Seems to me an Article V convention is a useful last chance before hte shooting starts.

Hillary to remove ‘wife’ from Twitter bio after quizzed by feminist writer

While addressing the World Voices Festival on Sunday, Hillary was quizzed about “the fact that ‘wife’ comes first in @HillaryClinton‘s Twitter bio whereas the same order does not apply to her husband,” attendee Jazmin Kay reports.

“Well, when you put it like that, I’m going to change it,” she reportedly responded to feminist writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

As of Sunday evening, Clinton’s Twitter bio hadn’t changed:

[it says "wife, mother, blah blah blah"]

“For anyone who thinks our country is invulnerable to propaganda, or attempts to suppress free expression, you only have to look at the 2016 election, which was a case study in the weaponization of false information and outright lies against our democracy,” Clinton said dramatically.

“We now know that Russian agents used Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube — even Pinterest,” she continued, botching the pronunciation.

The crowd broke out into laughs.

“I’m still trying to figure that one out,” she said.

“But they used these very well-trafficked sites to place targeted attack ads and negative stories intended not only to hurt me, but more importantly — and lastingly — to fan the flames of division within our society,” Clinton said, citing posts advocating for gun rights and Black Lives Matter.

Dave (in MA)

Taylor was in the service for 20 years, part of which was in special forces, and his Pike Logan books are not unlike Thor's Scot Harvath series. I liked both series quite a bit, but Thor's Pattericoesque anti-Trumpism made me lose interest.

Brad Thor has had me blocked on Twitter for over 2 years, over some disagreement I can't even remember. When I disagree with someone on Twitter, I am always polite, especially to an author whose books I USED to read.

"“We now know that Russian agents used Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube — even Pinterest,” she continued, botching the pronunciation."

Over a period of months, in numerous casual conversations, with both Dem and Repub leaning people, with both high and low info voters, I have yet to find a SINGLE person whose vote was affected by Russian ads.

Cap'n, if you're reading, can you please help my Monday morning brain by pointing me to the Ace thread you mentioned where they're savaging Thor?

NYT Repents for Sin of Covering Hillary’s Leaked E-Mails

But it wasn’t a scoop. It was more like a bank heist.

Editors and reporters huddled to discuss how to handle the emails. Everyone agreed that since the emails were already out there -- and of importance to voters -- it was The Times’s job to “confirm” and “contextualize” them. I didn’t argue that it appeared the emails were stolen by a hostile foreign government that had staged an attack on our electoral system. I didn’t push to hold off on publishing them until we could have a less harried discussion. I didn’t raise the possibility that we’d become puppets in Vladimir Putin’s master plan. I chose the byline.

In December, after the election, my colleagues in Washington wrote a Pulitzer-winning article about how the Russians had pulled off the perfect hack....

The Bernie Bros and Mr. Trump’s Twitter trolls had called me a donkey-faced whore and a Hillary shill, but nothing hurt worse than my own colleagues calling me a de facto instrument of Russian intelligence. The worst part was, they were right.

"Nobody has answered how Hannity gets restitution."

How does calling an Article V convention do that? Even if you could word an amendment that would, you can't charge someone with a crime retrospectively.

Once you start tailoring amendments to specific cases, you're really talking about needing new law (whether there is one sufficient to the task already in place, I do not know). The purpose (and the genius) of Amendments is that they enshrine constitutional principles which are to be applied across the board.

MM and Clarice.

I don't think a constitutional convention would work out as most think In fact, it probably falls right into the ratbags area. Unfortunately, they are just too good at organizing.

While I am ranting. I think we dodged a bullet when Trump was elected. Trump ran a good campaign and most Dems were fooled by their own propaganda and that of the fawning media.

The ratbags are on guard now and all the dirty tricks will be used too win back congress and then the presidency.

clarice feldman

You might point them to the Constitution and the stature under which Mueller was appointed, but heck, that would be too easy. The only means of punishing a president for law breaking is impeachment, The only thing Mueller can do (under a different statutre under which Starr operated) is prosecute or not and file a confidential report with the ag.

The other side has already started, Appalled. Surely you know that.

I realize that alarms you and you think it's hyperbole, but you really should start paying attention to the mob actions the democrats are encouraging, as well as the mental illness prevalent on social media.

At some point people aren't going to stand patiently by (like the unfortunate Starbucks employee pictured in several posts) while people harass them and damage their property.

The democrats and the mainstream media have encouraged and fomented hysteria among a large portion of the public, and these people aren't rational. It is a dangerous time. (I don't own a gun due to clumsiness; I have 3 dogs and a large shovel to thwack people with.)

fdcol63 on the last thread:
1) The main problem we have now is non-enforcement and non-compliance with the US Constitution.

Passing new amendments won't help that.

I'm not so sure. I have concerns about ripping up the Constitution and starting from scratch, but an Amendment that clearly and drastically reduces the ability of black-robed tyrants to run roughshod over voters and legislatures would be welcome. You'd have to convince me that cannot be done via amendment. For example, the whole idea of judicial review is not even in the Constitution, so it would not be hard to narrow it by clarifying exactly what the limits are in an amendment.

Okay, clarice. Don't forget flocks and flocks of hummingbirds flitting in and out among the orchids.

The Constitution can be amended to limit legal review -- I believe Teddy Roosevelt actually argued for something like that back in 1912. Thing is -- passing an amendment to do that would be as hard as amending the 2nd amendment out of the Constitution.

Really, so much of the governmental dysfunction we have now is attributable to Congress handing off large pieces of its job to the Executive, to the Judiciary, and to the regulators. A Convention does not keep a future Congress from continuing to do that, and nothing keeps a reinvigorated Right from insisting that the people it elects take some of those things back through passing some laws.

I saw this from the Tablet article linked on the previous thread.

Yet in 2018, isolationist sentiment and anti-Israel conspiracy theories have found homes on both ends of the ideological spectrum. As Charles Freeman, a former U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia who has spoken at Charles Koch Institute-sponsored events and is known for his denunciations of Israeli influence in Washington, commented: “In general I’m pretty much appalled by what those guys do but in this case it seems in the foreign policy realm they’re a useful antidote to militarism in Washington.”

I could subtitle it "Why I am not a Libertarian" (note the large L). For some reason Libertarians adopt isolationism, even though it doesn't follow from their basic principles. And then isolationism somehow lends itself to belief in the existence of a dark pro-Israel conspiracy, which in turn ends up aligning people like the Kochs with the anti-Israel left. Another case of Blair's Law.

In any case, AIPAC is about as "dark" as the NRA, CoC, or any of the other plainly visible and very active lobbying groups.

Analysis: The Mossad’s hi-tech Hamas hit-list
The Mossad has been accused by Hamas and some local Malaysians of assassinating Fadi Muhammad al-Batsh in a drive-by motorcycle shooting near a mosque in Malaysia on Saturday.

…Al-Batsh’s assassination, if it was carried out by the Mossad, could very well line up with the December 15, 2016, assassination in Tunis of Muhammad al-Zawari – also credited by most to the Mossad.

Zawari was an aeronautical engineer who manufactured drones for Hamas, and possibly also for Hezbollah.

Reports from Tunis indicated that he also designed an unmanned naval vessel that could attack other sea vessels from under the water.

There have been hints according to foreign reports that the Mossad has had ongoing operations in Syria and Iran; it is routinely expected to be active in regions across the globe.

…The next most important question will be: Even if everyone points a finger at the Mossad, will there be real evidence and real footprints or will the main evidence be how untraceable the assassins were?

Presuming the operation in Tunis was done by the Mossad, the elite spy agency under Cohen showed that it has discovered how to pull off assassinations in an age where most everything seems to be caught on video.
