Cute to see the groom looking so happy and emotional.

Tasteful dress.

I think that may be the first royal wedding I have watched. It was especially cool to remember how cute the diva and red were when we were there when they were 7 and 10, respectively. We essentially had the quire to ourselves that day as it was March and not too busy.

If you did watch the wedding and have never been to st georges, do seek out a picture of the katherine of aragon balcony so you can appreciate the ancientness of what you are seeing.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I ruly believe Harry loves her. ABC was watching him like a hawk and caught him saying "I am so lucky" to her. Also caught him wiping away a tear.

They did a good job, and even the incorporation of "Stand by Me" was tastefully done.

ABC interviewed a friend of Meghan's who said she was in a gift shop and it was surreal to see her friend's face all over plates and mugs. LOL!

I was just commenting to my daughter how much I liked Gothic architecture. Quite beautiful and although I have been to Westminster Abbey, I have never been to Windsor, so it was a treat to really see the interior.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Do you suppose the bookstore will be selling royal wedding mugs? Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Captain Hate

The article pagar posted says that the writer could find NO evidence that the Obamas had given any sort of wedding gift, which if they had, the press would have trumpeted.

I bet the Clintons didn't send one either.

The Horde has suggested that Tub Dive:
1. Has set up a card table hawking her book
2. Is rifling through all the presents and swilling vodka

rse, google isn't helping me---why the need for the balcony?
Couldn't she be in the nave?

MM-when we were there they had some rooms open that are not usually open to the public so we saw a living room they use and the more breakfast room sized dining area that would be a normal dining room in a nice house. Then the guards were chatting with my daughters and telling them about the day of the fire. Apparently Prince Andrew was in residence and organized what to save first and in which order.

The kind of stories they still remember that personalized the place. The living area I mentioned looked out over that great walk in front that the carriage just came up. I miss the little kids version of my children sometimes and all the experiences we shared as they grew up. Windsor reminds me of that time period.

here a'mom, have some fun.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Last night all the guys at my regular bar in Midtown—not by any means a lunch-bucket institution, if you will—were saying the FBI thing has gone too far and enough with elite institutions trying to undo the result of a democratic election.

This is in Midtown Manhattan[!!!].

An event that promotes racial harmony and inclusiveness.

Nice change from what we lived through during the Zero era.

clarice feldman

except for the Queen who I rather like, I don't give a damn about the Windsors. There, I said it.

Landed in Sydney about 6 hours ago (4 PM) and the cabbie instantly started in on the Royal Wedding. I am uninterested in the Wedding but interested in who cares about it and why. Cabbie said that in Sydney tonight the girls will be watching the Wedding and the boys will be watching Footie, and pretty much he was on the money.

Wound up 4 hours later at The Lord Nelson (1841-Pub/Brewery/Hotel) and on one half of the bar the TV screens were showing Footie and on the other half it was The Royal Wedding. I was sitting on a barstool reading a fun History of the First Fleet: 1788: The Brutal Truth of the First Fleet---David Hill, and noticed that the TV Royal Wedding TV screen was clustered with women and the Footie screen was clobbered by men. From my vantage point, just abeam 3 young pretty female bartenders, it was wonderful to see how rapt at attention they were to the Wedding Screen, especially the young Chinese Aussie girl, pretty as could be, who's eyes just shimmered staring in the screen as she washed beer mugs. Watching her watch the Wedding made my night. As for the Wedding itself, it took way too long. I noticed that a girl we were laughing at for shedding big tears early on, lost interest during the extravagantly animated gyrations of the Black Priest yammering on and on, and then with all the other PC choirs and cello players following on the entire thing lost not just me, but the women at The Lord Nelson quit crying and even paying attention. Plus Harry looked way less than happy at a number of instances, so here's my grade for the overall spectacle: D.

rse is a link that seems to have gone missing. It was so she could watch the order investiture unobserved.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I believe Harry was remembering his mother. He gave an interview the other day which said it was at times like this he really misses her.

The flowers were white roses in tribute to Diana; it was her favorite flower.

Harry looked quite happy during the carriage ride.

rse is also full of fun facts about the place, including that henry viii's coffin exploded about ten years after he was buried due to methane gas build up.

I was peacefully catching up on JOM and then Mrs. Buckeye woke up and turned the TV on.

She is like the girls clustered at that end of the bar daddy.

Beasts of England

The new talking points must have been released. I'm seeing that having an informant (spy) in the Trump campaign is totes acceptable because it's a law enforcement decision not a political one. I am not kidding.

Old Lurker

Marlene, other thread: "New wedding thread!"

Which I deem as big a waste of digital zeros and ones as a thread listing all of the good things about democrats and socialism.

rse is a nice overview of the history of the entire building and who is buried there. It would have been nice if the commentators had read any of this to have a better feel for that building.

clarice feldman

OL, I know your daughter is watching this to get ideas. Tell her I can make hers even bigger, better, and more costly!

The new talking points must have been released. I'm seeing that having an informant (spy) in the Trump campaign is totes acceptable because it's a law enforcement decision not a political one. I am not kidding.

Clapper was trying to sell that crap last night.

Praying for early onset rigor mortis for all these traitors.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I care about the royal wedding. We need the joy, the love, the humanity. Prince Harry is an avid advocate for wounded warriors, including w the wonderful Invictus Games. Not many public leaders like him stateside. Looking forward to the next gen pageantry.

Also, this...

Miss Marple the Deplorable

You gotta watch @donlemon on CNN right now making a fool of himself talking about the “revolution” signaled by a gluten free royal wedding cake.

— Arthur Schwartz (@ArthurSchwartz) May 19, 2018

Enjoyed watching the wedding with my daughter. She studied in London one semester so she was telling me things and reminiscing about her visit to Windsor. She started watching at 4 a.m.! I have graduation today so I slept in until 6:00.

My favorite moment was as she was ascending the stairs and the two little twin boys attending her beautiful veil.

Twitter had a field day commenting on the Episcopal bishop and his long, exuberant wedding sermon.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

They had some CIA guy selling the idea that infiltrating the Trump campaign was for his protection (an article in the Washington Post).

Some guy on Twitter this morning said that Trump should send FBI agents into every dem campaign this fall for their protection, too.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I thought it was a pretty good sermon, although a little long.

My daughter said she thought the Queen looked confused. LOL!

If I tell you that I got up at 4 am, did make up, french braided my hair, and put on a (sun) dress and jewelry to "attend" Charles and Diana's wedding in July 1981, will it worry you?

From daddy's story above, and the way things are breaking here, I think we may be seeing a bit more evidence of that hormonal effect on brains today.

My husband didn't pay a bit of attention to any of this, buy he did watch and enjoy every episode of The Crown. Netflix.

Interesting insight to the demands a life of endless service, which was
(is) not a choice.

MM - but you could tell the sermon did not fit what they are used to in that venue. I expect there will be a lot of talk about it.

Loved the history in the making wedding of Harry and Meghan.
Episcopal preacher- too long.
Loved the pomp and circumstance of the occasion.
Loved the young children and the cello playing Ave Maria.
The dress was beautiful and the tiara quite lovely.
James Corden was there but Oprah looked out of place and forgive me dowdy.

Thanks rse!

Jack, the newly wed Duchess of Sussex has a rescue BEAGLE! And ABC said the Queen was taking care of him! (Hope he fit in with the Corgis!)

I went to make tea during that part of the service but the parts I heard reminded me of MLK's Beloved Community vision, which confirms is now an official vision of the episcopal church.

They had some CIA guy selling the idea that infiltrating the Trump campaign was for his protection (an article in the Washington Post).

First they deny it and when that is a lost cause they pull out these lame excuses. Sad!

Old Lurker

Buckeye "Praying for early onset rigor mortis for all these traitors."

Dying in their sleep would be a disservice to the Constitutional Republic. Their crimes must be displayed and punished first.

Did you wear a fascinator hat, amom?

Enough of this wedding crap :)

To late/early for KJOM??? Not a chance!!!

This young lady is a (more than) triple threat, expect big things from her in the future:

And, the saddest song ever:

I hate to interrupt the wedding celebration, but this is a good piece about the upcoming IG report (ZH).

Miss Marple the Deplorable

This is a really good article. Take the time to read it.

Camilla walked in looking like she is a candidate for a hip replacement.
She pulled up lame in the last furlough.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I would like to say that the wedding dress was simply beautiful. I disliked the one Diana wore.

rse was also reflected in the sermon.

john powell first came on my radar when he did some work with Linda Darling-Hammond on learning standards. These also push this vision as I warned yesterday as the seek to alter student's perception and very Identity and say so.

ldh and powell have also teamed up to pressure the philanthropy roundtable not to make donations to groups not actively pursuing this inclusive society, Beloved Community vision.

No fascinator in 1981, as it didn't become a "thing" until the 1990s, but I wore plenty to church back in the day---we non-males used to have to have our heads covered.

I had a big collection of hats, some of which would qualify as fascinators, which technically do NOT cover one's crown.
My mother definitely had small ones with a bit of veiling that fit the bill.

Gosh, I wish we had them still.

Old Lurker

Ext, what that ZH story confirms is that once again, Rush is right. Yesterday he observed that even the most loyal of Trump supporters (that would include me) are by now simply overwhelmed by the complexity and endless speculations about "what this means or what that means" and are tired of watching the juggler throw more and more knives into the air.

In their wisdom, those people know two simple things: Massive crimes have been committed against this nation by people who were charged to protect it. And unless heads roll soon, they will never trust their government again.

He is right. As confusing as it appears, it is just that simple.

Ralph L

My step-cousin had an Anglican wedding using the 1928 Prayer Book and not much else. It was over in about 10 minutes.

Agree w above OL , 1000%.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

From MM's 9:39

Tapper tweaked Ms. Strassel for accidentally tweeting "Hurricane Crossfire" rather than "Crossfire Hurricane" (the name the FBI cribbed from Mick Jagger as a trendy name for their repellent activities).

Oh good one, Jake, for pointing out her getting that boomer pop culture trivia wrong. Solid CNN level reporting. My esteem for Kimberly rises for being unaware of such unimportant minutiae.

Ralph L

They just had to bring in the Trumps in that Kevin Bar/con tweet.

Jack is Back!

Windsor Castle is nice. I may be the only one on JOM to play the Royal Household Golf Course there. Not open to the public but I got to know the head of household at Windsor through the Royal Society that we were supporting corporate members. Prince Andrew had it installed since he was a keen golfer.

Now if they had a batchelor's party on the course, I'd have watched just to see Harry's swing.

I take it his real dad, James Hewitt, was not at the wedding.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Old Lurker,

I agree, and I know you have been grumbling about this for some time, but the delay has allowed 2 things:

1. People have gotten used to Trump being president and see that he is doing a good job (except for the die-hard progs).

2. The longer this has dragged on the more people have learned about how much it is costing, how ridiculous the charges are, and what a breach of trust people in the FBI< CIA, and DOJ committed.

I would remind you that Trump devoted a whole chapter in one of his books to "Revenge" and that he is a master of showmanship and timing.

I personally enjoyed the "Yeah, well we did spy on him but it was for his protection" line. That was REALLY lame, and showed that they are desperate.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

We grieve for the terrible loss of life, and send our support and love to everyone affected by this horrible attack in Texas. To the students, families, teachers and personnel at Santa Fe High School – we are with you in this tragic hour, and we will be with you forever...

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Every time Clapper opens his fat yap he sounds like a caricature of someone really ignorant. A great fit at CNN.

Dear Readers:

With the recent conservative victories related to tax cuts, the Supreme Court, and other major issues, it is easy to become complacent.

However, the liberal Left is not backing down. They are rallying supporters to advance their agenda, moving this nation further from the vision of our founding fathers.

If we are to continue to bring this nation back to our founding principles of limited government and fiscal conservatism, we need to come together as a group of likeminded conservatives.

This is the mission of The Heritage Foundation. We want to continue to develop and present conservative solutions to the nation’s toughest problems. And we cannot do this alone.

We are looking for a select few conservatives to become a Heritage Foundation member. With your membership, you’ll qualify for all associated benefits and you’ll help keep our nation great for future generations.

Old Lurker

MM, yes individual snippets of the story are amusing; and for us junkies, it has been a good puzzle. And I agree that by his career and by his writings, Trump knows what he is doing.

But I stand on those two simple truths in my 9:51 about the saga. It is time for the Fat Lady to sing or the audience is going to go home.

Maybe Strassel can tweet about "Furious and Fast" to see if Tapper has a comment.

"Brothers Awan?"

"One Uranium?"

Come on Jake, say something.

On this day in 1568 Queen Elizabeth I ordered the arrest of Mary, Queen of Scots. She later had her beheaded.

Cap'n "Every time Clapper opens his fat yap he sounds like a caricature of someone really ignorant."

Actually, every time he opens his mouth, viewers are instantly reminded of the video of him lying outright to Congress under oath, looking just as smug as Koskinen ever looked in so doing. That is the good news. The bad news is that that reminder just reminds the viewer that until proven otherwise, they both got away with it. That is becoming the bad news.

The Infamous Ignatz

--Who (besides CH??) doesn't love a wedding???--

Waving hand wildly [and I have one impending at some point]. :/

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I foresee a big TV reveal, with slides, video and a good, easy-to-understand explanation. Many of the people I follow on Twitter who do research believe that they were spying on most of the GOP candidates, or at least the top 5 in the polls, as far back as 2015.

I hope that proves to be true, as it will be about more than just Trump and will demonstrate how pervasive their nascent police state was. It might get Dana Perino off of her sarcastic remarks about President Trump and get them ALL to realize how Trump's election saved their rear ends.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

One thing about this wedding you guys should be happy about: since all of the networks had already sent crew and anchors over there and wanted the ratings, we have been spared the hand-wringing about not having gun control in the United States.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

Come on Jake, say something

I know that goof was on Coal Bear's show for the feeble minded earlier this week but am unaware if he got the seals clapping with that nugget. Being a c-list talent there will be ample future opportunities there.

Old Lurker

MM, I almost always agree with your facts. But when you say "I foresee a big TV reveal, with slides, video and a good, easy-to-understand explanation", I wish you would substitute "foresee" with "fantasize about". We all share the fantasy; but to foresee it implies you think that will actually occur. NOTHING to date, supports that expectation.

Ralph L

Harry's eyes are too close together, as are Charles' and Philip's. It is odd he got Hewitt's nose. At least he didn't get Zara's husband's nose.

The Infamous Ignatz

I can't get over the unintended hilarity in this headline at memorandum that doesn't seem to go away;

F.B.I. Used Informant to Investigate Russia Ties to Campaign, Not to Spy, as Trump Claims-

I suppose the equivalent apocryphal headline would be;

"Man does not bite dog; dog places paw in mouth of man who then justifiably contracts his temporomandibular joint".

Captain Hate on the iPhone

It might get Dana Perino off of her sarcastic remarks about President Trump and get them ALL to realize how Trump's election saved their rear ends.

I'll believe that when it happens because they're very emotionally invested in hating DJT and frankly I don't think most of them have the character to admit they were badly mistaken.

Who would do this slide show? Not Sessions, since it has to do with the election. Rosenstein? Giuliani?

I thought it was Urinal One.

Cohen/Ghouliani are great pimps but their lawyering...

Miss Marple the Deplorable

OKm Old Lurker, how about I say "envision" as a compromise word?

Yes, part of that is probably fantasy, but on the other hand, a great deal of this presidency was NOT foreseen by anyone, including me. That includes the entire North Korea thing.

My personal opinion is that if I get pessimistic about this situation, I will be ceding power to the other side. I refuse. Now that may not be the case with you, but it is for me.

So, until we see how this rolls out, I will have my preferred movie of the big reveal playing in my head.

Maybe Arpaio can do the slide show. It worked out real well during the Birther Wars.

rse is a slightly different document that establishes the episcopal church's "Long Term Commitment to Racial Healing, Reconciliation and Justice".

Michael Curry who gave that sermon today was the Presiding Bishop of the conference that sought to "Establish Response to Systemic Injustice" and then is behind this Beloved Community push that is a reinterp of the MH vision I have been tracking.

I am proud of my ability to track a vision even if the relevant buzz words or the M word is omitted. Funny thing is that's what woke me up before dawn. Mulling over the organized deceit behind MLK, the existence of the MH vision, and how learning standards really work and the ubiquitous support for them now. Since I was awake I decided to watch the wedding.

Only reason I already knew about Beloved Community at all was the (co)lab meeting I wnt to in 2013 where it kept being mentioned in the context of what was being pushed in atlanta and how competency standards actually work.

Funny how epiphanies can be so much a matter of serendipity.

If I tell you that I got up at 4 am, did make up, french braided my hair, and put on a (sun) dress and jewelry to "attend" Charles and Diana's wedding in July 1981, will it worry you?

No worries, but confirms our suspicions anonamom.

Underneath that no nonsense, to the point exterior, lies the heart of a romantic;-)

Miss Marple the Deplorable

If I am casting the slide show, I vote for Joe DeGenova.

He has been very good at explaining things and I think he would be HAPPY to do it!

Benedict Arnold

Devin Nunes is a known dairy farmer.

He milks his own goat.

My good wife set an alarm for this morning so she could see the wedding so I was at least peripherally involved, more so when I finally put on my glasses.

The scene, the setting, and the day were stunning. I enjoyed the pageantry, the service, and the two choirs.

The American bishop, while long, played on a marvelous theme that tied together the couple, the countries, and the world. All that was missing was him asking the crowd if he could get an “Amen!” Maybe the Anglicans and the Episcopalians will find one religion again.

The 19-year-old cellist was the best I have heard and seen.

Harry and Meghan and the families did well. The rerun is still on in the background.

Jack is Back!

Who would want to trivialize this with a dog & pony slide show? No, I want it to be a criminal trial, charging them all with sedition, that gets live TV coverage like OJ's but with opposite results. Talk about a lesson in the value of a Constitution.

But then I am fantasizing while sipping my covfefe on OL's ledge.

The Infamous Ignatz

That was one exceptional Week in Pictures Hoyden linked earlier.

I watched the first Rugby semi-final between Saracens and Wasps. Total of 90 points, Saracens 57 versus Wasps 33. Most points ever in a Premiership semi-final. Now hav the other one on: Exeter (the standings leader) v. Newcastle. Real men playing real-men football unlike the NFL weenies.

My above trial should be like Nuremberg where all the full cast of seditionist have to stand together in a cage as the prosecutor reads out the charges and demands an instant verdict without any defense. Some get public hangings, some get public humiliation by tar & feathers and ride a pole down Pennsylvania Avenue. For Brennan, Susan Rice, Zippy, Ben Rhodes and Samantha Powers, I would suggest using RFK stadium as a Lion versus Man/Woman kind of ordeal. Packed house. No charge for tickets.

No tm that's what Katherine heigl is for.

Jack "No, I want it to be a criminal trial, charging them all with sedition, that gets live TV coverage like OJ's but with opposite results. Talk about a lesson in the value of a Constitution."

Frankly, anything less than that will confirm that this is all just another reality TV show.

Yesterday I was listening to Rush when the guy called in to thank Rush for "saving his life" when he was in prison and all he could hear was talk radio and there he started listening to Rush. He was serving 8 years starting at age 18 and got more time for acting up in prison. Until he started listening to Rush, he had never been exposed to a world where there was "right v wrong", and he and his pals thought even cops were just bad guys with badges. If you live a life and are surrounded by people who all think that and who never heard of the Ten Commandments, why wouldn't you be like the caller? Back to my Tytler is no accident that the first step up from Poverty and Bondage is Faith, then from that flows the courage required.

Back to Jack's point. If this is all just reality TV, we are truly screwed.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

Good point, a-mom. It also makes you wonder how much of that messy consent of the governed they believe in.

In the borough’s New Dorp Lane shopping district recently, there was no shortage of Grimm supporters — and lawn signs.

I grew up two blocks from there.

And if this is the same guy, he was married to my late cousin.

“I like what’s he’s done for us. I think he’s done good things now and as the DA,” said Anthony Scotto, 71, an Eltingville Republican who called Grimm “a little rough around the edges.”

Although if it's really the same guy, someone had to write those two sentences for him and have him read them from a cue card.

rse, what did you mean in your 10:33 by this sentence, " Mulling over the organized deceit behind MLK, the existence of the MH vision, and how learning standards really work and the ubiquitous support for them now. "??

Pin, thanks for that Cthulhu ballad last evening--how very, very odd. As for palindromic music, my husband says the best example might be Haydn's Symphony No. 47, the third movement (the minuet) which definitely fits the bill. (He's an orchestra conductor and composer so he knows this kind of thing).
