Should Trump agree to an interview with Mueller? If I am reading this Times story correctly, no sane lawyer would let him. Here we go on the genesis of this list of questions for Trump from Mueller:
Mr. Dowd had argued that Mr. Trump was too busy running the country to sit for an interview, especially if he was not a target of the investigation, according to a person briefed on the encounter.
Mr. Mueller replied that he had to question Mr. Trump to determine whether he had criminal intent when he took actions like firing Mr. Comey and raised the possibility of subpoenaing Mr. Trump to appear before a grand jury, the person said. News of Mr. Mueller mentioning the subpoena was first reported by The Washington Post.
If Mueller can't make the case without talking to Trump what sane lawyer would agree to an interview? Of course, the Secret Service won't let Trump's legal team handcuff him to his desk and the political advisors may have a different take, but still.
As to a grand jury subpoena, the political scuffling over that would be epic. And if Trump ends up in front of the grand jury (with none of his lawyers present, if normal rules apply) can he just invoke combinations of the Fifth Amendment and executive privilege and refuse to answer anything? And then what - if a judge rules he must testify, they jail him for contempt?
Or would Trump be disciplined enough to keep quiet? It's very easy to imagine him rising to his feet and shouting "Do you want the truth?"
Well. Go long popcorn.
For the "He's a genius" file, Dowd's observation that Trump is too busy ought to be a way to flatter Trump into taking a pass on a Mueller interview. Trump has China, NAFTA Iran and North Korea are all coming to a crescendo. Convincing him he is indispensable to those deals and should focus on that rather than prepping for what Trump views as Mueller's "witch hunt" ought to be easy for anyone who knows Trump at all.

Interesting:
AllianceBernstein has been one of the country’s largest financial asset management firms since its founding in 1967. It currently manages nearly $500 billion. Naturally, it has been headquartered in the country’s financial capital, New York City.
Not anymore. It announced yesterday that it is moving its headquarters to Nashville, Tennessee. Financial companies have been moving back-office operations to lower-cost cities for quite a while. But I think this is the first time a major financial firm is moving, lock, stock, and barrel out of the New York area, including its CEO and top management.
The reason is simple enough. Nashville is a rapidly growing city with a beneficent climate and attractive, gently rolling countryside, a vibrant culture, an educated workforce, major universities and colleges, and, of course, the Grand Ole’ Opry.
It also has no state income tax, no estate tax, no inheritance tax (for deaths after December 31, 2015), much lower housing costs, much lower property taxes, and much shorter commutes.

It casts Cohen watnick in poor light, which is ironic since sessions has retained him for unspecified investigations.

There will be a USA after Trump. We're going to be better off if we put an end to the anti-Democratic "We've got to do something, because he's, *shriek*, Trump garbage. Because all the precedents adopted in the midst of hysteria will be the ones followed when we've all settled down and wondered what the heck happened to our civil rights.

Combine that with the belief no reasonable lawyer would allow their client to meet with a prosecutor under that situation and what you end up with is that if Trump does meet with Mueller then he is either unreasonably crazy/stupid or there is something else going on we don't know about.

Hey narciso did you see this part? Ukraine has their own Special Counsel investigating Manafort and Skadden Arps.
The Ukrainian investigators had been tracing money paid to Mr. Manafort and a New York law firm, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, by figures in the political party of Viktor F. Yanukovych, the Russian-leaning Ukrainian president who was ousted by street protesters and fled the country in 2014.
The new government established a special prosecutor to pursue corruption in the former administration. By late last year, the prosecutor, Serhiy Horbatyuk, had opened about 3,000 cases, including four related to Mr. Manafort’s consulting for the former president and his political party.

The last line of McCarthy's NR article Appalled posted earlier:
“This is not merely about protecting Trump; it is about protecting the office of the presidency.”
I’ve thought for a long time that the delay in supporting Trump by our senators and representatives, as well as men like Sessions, has done irreparable harm to our country, let alone the office of the presidency. Never, in the fifty-plus years I’ve been following politics, has such a foul and twisted political sentiment like “resist” been allowed to bloom and grow like a toxic mold, suffocating the truth and enabling really evil people to control the nation’s discourse.
Go on any political blog, read twitter, check editorial pages, listen to major media, and observe the hate-filled fantasies of the left – and, this sentiment has saturated our young people who have just become interested in politics as if it’s legitimate and a way to engage in political debate.
The left has a lot to answer for, but so does the right. This vile national commentary from Democrats and HRC supporters should have been countered by all Republicans, not just a few. Yes, we should have protected Trump and the office of the presidency, but we should have been protecting young, malleable voters’ minds as well, they’ve absorbed evil lies – I hope the truth shines soon and the architects of the left’s dreams to impeach Trump and take over the Senate and House are soon shattered, if not, I dread the future.

"The Flight 93 Election" essay laid out an argument why never-trumpers should turn out and vote for Trump. It did not in any way present itself as an argument for using any means necessary to bring down a duly-elected President.
Not recognizing/respecting the gulf between those two aims is far from trivial. Among other things, it's the difference between being a good citizen and being an enemy within.

What Flight 93 election is, in part, is an argument that a bombastic, personally flawed, outsider candidate is necessary, because the times are desperate and the Republic is at stake. I think the Resistance is heading down that road for 2020, at least in terms of its rhetoric.

Mr. Mueller was apparently unsatisfied. He told Mr. Dowd in early March that he needed to question the president directly to determine whether he had criminal intent when he fired Mr. Comey, the people said.
An interesting and disturbing approach. Typically, a crime occurs and is identified as such. (Firing Comey was not a crime in anyone's mind except Mr. Comey's.) Then the actual crime is investigated, the perpetrator(s) identified and a determination is made on intent.
Mueller turns this upside down. He has an allegation made by the loser(s) in a campaign that the winner sought to get dirt on his opponent. No crime here. Well, they say his campaign met with persons from another country who claimed to have dirt on his opponent. So far, so good. Seeking out damaging information on your opponent is not a crime. Just ask Hillary Clinton.
So, Mr. Mueller now wants to conduct a sort of legal version of the Vulcan Mind Meld to probe President Trump's thought processes on a whole slew of issues in order to manufacture intent in his desperate search for a crime. Bass ackwards doesn't even begin to describe what Mueller is seeking to accomplish. He knows it; the President's legal team knows it; the media know it.
It's well past time to bring this thing to a conclusion. Mueller should issue his report with the anticipated questions about the conduct of certain persons in the Trump campaign and put an end to this farce - or at least the Mueller phase of it.

Why can't Sessions object to every question that doesn't involve collusion? Why can't he make Mueller explain how and why each question leads to collusion.
Or maybe President Trump should ask him in a tweet laying the foundation to then plead the fifth on everything question that's personal.

I have to admit, for whatever reason I tried to cut Hank Johnson some slack on his Guam comments but, having seen and listened to his Diamond and Silk comments, he's an embarrassing retard.
