and paperwork problems just to get someone to say "I ordered up the Russian bots" looks to me like Ahab nailing the gold coin to the mast.
[Agreed. I don't think they had to do a lot of digging.]
[On going after Cohen]
How many other clients does Cohen have? OL mentioned this ...
[If I was a client I would be worried about that.]

[That would make my teeth itch too. But putting ethics and lawyers in the same sentence is oxymoronic. I'm sure that most lawyers are ethical, but learn well what to do when their opponents aren't. Why fight fair when the other side is cheating?]
I'm in the Glenn Reynold's school of thought in that police and prosecutors shouldn't have immunity. Civilians don't. I have no way to judge Mueller's ethics, but I assume he's learned every trick in the book.]

Miss Marple,
On catch-up, following Kilroy's last call back in my Indy Hotel Room, I just got to your 08:45 PM from the previous thread, on How the Roman Temple of Augustus came to be in Windsor, England.
The Art of the Beagle – Augustus Earle:
Earle took sick earlier, down in Brazil territory, and was replaced by my favorite Beagle Artist, Conrad Martins, whom I think with his thrilling views of the Beagle immortalized them as we remember them today
Posted by: daddy | April 11, 2018 at 04:59 AM
Good morning!
daddy, What a coincidence about the artist!
I always keep an eye out for archaeology stories because I have had a long fascination with it myself and I am pleased to know someone else who enjoys reading about it, as well.
If you had flown into town yesterday, you would have faced snow, but today it's supposed to be warmer. Slightly.
Yesterday o Twitter I was following Joe Bastardi and he thinks we will be cold through the rest of the month, with a temporary warm up followed by another wave of cold coming in quickly, with my personal favorite, the risk of tornadoes. Ugh.
Usually by this time we are mowing grass and putting out the hardier annuals. Right now it still looks like February outside. Very depressing weather.

Day 2 for Zuckerberg w/ more TUFF questions like "What's the name of your cat?" "Are your t-shirts Fruit of the Loom" "Do you like vanilla ice cream?" "If you were a tree, what kind would you be?" Cmon! Demand why FB filters conservative speech and picks "friends" for us!
================================
Given what I saw yesterday in clips, other than Senator Crux, this is about how the questioning went.

Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!

This should set some hair on fire this morning. LOL!
I am thinking this is a distraction while something else is going on.

All of your threads are effectively open threads, but then you allow it. Some of your most prolific posters pay not the slightest attention to the putative topic of any thread.

I was right about that last tweet. My Twitter page has exploded with re-tweets and comments.

I couldn't tell at first if the wonders of California was parody or not.

Speculation...
Maybe the raid was timed to happen before Comey's book release & media blitz?
Battleground prep for the MFM tenor - 'Trump & his team are corrupt crooks!'.
vs...the wonderful FBI team....

Battleground prep.

Today at the WH: Pres Trump has a bill-signing this morning of a bill to combate online sex trafficking. It imposes a federal fine or prison term of up to 10 years on those using the Internet or other advertising to facilitate prostitution.

Exactly, jimmyk.
It also is a warning to anyone that would think of working for Trump & his team.
We will harass the crap outta you & ruin you!
