Appalled:
You have finally tipped your hand.
I disagree that President Trump will have any blowback from this Mueller witch hunt.
The Dems will struggle in the midterms because the real truth will be revealed this summer or fall.

Dave (in MA)

The latest nugget of wisdom from Psaki:

https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/293171/

Extraneus

It's not inflammatory, it's evidence-free fantasy. Fever-swamp grade mean-spirited silliness, in other words.

Mueller is giving the GOP Congress a choice? Impeach now or impeach later?

I know TM has linked empty wheel before, so I assume she's among the best they have. Pretty lame.

Appalled

Ext:

I was more struck by the similarity of Jack's prediction, and Emptywheel's than anything else. While I think this place has a better feel for the FBI shenanigans and the attendant rampant rights violations, I think she has a better feel for what Mueller is trying to do.

And it's always nice to see what the Treehouse is hoping. Even though it looks increasingly delusional.

Extraneus

My opinion is that Trump did not collude with Russia, and I doubt his staff did either.

Well, since you read that blog, I'll take that as verification that she hasn't produced any actual evidence. (Which of course we already knew.)

Seriously, if they had evidence of an "election conspiracy," what's the theory as to why we haven't seen it yet? Oh, that's right. They're planning to lay it out piece by piece in the run-up to the election.

Therefore, she's confirming that they assume that Mueller is attempting a coup, which is fine with them. The overthrow of an duly elected president whose tweets they don't like.

Where's my grenade launcher?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I still stand by my long-standing theory that Obama and Hillary conspired to frame Trump for either espionage or corrupt election practices AFTER HILLARY WON. Her loss set up a panic amongst all the conspiring parties as they had to come up with an excuse for why there were all of these memos, wire-taps, etc.

I just got done reading CTH's long discussion about Mueller being selected by the team under him, and this pretty much made sense to me, except I do think it's easier to understand everything that's gone on if you look at it the way I do.

It's not an unreasonable position, either, given that damning tweet by David Plouffe.

If I am correct, and if Trump came onto the information early (much as Tom R explained above) then it wasn't just that Comey wire tapped him, but that Comey was in on this attempt. It is also why Comey might have agreed to spill the beans in return for a future pardon.

THAT, however, is all theorizing, which means only that I can construct a narrative as well as the press.

I have patience and am optimistic, as I have yet to see Trump out-maneuvered. I think I am with Conrad Black on this.

Anyway, I think I will take a nap. I have done enough laundry for today.

Extraneus

And Mueller is also blackmailing the "GOP Congress."

Cool!

Tom Bowler

From an earlier comment by RG, this strikes me as the real deal:

Sundance's theory that the DOJ-NSD / FBI-CID cabal essentially selected Mueller works for me. Probably suggested Rosenstein, too. Both of them, however, have likely figured out the real deal by now. They were played. By the cabal, by the Clinton crowd, and by the Obama crowd.

But the jig is up.

They were not the only ones played. Others were had and they aren't happy about it.

I think MM linked CTH which linked the Senate Homeland Security Committee Interim Report where there is this very interesting bit of information:

The FBI’s conduct in relation to supplying the text messages between Strzok and Page only heightens concern about actions and intentions at the highest echelons of the FBI. The DOJ OIG obtained the initial batch of text messages on July 20, 2017. Upon review, the OIG informed Special Counsel Mueller about the inappropriate attitude exhibited in the text messages, which led to Strzok’s reassignment off the Special Counsel team on July 27, 2017.  Congress was not informed, and the Committee only learned of the text messages through news reports in early December—more than four months later.

July 20, 2017 is the date the IG received the first set of text messages between Strzok and Page. I think one or both of them learned about a month earlier how, as Sundance would put it, "just how screwed they were." From the end of that set of text messages there is this exchange on June 22, 2017:

Strzok: Bill told me about [redacted]. Does [redacted] know? And that board decision is a slap not only against [redacted] but aIso Andy.

Page: Yes, [redacted] told me.

Strzok: Damn. Was hoping Andy might overturn it. lt makes me SO mad. F this place.

Page: Well [redacted] heard from Carl, so I don't know if it went to Andy yet. Maybe so.

Strzok: lt sucks for [redacted] I want to call [redacted] but I'll wait [redacted].

There is a break in the messages. Then three days later on June 25th Page messages Strzok:

Page: Please don't ever text me again.

Up until that last text messages were all about career opportunities and saving the country. But when she sent that last one I think Page was aware at that moment just how screwed she was and how badly she had been taken in. The rising star, the FBI lawyer suddenly saw her brilliant career going into the toilet, to say nothing of what she has done to her family. It will be interesting to see what role she plays as we get closer to November, but I'm guessing there is going to be a fair measure of payback.

Tom R

TomR:
Sorry your theory, in my opinion strains credulity. No concrete evidence they are working together.

That's kinda the entire point of the Mueller White Hat theory. If there was concrete evidence that Mueller was actually working with Trump we wouldn't even be having this conversation. It would be the Trump haters screaming for Mueller to be fired and another SC appointed.

Trump wants moderate/independent voters to have full faith and confidence in Mueller. When Mueller then fully exonerates Trump it will pretty much ensure the Democrats suffer defeat in the 2018 midterms.

What convinces me that my position on The Ledge is the correct one is the increasing number of assumptions that have to be made to explain why that position is wrong.

RattlerGator

Good point, Tom Bowler.

(responding to an earlier comment by MaryRose)

No, MaryRose, the last thing we need is transparency right now.

We've got far too many people here screaming tell me what you have, tell me right freaking now !!!

This is stupid beyond belief. Embarrassingly stupid.

Anyone who has been involved in a criminal prosecution knows this instinctively.

The best thing working for us right now is confusion to our adversary. To hell with the impatience demonstrated here. It is meaningless. As is Wisconsin and what has occurred there. Scott Walker is essentially offering conventional Republican politics that wouldn't be out of line too much with the preferred approach by Paul Ryan.

Trump ain't doing that.

Sessions ain't doing that.

You see how Mick Mulvaney played Elizabeth Warren? Are any of y'all paying attention to that shiznit ??? If there weren't women on this board I'd graphically tell you what the hell he's doing to her right now. That's what this administration is doing to the deep state. Because they know how to exercise power SMARTLY.

Yeah, that means being vengeful and unsparing where needed. That means being patient and methodical and completely unconcerned with what YOU want them to do. Frankly, I suspect this administration looks at the Ledge somewhat similar to how most of us view juveniles in the grocery store pitching a hissy fit because they aren't getting what they want when they want it.

We have adults in charge building a slam dunk case on treasonous activity of a historical scale not seen in this country before, while managing an international re-set of equally historic importance.

And they show no signs of being swayed by all of this bitching and moaning. That pleases me to no end.

Why isn't Trump defending himself against the "obstruction of justice" charge?

He did.

I never asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn. Just more Fake News covering another Comey lie!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 3, 2017

Thanks for the tweet but IMO that's two different things. Correct me if my memory is wrong but I have always thought the basis for the "obstruction of justice" accusation was because of Comey's firing to stop him from investigating the Russian collusion claims.

My point about Trump not defending himself against the obstruction of justice charge is based on the Comey firing and not anything related to LTG Flynn.

James D.

KK @ 12:58

The problem I have with your analogy is that I'm not convinced all the guys on Trump's side of the ball are actually playing from the same playbook he is, or even for the same team.

Or, more accurately, I'm pretty much convinced they're playing for the other team.

Extraneus

You're right, there's also the Comey firing.

Imagine if Trump were indicted by Comey's friend and mentor for firing the sanctimonious dirty cop, who incidentally served at the so-called pleasure of the president.

That Interim Report on the Clinton Email Investigation that I linked above makes for interesting reading. The revelations we've had from the Strzok/Page text messages and the early drafts of Comey's exoneration of Clinton, months before she was interviewed, are seriously incriminating in my view.

The problem to be grappled with is Obama. If Hillary was guilty of "gross negligence" in handling classified information, Obama was too. He knew about her illegal server and did nothing about it. He emailed her on it. What to do about that? I'm sure many will argue that we can't have our historic president indicted. I'd be OK with it, but I can see where indicting him might permanently poison race relations.

Whatever happens to Obama, Hillary and a host of others like Clapper, Brennan, and Comey should face trial and prison at the very least. I don't know if it there is a case for treason, but this ongoing coup sure seems treasonous to me.

I am not going to speculate, but the Mueller investigation is getting long in the tooth and there have been no smoking guns so far. As CH has described, it seems to all be process indictments. And so what does a special prosecutor do when he realizes there is little to investigate? Not a word on Hillary and the Dem fiascos.

Clinton Server case

And crickets.

boatbuilder

MM--I'm a long way from you in terms of confidence that everything is going according to plan and we should trust that DJT will prevail...

However your theory that Trump has agreed to pardon Comey would explain why he publicly testified to Congress that he committed several felonies, why he is pushing a book now instead of lawyering up, and why his twitter feed is nothing but goofy platitudes. The spilling the beans part would require an explanation as to why he hasn't had a fatal accident involving a self-driving vehicle, but since nothing else seems to make sense I am not rejecting your pardon theory out of hand.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

The problem to be grappled with is Obama. If Hillary was guilty of "gross negligence" in handling classified information, Obama was too. He knew about her illegal server and did nothing about it. He emailed her on it.

Tom Bowler

Until Clarice corrected me, I thought Mueller's purpose was to produce a scathing report in the early autumn as a way to turn the midterms in favor of the Democrats. Now I think Mueller will continue his investigation as long as he can, just to provide ammunition for the argument that Trump is corrupt.

So much is going to hinge on the elections. If Democrats can take congress, a long shot in my view, they might harbor a desperate hope of somehow shutting down investigations and halting the cleanup of the DOJ, FBI, and other agencies. Of saving some allies in deep state.

Democrats will be out there stirring up the high school and college kids to get rid of the loathsome Trump. From here on out Republicans will need to pull out all the stops and get out the vote in order to prevent the country from going full commie as Gus would put it.

But Trump is key. His performance is winning people over. If he can continue that, and if we can see some key indictments come down between now and November, Trump may have significant coattails in the election.

They were caught red-handed and McCabe couldn’t save them.

Why are they hiding the truth?
Do they think the DeepState will wiggle out of this if they reveal more information.
What happened occurred under Obama’s watch.
Going after Obama would not ruin race relations.
Holder and Obama already accomplished that.
Jarrett has Obama protected- they will never get him unless Hillary spills the beans to save her own hide.
However I think Jarrett has a foolproof plan to fend that off.

Roger Stone claimed WikiLeaks had information on the Clinton Foundation on the same day he said he dined with Julian Assange

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone predicted on a radio show in 2016 that WikiLeaks would soon publish information that was damaging to the Clinton Foundation, on the same day he sent an email saying he had dinner with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

CNN uncovered an interview with InfoWars that Stone conducted in 2016, in which he predicted that Assange would release the information soon.

“Let’s remember that their defense to all the Clinton Foundation scandals has been not, ‘we didn’t do it,’ but has been, ‘you have no proof, yes, but you have no proof,’” Stone told InfoWars in 2016. “Well, I think Julian Assange has that proof and I think he us going to furnish it for the American people.”

That comment could create complications for Stone, who has said he was never in contact with Assange, despite his email. Special counsel Robert Mueller is thought to be looking into what relationship Stone might have had with Assange.

On the same day Stone made that radio comment, Aug. 4, 2016, Stone sent an email to former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg claiming he had dinner with Assange the night before.

Agreed. The National Title Parseghian won my freshman year (beat Bama in NOLA's Sugar Bowl- New Years Eve '73) was because of the backfield of Eric Pennick and Art Best. Those guys pounded the rock behind an O-Line of Granite on Wheels.

The defense boasted freshmen Ross Browner and Willie Fry at DE, freshman Luther Bradley at free safety, senior Mike Townshend at strong safety, the lethal Tim Rudnick at CB... and a pro-caliber (by today's standards) linebacking corps of Greg Collins, Gary Potempa, and Drew Mahalic.

Holtz might have had some teams that approached that caliber of a National Championship squad. But to whoop Bama in their own backyard that year was an impressive feat.

This pro-set spread offense is hurting the game. Rocket duels between QBeez isn't football. It reflects a lack of coaching expertise to teach kids how to block and shed blocks to defend properly. Lots more injuries in passing-oriented games too. No matter what the rules are. The O-line feet, ankle and knee injuries go way up when the big guys are in passive blocking formations.

But i digress. IS IT FOOTBALL SEASON YET?!?!?!?!

Was Mike Flynn promised a pardon for pleading guilty and will Congress raise a fuss about future pardons?
Mitch Mc Connell will not move forward on stopping Mueller and Congress continues to protect him.

I think a better analogy of what is going on in the battle of Trump vs. the Deep State/Clinton cabal is that of a boxing match rather than a chess game (4D or otherwise), with both sides having won some rounds and no for sure indication yet on who the final winner will be. Although I think Trump has the edge so far, if for no other reason than that he is still standing and the coup had a much better chance of success if they could have scored an early knock out.

I think Mueller's appointment was a round one win for the Deep State. I think their plan--born of a kind of desperation--was to use the Steele dossier to "prove" Russian "collusion" and panic the GOPe early on into impeaching, and then convicting him. That failed, first because the dossier was such a piece of crap, that even on the surface it wasn't flying with enough of the public. But what mostly finished off the "collusion hope" was the revelation that the dossier was manufactured by Fushion GPS and paid for by the Clinton campaign. The Deep State's failure to keep that inconvenient truth hidden from the public was a round two win for Trump.

Mueller has scored some wins with the Manafort indictment and the Flynn plea, but Trump has also won a couple of rounds too. The biggest win being the exposure to the public of the FBI's corrupt Clinton cabal's very existence (with actual names and faces) and the revelation that his campaign really was "wire tapped" and it was done so, perhaps even illegally, at the behest of that cabal.

Furthermore, If the coming IG report is sufficiently damning against Comey, then that will put an end to any hope of hanging an "obstruction of justice" change on Trump for having fired the man.

One other thought . . . I think that at this point Mueller is hoping to provoke Trump into firing him, thereby reinvigorating the obstruction of justice charge, which could be used as grounds for impeachment next year, with what they anticipate will be a Dem controlled House. I think Trump knows this, and thus there will be no firing of Mueller. Score this round a draw.

And to mix metaphors. I think that up until McCabe's firing the Deep State thought they had Trump in a Mexican stand-off with the Mueller investigation. As in, you can't take us down because we got Mueller and his blank checks of process crimes. I think Brennan's hysterical and threatening tweet in reaction to the McCabe firing came about because he was genuinely shocked that Trump had dared to go there. The McCabe firing showed them that Trump might not be as boxed in as they believed him to be.

You're right, there's also the Comey firing.

Imagine if Trump were indicted by Comey's friend and mentor for firing the sanctimonious dirty cop, who incidentally served at the so-called pleasure of the president.

One other thing about Comey. Based on what we already know it sure looks like he is just as corrupt as all the Obama administration officials who illegally spied on Trump. What if Comey supported the corruption out of fear for his own safety or someone in his family? Comey knows how Chicago machine politics work and what happens to people who oppose the Machine. Rod Blagoevich going to jail is an example of that. Comey probably knew first hand how Arkancide worked. Plenty of supporting evidence for what happens to people who cross the Clintons. If Seth Rich was assassinated because he leaked the DNC emails to Wikileaks Comey probably knew about that as well. While there is plenty of evidence Comey is corrupt as hell, there is also the possibility he was a coward afraid to expose the criminal corruption of the Obama administration. If Comey assumed Hillary beating Trump was almost a certainty, from a coward's perspective there was no reason for him to stick his neck out and do the right thing.

I'm not making the claim Comey is a White Hat. I'm just saying there is a possibility he felt like he was in a no-win position where he had to go along with the criminal corruption in the Obama administration out of fear for his own safety. In that situation, after Trump won the election Comey could have offered a mea culpa to him and told him everything that happened. Comey's friend Mueller was then brought in to help root out the corruption.

I agree it's hard to believe he would try that, unless they really do want a shooting war.

I brought that point up a few weeks back when discussing the Mueller White Hat theory. If Mueller is truly trying to destroy Trump, then that means he works for the Deep State and there is a silent coup in progress. If Mueller brings any charges against Trump and/or Congress impeaches/convicts Trump, IMO there is going to be a very high chance of massive protests by Trump supporters that will lead to widespread violence around the country because you know good and well the SJWs and Commies like ANTIFA will show up. IMO it also guarantees the end of the GOP as a national party because Trump supporters will likely never vote for a GOP candidate again. I just don't think Mueller, a former Marine, wants to be the person responsible for starting Civil War 2.

"Donald Trump wanted the world to crush us, to erase our existence. But Mexico responded admirably and we thank the government for the way it handled this caravan," he said."

Mexico starts paying for the wall. Hahahaha!

Why on earth would Trump pardon Comey?

Just read an article suggesting the increase in violanece in el Salvador is out fault for sending the gang members home. Huh?

Well you have to admit that the logic is impeccable, Clarice.

Buckeyette had to fly to Chicago last night to go to big baby formula headquarters.

All that rain MM was talking about hit us as I dropped her off at the airport. As I was driving home the tornado sirens went off. They sat on the tarmac for an extra hour and a half before a break in the action long enough to get out.

They had to pick their way through a secondary front. She told me today the flight was "a bit bumpy".

Good news is big baby formula travels better than little hamburger. She says her room at the Hyatt Regency is nice. Apple didn't fall far from the mom tree:)

Captain Hate

I still haven't heard how Mueller's targets get reimbursed.

LTG Flynn: This scheme we have concocted to take down the Deep State is going to cost me a lot of money in legal fees.

Trump: Don't worry, I have several billion dollars. I will take care of you once everything is said and done.

Even if I accept your preposterous premise that Mueller is part of a nod nod wink wink distraction from Sessions's legitimate prosecutors scrutiny, DJT would have to do something more transparent than send loads of cash to Iran on a plane. And the MFM would, for once legitimately, go bananas. And Flynn would have to declare it as income. It would make McCabe's GoFundMe scam look like an honorable thing.

No, this doesn't work for me.

Captain Hate

So we're supposed to keep all of El Salvadore's exported thugs here? Maybe we should empty out all our maximum security prisons there until they shut their simple yaps.

Tom Bowler

Quote from Jonathan Turley's column linked by MM:

"Moreover, Mueller as expected has indicated he will prepare a report on his investigation."

Just to sow a little confusion.

WATCH: Nancy Pelosi said that Democrats would indeed repeal the GOP tax law if they are successful in retaking the House in November.

She doesn't say "repeal." She saws "create a new tax bill" which of course, means the old one will go.

I'm not aware of any law that allows an acquitted defendant to sue the US government to cover the cost of their legal fees.

When Trump leaves office he can just hire Flynn as a consultant to work for the Trump corporation in some capacity.

A review of the similarities between the Trump Dossier/Russia accusations and how we were led to believe there were WMD's in Iraq.

Same UK intelligence agencies, and Christopher Steele was involved with both.

Parkland student shot 5 times while blocking door to save classmates is released from the hospital after 2 months and doesn't consider himself a hero.

clarice feldman

mm, I think Steele is awful but EVERY Western intell agencies and those of our allies and foes in the region believed Saddam had WMDs.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

clarice,

Well, why was that? It never entered my head that Saddam had nukes or anything similar until we started hearing it from the government. So what evidence did they have other than tales told by supposed agents within Iraq, if they even existed?

I was one who stuck up for that WMD tale long after a lot of people threw in the towel on it, because I couldn't imagine that people would push a fabricated story about something so important. It looks to me like that is what actually happened.

I no longer accept the idea that all of these people are simply looking out for our country's safety. Some are, but a lot are not. I also think that the dossier seems amazingly like something that the UK intelligence people would concoct based on who they THINK Trump is, based on stories in our crummy press.

Those cherry blossoms make great backgrounds for portraits. Use a wide aperture to throw the background out of focus blurring those pretty flowers and drawing the viewers eye to the subject.
