Less than 24 hours after the gunfire, Murphy -- a former Goldman Sachs banker who served as President Barack Obama's ambassador to Germany -- began calling for gun control without addressing the other circumstances involved in the crime.
"It's yet another reminder of the senseless gun violence, even having signed six stringent gun laws last week," Murphy said at a news conference Sunday following a service at Trenton's Galilee Baptist Church.
Thanks, late-niters, for the music--especially the joyous girl drummer and the Mobius-strip crab canon! The filmmakers for the latter do a beautiful job of showing how the canon is working--just extraordinary music. What a mind.
I bet Clinton loyalists in the FBI were worried that maybe someone DID have Clinton's deleted emails.
Maybe some of the spying was them trying to find out who had what.
Those deleted emails are a problem....& then they possibly show up again on Weiner's laptop, so that had to be stopped.
“I think the overarching point here is that this whole issue has to come to a resolution,” Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said in an interview with Hill.TV’s new morning show Rising.
“At some point Special Counsel Mueller and his team I hope will wrap up the investigation and clear the air one way or the other whether or not there was collusion with the Russians,” he added. “This is a cloud that is hanging over the country and certainly hanging over this presidency. And I do hope that happens, and soon.”
Sooooo Clapper wants Mueller to wrap up his Russia probe without having interviewed one member of the administration in charge of overseeing the 2016 election? Seems like an odd way to do things, no?
I hope DJT's tweets this morning are the first warning shot of a veto on Amigo Grande unless it is much tougher on border security than the Repuke moneymen will allow.

The court explains that it would normally order the dismissal of the plaintiffs' claims, but this "is not the usual case. It concerns an unsettled kind of claim this Court has not agreed upon, the contours and justiciability of which are unreslved." So the court sends the case back to the district court to give the plaintiffs a chance to show that they themselves have suffered "concrete and particularized injuries."

My unsolicited advice to fellow writers: Stay focused on contents of DOJ IG report, hearings on Capitol Hill this week, and showdown with DOJ over documents. The mob wants to draw us into the latest immigration outrage to distract attention away from this scandal. Don't do it.
What has RSE been warning about critical thinking skills?
"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Only a quarter of U.S. adults in a recent survey could fully identify factual statements - as opposed to opinion - in news stories, the Pew Research Center found in a study released on Monday."
Good Morning! There has been some action on the northern border and the ACLU is very upset. Last month, a Customs and Border Patrol agent boarded a Concord Coach bus in Bangor and asked the passengers if they were U.S. citizens. The ACLU spokesman for Maine and NH called the action "morally repugnant." CPB does random checks at the bus station, because Bangor is within the 100 mile limit of the closet Canadian border crossing. (93 miles) Meanwhile,in NH the same ACLU guy is outraged by the checkpoint that was set up over Memorial Day week-end on I-93 in Woodstock,NH. According to the Manchester paper,17 illegals were turned over to ICE. CBP plans on other random checkpoints this year. Of the 17 illegals detained, six had overstayed their visa. Those arrested were from Brazil,Colombia,El
Salvador,Indonesia,Guatemala,Ukraine and Mexico. Also Uzbekistan. I guess that covers most of the United Nations. Various narcotics were also seized. The ACLU spokesman said,"this happened on a holiday week-end,in the White Mountains, what does that say about NH's motto, Live Free or Die." You can't make this stuff up. The ACLU is concerned about illegal aliens having their vacation ruined?!
Only a quarter of U.S. adults in a recent survey could fully identify factual statements - as opposed to opinion - in news stories, the Pew Research Center found in a study released on Monday."
I wonder whether the Pew researchers can actually distinguish fact from opinion. But in any case, it must be Trump's fault.
Concord Management’s lawyers revealed that Mueller’s team ignored over 70 discovery requests they had made for information before the case. In response Mueller’s team offered to give Concord Management’s lawyers a massive amount of social media data from those dangerous trolls (jk) who sought to influence the US election and the majority of it was in RUSSIAN. Mueller’s lawyers then admitted they don’t even have English translations for the Russian social media posts.
So Mueller’s lawyers don’t have English translations to the Russian social media posts but we’re supposed to believe that Americans were influenced by these posts?
Having produced not one iota of discovery in this criminal case the unlawfully appointed Special Counsel requests a special and unprecedented blanket protective order covering tens of millions of pages of unclassified discovery. Having made this special request based on a secret submission to the Court and a hysterical dithyramb about the future of the American elections, one would think that the Special Counsel would cite to case holdings that support this remarkable request. But no, instead, the Special Counsel seeks to equate this make-believe electioneering case to others involving international terrorism and major drug trafficking, and relies only on irrelevant dicta from inappropriate, primarily out-of-circuit cases. In short, fake law, which is much more dangerous than fake news.
On that Wisconsin "gerrymandering" case, if the whiners plaintiffs were to prevail, how big a leap would it be to declare that the Electoral College as practiced (mostly winner-take-all in each state) violates equal protection.

If President Obama (who got nowhere with North Korea and would have had to go to war with many millions of people being killed) had gotten along with North Korea and made the initial steps toward a deal that I have, the Fake News would have named him a national hero!
Because parking downtown is so terrible right now, my teacher sister drove me down and dropped me off while she went to the library.
Got the paperwork I needed and while waiting for her on the street had a nice chat with a guy my daughter's age wearing an ankle monitor. I gave him a cigarette since he was out and was waiting for his dad to pick him up.
So then an older couple came up, joked about the ankle monitor (I didn't ask because I didn't want to be nosy) and he said it was for selling drugs. "At some pint you have to stop the fast life and easy cash, and I guess it was just my time to be caught."
He told them he had been caught with 50 syringes of something. Jeesh.
They traded experiences abot wearing ankle monitors and whether it is better to be in Marion County Jail (Indianapolis) or Johnson County Jail (one county south).
His father is a retired IFD firefighter who went to school with my sister.
If a legislative district must be competitive to pass judicial scrutiny, does that mean that, once voters decisively reject one party or the other, no valid districts can be created?
Your 11:18 'Change the Law' -- this morning I scanned a Tulsa World half page (AP, I think) story about this problem being Trump's, and that he's lying about it not being his -- that he wants it this way. He wants these poor children torn from their families.
From The Other McCain:
"Tip: Pentagon Covering Up Fact That Female Officers Nearly Sank Navy Ship:
"... but not the actual officer in charge, the officer of the deck. (OOD) The other person who should have kept the Fitz out of trouble is the person in charge of the combat information center, the Tactical Action Officer. That individual is supposed to be monitoring the combat radar, which can detect a swimmer at a distance of two miles.
Not until a year later, when the final reports are made public and the guilty parties have been court-martialed, does the truth come out. The OOD was named Sarah, and the Tactical Action Officer was named Natalie, and they weren’t speaking to each other!!! The Tactical Action Officer would normally be in near constant communication with the OOD, but there is no record of any communication between them that entire shift!
Another fun fact: In the Navy that won WWII, the damage control officers were usually some of the biggest and strongest men aboard, able to close hatches, shore up damaged areas with timbers, etc. The Fitz’s damage control officer was also a woman, and she never left the bridge. She handled the aftermath of the accident remotely, without lifting a finger herself!
Look it up: The OOD was Sarah Coppock, Tactical Action Officer was Natalie Combs. . . ."
If the Founding Fathers (or is it Parents now? or Partners") had intended that House Reps be proportional to the party votes of the state they could have written it that way (statewide vote, assign reps proportionally). But they didn't. Of course they didn't really even envision or want political parties, but so what? Amend the Constitution if you don't like the outcomes.
OMG, I hadn't seen this. In her heart of hearts, does Teresa May really believe this? She's extolling the peaceful three million Muslims in the UK and their contributions to the UK's society and country.
"If Hillary Clinton would have won the election, this is what we would have looked forward to."
If Sessions or anyone else decides not to go forward with the prosecution of Hillary, I think Trump should ask people to submit the names of all people convicted of her many offenses so he can pardon them.
Everyone understands that that Pew survey was designed to create the concern that will then make the Media Literacy Standards, that pew is involved in, needed in K-12, even though they actually make the prblem worse?
Students get told to defer to certain sources like the legacy media or to see the world through politically useful concepts that bias toward the need for transformation. And the agenda rolls on. I think the biggest discovery for me so far in 2018 was to recognize those Media Literacy Standards, how that agenda worked, and how it was tied to the k-12 learning standrds usually shorthanded as the common core.
If someone doesn't think those concepts and being able to prescribe them creates a problem (it is to work just like the hoped for neural net AI wishes to use) unesco a few weeks ago in a book called Transforming the Future laid out the plans to use the prescribed core ideas from the various school disciplines that parents misleadingly still believe are about content to have students reimagine how the future can be trasnformed.
Ties right into those Media Literacy Standrds. When I followed up on the book and found that it arose out of Rock F funding and convenings on lake como on their bellagio retreat out came a man, Tony MacKay, tied to K-12 learning standrds and 21st century skills all over the globe.
Pew just wants to push 'critical thinking' skills in the tony mackay/MS/big blue/disney use of the word.
Thanks for that 11:34 on the Fitzgerald. I sent that on to my USNA friends who have very critical of the both the Academy political correctness and the surface warfare training or lack of it. That is an eye-opener and if Mattis doesn't resolve this nonsense of training our sailors and airman he loses main ground support.
All of this stupidity about those minor detainees is not fooling my sister.
She said they are just pushing this to distract from the huge scandal at the FBI.
Congratulations on your sister seeing the light. There's no better way to see things clearly than finding out you've been lied to, which is why I will concentrate on the RINOs when it's throat slashing time.
It is not necessary to believe that (a) women shouldn’t be fighter pilots, in order to believe (b) lowering standards for the sake of quotas is a bad idea. Of course, you may believe both (a) and (b), but it is (b) that gets people killed.
Affirmative action quotas in military promotion boards are one of the worst kept secrets at the Pentagon. Its been DOD policy for decades.
Military promotions boards work something like this. 1000 candidates are eligible for promotion to the next rank. Only 60% will get promoted. The promotion board reviews all the personnel records, performance reports, etc and ranks everyone 1-1000. After they get the initial ranking they look at the race and gender of the top 600. If the top 600 don't have enough minorities and females in it, then the promotion board adjusts the rankings and moves someone who was originally ranked 601-1000 up at the expense of a white male officer who was in the original top 600.
Promotion boards are conducted under a shroud of secrecy and the board members will get punished if they violate the NDA and divulge how the quota system works.

I tell you, this drug thing is pretty bad.

If a legislative district must be competitive to pass judicial scrutiny, does that mean that, once voters decisively reject one party or the other, no valid districts can be created?

MM,
Your 11:18 'Change the Law' -- this morning I scanned a Tulsa World half page (AP, I think) story about this problem being Trump's, and that he's lying about it not being his -- that he wants it this way. He wants these poor children torn from their families.
I hate the media.

Look it up: The OOD was Sarah Coppock, Tactical Action Officer was Natalie Combs. . . ."

Yep, joan. Every local station is running with that meme.
The reporters are standing outside a "Southwest Key" youth center, where all the kids are being held.
Do they think these centers were built yesterday?
I remember several blogs doing some digging into these centers while Ted Cruz was handing teddy bears to the separated yoots.

Incidentally, regarding the discussion of whether Page and Strzok were actually lovers, there is this from Page, according the the IG report:
"The predominant reason that we communicated on our work phones was because we were trying to keep our affair a secret from our spouses."
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/14/fbis-anti-trump-lovebirds-page-and-strzok-used-work-phones-to-shield-affair-from-spouses-ig-report.html
Of course she could be lying, but it would be a bit strange to lie about *not* having an affair.

at least Page wasn't gumming a porn star.
That would make her disgusting and Bill Kristol is having NONE of THAT.

Davod,
Thanks for that 11:34 on the Fitzgerald. I sent that on to my USNA friends who have very critical of the both the Academy political correctness and the surface warfare training or lack of it. That is an eye-opener and if Mattis doesn't resolve this nonsense of training our sailors and airman he loses main ground support.
