Here's an interesting question: why the big build-up to the announcement?

It seems to me, if he has made up his mind, normally a terse announcement with a bit of the element of surprise would normally be the way to go.

This is being billed as a major event with a big build-up. No one in the administration will even give a hint of what's going on.

I would so enjoy it if he has some surprise in the announcement, like arresting John Kerry or explaining how Obama got a chunk of that cash on the pallets. LOL!

The Infamous Ignatz

I'd say "willowed" but that's against my linguistic code of conduct;

The most interesting thing I've seen about the redactions by the DOJ was not that the redactions were a joke but that one of the Russian companies named in the indictment showed up asking for its day in court and the attendant discovery which Mueller is now resisting.
Bright boy.

The Man Once Expected To Take Over For China’s Xi Gets Life In Prison Instead

A rising political star once seen as a potential successor to Chinese President Xi Jinping fell hard Tuesday when a court sentenced him to life in prison for corruption, a fate that has befallen a number of political figures in China as Xi’s power grows.

Sun Zhengcai, a member of the ruling Politburo until he was unexpectedly ousted last year, pleaded guilty to corruption in April. He expressed regret and remorse for taking millions of dollars in bribes. At a trial in the port city of Tianjin, a local court sentenced Sun to life in prison. Furthermore, his political rights and assets will be stripped away, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Chinese state media reported that his expressions of regret made him eligible for a more lenient sentence, which suggests he may have been facing the death penalty. Since took power a little over five years ago, more than one million Chinese officials have been investigated and punished for corruption.

Nunes finished, after a few more back and forths, saying there is more info they are being denied and that Congress and the American people need to see it and that's why he pushed to hold Jeff Sessions in contempt last week. What is obvious is that Nunes has a different take on redaction and slow walking by the FBI/DOJ of legitimately requested information than you have.

Responding to both daddy and JM Hanes from the previous thread.

Regarding Nunes, I think he is an ally of Trump and his team. They share common goals. IMO they don't necessarily agree with the best course of action to achieve those goals. I see a couple of possible explanations for Nunes comments and threats (impeaching Rosenstein, holding Sessions in contempt of Congress).

Possibility #1 is Nunes is just playing his role in the kabuki theater script. He is an integral part of the Trump plan to expose and to destroy the Deep State. Nunes knows everything about the Obama administration illegally spying on Trump because Trump allowed him to come to the WH and read the classified information documenting it. Nunes knows exactly what Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller are doing. Nunes knows it will take a long time for the DOJ to complete the investigations. His threats are not intended to be taken 100% literally. Instead, they are intended to keep the investigation into the criminal corruption of the Obama administration constantly in the news cycle. The DOJ is keeping intentionally quiet and working behind the scenes and Nunes knows all this. If Nunes didn't make the threats then there wouldn't be much news to report. Secondly, Nunes threats helps shape the narrative that the DOJ under Trump is NOT weaponized like it was under Obama. If it were weaponized the DOJ would have "locked up her" and gone after other Obama officials a long time ago. Instead Sessions and Rosenstein keep reinforcing the notion that the Trump DOJ is returning back to the Constitutional principle of following the rule of law. A lot of people don't understand what that means due to decades of corruption in DC.

Possibility #2 ditches Nunes playing the kabuki theater role. He is still an ally of Trump and knows what Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller are doing behind the scenes to destroy the Deep State. Nunes problem however is he is on a time crunch of having to get reelected in the 2018 midterms and I have read reports it isn't going to be a cakewalk for him. In this scenario, Nunes is in disagreement with Sessions/Rosenstein on when all of this damning information should be made public. Nunes wants the damning information out now to help him and other Republicans win their reelection bids. In this scenario, I don't have a good explanation for this threats against Sessions/Rosenstein since IMO he knows they are working on the investigations. Perhaps the primary intended audience for the threats are his constituents back in California who share the same beliefs as a lot of people here that Sessions is asleep and Rosenstein is dirty? He needs good voter turnout to get reelected so the more of his constituents who believe Mueller/Rosenstein are trying to destroy Trump the more people show up to vote for him?

Pelosi Calls Ad Saying She’ll Raise Taxes ‘Accurate’

Politico’s Jake Sherman asked Pelosi about a new ad from the National Republican Campaign Committee in which Pelosi is quoted criticizing the GOP tax cuts passed at the end of 2017.

"It said that you would like to institute a single-payer health-care program and raise taxes — I think they mean roll back the tax cuts that they passed this year," Sherman said. "Is that true?"

"Well the second part there is accurate," Pelosi replied with a laugh. "I do think that we should revisit the tax legislation in the way that we always have, in a bipartisan, transparent way."

MM, we ain't gonna settle it since we do not know the future. You are right about that. Have all the hope you want, it is fine with me.

History (Tytler) suggests that we start in bondage and poverty and that we end in bondage and poverty, usually in 200+ year cycles. Selfishness, Apathy and Dependency usually complete each cycle. This country is following that arc and left to the current vector and accelerating momentum, oldsters who knew us at our best will die off and be replaced by a young generation that thinks that socialism looks just fine to them, so long as they polar bears live. Why would they think otherwise, they have been taught to feel that way. (yes, I said "feel" because they have not been taught to "think" in the classical meaning of the word.)

I have felt this way for most of my adult life, seeing a Reagan with all his hope (and mine with him) and talents replaced by a Bush, only to be followed by worse and worser. Before Trump I thought the curve direction was pretty cooked in; Trump gave me hope that I might have been premature in that thinking and that the arc could be bent back upward, and seeing the effect of that others would decide to try to fly themselves.

Forgive me for looking for steak under the sizzle.

If I am but a lone voice, frankly that's great. If I am putting words to what others are afraid to say out loud, then shame on those who might have kept hope alive but did not...if only they had done this or that along the way.

I am not going to apologize for seeing it as I do. My responsibility is to prepare my own children and grandchildren to be able to survive at the skinny end of the Bell Curve they are blessed to inhabit, for as long as they can stay there based on the values I tried to instill in them when I could.

Back on lo carb diets--this recipe for locarb crepes looks promising:
Print
Almond Crepes with Fresh Berries
Author: Sassy Southern Yankee
Recipe type: Breakfast- Gluten Free
Prep time: 20 mins Cook time: 5 mins Total time: 25 mins
Serves: 4

Light, sweet, gluten free breakfast crepe.
Ingredients
1 Cup Coconut Milk (or your favorite type of milk)
1 Cup Almond Flour (or regular flour for my non-gluten free people)
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract GF
1 Tablespoon Melted Coconut Oil or Butter
Non stick cooking spray or coconut oil for greasing the pan
¼ Teaspoon Almond extract if using regular flour to aid in Almond taste
Instructions
Combine all of the ingredients in either a glass bowl with a whisk or you can use the blender. Blend or mix until combines and the mixture is smooth. If using the almond flour the mixture may be slightly lumpy don't worry this is fine. Allow the crepe batter to sit for 15-30 min. This helps the ingredients start to bind together and helps prevent sticking.
After the crepe batter has had a chance to "rest" heat a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once the pan is hot add a bit of non-stick spray or coconut oil to the pan. Add ⅓ Cup of the batter to the hot pan tilting the pan side to side until the batter coats the bottom of the pan. Allow the crepe to cook until the center is just about set.
Using a large spatula flip the crepe over and cook the other side. I love mine to be a beautiful golden brown.
Once both sides are golden brown slide the crepe out of the pan onto a plate with paper towel on it. This is a handy little trick I learned. By flipping the crepe onto the paper towel now you can fill the crepe with whatever fillings you desire then easily roll it up much like you do a sushi roll or when making a pumpkin roll log. It prevents the crepe from breaking or from you losing the delicious filling when moving it to the plate.

[If you're making them for a savory filling, I'd just skip the vanilla)

I really wish people in the media would stop referring to leftwing progressivism as liberalism. IMO current progressive ideology, whose direct roots trace back to Marx, doesn't have much in common with traditional liberalism.
