My parents are buried in Kalispell and my grandparents are in Polson at the south end of Flathead Lake. Definitely a day trip to Glacier Park is a must. Take a little hike when you get to the top of the Going to the Sun highway. The Mountain views are spectacular.

A cute town south on the east shore is Bigfork. Galleries and a shop to buy everything huckleberry.

The Bob Marshall Wilderness is also nearby for hiking.

And Moose’s Saloon is a must. We all went there after my dad’s burial and carved “Monte” in one of the tables. It is the thing to do.

In Montana if you order red beer you will get half beer and half tomato juice.

Ugh. I’ve tripped over a speech affect a little like the beta lilt that I cannot now unhear. That is the rather noisy, raspy quick inhale after a few words on camera. Sometimes every two or three words in a sentence. Bret Baire now does it all the time, but once I noticed it, I discovered that Steve Hilton does it, too. WTH? If they have asthma, can’t they zap it with an inhaler during commercials?

Modelo Chelada. It's not bad if you're not expecting the typical beer experience. I have a can of the Picante version in my fridge. The Anheuser Busch version uses Clamato and light beer. My brother bought me some once and was mildly disappointed when I didn't hate it.

On Thursday, President Trump signed Space Policy Directive 2, which will make important strides toward modernizing our outdated space policies. These changes include creating a new office, the Space Policy Advancing Commercial Enterprise Administration, within my office to oversee coordination of the department’s commercial space activities, establishing a “one-stop shop” to work on behalf of the budding private space sector.

Collectively, these efforts will unshackle American industry and ensure American leadership in space. This is essential to technological innovation, economic growth, jobs and national security. But, perhaps more important, it is rejuvenating the American passion for space exploration.

Assuming Iggy was preaching at me this morning with this, I acknowledge I read it:

"I appreciate the Ledge/Veranda back and forth but not so much when it veers into the personal rather than the subject matter and that seems to occur mostly in one direction.
It is possible to hold either view without being naive, obtuse, ignorant, inexperienced or generally gullible and delusional.
Ad hom often indicates one is losing the argument. It might also indicate an argument being advanced is silly and some aspects of the Veranda view have seemed so.
But most haven't. Doesn't mean they're right but does mean the arguers might possibly be entitled to fewer personal digs, especially considering the possibility they might be more correct than previously thought. Crow is a dish best not served at all."

Old Lurker

Frankly Iggy, the back and forth is so fundamental as to be a waste of time on both sides. It is not unlike abortion: you either believe it's a life or you don't.

In our case we all appreciate that there is mounting evidence that many abuses of our constitutional rights and protections were (and perhaps are being) perpetrated by others for personal gain and power or both, mindless of the fundamental damage they were (are) doing to the Republic. No argument from either camp on that.

Some of us seem to trust without any evidence, and in fact in the face of occasional indications to the contrary, that the powers that be in DC can be counted on to get to the bottom of all the crimes committed and punish all those who did them so that The People can be reassured that we are the country of equal justice we were taught, that these sins will not be repeated, and that the future here will be bright.

Others of us simply do not trust the powers that be to do that, we suspect some or many of them have hidden objectives, we see signs of insincere pursuit of the criminals or at the least, little evidence of the contrary, and that at the end of the day only a small group of them if any will pay any price at all for what they have done. And in that case the country will never be what we hoped it could be and maybe was once upon a time.

Thinking about Dick S, it just dawned on me that Polson, Dick, and Tammy all converged in a moment. As I’ve mentioned before, I had instigated a sporting clays outing in Phx when we were at a Horowitz gathering and Dick happened to sign up. Tammy and her gal pal also signed up, so we spend a long and fun afternoon with them all. Polson was part of the picture because we had Mrs MT’s Baretta drop shipped directly from Polson in time to use it there. If I ever get to chat with the Tams again, I’ll ask whether she was first bitten by the gun bug there and then, because it seemed her pal was the one pushing the whole outing and shortly thereafter she posts a pic holding a handgun. Fun little historic moment in our lives.

Gentlejim

Dropping in quickly.

The training I just completed was fantastic. The course was Proactive Leadership Skills presented by Silouan Green. The course was based on personality types, team building and problem solving. It’s relatable to everyday life for anyone. My take from this training far surpasses a previous class I had that spent 2 days talking about policy/procedure and how to hammer underlings. It was quite refreshing. Turns out the instructor went to high school 12 miles away from me. He played basketball against my younger brother. Great guy. Former Marine discharged after severe injuries suffered in a training flight crash. I have more to say. Maybe later.

Based on what I pointed out to you yesterday, are you willing to admit the assertions and conclusions you made in your 1:39 post were misinterpretations on your part of the facts surrounding the Judicial Watch FOIA request?

Do you agree with me that Strzok and Page's personal communications on their personal phones/computers are protected by their Constitutional rights and not eligible for a FOIA request by Judicial Watch?

Do you also agree with me that the FBI is not conducting this investigation so there was no reason for the FBI to obtain Strzok and Page's communications from their personal devices?

Do you agree with me that Strzok and Page's personal communications on their personal phones/computers are protected by their Constitutional rights and not eligible for a FOIA request by Judicial Watch?

Huh?

The Justice Department informed Judicial Watch late last week that “the FBI plans to send letters to Peter Strzok and Lisa Page asking them to preserve agency records on their personal accounts and personal devices and requesting confirmation that they are doing so.” Judicial Watch made the preservation request to the FBI as part of its Freedom of Information (FOIA) lawsuit for records of the two current and former FBI officials.

On May 21, U.S. District Court Judge Reggie B. Walton ordered the FBI to begin processing 13,000 pages of previously undisclosed emails exchanged exclusively between FBI officials Strzok and Page between February 1, 2015, and December 2017. The first 500 pages of records are to be processed by June 29, 2018.

So, today Mrs. JiB, myself, tonto and Harry lined up outside a house in East Hampton for our traditional All-American Pickers Estate Sale. A little shabby but livable with a very large artist studio in the back with lots of brushes, paints and large canvsas.

We saw some organizer containers and multi-tier basket tray on wheels and bought them. Cheap! Mrs. JiB is a Belgian banker's daughter and knows how to bargain. Well, in one of those little baskets was a 10 document stapled which had the CV and collections of the owner: Frank Roth, an well known American Painter - mostly abstract. MoMa, Tate, etc.

Tom R

TK,

Since you think Horowitz/Huber have emails from both Strzok/Page's government and personal emails, do you also think that shoots down OL's argument that Sessions, Rosenstein and Wray are all protecting their swamp pals more than serving their country and its President?

Keep in mind what the DOJ has are the unredacted Strzok/Page texts/emails. Releasing those texts/emails to the public as part of a FOIA request requires processing them to redact out any information exempt from FOIA requests. There are 9 categories of exemptions. I will copy/paste the two most likely for this situation.

Exemption 6: Information that, if disclosed, would invade another individual's personal privacy.

Exemption 7: Information compiled for law enforcement purposes that:

◦7(A). Could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings
◦7(B). Would deprive a person of a right to a fair trial or an impartial adjudication
◦7(C). Could reasonably be expected to constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy
◦7(D). Could reasonably be expected to disclose the identity of a confidential source
◦7(E). Would disclose techniques and procedures for law enforcement investigations or prosecutions, or would disclose guidelines for law enforcement investigations or prosecutions if such disclosure could reasonably be expected to risk circumvention of the law
◦7(F). Could reasonably be expected to endanger the life or physical safety of any individual

TK, your link stipulates that S and P must preserve "agency records" on their personal email and devices.

I think Tom R is saying that S&P's personal communications on personal email and devices - those which are not "agency records" - would not be FOIA eligible.

Personally I have no idea - just wanted to point out what I saw as the distinction.

Old Lurker

Tom, I have never cared a whit about FOIA except when it can nudge a government employee to worry about breaking some rule. In the crimes that bother me, I worry only about the timely acquisition of evidence that can promptly lead to prosecution of crimes by the people for whom that is a duty. Nor are you going to get me onto the head of that pin with you about which agency of the DoJ is pursuing justice.

So no. I apologize not at all for reacting to news of failure by this government to lock down evidence of crimes before the chains of evidence are lost, or until enough time passes to foreclose timely prosecution, and you will never get me to agree with you that the NSA even has or will release data that the criminals might destroy because they were not ordered to preserve it using the proper colored form.

As to whether super sleuths in secret are doing everything I hoped they would do, excuse me for being skeptical.

You said:"Do you agree with me that Strzok and Page's personal communications on their personal phones/computers are protected by their Constitutional rights and not eligible for a FOIA request by Judicial Watch?"

I believe the the Judicial Watch press release clarifies that "records on their personal accounts and personal devices" are to be made available due to a "request to the FBI as part of its Freedom of Information (FOIA) lawsuit."

We probably should finish that topic before we dive into the words you put into my mouth argument you just begun.

Eye Doctor

Maybe someone will give the personal texts and emails to Sean's lawyer?

Tom R

Gus,

The Strzok/Page emails don't have anything to do with Hillary's private server, which is what I assume you were referring to.

We already know the DOJ has 13000 pages of emails from Strzok and Page. TK believes they consist of both emails sent from both their government accounts as well as their personal accounts like Gmail. if TK is correct, then what OL said in his 1:39 would appear to not be supported by the facts.

Eye Doctor

Tom R

How do you know they have nothing to do with Clinton's server?

Threadkiller

I think Tom R is saying that S&P's personal communications on personal email and devices - those which are not "agency records" - would not be FOIA eligible.

I think that is what he will say now that you have given him a nudge.

I don't see how that matters since the OIG should care as much as you, me, or Tom, if there is a restriction on a personal email that truly only contains dinner plans. IOW, not care at all.

Anything that they discussed on a personal platform that related to the Agency and especially related to their insurance plan are fair game.

OL,

That's the entire point I have been trying to get you to understand. In regards to the Strzok/Page personal communications on their personal phones and personal email accounts, there is no evidence of failure by the government to lock down evidence of crime before the chain of evidence was lost.

GUS

Do you see the mopes in Washington concerning themselves with the rule of law?

Old Lurker

I will confess to making one huge mistake yesterday. I released from Killfile a poster who to me - I know this is personal and others disagree - is simply a troll who rarely adds anything to my understanding of the situation - repeat, others can think what they want- and invariably all I get is higher blood pressure from the interaction. The trade is not worth it to me.

That mistake is now corrected.

henry

We are talking about a quote that FBI just now issued an evidence preservation request to Strzok and Page. This is nearly a year after both got removed from Mueller's hit team. How does that indicate government success in preserving evidence?

Point to lots of unprocessed emails (could all be from government internal systems)? FBI / DOJ have been slow walking all disclosure. So that indicates nothing in particular.

Sealed indictments? Again, someone got accused of doing something somewhere. But no tie to this issue. So that too indicates nothing in particular.

What else is there ? Lots of assumptions piled end to end? Not persuasive.

Porchlight

Anything that they discussed on a personal platform that related to the Agency and especially related to their insurance plan are fair game.

Of course. Any such email would qualify as an "agency record" as far as I understand it.

Old Lurker

In so saying, I know full well that my own posts cause the same reaction in some others. Killfile away.

Stephanie, Nene, Not your Normal Grandma

Just make sure you don't killfile Clarice, OL, or she might just have that wedding budget go nuclear!

Threadkiller

It is also well after Judicial Watch filed their FOIA request, henry. Even if the FBI wasn't investigating itself, the DOJ had an obligation to honor the FOIA request without making JW turn it into a lawsuit.

The same rules of protection applied months ago that apply now. Session's DOJ didn't have to hand time away to the crooks.

This one text tells me all I need to know.
Page texting Strzok:
Don’t ever text me on this phone again.

She probably destroyed her phone as well.
I do not put anything past these people.
We can state our opinion and don’t have to retract previous statements just because another poster thinks he has a better handle on it.
